October update problem GPS all time on statusbar - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Since the last update when I'm in the launcher (Google pixel launcher) the GPS icon becomes visible and stay all time until I open something, I tried to updating the Google pixel launcher to the last version and even I did a factory reset and the problem persist, my only solution was turn off the accessibility too GPS to the Google app.
Any facing that issue? Any fix? Because I use at a glance and I need to allow it to use GPS.

Settings
It could also be due to your location settings, Google did EFup the location settings in Pie. You now have to select "Security & Location>Location>Advanced>Google Location Accuracy" and turn that off to put it into "Device only" mode. Also turning off location scanning can help with battery as well. This probably wasn't your problem, but if anyone else is having location issues this might help them.

how fix at a glance pixel launcher.
From one moment to another, pixel launcher does not show me the weather conditions; only the date appears. Could you help me how to solve this in the (At a Glance, Pixel Launcher) Pixel 2 XL

Recents and home buttons stopped working and no notifications appear - any ideas?

Very strange one... My wife's VZW Pixel (I have one too) suddenly experience a bunch of changes that we can't find the trigger for. I just spent a hour troubleshooting every possible thing and I am stumped...hoping for some guidance.
Known facts
1. She changed nothing
2. At least one app (siwftkey) auto-updated... I uninstalled it but that didn't fix it
3. She was on the December patch when this happened. I updated to Jan but that did nothing.
4. Device is stock, unrooted with Nova launcher (I tried the pixel launcher and the same issues appear)
Symptoms:
1. Home and recents buttons do not work on any screen... Back button still works
2. No notifications appear on the NAV bar and nothing appears when you swipe down. Sound notifications do work however. No apps are blocking notifications and the individual app notifications are set up properly
3. Double press the power button no longer goes to camera even though that gesture is toggled on
Factory reset is my next step but I am traveling right now and she will need me to set everything back up so I am hoping there might be a fix short of a full reset.
And suggestions greatly appreciated.

Last resort, you can backup apps and data using Helium, then factory reset it. Then restore with Helium. To use Helium, you'll need a PC though.
Any other results on this?? My pixel just hit the same problem! It is in an area that has no internet so it is causing all sorts of issues. I don't know if the two are related at all.

Unfortunately not... Did a factory reset and that cured it. Not one issue since then. Must have been so random app she downloaded that created a conflict.

Happens with me today. I was messing around with the device and when I clicked in a YouTube video link on notification shade the device suddenly soft reboot.
Since them, home and recentes buttons won't perform their actions. They still vibrate and home button animates on touch. Status bar shows none notification, even I knowing they are arriving via notification sound and quick settings shade won't pull down completely. My tiles was rearranged as well. No mobile connection either.
I'm running lattes official Oreo. Never unlocked and never rooted my pixel XL 128.
For me a factory reset through settings did the trick.
Would be very good if Google could light us about this issue. No rouge apps on my device. In fact I'm using a few
his is an Android issue.
Step instructions:
- Download Nova Launcher. If you cannot from the google play store, search for it on Chrome and download an apk version
- Install it (you may get a pop up advising you need to let apps installed from chrome, go to settings and allow it)
- Once installed, click on Open. This should launch the Nova Launcher
- Long press anywhere on the screen
- Choose Widgets.
- Look for the Activities widget and hold and place it anywhere on the screen.
- Scroll down to Setup Wizard. There's two, one that's "Setup Wizard" and the other "SetupWizard" without a space. Choose the first. There should be an option under it called ".SetupWizardUpgradeActivity". It might be slightly different for you pending the version OS you have but that's what came up for me.
- Select that to create the widget shortcut then click to open.
- This will bring you to the setup wizard and then just click Next all the way through (turn off any preferences you may have in the past)
You can uninstall Nova Launcher afterwards if you want. You don't need to set it as default.
Perfect!!! Thanks.

Nougat GPS Problems with certain apps (Pokemon Go, Weather apps)

I'm wondering if anybody else is having similar problems.
Upgraded to the T-Mobile Nougat 7.0 OTA update. After that, I'm having constant "GPS signal not found" errors in Pokemon Go and my weather widget (1Weather) is having problems finding my location to update. Restarts don't do anything and this problem only happens periodically. Sometimes the apps work! They worked perfectly fine in Marshmallow.
Other GPS apps like Google Maps and GPS Status are working fine; pinpoints my location to within 20 feet. I've tried clearing and re-downloading AGPS data, un/re-installing the malfunctioning apps, clearing cache, data, revoking all permissions to re-enable them. None of that works.
go to Setting > Apps > select app you want > Permissions > disable GPS Permission
and reopen the app and check if it crashes or asking for permission again.
try this solution with restart and let me know if problem remains
Good Luck

:good:
It asks for permission. I grant it. I get, "GPS signal not found".
Update: Sometimes a toast popup comes up that says Google Play Services has stopped responding (crashed). When this crashes, it seems to fix the GPS issues. So I guess now I just have to wait for a proper update for Nougat and the S7...
I have this same issue (same setup as well). I haven't opened my weather app yet (rather just look at the sky ), but I do have constant issues with Pokemon GO. It will just sit there endlessly trying to get the GPS signal, but it doesn't have issues if I am moving.
I have found multiple reddit threads and Samsung support threads on the GPS issue with no luck.

I have been reading up on all of them today, as I normally have zero issues while sitting at my desk. I have toggled many options including optimize battery usage, location itself, clear cache, downloading GPS status and toolbox, and rebooting.
Right now the changes I have made from default are turn off the new app power saving monitoring (settings>battery>3 dots>advanced settings>disable app power monitor), turned of wifi scanning and bluetooth scanning.
The root of my problem was attempting to use the pokemon go plus. It allows the app to use the location of the device in the background while the screen is off and the app is not in the foreground. It was not lighting up every 5 minutes for the pokestop like it normally does. Going to maps, I discovered my location was way off. After opening the app, it would correct itself after a few seconds, but other times it would not.
This is also affecting smart lock (unlock) which allows you to choose locations where your phone does not require a password or fingerprint to unlock. It had always been flaky, but lately actually worked fairly well.
GPS issues is far from the only issue. I see monthly updates coming to us for a while (hopefully carriers will be right behind)
turning off battery optimization for locationservices seems to have made a difference. Smart lock is now working consistently and I am no longer drifting in my app. I also rebooted right before making this change, so that could have an effect too. I am going to leave it like this for a couple days to see if it helps. This makes sense, as the doze feature in nougat got reworked.
If you go to the Location settings, you'll notice that the "Locating Method" will randomly change between High Performance, Battery Saving, and Device Only. Pokemon Go is not compatible with Battery Saving, so if you get that error message when you know your GPS is enabled, go to Location settings and switch the Locating Method to either High Performance or Device Only. (Quickest way to do that is to press & hold on the GPS icon in the notification shade, which'll take you directly to the setting you need to toggle.)
The problem I'm having is getting that setting to stick. It seems to randomly change its Locating Method throughout the day, and I can't figure out how to force a static setting.
Here's what I've figured out, works 100% of the time:
1. Go to your device administrators and disable Android Device Manager (ADM).
2. Force Close Google Play Services.
3. Re-enable ADM.
4. GPS works now.
This thread is old, but the annoying problem persists.
I have this damn "GPS Signal not found" in Pokemon Go, too since i updated to Android 7.0.
Outside the GPS works fine and a have no problems. Inside buildings i have trouble with this damn bug since Android 7.0.
Sometimes it workes, sometimes not. If the phone is laying flat on the desk, the error comes up. Then i take the phone up and shake it a little bit, then the error goes away. After laying the phone back, the error comes up again.
Stopping google play services, clearing and updating the AGPS data and reassigning the permissions to the app didnt work.
Is there possibly a new useless battery saving feature in Android 7.0 thats checks for the accelometer and stops the gps service if there is no motion ?
I disabled the battery saving feature completly in the settings.
Has someone got successful rid of this damn error ? Or do i need to flash Android 6.0.1 for better gameplay ?
Any updates on this issue?
There seems to be lots of problems with GPS on these devices, and also on devices with similar chipsets (looking at you, MSM8996) all over the Internet.
Zero solutions so far :-/
I am suffering something similar.
I have tried Sygic, Here maps, Google maps and Waze.
Basically GPS location is turning on-off every few seconds (not check mark, But signal is turning on off)
For a while GPS finds location, guides me, Then arrow just stops. After few seconds It finds location again (I will have moved few 100 meters further by then, So display suddenly jerks to new location).
Very annoying.
I am running lineage OS 14.1 (Android 7.1) on Zenfone selfie ZD551KL.
Have already tried various builds of Lineage along with full format.

[SOLVED] Extremaly delayed push notifications

[June 25 2018]
It looks like I solved my problem by reading about push notifications here:
https://help.moengage.com/hc/en-us/...not-receiving-push-notifications-sent-by-you-
It got me thinking that GCM service in my Nokia 7 plus is not properly connecting with Google’s servers. So I looked around how to hard reset my device using this tutorial:
NOTE: [THIS WILL ERASE ALL YOUR DATA. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR FILES FIRST]
http://www.techeligible.com/2018/05/27/unlock-pattern-nokia-7-plus/
select Wipe data/factory reset.
After restart configure your phone as a NEW DEVICE. Push notifications seem to work as they should. They are waking the device from sleep mode immediately.
This method will most likely work for all Android devices.

I really like this phone but the push notification problem just kills me.
When phone is in sleep mode push notification don't wake it up.
Just leave the phone on the desk for 15 minutes and send yourself an email from different device.
Same applies to WhatsApp. If someone sends me a message it can take half an hour before phone will show notification.
This is frustrating and apparently there is no fix.
I did even factory reset and the problem persists.
Tweaks like exclude app from battery optimazation don't work.
This clearly Android Oreo fault.
Google is so fixated to save battery that it castrates crucial functionality
+1 to the delayed notifications problem!
As you wake the device up, the Whatsapp icon also keep showing in the taskbar - "Checking for new messages" quite often.
that also happens at intervals while the device is ON & other apps are being run.
I hope this, the fingerprint navigation (left+right), battery SOT, stability will improve with proper update to Andro-P. and SOON!
Same problem here. "Heartbet" apps dont work either.
Same here! Maybe it's push notifications server problem?
pls. make sure that notification apps have permission to work in back ground as it may be restricted for battery saving

[SOLVED] First post.

Gmail and WhatsApp are excluded in battery optimazation. It makes no difference.
Gmail is a Google app. It comes with system but push notifications are not working properly.
There in no other way to set apps to work in background. At least I didn't find such option...
Didn't work for me. Anybody else managed to fix this?

Anyone experiencing delayed push notifications on Android Pie?
Do you have location enabled (saving battery location setting)? Disabling location can cause notification delays.

I never really turn off location services. Is this setting you are talking about the battery optimization for apps? I can turn that off for location services.
I have 1062 with pie sideloaded and i'm not getting any push notifications from apps except for gmail. Factory reset and setting phone as new device didn't help.

I had the exact same issue and it was really frustrating me. Resetting my phone didn’t help as detailed here. But finally after some playing around i fixed mine
In the battery settings i enabled Adaptive battery and then went into background activity manager. I enabled both auto activate and lock screen on all the apps i had problems with receiving notifications. Now i get all app notifications straight away with no delays

Location problem

Over the last views days I've started to notice that when I unlock my pixel 2 the location icon appears in the notification tray when I start a app like XDA or Facebook the icon disappears and when I press the home button to go back to my home screen it comes back straight away. Has anyone else noticed this problem?
I've noticed the same since yesterday. Location icon shows up every minute or so. I ended up disabling advanced location.
I've disabled location completely. I'm guessing it's a Google app that is causing it but not sure which, the only ones I've updated recently are YouTube, health services, play music, Google and keep.
Edit
Looks like a issue with the Google app. I uninstalled it and the went back to normal, when I updated it the problem came back.
I had the same issue, turns out it was the Google beta app for me. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the stable version

Launcher keeps switching back to Default Launcher - Help :-(

I'm noticed a really odd issue.
I've finally switched to gesture controls and I'm finding that if i turn the phone off and back on the system switches back to the 'default' launcher and also every now and then the 'home' gesture will switch to the default launcher
Usually launcher is 'Action Launcher'
Anyone else having the same issue or any idea how to solve this?
Note: I didnt get this issue when using virtual buttons.
Yes, I've experienced this and it is a known Oppo issue. You can get around the problem by doing the following (although you'll have to repeat it whenever you reboot the phone).
1. Go into settings -> App management -> Default app and set the Home app to System Launcher.
2. Repeat the above but this time select your launcher of choice.
It's not at all clear why this should work but, as other users also report, it does.
My Joying Head Unit will operate correctly for a while but then reverts to the stock launcher. I do not have gestures turned on. Happens for Car Launcher Pro and Agama as well. Updating firmware fixed the problem for a while, but a month or so later it is back. Any thoughts?
Same problem here, just started recently.

Can you think of anything that may have caused it? I updated a number of Apps (including Google Services, Agama, etc) just prior to the problem occurring this time. I had automatic updates turned on, but have since turned them off.

I haven't touched it in months, I had Nova launcher running without any problems since Feb. One morning last week, I turn on my truck and the stock launcher loaded. Now everytime I change default launcher it revert back to the stock one. Ive also tried web launcher guru, same thing.
