FRD-L04 - Which LTE Bands? - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Looking at replacing my Nexus 5X with an Honor 8 from the US (FRD-L04). I split my time between the USA and Australia, and as such I need good band support in both countries.
In the USA, I use T-Mobile which looks as though it'll be fine.
In Australia, I use Telstra. They use the following frequencies:
LTE
Name Interface
B1 (2100) LTE
B3 (1800 +) LTE
B28 (700 APT) LTE
Supported LTE Protocols
Name Generation
LTE 4G
LTE-A 4G

As well as:
UMTS
Name Interface
B1 (2100) UMTS
B5 (850) UMTS

I am a bit confused, because in some places it indicates that the phone does not support the LTE bands in Australia. But according to the HiHonor website, it supports all but one of them.
Any guidance on this? Thanks.

I've posted there details within the forum before, but here you go.

Foot note; L04 & L14 same just L14 is 64GB

Hmm, see here is the problem.
According to frequencycheck, L14 supports B1 and 3, but not 28 and L04 supports neither.
But yet according to Honor themselves and even BestBuy, the phone should support everything I need for both Telstra and T-Mobile (except Band 28 which is no big deal for me).
So, which is correct? I'm sure you can see my confusion.

Trust the manufacturer. Honor official site will have correct info

I can confirm FrequencyCheck is incorrect. I can also, however, say I wouldn't want a phone without band 28 in your situation. The lower frequency should have much better coverage.

GEM-702L LTE in the Netherlands

Hi XDA,
I found a website where I can check if LTE will work. However, carriers in the Netherlands use multiple band, such as band 3, 7 and 20. The GEM-702L doesn't support band 20, but it does support 3 and 7.
My question: Will LTE work on just band 3 or 7, or is band 20 necessary for LTE to work?
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
-thatgrass
Its necessary only one band for LTE work. 3, 7 or 20, in this case the 702 model has 3 or 7 so can work in one of those bands.

What carrier are you using? Have a look at this thread:

Thank you so much. I have contacted my carrier and they said in the rural area's also the bands 3 and 7 are supported. However, when looking at the entire country, band 20 is the most used. So with bands 3 and 7 I am able to use LTE in certain area's.

I am using KPN. They actually are the one with the worst band 3 and band 7 coverage. I guess I have to look for the GEM-701L.
Does someone maybe know where to get the GEM-701L? I can't seem to find one for a good price which will ship within a few days and doesn't look like a scam.

B28 band on NXT-AL10 or any dual sim version

Is there any chance to get the B28 Lte band working on 64gb or 128gb chinese model by flashing the international modem firmware?
Only the 32gb international 1 sim model has this B28 band avalaible. I need the dual sim stuff and the B28 band...
In France this band will start to be used by providers from april. My provider will use principaly this band for LTE.
If anybody has an idea, i'm listening to it
no idea, wed first have to figure out of the LTE band support is hardware or software-based before we can answer this question
Yep, that's what i ment by this question... If anybody already knows if it's the same hardware for LTE support than in the L09 or not.
Hope we'll find out.
ideally, we could potentially manipulate the modem.img as to unlock any and all available bands supported by the hardware modem
That would be great... but i'm a newbie in the dev world... So i have no idea about how to process to test things...
And i'm still waiting my mate 8. Hope i'll get it next week.
Hello,
I am also interested in this subject, it would be a good solution to unlock this frequency ....
Hi ? can install chinis software on international
yep, it should work
Sent from my Huawei Mate 8 NXT-AL10 using Tapatalk
Any news on this subject?
Just to let you know it seems that our mate 8 NXT L29 support the B28 band. Huawei made an update in february. You can see it here : http://m.huawei.com/be-frmobile/consumer/support/faqs/detail/index.htm?id=74232
Any news?? On B28
I looking to Wikipedia

V10 vs View 10 LTE bands?

I think the main difference between Chinese V10 and European/US View 10 is the LTE bands. Do you know if it's possible to unlock band 20 on the Chinese version?
Can the CMDA be used on verizon?
No. No Verizon or Sprint.
Must have t-mobile or at&t correct?
Yes, and any smaller carrier that depends on their bands.
Sammae7 said:

Before buying an unlocked phone to use on a US GSM network, you need to research the 4G FDD radio bands used by the carrier and make sure the phone you want supports those FDD radio bands. (Verizon users, even when Verizon abandons CDMA in 2019, you won't be able to go out and buy any phone with the correct FDD bands and that supports VoLTE to use on their network. Verizon has made it clear that it will only provision phones that it has tested and certified.) Here's a link with US and Canadian carrier bands. https://www.signalbooster.com/pages/what-are-the-cellular-frequencies-of-cell-phone-carriers-in-usa-canada

Best I can do is recommend you search this page by the carrier in India that you use, it will tell you if you'll get 2G, 3G and LTE with the Honor View 10, TD-LTE BLN-AL10. https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/QePYuJz/huawei-honor-6x-dual-sim-td-lte-bln-al10/india

That one is incorrect
Says the l09 don't support lte in America
It does
As far as India
Look at these bands

Band 30 LTE (AT&T) and Band 71 LTE (T-Mobile) missing.

Oneplus 7 Pro's LTE bands are "B1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28,29,32,66".
Is it just a small problem?
edit :
AT&T : 2/4/5/12/17/29/66
T-Mobile : 2/4/5/12/46/48/66/71
Verizon Wireless : 2/4/5/13/46/48/66
Band 71 is present, but just contradicts with their other info where band 71 isn't present.
FDD LTE: B1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28,29,32,66
TDD-LTE: B34,38,39,40,41
TDS: B34,39
UMTS: B1,2,4,5,8,9,19
CDMA: BC0,BC1
GSM: B2,3,5,8
I checked https://www.cellmapper.net/ to check on the bands, but seems like it shouldnt be that big of an impact for me since it's not that many in my area. Or am I wrong ? I think it'll impact rural areas more with less towers.

But imma drop by the pop up store today maybe. I'll ask, but I doubt they know too.
I wish someone would confirm it. I really don't want to buy a phone from tmobile.

I don't want the T-Mo version, the unlocked one on their site has all of the bands including 66, and 71.
My main question I need answered before buying this phone is whether RCS will work on the unlocked one. Otherwise I'll wait and pay more for the Note 10
My Telco uses band 3 and 40. I purchased my op 7p from the US site, as per the site, the American op store version has band 3 but not 40. Do u guys know if this can be changed via software or is it the hardware?
The version in India has both band 3 and 40.

Frequency bands on Chinese Vs European OP8

Hi team,
It seems OnePlus is showing different frequencies on the 5G band for phones sold in China (IN2010) and Europe (IN2013).
IN2010: Bands 41, 78 & 79
IN2013: Bands 1, 3, 7, 28, 78.
Does anyone who if a Chinese phone originally intended for IN2010 bands are flashed the international ROM IN21BA, are the other bands accessible in Europe . Other bands being, 1,3,7,28 ect.
Or is there a hardware lock?
It's technically programmed into NVRAM, but the publicly found version of QPST doesn't support this device, so I don't know of a way to modify the bands.
1,3,7,28 and 20 are 4g LTE bands in France, so Europe. It's not 5g bands
These bands are presents on the IN2010 model too

Shame, when Europe starts using band 28 on 5G, the Chinese imported phone won't support this band then.
Also i recommend compare 4G and 5G Combinations between China and Europe variant:

In France B28 used for 4G LTE for now but i think they will transfer it to 5G like other countries. That will be low band 5G for many countries to build coverage.
