Is anyone else having DST issues? How is a smart phone in 2018 not able to detect DST? For some reason, my phone and weather app cannot pick up the correct time today. I've restarted, taken the SIM card in and out, and nothing works. I'm in Los Angeles.
Mine worked just fine. When i woke up this morning, it had changed it self automatically.

It seems I have an issue with my phone and I would like to know if it's only me or if there are others or there.
Every time I reboot my phone, my phone's clock reset. And not only the time, but the date changes to January 1970. I tested this on various roms, stock-based and aosp-based with same results.
I noticed that as soon as I have some sort of internet connection, it retrieves the current date and time and updates itself. But, if I put my phone on airplane mode and then reboot, then it stays with the incorrect date and time.
Also, I'm not sure if this is related, but my time zone, when retrieved from Verizon's network, is Pacific, when I'm in mountain time. I have to manually change the time zone, but even after changing it, my clock keeps the mountain time. So, I also have to fix the time manually.
Please guys, let me know it it's just me or of this is a known issue on our phone. Thanks.

Same issue here...
I can't help you with your issue but I do seem to have the exact same problem. My phone has been doing this since I got it in July. Were you able to resolve the problem? I just started a thread about it in the AT&T S3 forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063156&referrerid=4789157
It's one of those issues that is easy to just ignore since its not often that you need to reboot with out an internet connection but I'm worried that this might cause other issues, especially with files being modified during the boot process before the clock can be set.
Either way, it would be nice to get it resolved while I'm still under warranty!
I have never tried a reboot in airplane mode buy my nandroid backups always have a 1970 date stamp on them

I have seen my phone start up with the time/date way off, then seconds later it sync's and corrects itself. No reason that I can put my finger on, just every now and then..Mostly with custom roms..
Hi!
My girlfriend (who is forever having problems with phones) just bought a Nexus 5 after her Galaxy S2 spontaneously gave up on life, but despite showing a full signal it seems to be unable to connect to a network (it's supposed to be on the UK's Orange network). When it first started up she said it had a screen saying something like 'activate data services', but that after 10 minutes or sitting on that screen and apparently stuck, she skipped it. The phone is showing a full strength signal, but no calls/texts or data works.
We've been unable to get back to that screen, even after doing a factory reset with/without the SIM inserted.
Anyway, I figured it was an APN issue, so I've tried setting it up for her, but whenever I create a new APN and try to save it, it just disappears and loses all of my settings. I've had a look around XDA and it seems a few others have been having the same issue, but nobody I've seen has posted a fix. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Tried it with my SIM in her phone and it works fine, so I guess it's a SIM issue. Sorry about that. She can call the phone company tomorrow.
Hi all. I have a weird issue that after Googling it doesn't seem anyone else has had.
The issue started earlier today, in the morning. I was using my phone on the WiFi and it was working phone, then my phone crashed, restarted itself.
I noticed it wasn't connected to the WiFi, went to the WiFi settings and where it usually says the list of networks it said "Turning on WiFi" and the slider at the top was greyed out so I couldn't turn it off.
I tried airplane mode and that didn't help. But the phone was working fine on my mobile data so restarted.
Now the weirder part starts. I basically have an issue where, if I turn on the WiFi, my phone crashes, or doesn't act like it's turning the WiFi on.
Even going Settings and then pressing on the WiFi option freezes the phone.
The problem started when I was still using 4.4.4 however since the problem developed I've used my mobile data to download the updates and now have 5.1.1 I think.
The problem persists even after updating to the most recent version and doing a factory restore. The phone is currently completely stock with nothing downloaded on to it. All I did is go through the first time setup for the device.
The WiFi currently is off, and the phone is working however it won't connect to my data, it has the signal bars and then an ! instead of a 4G icon.
If I try to turn the WiFi on it crashes the phone.
The phone is still under warranty so I plan on contacting LG on Monday however it's currently 3:34 AM on a Sunday so I have a day until I can call them and was hoping for a solution in that time.
Thanks in advance. I have the phone to hand so anything you want me to test I'm able to.
There is some information I didn't type as I don't know what is important was trying to avoid a wall of text so if you have any more questions I'll answer I best I can.
Thanks for reading, I hope you can help!
I got the Sept Software update which installed baseband version G955USQS5CRI4, and now the 4G/LTE icon just shows the no signal icon. Calls work so it is apparently just an icon issue, but is anyone else having this issue?
Apparently it killed the data connection as well now, calls do not work with WiFi and WiFi calling off. This is bad.
Just checked my phone and all is good.
Yeah, not sure what happened but I had to reset all network connections and reboot 3 times for it to work again.
I've tried doing a factory reset about 10 times as well as network specific resets, and I have not had any luck resolving. They also replaced my SIM car4d with no luck. Any one else having this issue had luck resolving in another way?
I responded to another thread about this... having same issue. Here was my reply:
I am having the EXACT same issue. I don't remember when the last update came through, but it was Feb 16th when this started happening to me. I was moving to a new apartment, phone battery down to like 10%, so I turned the phone off and put it away. A few hours later I turned it back on and no cell connection. No bars, just a circle with line through it. Settings > About Phone > Status > SIM card status = shows Network "unknown", Mobile network type "unknown", Service state " Radio off", Mobile network state "Disconnected".
My SIM works in a Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note 4, so I know it isn't the SIM card. I've tried everything I can think of to turn the radio back on, replaced the SIM tray (original is cracked), even got a Freedompop SIM just to test, and yeah, it won't work. The cellular radio isn't turning on for some reason.
I will say, a couple days after it happen, I turned the phone on without SIM tray, and I could see empty bars, like it was trying to work. I turned it off, put my SIM in, and it worked... until my replacement SIM tray came in. Turned it off, replaced SIM tray, and it is off again.. for last 2 days. I just happened to turn it on that day and it was working, turned it off some days later and it stopped again. I don't know why.. no apparent reason. So, last couple days I have been turning it on and off, on and off, hoping it comes back on.
If ANYONE comes up with ANY ideas, please let us know!!!
Yea if anyone comes up with a fix for this that would be great, since that update my phone aswell has trouble deciding allow calls to ring or go straight to voicemail. Also noticed a delay in receiving text messages, unsure. I really dont want to have to replace my phone because of a broken update. :/
My Huawei Y9 has recently started to intermittently stop recognising either SIM card in the dual sim slots. Once this happens I can restart the phone or set to aeroplane mode for a number of minutes and this usually resolves it for a short period before the exclamation comes again in place of the mobile reception.
I have confident of both SIM cards functioning well as I have tried them in another phone, and also tried a different SIM card in my phone and the error occurred again. So I am sure that the issue is with the phone.
I have followed the following steps but to no avail:
Restarting phone
Removing SIM cards
Checking other SIM cards
Running in Safe Mode
Clearing Android Cache via Recovery mode
Reset Network settings
Checked for IMEI (It is there when the card is working, and null when it isn't)
Have the latest updates installed
Other than a factory reset (which I don't want to do until I have exhausted all options), I am not sure what to do. The phone is only six months old and still under warranty, however it was bought in Cambodia and I am now living in Brazil so I don't think they have service options readily available here.
Any suggestions?

Hello Oisin
I'm facing the exact same issue here. It's started the day after the last update (FLA-LX1 8.0.0.124 (C185)). Please tell me if you have the same firmware.
Well, I also tried Factory reset and even flashing the same official firmware doesn't solve it. I talked online with Huawei support (from the app) they told me that It's a software issue and to do all kind of reset... But it was un vain.
From my point of view, the culprit seems to be an built-in app that ask for location or network Time. But every time it does the phone reject the sim as you said earlier. Note: It's still do it even with the location disabled (asking for network time)
I spotted the app last week, It's com.hisi.mapcon. As I'm typing this message, I decided to revoke this app authorisations to modify system parameters. I'll tell you if that solves the issue
Otherwise I'm planning to downgrade the firmware (the last step before I break this phone out of anger)
See ya

Revoking the authorisations didn't make it. Now I will debloat this app... It seems kind of useless while being troublesome
For now, I just disable location. And there's a little trick to keep your signal on. While disabling location, soon after you'll get a notification tile that the phone need location enabled. At this moment the signal will disappear. Don't enable the location just keep the notification as is. And toggle the airplane mode on for 10 secs. Then toggle it off. Tadaaa! Signal is back... It'll stay on as long as you don't erase the notification or enable location .... Still, if you reboot your phone, you have to do it again... This is just a "patchwork" while waiting for a solution but it works

Hi Mumiby,
Thanks for the help and reply.
I have FLA-LX2 8.0.0.126 (C636). I can't pinpoint the exact time the error began unfortunately. However your work around fixes the issues as you suggested. Thanks for that. Although as you said, it is only patchwork and not a long-term solution. Any idea if Hauwei are aware of this or likely to fix it?

Hi.
Well, I came here on xda to post this problem because Huawei didn't react to this issue. Maybe there's not enough people complaining about it to make a move. I bought my phone in Morocco and now I'm in Congo DR. There's no Huawei Customer Care here and reporting to the online service is sort of hopeless. As I told you I'm planning to downgrade the firmware so that I can give them evidence for the bug

OK, just to note, I can delete the notification of location services and the SIM error does not return. Only if I restart the phone or turn on location. I have passed this information on to Huawei Cambodia also.

Do you still have signal right now ? Maybe It's my imagination, it seems to me that when the phone asks for location it enable it for a few secs maybe to warm it up... I'm not sure about it but if the location app or the gps driver (maybe the radio) is the culprit then it does make sense. Logcat would be helpful for investigation.
I deleted the notification too. Let's see how long it last

Well last night the battery died and the phone was restarted. I left the location services off, and since restart the sim is working fine. So it is clear the sim not being recognised is directly related to the location services being on.

So we just have to wait an update from Huawei. Btw I still have signal without the notification... It's kind of weird because before around 20 minutes after deleting the notif' it would get back and kick out the signal .... Maybe we did find a better workaround ?
Hey Oisin
Does the workaround still work? Did you have some updates ?
Hi Mumiby,
Yes so some updates on my part. Firstly, after my last post I decided to turn on location services again to see how long it would take for the error to reappear and to gather proof of the error. Surprisingly, the error did not, and has not reappeared.
I also upgraded to the latest firmware a few days ago (.128) and all is still good.

Well It seems like the location needed to take a break ....
On my side I still don't have any updates coming, unfortunately I still can't enable the location without network crash but the signal stay on without notification. I hope I'll get an update soon.
By the way, I noticed that there's a lot of people viewing our topic but none of them react ...
At last! Update available the .128 as you
Three days without problems After update. I think it's solved
