[Random Idea] can ir blaster besides ir camera be used as remote. - Xiaomi Poco F1 Guides, News, & Discussion

poco has great hardware but it can be used to its extreme. and one of those pieces include The IR emitter and sensor.emitter can be manipulated to be used as regular IR blaster which requires some deep level coding.

What IR emitter? There is none. The device has an IR Camera, which captures infrared - it doesn't emit anything.

I thought there's an IR emitter between the IR camera and earpiece? If not, how would face unlock work in total darkness?

There is ir emitter, if one can't see it working and lighting up then consulting a doctor is better option.
Edit- don't know how ir camera but it lights up in dark for face unlock

Do you mean human eye can see infrared?

Even when it's 100% pitch black, anything with a temperature above absolute zero will emit some IR radiation.

I don't think it was necessary to call me blind lol. But OK, that's weird - I thought it wasn't necessary these days. They developed thermographic face detection years ago, works fine in 100% darkness without needing an IR LED to act as a "flash".

Infrared does leak a little bit into the visible-red, yes. If you look at night-vision-capable security cameras at night you can see a faint red glow from its IR LED's. They're needed on security cameras so it can be 100% clear on everything, regardless of a heat signature. At least that's how I remember it.
But as I said, I find it strange that it needs an IR LED for thermographic face detection. Maybe it's not actually a thermographic camera and that's why it's not very secure, dunno. But I digress.

It uses simple face recognition not any fancy thermographic face recognition it uses to illuminate the face in the dark comming to the led as hardware is concerned yes you can use that led as ir transmitter for a remote but it should be able to accessed by developer so that the app can talk with it but I don't think it is possible with current access

Or you can just get a usbc IR remote for €3 from AliExpress and use that.
Pretty sure that the IR from face recognition doodad ain't gonna be ideal for remote control purposes.
If it were Xiaomi would surely have included IR blaster functionality

light sensor to lock the screen

hi there,
i wanted to know if there's an application for locking the device when the light sensor feels dark.like when you put it in your pocket.that's so usefull.thanks.
no light sensor on these

actually there is a light sensor, there is just no proximity sensor. both the pure and the touch diamond 2 have the ambient light sensor.

but i have no idea with the setting.

it is not free
search for Touch Incall Tweak. Maybe it can be modded to include locking based upon light or lack thereof.
Touch Lock Pro has it and its free.
And it works excellent, try it

[Q] ipad 2 proximity sensor like function

Hey I was just wondering if it is possible to gain the same function as the iPad 2 has with its proximity sensor with our gtablets since we have a light sensor?
I'm not sure if it has already been asked before or if the devs are working on something similar but to me it would just make our already amazing tablet even greater
I'm not 100% sure, but I think a proximity sensor requires both a transmitter and a receiver. I assume IR.
I think iphone & ipad use light sensor to make a trick on the proximity sensor, if the light get completly darken it will assum that the device is close to a hard surface, ie: the face in the case of the iphone, so i assume that it will be posible to do so with a little software trick ... btw, anyone know which ROM take the advantage of this light sensor setting in use? don't see it on Vegan ..

Autofocus and laser autofoucs

This is probably a silly question but went out this morning to take some shots and if I am honest I wasn't that impressed with the auto focus. My previous phone was an s7 edge so i have probably been spoiled bu the superfast focus speeds but considering this has phase/contract and laser autofocus i thought it would have been faster.
At times I did feel it struggles to find focus, this makes me question the laser auto focus. On my previous LG G4 and nexus 6p you could actually see the laser auto focus working, a small red light (one assumes the laser) emits from the black square near the camera module on both those phones but i don't see anything from the xz premium in dark or light conditions. Are you supposed to see the laser auto focus on the these units? Can anybody try there and see if they can see it.

Try shooting the back of the phone with a camera. Most of the cameras can detect infrared light while humans can't. You will see it as a purple dot.
It's better to use another phone for this because some stand-alone cameras use infrared filter.

Yeah you're right its was there firing away.
Still a fantastic camera even if i am being picky about the auto focus.

Phones that can see IR Light

I'm currently working on a project and I wanted to see if anyone knows of a list of phones that don't have an infrared (IR) filter on the main camera. I'm currently working on a project where I need the phone to be able to see IR light. Can anyone provide a list of phones or phones that you personally know that can see IR light with the main camera? Thank you.

IR Blaster - Code learning and finicky aiming

Hello!
I have recently apgraded to an F2 Pro and so far I'm in love. I upgraded from an LG V20. Both of these phones have an IR Blaster.
The V20 was able to scan/learn ir commands by pointing a remote at it's blaster. Can the F2 Pro do this hardware wise or just software limitation ? I have not found this option in any remote app so far.
The Poco also seems to have a weird blindspot? I usualy need to point it slightly up/down/left or right of the device for it to pick up the signal. Never had this problem on my V20. Might be just my unit though, that's why I'm asking.
You'd need an IR receiver to learn the ir commands, and the poco f2 doesn’t have a dedicated one. However the cameras on electronic devices are sensitive to light in the infrared spectrum, and you could use the regular cameras as a hardware fallback. The miui remote app doesn’t have this functionality, but it sounds great ! hopefully someone will make a third-party / opensource version !

Don't you need really high FPS to use camera to get usable info from camera as an it receiver? Do you know if any apps actually do that?
Its not possible. Yes, in Theory (and only y theory) a very high speed camera could doing some magic. In first instance, you will need a camera camera of 50000fps in the best case. And this is only de first problem.

Well that makes sense, I learned something today ! In that case I see how it would make things more difficult. I don’t know of any app that does this, sadly.
