Hello recently had to send my phone away to vodafone for repair as the volume button snapped somehow, anyway i backed up all my data using sprite bac up tool which was provided on a disc with the phone.
It restored my phone to how i had it before but now i can't go on the internet or do anything related with data, weather, mms, updates etc. When I go to communications and click data the loading symbol comes up but then nothing happens and the data will not turn on.
I have tried restoring to manufactuer defaults and the data then works but as soon as i restore my bacup it stops working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Are you restoring your backup to the same ROM version? Was this a full system backup including registry/etc?
It was a full bacup including all windows and program data. I dont know if they changed the ROM version as I dont know what was on it before it went for repair. I dont know why they would of needed to flash it for just changing a button. Unless there was an update available i guess?
I tried a bacup which didnt include the windows directory and it still had the same issues
thanks for your reply
anybody have a clue?
previously, i tried to install some theme in my D2g , but sadly it got failed and stucked in a boot loop.
then i used the nandroid backup to restore the "system" file only,
after that, my phone could successfully boot up as normal.
but now i got some strange issues,
first, i cannot reboot recovery, it just freeze in the white motorola icon.
second, i cannot add contact other that google account, i want to add facebook as the profile pic source, but failed.
third, the motorola widgets , like calender cannot add into the homepage, it just no response after press add widget. i am not using launcherpro , just as same as
the time before restore.
is that i must flash sbf, and this is 100% work?and bring my phone to normal?
Yes, the SBF will turn your phone back to 100% stock, like it came out of the box. And looking at your issues, if you cant even get back into recovery, then it def sounds like you need to SBF. Then maybe after you've SBF'ed you can do your restore again, but this time the full restore.
Do you know how to flash sbf? I afraid I will do it wrong again.
Can I just use the hard reset in the privacy setting?
The factory reset will only erase your apps, personal data, etc. As for how to SBF: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770224
I made a full nandroid backup on twrp about a week ago which included every option including EFS, when I went to (fully) restore the backup due to a faulty ROM it got stuck at 36% and wouldn't continue, I left it overnight to see if it would work and it did not, so I pulled the battery out and went to re run the restore but it has dissappeared, it wasnt on my SD card anymore and I couldn't figure out what had happened so I restored a different backup that only included data, system, and recovery, and when I booted my phone it said it was in Factory mode right away, but it didn't have the yellow text in the background, I have access to my cellular network but when I turn WiFi and then open an app that uses it, the phone instantly shuts off, I was reading online that the EFS was corrupt but the whole folder was empty, not a single file in it. I can't find anyone else who had the same problem and would greatly appreciate any help, I'm quite desperate to get this fixed

Good luck!
Please help. Had pacman running great, thought that I could go back to my previous ROM and use titanium backup to backup game data so I don't have to start over. I made a backup right before going to my po previous ROM. Needless to say I couldn't get the game data. When I restored pacman,it was glitchy.programs would not open or just quit .so I figured reinstall start over. I get the rom loaded and I make a mistake on which backup to restore apps from. So. I pull battery do it again, but it wasn't right more of the same problems. So I figured just use the factory reset feature in pacman to start over. I do it and leave the room. When I come back the twrp screen would come on then turn off then turn back on infinitum. What can I do if twrp just flashes and I many get in.

last night my N5 battery ran out, tried to turn on but he was dead when load and switch off.
I left my N5 charging(off), all night
this morning my n5 boots into "optimizing apps", but stops when reach around 15/20 apps and reboot (3 or 4 times)...
Now, only keeps in android animation .
I can see my data in TWRP, battery %...
I wipe cache/dalvik... nothing
I reflash the kernel (ElementalX 6.17), still nothing
ROM Xtrafactory(M) 6.1....
Any ideas?
Now i'm doing a manual Backup before delete some data and doing TWRP backup...
PS: I think sometimes not switch on if N5 is not connected via USB / Charger, but when i'm in twrp or in bootloop i can disconnect and connect without problems
Thanks in advance
PS2: latest news. After make a backup, I made a factory reset and restore a system-boot-cache partition from old backup. Now the phone boots but i hate lose all my data xD. I want try to solve my problem using my "corrupted" backup for avoid losing data. If that fails, I can always restore this functional backup. Any ideas again?
Some thing may be wrong with the userdata.img partition and the only way I know to fix this would be to re-flash the userdata.img file which will result in complete data loss.
