I've already installed TWRP in the last version before. This time, after installing the official MIUI, I install TWRP 3.2.3.1, restart the device, enter the recovery mode, and it works, but when entering the system and later trying to enter into recovery mode, it accesses the original recovery of the device, as if I had not even installed it before. Can someone help me? Thank you!

Thanks andregarcia,
Boot recovery command on fastboot, then 'fastboot flash recovery twrp.img / fastboot boot twrp.img'
I followed this: 'Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.'
It´s not working for me...
Ubehould do:

Fastboot boot....img
Into twrp: wipe - factory reset/format data, reboot twrp. @Fabio Magalhaes

Thanks, dzidexx. But I would like to install TWRP in MIUI Global Beta 18.11.1 and it remains on device. Theses steps are to install TWRP and prepare internal storage to receive another ROM. That´s not a big problem, but when MIUI official is installed, it removes TWRP and MIUI recovery takes control... Thanks anyway! Maybe next TWRP update solves...
Stock updates always overwrite twrp with stock recovery.

Mine is a XE one.
I get my mix 2s unlock the bootloader and would like to flash it to Global development version.
After I unlocked it and flashed it, it becomes bricked.
Now, it only boots to fastboot mode if I turn it on , or boots to recovery mode when I pree Vol up +power.
If I uses Miunlock tools to unlock it again, it doesn't detect my phone , and it is the same for Mi PC suite.
It only detects my phone with MiFlash, however, it doesn't flashed. Please see the link below.
Now, how to unbrick it without disassembly it ????????? Thank you !

What does it mean: miflash detects it but does not flash? Any error messages?
Mi unlock does not detect when phone is in fastboot?
1. Boot to fastboot.
2. Flash TWRP to recovery partition, reboot directly into recovery.
3. Choose wipe>format data (button)>type "yes"
4. Install custom ROM or restore MIUI.
This has happened to me every single time I have had to reinstall miui on the device. This device has given the most trouble from unlocking to reinstall of factory OS. Other than that, great device.

You misspelled "recovery" therefore it could not find the not existent partition. Hope is not lost yet.
fastboot flash recovery
After it flashes, use the hardware key combo to boot to TWRP. Ensure you are using the XE version since your phone is different.
The rest of the instructions remain the same.

You mean the xe version for twrp ? Where could I dl this version ? I am not sure which version did I flash.
NOW, it.only boots to fastboot, but not twrp or stock recovery.
Rename the folder where you have the images for flashing:
polaris_global_images____:....................... -> these folders with huge names.
Rename them to anything that is shorter. e.g. "mix2srom"
Also I would suggest flashing the CHINESE version now, just to unbrick your device. If you decide anyway to flash the global version. in the right corner of MiFlash, select "Clean all".
NEVER SELECT "Clean all and LOCK" on XE model when flashing Global rom.

If this does not flash into your recovery partition I agree you'll most likely have to download the fastboot file restore and start from there. I have the XA, I think most people here will as well. Once you get miui reinstalled, you should be able to get some things worked out again.

My friend if you have a Apple computer is easy to recovery your phone just open terminal on your Mac a put your phone in fastboot mode , download from the MIUI website the global beta version rom and uncompressed all the files on your desktop and flash them in fastboot one by one like putting together a puzzle after you flashing all of them reboot your phone and that's it I hope that helps you
Installing Magisk on Android 9/Emui 9 is straight forward and simple.
This is tested and working on my CMR-W09 9.0.1.160.
Follow @topjohnwu clear guide for EMUI 9 and you can't go wrong - https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html
You can use @Apo11on root guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/how-to/root-root-guide-huawei-mediapad-m5-t3786157 to find your tablets firmware, how to extract the img and patching the file via Magisk. Remember for EMUI 9 you need the RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img NOT the RAMDISK.img
If your having trouble finding your devices firmware, download Firmware Finder for Huawei from the Google Play Store and find the firmware relevant to your device. Once downloaded (it'll be 3GB plus), transfer over the file to your pc and then use Huawei update extractor to get RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
Once the file has been installed via ADB, boot into recovery (not erecovery). The tablet appears to boot into recovery but instead boots straight to the home screen. It still boots if you forget to boot via recovery mode but without root/Magisk.
As stated by topjohn, you lose recovery but the process can be reversed by reflashing the stock RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
Rather than ask others to share patched img's, it's worth doing it yourself as you can learn how to get yourself out of any potential issues.
It is important you read and understand topjohns guide regarding what file to download and what partition to flash it as it is different than installing Magisk on EMUI 8.
Good luck

Do you have to always boot to recovery as stated in the instructions?
I had several instances where I was unable to boot into recovery, always ending up in erecovery, and of course, didn't have root when I rebooted into the system. The only way I found of booting into recovery and not erecovery was precisely with adb (adb reboot recovery). After that, root is working, and rebooting apparently always passes by the recovery, so I always have magisk installed.

Strange that you have issues booting into recovery without using adb. Once you have root I found it easier to install one of those quick reboot apps that give you the option to boot into recovery if you need to restart it.
I´m trying this command, following the instructions of topjohnwu page:
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk /path/to/patched_boot.img
But I get this error:

Any help? Thx

Put the patched file in the same directory as ADB and do not enter "/path/to/"
Or....read the directions as fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk (put your path here) patched_boot.img
Ok, now here is what I did:
- Extracted the RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img of the Update and transfered it to the tablet
- In the M5 , I opened magisk- Install - Install - Patch Boot Image File. Select the RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img. A file patched-boot.img is created. I move it to the adb folder of my computer
I use this command in my computer :
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk patched_boot.img
Everything seems to go ok, but in the tablet there is no magisk installed and there is no root
Suggestions?

After having root, yes. After flashing magisk into the recovery_ramdisk, no, booting with vol-up pressed would always go to erecovery.

So, what I should do to undo the process is:
1 download the emui 9 firmware
2 extract RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img from update.app
3 flash it using the command
fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk /path/to/RECOVERY_RAMDIS.img
Is this correct?

I've already flashed the eu rom using this recovery, there was no problem. The above issue is coming while trying to create a backup.
So I did as instruction and flashed MIUI EU Stable ROM. For some reason when setting up the phone, any PIN, password or pattern I set up is good to go. But can't use it to unlock the phone or inside setting, it will tell me that the password is wrong. I've factory reseted multiple times to make sure i got the password/PIN correct. And it won't let me set up fingerprints as well. So I did some reading and maybe the problem is because MIUI only allow setting up PIN/fingerprint when device is encrypted? and the last zip file decrypted the device?
Anyone can help me with this? Thanks!

Hi, can you please make a twrp for cc9 meitu edition (vela)?
cc9 meitu version does not have any twrp or alternative rom. only chinese.
Alternatively, If you have the time, knowledge and motivation, maybe you can post a detailed tutorial on how you have created this twrp, [Recovery] TWRP-3.3.1-0709 XIAOMI_CC9-CN-wzsx150?
maybe I can try to port one myself based on your tutorial.

2. Extract ADB.rar to Drive C (Put the recovery and vbmeta files in ADB Folder) vbmeta link Below
3. Connect Phone To PC with USB Cable
4. from Start run CMD and type cd:\adb (pres enter) And type the following Commands :
fastboot devices

fastboot flash recovery Twrp-3.4.2B_toco_by.alex.msk1407.img (you can rename it to twrp.img) -LINK BELOW (Many Thanks To Alex msk)
fastboot reboot recovery
5. in twrp: wipe-> format data -> Type yes and tap enter (blue key)
6. Copy xiaomi.eu rom and magisk.zip to phone
8. in twrp: install rom and magisk.zip
9. in twrp: Boot to recovery (the phone is restarting to twrp again)
10. in twrp: reboot system

Yes, cant decrypt -> probably can't update.
Even if you do use OTG to read the .zip...
Will it overwrite to encrypted partitions? Won't that break the system?
Or
Will it boot fine - but will the updated ROM be able to read the probably still encrypted user data?

I have a Redmi note 8 with xiaomi.eu but I think I can help you. In order to update you flash the new zip. It just overwrites the system partition not the data. 2) Once I'm able to boot on official ROM, I flash TWRP
3) Format Data + restart TWRP
4) Copied ROM and flash Xiaomi EU rom
5) Restart to system immediately after flashing ROM. Managed to boot Xiaomi EU rom.
6) Reboot to recovery and flash magisk

I think he did it with the miflash tool. I had to do it so because I stucked in Fastboot mode.
I also had a problem with metadata. I have recovery aleks.msk, can enter fastboot but nothing else. Miflash does not work, uploading the firmware via recovery does not get up.
In fastboot mode copy latest xiaomi.eu zip (not the fastboot, the regular one)to the phone and flash it in twrp - reboot to system

Reboot into TWRP, allow system changes... if your not prompted, in TWRP go to Mounts and make sure Mount System Read-Only is NOT checked, then from the main menu go to Advanced - Terminal and enter:
echo SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu (exactly as entered, only space is between echo and SYSTEMLESS)
Hi,
which rom are you trying to root? Also try use Magisk not supersu.

I try thank's
I have Flash recovery twrp 3.2.3.0 and now recovery start with Vol + and Power
I have try install magisk 20.1 but I have take this error.
One strange things(for me) the system was restored and erase all data
Your data was erased when you unlocked the bootloader. The magisk gives that error because you flashed supersu. You'll have to either reflash stock rom with miflash but without locking the bootloader or flash custom rom.
