Im trying to unlock the bootloader on my friends samsung galay j3 luna pro, or at least check to see if it is unlocked. I have the samsung ADB interface up until i type
adb reboot bootloader
Once the device boots into fastboot, the driver is not showing, therefore I cant check or unlock the boot loader.
Does anyone have any tips for me? Semi-new to this so just looking for some help.

I don't have this device but, the following threads should be helpful for what you are looking for that's specific to your device. Don't be afraid to ask for some member guidance within one of them too.

Device does not support fastboot.

Hi, i have two questions i cant seem to find an answer to.
1) Do all android devices support adb and fastboot?
2) Are there any other protocols for communicating with the bootloader other than adb fastboot.
Thank for your help in advance. =)

1) I can't really speak for some crazy knock-off Chinese phones with no source or something, but yes, any Android device I've ever seen or used supports adb and fastboot.
2) You have things like Samsung's Odin, and HTC's RUU..
With Samsung, for instance, usually an insecure kernel for rooting is flashed thru Odin when a phone first comes out.
To add to the above
1)..In Some devices fastboot cannot be enabled(bootloader unlock allowed:No)- basically if ur device is with a non-unlockable bootloader (and comes with a locked bootloader -most carrier devices) - another reason to buy simfree phones
2) Flashtool for my device on siggy
Hi. I'm trying to find out the simplest way of discovering if a particular Samsung phone has a locked bootloader without attempting to flash a custom kernel and seeing if it's successful. It's a Galaxy S7 Edge. I was going to use the fastboot oem device-info command in bootloader mode, but I can't for the life of me get the fastboot command to see the device, despite the fact it sees my other phones and devices. I have the latest Samsung drivers installed.
Can anyone help? I don't want to return the phone to Vodafone UK, but I refuse to keep a device for this much money that can't be rooted. I was wondering if anyone was aware of an application that will indicate one way or another.
Just to say, I've already got a thread in the S7 Edge forum, but no one has been able to help.

Greetings,
Had you read the stickies, you would have seen that XDA Assist is not a help desk. This forum is for new members that need help navigating the site. We direct users to the proper forum or to a place where their questions may get answered. Since you have already asked in the proper forum, I suggest you wait for a reply there.
Thank you.

I found a post on "lssrpawn" about a possible unlock of the Galaxy S6 bootloader. I wanted to run it by you guys before I tried anything, not to mention the post itself is rather vague. I can't post outside links yet , so I'll just say how I got to it. I googled "Galaxy S6 Bootloader Unlock", and clicked the second link which is "lessrpwn.com › Tutorials". In the post it mentions 'superboot', and then it mentions using command prompt commands such as 'superboot device', which does not make sense as the superboot files that I found only come with adb-windows, fastboot-windows, etc. There is no superboot file except superboot-windows.bat and the .iso file, so how did the OP get that command at all?
Though very doubtful there will be a method to unlock the bootloader.. I am still hoping.. Please keep up posted~~

Sadly this method isn't for us. If you go to the youtube video linked in the tutorial it shows the fact that he has the Chinese SM-9250 version of the s6, and that the bootloader unlock only works for that Chinese version and a similar taiwanese version.
I don't have any idea why that video is even there, as it does not seem to have any connection to the guide. The guide never mentions CROM service at all, and shows a method that doesn't seem to matter what the phone's country of origin is. Could you further explain why the video is related?
The 'superboot' mentioned in the thread is actually fastboot
They're using the oem unlock command in fastboot to unlock their phone
This method will not work on the Verizon Galaxy S6
There are no current methods to unlock the Verizon Galaxy S6 bootloader and no root methods exist for the Verizon Galaxy S6 after 5.0.2(5.0.1?)
This isn't going to happen in the near future

The thing is, this method doesn't just use straight up fastboot. It first starts the phone up with the superboot.iso, and then uses fastboot oem unlock. I have no idea what the superboot.iso boots the phone into, but maybe there is a possibility that
Superboot launches the phone into a state where the fastboot command works. I would try this method myself if I could get fastboot to recognize my device, but it never will.

Any luck with that?
Hey guys!
I am a little new to xda, but I've been trying to customize my Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016, metropcs) for a long time. I've looked through the forums to try to find out how to unlock my bootloader. I've tried the unlock bootloader guide but it's no use. Apparently, one user said samsung doesn't support fastboot anymore, only odin .
So instead, I've enabled oem unlock to unlock my bootloader. When I tried to flash TWRP onto my phone via. Odin, TWRP doesn't get installed. I've also used their app, no budge either.
I strongly suspect that my bootloader is locked. Can anyone help me?
Thank You in Advance.

No need to flash TWRP: Booting into it is sufficient.

simple , go to about phone and try to find build number,
after you find build number tap on it until it says you are in developer mode
after that head on to developer option (it may be inside about phone section or above about phone section) turn on the option which says allow oem unlock. then,
just reboot to recovery mode either by pressing volume up or volume down key with power button.
after you enter recovery connect usb cable and open command prompt in pc and make sure that lg device drivers are installed on your pc also make sure you have adb and fastboot installed.
ok, after all this type command
adb devices
if any thing shows us then you have successfully connected your device.
after it type
adb reboot bootloader
then your mobile should restart and show fastboot mode in screen
type command
fastboot oem unlock
and done your bootloader is unlocked.

tarp image????? just follow the tutorial.
I meant TWRP recovery . After you've unlocked the bootloader where did you get a custom recovery to flash for the LG k51. From what I saw on Team Wins website, there isn't one.

I doubt that's going to work, but let me know if it does. Carriers and manufacturers use a variety of sophisticated security schemes like requiring lengthy codes that only they can provide, etc to purposely make it very difficult to unlock bootloaders. Tmobile gave me a K51 for free. They apparently feel the have to pay for it by spying on me. I bought a moto g7 plus unlocked for $117 directly from Moto and put Lineage on it, no gapps Would love to use thie k51 though if anyone figures it out because it's more waterproof and bigger battery.

Whether device's bootloader is unlockable / device's Android is root-able or not you easily can find out by means of ABB:
Code:
adb shell "getprop ro.oem_unlock_supported"
If returned value is 1, then it's supported otherwise it's not.

and let me guess my doofus luck im guessing no way to unlock it with out a P.C. like nuttin at all?
Absolutely no of the crap above works at all in any capacity especially sprint. Generic postings like hold volume down and power also doesn't work to go into fastboot so if you guys are following the advice of some of these guys don't because you'll drop more money on a new phone then you will unlocking it some variants verizon is one I think you have to call LG I know I spent 6 hrs on the phone with "tech support" aka "jokes with a screen to read from" to FINALLY get into touch with an engineer who told me the only way "NOW" to unlocked the bootloader is in his office which means it has to be depot to be unlocked which as of this moment lg is not doing that WILL change in the future that was 12/03/2020. Even running external adb with kali linux to hack it broke the bootloader and sends you into an infinite reboot loop

This returns no value on a locked bootloader because even with Dev. Opt. Enables its still read only until bootloader is unlocked this is verified on two carriers k51's sprint and att. However it is unlockable we haven't found it and/or LG has not added this service to their site which is where you will get the info needed for the unlocked.
Oh my. You know you need to do all this from a computer, right? Can't do it in an Android terminal because fastboot commands are only valid in a phone's bootloader environment. And if you didnt know that then rooting and all of the dangers that come with it just isnt for you. But yes, it's rootable. So here you go anyway.
Reboot the phone to download mode.
Install LG's K51 usb drivers, and install adb and fastboot, on your computer.
Open a command prompt and type: fastboot oem unlock
If it does anything other than pat you on the back and tell you it's proud of you and how well you follow instructions, then go back and follow the effing instructions.
Otherwise, type: fastboot reboot.
Download magisk manager.
Do the magisk manager.
Use the LG flash tool on your computer to flash what you just did when you did the magisk manager.
And presto, you're rooted. Or I successfully left out enough info and you dont know how to use Google, leaving your device still not rooted. And thank god for that.
Ive been learning from xda for some time now. Bricked a few phones in my learning curve and tonight i had my first success with my g7, and wrighting this on my new k51. This is my first post and I think that was pretty rude of you to say. This is supposed to be a place to learn, share knowledge, and help those who are less educated. Not look down on people and say crap like that. If he wants to learn even if it takes a couple bricked phones to do it, let him. Either give him the proper procedures or dont say nothing at all. How long did it take you? How many phones? Its taking me quit a while but i am finaly getting somewhere. Keep with it guy. Dont let this dude, or any one else for that matter, bring you down.

Yo Ken,
So your K51 rooted?
If so, maybe you could provide a step by step?
I haven't done this yet but is it verified working? I did a google search came across the method to do the unlocking but it showed it was a failed project?
