I've a Gear Fit2 pro and a Moto Z play. I don't use all the fitness functions on my Gear Fit2, I was looking for a 'cheap' way to get notifications to my arm.
This all works like I expected. Only one thing could be better:
In the car I always listen to podcasts from my mobile phone and so it would be great to be able to control the podcast player or the media player with the Gear Fit2.
Is this possible?

Hello.
I have a little question regarding the music player on the gear S2. I am using the gear S2 to listen music when I am at the sports club. While doing sport, it is not easy to make a lot of manipulation on the watch. However, every time my watch is activating, it is showing the watch face. I have to manipulate to go to the music player if I want to pass a track for example.
Is there any way to display directly the music player when the watch is waking up or a watch face that would allow to directly control the music player more easily ?
By advance, thank you.

Two options:
1. Assign the home button to open Music Player when pressed twice. Settings>Device>Double Press Home Key>Music Player.
2. Use a watchface that includes a "tap zone" that opens Music Player when you tap it. I design my watchfaces to do this.
AFAIK, there currently is no ability to set the S2 to wake-up in Music Player. I have requested/complained to Samsung to include a wake-up to last used app option, and they just laughed at me and said go away pissant.

you can try Music Player S2, it got internal engine to copy any audio files to gear s2 from a phone
Thank you. Affecting the music player to the double press home key button is enough. However, to make it even more easy for manipulation during sport, i finally found and opted for bluetooth earphones that integrate full control button on it.
And yes, Samsung have one of the worst customer's service that can be imagined. It was so difficult to obtain informations about the release of their new phone in Japan... But Japanese customer seem to not forget easily. The popularity of the brand in Japan is bad enough for them to close their unique Shop in one of the bigger town in Japan. They are making great products but are really bad at communication.

You can already control Spotify, or really most music players from your watch. Click on the music widget, go to settings, and find where you change to controlling music on your phone. Once you do, you can skip, pause, change the volume, etc. from the watch. No need for a companion app.

Yup, I know the existing widget provides some basic control to spotify player.
But if you look at the video, this companion app do provide more advanced features.
You can select which playlist to play and also you can jump to any song of your playlist which the build in widget can't do this.

There's a watch app in the Gear store available called "Playlists for Spotify Premium." If you have spotify premium on your phone, allows you to start spotify and change playlists from the watch.
Just spotted this http://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00051414/
Annoying Samsung release this only for the Fit 2 and not the Gear S2.
The stock controller does not give the same functionality and the other app is pants.
Unfortunately, this is just for gear fit 2

Greetings,
T-mobile Galaxy Note Edge (Lollipop ver. 5.1.1)
When playing mp3 music file using the default media player, the music randomly stops playing about a few minutes into the first song. player controls still work (player hasn't frozen), but no sound, nor is there movement from music slide bar indicator. problem is still present when I restart the music app. the only way I manage to get the media player to work again is to restart the phone, then the media function normally. Is there a fix for the default player app, or an alternative player app that can be controlled by the bluetooth accessories (bluetooth smart watch, or headset)? Thanks in advance.
You might consider trying PowerAmp - it's a pretty descent music player app with tons of features. Not sure about bluetooth actually but you go ahead and give it a try - it's a paid app but got trial.
btotaku - Thanks for the advice. I can fess up a "$1.00" for an app. Does this app have full android integration, I mean that can the app functions be controlled externally by bluetooth (volume, rev/cue)?
Not sure about this but hey, download it for free and give it a try for 14 days; if it works and you like it you might consider it.
I have searched for some info on it (if it was planned etc) but found nothing, so: please add Android Wear support!! (the basic media player controls: play/stop/fforward/rewind and volume)
I have been using MX Player Pro since years and it's my default video player, IMO the best out there, but it's sorely missing this feature! (this and Chromecast support but since both my smartphone and tablet have USB MHL, Android Wear support is much more important to me and besides, adding it honestly should pretty easy...).
In the meantime, anybody knows if there is an app, out there, which adds "generic" media player controls to the watch and works with MX Player..?
P.S. I am trying Wear Music Controller and it works with MX Player Pro but I have to open the app manually, it doesn't show up automatically, it's a paid app (I am on day 1 of the 4 days trial period and I will most probably buy it) and it's yet another separate app... In short, built-in support would be so much better.

I find myself moving podcasts to my gear s3 daily, which currently is super cumbersome.
Are there any alternatives at all to move mp3 files to the gear s3 other then the gear android app?
i just want a quick and fast way to move mp3 podcasts to the watch
