[Q] OP6 A6000 Tmobile USA Compatibility - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I will make this brief. My wife purchased a OP6 from Gearbest over the weekend, big sale and got he op6 for $389. I just had a chance to look into it and it is the A6000 model with oxygen os. My concern is that it will not be compatible with Tmo lte bands in the USA, or well the ones that matter. Where we live there is no band 71 yet, so that is out the window. Here are the bands it says it supports.
Network:
GSM: 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz, CDMA: BC0 / BC1
WCDMA: B1 / 2 / 4 / 5 / 8 / 9 / 19, TD-SCDMA: B34 / 39
TD-LTE: B34 / 38 / 39 / 40 / 41,
FDD-LTE: B1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 7 / 8 / 12 / 17 / 18 / 19 / 20 / 25 / 26 / 28 / 29 / 66
Should we be concerned about coverage, or should we cancel this order for the phone?
Edit: If someone in the USA is using the A6000 model and is on Tmo, can you provide your experiences wit this phone on TMO? I realize this is subjective to where you live and coverage. Just curious. Thank you in advance

I'm on the 6000 with Metro, and I have zero issues. Believe we don't have access to the 600 band, but that's not active in central Florida

Where we live band 71 (which I think is band 600 for Tmo) is not available here either. How is coverage and day to day useage for you on the A6000? Again I know this is subjective to your area. How are your LTE speeds, etc?
I appreciate your feedback, thank you

Coverage is the same as my pixel 2 xl is to be honest, my speeds are throttled some being on metro, but I got no complaints about lte speed or coverage

Okay, so if I do not cancel her order, she should be fine with the A6000 on Tmo in our area then. Perhaps I will just let it finalize and ship. Besides I have been on chat with Gearbest waiting for a reply chat for over an hour with no response. Anyways, thank you for the response qbanlinxx.

AT&T Band 17

Hi everyone,
I've been doing searches but can't verify so felt i should ask.
The AT&T variant of the S7 doesn't show LTE Band 17 (700MHz)- it does, however, show Band 12 capabilities. Is this because 17 shares band 12's spectrum and they/ATT are just renaming it basically or will my phone not be able to use AT&T's 700 MHz LTE?
I would hope the latter's not the case but I wanted to be sure.
If anyone has input, that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
AT&T has started merging Band 12 and 17 support on their towers. So you will be fine with band 12.

oh.. awesome, thank you for the knowledge!
Wow, thank you so much for clearing this up. I could not believe a AT&T branded phone would not pick up Band 17 and I just assumed it was an error. So, the G930A Galaxy S7 made for AT&T will pick up service on the lower 700 MGRZ Band 12 if I am on AT&T which will basically be the same coverage as what used to be 17? I am curious as my current HTC 10 shows AT&T coverage with Band 17 as well as my IPhone for work. So, based on this new information this will eventually change and start to reflect Band 12?

FRD-L04 - Which LTE Bands?

Hi all,
Looking at replacing my Nexus 5X with an Honor 8 from the US (FRD-L04). I split my time between the USA and Australia, and as such I need good band support in both countries.
In the USA, I use T-Mobile which looks as though it'll be fine.
In Australia, I use Telstra. They use the following frequencies:
LTE
Name Interface
B1 (2100) LTE
B3 (1800 +) LTE
B28 (700 APT) LTE
Supported LTE Protocols
Name Generation
LTE 4G
LTE-A 4G

As well as:
UMTS

B1 (2100) UMTS
B5 (850) UMTS

I am a bit confused, because in some places it indicates that the phone does not support the LTE bands in Australia. But according to the HiHonor website, it supports all but one of them.
Any guidance on this? Thanks.
I've posted there details within the forum before, but here you go.

Hmm, see here is the problem.
According to frequencycheck, L14 supports B1 and 3, but not 28 and L04 supports neither.
But yet according to Honor themselves and even BestBuy, the phone should support everything I need for both Telstra and T-Mobile (except Band 28 which is no big deal for me).
So, which is correct? I'm sure you can see my confusion.

Trust the manufacturer. Honor official site will have correct info
I can confirm FrequencyCheck is incorrect. I can also, however, say I wouldn't want a phone without band 28 in your situation. The lower frequency should have much better coverage.

Tmobile LTE Bands

Will they support T-Mobile LTE band 71
Yea, I'm 99% sure. Since it will have Snapdragon 845 like the Galaxy S9- that supports b71. We should also see VoLTE and WiFi calling like in all other OnePlus phones.
I read this on another site. It doesn't looked like it

That references the OnePlus 5T. I think they have just taken last year's model and updated it as a place holder. I don't think it's official information.

Like how @holz75 mentioned, check the spec in Oneplus website.
Does anyone know if it will support dual VoLTE standby for 2 sims?
This is from OnePlus website. Click on the Check Carrier Compatability link
Came here to ask a similar question. Now that the details and specs have all been released... I've always had carrier phones, currently with Tmobile. Using the op6 in north america(florida) will this phone get the same kind of reception and network speeds as a carrier branded phone would, like an s9 or lg bought from a tmobile store?
Thanks

It should be very comparable. 4x4 MIMO, with 256 QAM and cat 16 LTE. I'm in North Florida too and the OP5 had good reception here.
Anyone tested to see if we can connect to band 71 on T-Mobile

I'm in PA but I can tell you my wife has an s9+ and although her reception is fine, mines better on the op6 on metro (which is T-Mobile). As for band 71, I don't have much of that deployed near me but I've used most other bands listed on oneplus' website so I think it'll work fine.

Why does this matter? I'm on T-Mobile and OnePlus 6 works like a charm. In full bar areas, I'm getting 100 mbps

One Plus 7 US

So it appears that you can't get the regular One Plus 7 in the US, but I would assume you could still order from One Plus & use it on T-Mobile correct? As long as the bands are there, it should be a global phone right? Don't really find that my wife needs the 7 Pro, so that's what I was considering.

It should work.
You'll likely have to pay an import premium and you won't have a warranty on it. By the time you do that, your price may be close to the Pro anyway.
The 6T is getting a modest price cut. $30 - big whoop.
Some things to consider.

Do you think it would be an import premium if it comes directly from their site? I bought my 6T from them directly, but at the same time, the 6T was something you could also get here at T-mobile. Unfortunately they'll only have the pro.
If however there was an import fee & they won't ship it to the US & I have to go 3rd party, then yeah, you could be right about being close to the Pro. I came close to the Xiaomi Mi 9 for my wife, but held off to see what the 7 brought. And sadly they didn't make it a US release like they've done with everything else. At least my 5T & 6T were both bought from them.
Seems like... Oh, we aren't going to release it in the US because it's geared towards places who can't dish out the 7 Pro price. Almost like your being forced to get the Pro. This could go against them & sway people wanting the 7 vs Pro just going with a different manufacturer.
I just found it odd when I heard that since my plan was the 7 for the wife. All I was waiting on was full specs, release date & price.

The OnePlus website for the US is not even showing the OP7 ("non-Pro"), basically like it doesn't even exist. Just the 7 Pro and the 6T. I get the feeling if you want a 7, you'll need to get it from a 3rd party vendor.

If there's a minimal mark-up I could handle it. If it reaches the 7 pro price, I'd pass. I've asked this question in the AMA thread for today hoping for an answer as are others. We'll see.

What I find odd is they assume "everyone" wants the premium device. Obviously not the case. Why limit what you sell? It's not like it's not already physically available. Sell your higher end SKU to the hardcore users and your mid tier to your non. Do you think 90% of the people looking at a phone cares about HDR 10+? My wife sure doesn't.
Why is it Google, Samsung, Apple, etc give us options for what fits what we want but OP can't? Buy giving those options, you grab more customers.
It just boggles me over their reasoning. I'd like to see the stats that says everyone in the US wants a premium device. We've already seen evidence on multiple forums that not everyone does.
I like my 6T, but for the wife, I won't be going 7 Pro.

So I went through the spec sheet, & importing it isn't even an option because they've omitted band 66 & 71 on the phone.
T-mobile bands: 2,4,66,5,12,71
6T: contains all of those as does the 7 pro.
7: 2,4,5,12.
Guess they made it known they didn't even want people importing it by omitting those.
I did read once where someone said all phones with that hardware has those bands, but they aren't enabled. Not sure about that, but yeah.

I've been considering ordering a OP7 from aliexpress. It is actually cheaper (like $525 US). They flash it to the Global Rom which is supposed to have bands 66 & 71. It is supposed to support OTA updates as well. Plus, you can get that Red one which is only available in China. There is no warranty, but I really hate the curved edges on the Pro, and it is just so big. The 7 seems to have fixed everyhing which was wrong with the 6t.

T-Mobile will sell the OnePlus 7 Pro with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage for $0 down and $29.17 per month for 24 months on an Equipment Installment Plan. T-Mobile will also offer the OnePlus 7 Pro through JUMP! On Demand, with JOD pricing set at $0 down and $31 per month for an 18-month lease. As you’d expect from a brand new flagship phone on T-Mobile, the OnePlus 7 Pro supports all of T-Mo’s LTE network features. That includes 600MHz (LTE band 71) as well as 4×4 MIMO, 256 QAM, License Assisted Access (LAA), and carrier aggregation.

I don't want the T-Mo version, the unlocked one on their site has all of the bands including 66, and 71.
My main question I need answered before buying this phone is whether RCS will work on the unlocked one. Otherwise I'll wait and pay more for the Note 10
My Telco uses band 3 and 40. I purchased my op 7p from the US site, as per the site, the American op store version has band 3 but not 40. Do u guys know if this can be changed via software or is it the hardware?
The version in India has both band 3 and 40.

I would like to know this too - B40 support for OP7Pro North America model.
I am interested in B40 which seems very important for India.
