Android Wear support (media player controls) - MX Player

I have searched for some info on it (if it was planned etc) but found nothing, so: please add Android Wear support!! (the basic media player controls: play/stop/fforward/rewind and volume)
I have been using MX Player Pro since years and it's my default video player, IMO the best out there, but it's sorely missing this feature! (this and Chromecast support but since both my smartphone and tablet have USB MHL, Android Wear support is much more important to me and besides, adding it honestly should pretty easy...).
In the meantime, anybody knows if there is an app, out there, which adds "generic" media player controls to the watch and works with MX Player..?
P.S. I am trying Wear Music Controller and it works with MX Player Pro but I have to open the app manually, it doesn't show up automatically, it's a paid app (I am on day 1 of the 4 days trial period and I will most probably buy it) and it's yet another separate app... In short, built-in support would be so much better.

[Feature Request]Support DLNA/UPnP??

Can MX support DLNA? This is useful!
The best app for that is BubbleUPnP: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.bubbleupnp&hl=en
I also would like to have the Option "inside" MX Player to set my TV as Output Renderer.
For instance, if iam at my Work Break, i watch something, e.g. it has an Extra SRT Subtitle, and iam at a Position inside the Movie lets say 20 Minutes in,
for when i get home, with Bubble PNP i have to search the Video, i have to Jump Forward to the Position i was, only to see, the the SRT File is not there.
I Tried Imediashare, Pixel DMS etc. no one gets it with the SRTĀ“s.
It would be just perfekt, if you could add UPNP as an Output Renderer, like Youtube or Imediashare. Even other Mediaplayers do it nowadays.
thx in advance.
Youtube generally rides on proprietary Chromecast. Also, if you are truly using DLNA/UPnP, using MX Player won't help. When it's sent to the TV or whatever receiving device, the DLNA standard says that the receiving device does all the decoding, meaning that the receiving device needs to accept SRT subs.
Iam just a regular UPNP user, no chromecast, maybe next year with Screencast to chromecast2, so i can beam MXplayer output "as is" to the Stick.
From what i know, long time a go, i used the Samsung PC UPNP software, that came with my old Samsung TV, guess it was something 6000 series.
From that time i remember good, that the PC Software was able to start "feeding" the TV the Stream, at the last known and remembered Position of the Stream I watched e.g. a weeky early,
same as MX player so perfectly does.
Also the Software , as you say, streamed the SRT file to the TV, and this was accepting it. It was one of the main reasons, i bought a samsung in the first place.
so in short.
1. Starting the UPNP Stream at the Position of the File were MX player stands
2. Send the Srt file that is selected inside MX Player (e.g. the downloaded versions) to the TV
3. Remember the Postion the Stream to TV was interrupted (e.g. TV was shutdown)
if this is all implemented, MX would be king.
Except, BubbleUPnP already does most, if not all, of that. In fact, you can even use BubbleUPnP to manage your library, and also tell BubbleUPnP to use MX Player when playing files locally on the phone. BubbleUPnP will handle the DLNA streaming to the TV/TV-stick.
The PC software you are describing sounds a lot like what BubbleUPnP does on Android.
Tagging @bubbleguuum as perhaps he can comment a but further on what BubbleUPnP can do.
P.S. Hi bubbleguuum! You may or may not remember that MX Player forums used to be on Google Groups, but since last year we've moved to XDA Shout-out to @ktsamy for getting MX Player its own subforum.
I Still dont get, how i would use MX Player in conjuction with BubbleUPNP ?
from what i understand, these are two seperate Video Players, MX is for Phone, and Bubble is Phone and Stream to TV.
You make it sound, like i could/should use both simultaneously ? How would that work in real life ?
Thx for your help.
Within BubbleUPnP, you can specify the local renderer as MX Player.
yeah i tried that, but that is only helping bubblepnp to render the file locally to be able to read the file and then be able to stream it.
I want it the other way arround. I would like MX player to use Bubbleupnp as the intermediate Program to stream to the TV.
Cuz only then i have my last "MX player" known Starting Position inside the video.
If Bubbleupnp searches the Files in File structure, it always start from the beginning of the file, and have to search by hand, where i might was in MX Player.
or can i get bubbleupnp to read out that info out of MX player to jump to the time withing the videofile ? i guess not ?
thx for the help
You should ask that question in BubbleUPnP's support thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14610073
So, somehow, through my involvement or not, i got em to implement some "resume" feature into his Streaming upnp.
But heres the bummer, its useless for my scenario (wich is really so weird ?)
Bubbleguuum: The video resume feature is only implemented for streaming to external renderers.
For local playback, it's up to the video player app used to eventually implement it at all (eg MX Player does it by default),
but it is entirely separate from BubbleUPnP.
so back to square one, for my "local playing and resume later on TV" dreams.
could you maybe make an API for MX, were bubbleguuum could crawl the MX local resume time data for a given file ?
so he could maybe ask for "resume last local time, or External Rendering time", and than resumes at the Time MX Player Throws at em ?
thx for your patience
That sounds like a stretch usage case, as then you would still have MX marked as incomplete, even though you've finished watching whatever it is on the TV via BubbleUPnP.
not if Bubbleupnp could save its resume time back to MX Player over your API.
And it was just a suggestion, to how to solve "my?" problem, of not beeing able, to stream from MX Player to my TV.
I dont want the struggle with Bubbleupnp. I just want, that MX Player could stream something, dont care if i have to buy a googlecast stick, or what ever device. But now i am just stuck, with 2 Programs, doing the same thing. one is now also resuming, nice. but not local ?
and MX player is only resuming local. wth, thats now the end of it ? why isnt MX Player capable of Stream to an external renderer ?
is watching on TV and Mobile such an awkward usage case ? Thx anyway, seems like i am just a dreamer.

Native streaming is something that is on the developer's eventual todo list already. As to his status, I don't know.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/sticky-mx-player-chromecast-t2725253
ahhhh thx. only thing is, that this thread started like 2014. so is there really hope. i dont know, at least, iam not alone anymore with my wish. Maybe with chromecast 2 comin out, MX Streaming development is finished dont know why bubbleupnp is working, and MX not. Its really silly to sit in front of a 55 TV holding your phone, to watch stuff. thats some kind of 2nd screen generation
thx for your patience. iam off

[Help] Send audio over Bluetooth while using MX Player

I'm going on holiday in a few days, and while travelling I want to watch some episodes of the Blacklist. I downloaded the episodes I want to watch, but my audio port on my OnePlus One is broken. I don't want to fix it, because it'll cost me a ****load of money, so I'm looking for another option to watch the episodes on my OPO. Now I'm still owning this Samsung Galaxy S2+, and I thought, maybe it's possible to send the music to my S2+ and watch the episode on my OPO while using bluetooth. I hope this is possible, if so, please let me know.

I had the same issue. The only working solution is to install first from Google Play "Bluetooth Connect & Play" application (author: Carl Parziale). Launch the application, go "tweaks" menu, and select "Start player on basic bluetooth connect only". When you cennected with the car, choose VLC player to play. This way you can see the movie and listen the audio the same time. Unfortunatelly this application - and many others - does not work with MX Player, as MX Player is rather a movie player than audio player.

The OP is something different than you are expecting. The user wanted to play video in OPPO & Audio in S2.
In your case, I have read the description of the app. It just connects the bluetooth device & starts the third party app to play. They support limited apps. If you want to use MX Player, just pair the audio device directly from your settings. Open the MX Player & start playing. Since you device is paired with audio system it will automatically route the audio to your car audio system.

Best Android Video/Media Player? (Identical to Infuse for iOS?)

Hi,
Just got my S7 Edge in the post today
and coming from/abandoning IOS
i feel a little out in the blue
I have been using the Infuse Media app for ios for a long long time
and for me it feels like that app got everything.
what's important for me that i'm looking for is the following
- Play media from NAS/network storage.
- Subtitle support (online and saved subtitles locally).
- Download files/videos from network storage/NAS.
- Chromecast support (maybe AirPlay too)
- Swipe fastforwarding option.
dose anyone know any media app that is identical to the Infuse one i've been using with these functions?
it would be of great help for a new android/samsung user.
Kodi seems to be the most popular alternative for infuse. I haven't used it myself but worth giving it a shot.
Kodi or Plex will give you full media player capability. I just use File Manager HD to browse my NAS, and view thru MX player, which allows substtitles to be downloadsled. When playing thru a NAS, the filename received by MXplayer isnsome weird coded thing, so MX can't automatically locate subtitles, I just enter the name manually and it gets me the subs I need.
You should try the MX Player app. According to me this is the best video player for Android.
I have also migrated from ios recently and kodi is what you are looking for. It's the best on Android.

MP3 stops playing

Greetings,
T-mobile Galaxy Note Edge (Lollipop ver. 5.1.1)
When playing mp3 music file using the default media player, the music randomly stops playing about a few minutes into the first song. player controls still work (player hasn't frozen), but no sound, nor is there movement from music slide bar indicator. problem is still present when I restart the music app. the only way I manage to get the media player to work again is to restart the phone, then the media function normally. Is there a fix for the default player app, or an alternative player app that can be controlled by the bluetooth accessories (bluetooth smart watch, or headset)? Thanks in advance.
You might consider trying PowerAmp - it's a pretty descent music player app with tons of features. Not sure about bluetooth actually but you go ahead and give it a try - it's a paid app but got trial.
btotaku - Thanks for the advice. I can fess up a "$1.00" for an app. Does this app have full android integration, I mean that can the app functions be controlled externally by bluetooth (volume, rev/cue)?
Not sure about this but hey, download it for free and give it a try for 14 days; if it works and you like it you might consider it.

Share you opinion about Chromecast expectations

Hi MX Player users,
We know that many users are interested to see chromecast support inside the MX Player. So, we need your inputs to implement in a better way. We have some basic questions which will help us to understand better.
Have you you ever used Cast feature provided in Android itself? Even with that You can still cast your screen & audio using Google Home.
What's the advantage of separate chromecast option over the android's inbuilt cast feature
If you are not using/intrested Android's Cast feature, what's method you are using to play with chromecast?
What are the chromecast related options you are expecting to be implemented in MX Player's side
Can you share some design thoughts like screenshots from others?
The more you provide the input, we can give you the best from MX Player.
Hey, actually I just was searching if anyhow I could cast my mx player to Chromecast
Hey, actually I just was searching if anyhow I could cast my mx player to Chromecast but not through the phone's cast button in the notification shade because that just mirror's the whole screen and you can't do anything else is you are casting your screen for a movie or something else and also it consumes a lot of the battery too. Whereas a separate cast button,
if it's available on the mx player, would be a great relief as we could then even switch off the phone's display and both the functionality as well as the battery could be saved.
Well there are some good options for casting to the TV like local cast and web video caster but if mx player merges both of theirs functionalities it would turn out to be the most feature loaded and complete video as well as audio streaming app. I hope I'm going to get this app update soon enough coz I've been waiting for the same since long.

Would love to see Chromecast added to MX Player
I understand that you can cast ur entire screen to the device but there is also a way that if you embed the casting feature inside the app so that then you can cast a movie to your TV and have MX Player run in the background so you can use your phone for other things....Granted you have the resources to do so.
I do that now with another app I beta test for called Stream
BTW..yes I'm new here but I have been using MX Player for years and I love it.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge OS 7.0
Yes and yes again!
Please add support for Chromecast.
Thanks

a big thumbs up
yes plz add this feature in mx Player
Usually we can stream from a Google apps like YouTube or partners like Netflix or Spotify. Streaming Chrome browser tab can be laggy, so dedicated app is a way to go. I use PC Chrome browser extension called Videostream. It works inside chrome but looks like standalone player. It streams great and it can use external subtitles. Videostream has mobile app as remote control. We can choose and start video from PCs HD without touching the computer.
I don't know if MX could work with mobile Chrome to cast. Maybe such direct streaming app needs cooperation with Google. On the other hand, Android is Google.
I would prefer a feature like a cast button inside MX. Press button - choose cast receiver and that's all. Video should be moved to Chromecast, so no video on MX itself. MX transport buttons should work as usual. I think auto fit to screen mode should be enough.
I'm not sure about casts like YouTube or Netflix, because they seems to feed directly from the Internet and not from a mobile device. They look like mobile app only controls them. In the MX case, it would be streaming from the device memory, so it will drain battery more anyways. But on the other hand, since it is wireless, the phone can be connected to a charger.
I think there are few features needed but it may be more difficult on a programming side.

The benifet of having chromecast support over mirroring android screen by using google home is that:
You can use other apps (like whatsapp or facebook) while the video is playing on your tv
So please implement this feature, everybody wants it ?
it's definitely necessary
1- You need to be able to output 5.1 (ac3, dts) sound to the TV, av receiver.
2- Video quality in this case is much higher.
3- Use other applications during the video broadcast.
Your player is the best for video playback, so it must be chromecast support. Thank you!
I'm lazy, so having the option to cast from mxplayer via mobile device is great for when I don't want to **** around with my desktop, or if I'm at friends house/work/camp/hotel etc. Give us the option to cast supported formats for now. Work on transcoding later.
It will be great to have chromecast support on mxplayer.
I use chromecast to watch video links on tv, but need to use AndStream apk and AllConnect apk to send it from web to tv, will be grat if there will be an way to watch videos thru mxplayer on tv.
I've rarely ask for help or tips on problems that occur with tech. But, a week ago I used to tether my nexus 6 to my chromecast in my car, and also be able to use the phone to play music, videos back on my car's screen. Now the phone won't pick up my chromecast. I can use other devices, such as phone, tablets that are connected to my cellphone mobile data. Any ideas as to why it stop working? Thanks.

I think that it would be great to be able to cast from the app.
I don't know why you haven't done it sooner. I have been using ES File explorers Chromecast plugin and it's not stable. Please include the ability to cast from your app.

Hi,
It's chromecast & Device specific issue. It's better to ask in the Device specific forum.
I have input on using built-in Android casting.
Like many other's say, the main advantage to using an apps native cast is that you can then use your device for something else as well. Secondly, the screen has to be on the whole time when using inbuilt casting - it's annoying.
Please do add chromecast support to MX Player
Why ?
Many phones do not support built in cast feature of Android. My phone hangs when I try to cast the screen through Google Home
Currently using ES File Explorer's player
It would be great to cast videos to TV with subtitles
Other options are Local Cast ( does not play some formats due to codec issue ), All Cast ( leaves their logo on screen in free version ).
yes,Please add chromecast casting as a feature ,Thank you
Why are there so much questions about why you should add chromecast support.
The Userbase is allready asking for it for years, why are tou STALLING so much.
The USERS want it, and they have PAYED for the app and development, and there has been ONE update in the last year
Support for chromecast would be great! Thank you!

Having extensively used android's inbuilt cast feature on 6.0.1 to watch content on MX Player, I can note the following:
The screen of the phone/tablet has to be on all the time, which leads to accidental input (you press something you did not want to) and reduced battery life
Video playback, compared to apps that have support for chromecast is not as good. Frames seem to accelerate or lag randomly and things that look like compression artefacts appear occasionally
Volume control of the chromecast device itself is a bit quirky: Using android's inbuilt cast feature you have to open an app with chromecast support first (e.g. spotify, or youtube) and adjust the volume chromcast outputs to the TV. The volume changes within MX Player are of minimal impact when using android's inbuilt cast feature, so if chromcast volume is too low you cannot bring it up enough.

I believe something as simple as this would be ok: You're watching a video and you just press the cast icon that appears if a device is available to cast the stream.
I cannot post an image or a link to showcase what I mean as I am a new user
This is the only thing this player needs so far, it needs to have video casting on smart TVs. How can the best video player not have that..while the likes of Samsung video players have it long long ago. Comon ppl. We need this.
