Hi, would like to ask anyone have Samsung health app on your Oppo phone?
I am using R9s plus.
I am not seeing the heart rate function on the app, not sure if its because of my phone or blocked by Oppo?
Can anyone advise?
Thanks in advance

Samsung's S-apps(S-Note, S-Health, etc..) are meant for Samsung devices because they only work on devices that have Samsung's TouchWiz launcher(Samsung's stock launcher). Your device does not have TouchWiz launcher, this means you can't use any of the various S-apps.
You can try porting the Samsung launcher to work on your device.
Or, you can try porting S-Health you work on your device.

S health is available for non-samsung phones, according to their website.
I am using for steps tracking, but heart rate monitoring mode is missing. Thats why i am wondering whether heart rate mode is missing or disabled for other brands of phone?

I can't see Samsung allowing a fully featured, fully functional S app to be available for non-Samsung devices and even if they did, I can't see them being fully functional on all devices, especially devices that lack the necessary sensors that are required for certain features.

I've been trying to find an app that uses the built in heart rate sensor from galaxy s7 and couldn't find any. I don't want to use SHealth that does a lot more.
Does anyone know an app that uses the s7 heart rate sensor? (if it exists)

You can always install an heart rate monitor from the playstore which uses the camera to get your pulse. But it might not be as accurate as the built in S health and as far as I know, samsung isn't very developer friendly so there might never be a third party app which will be able to use the built in monitor.

Well, things have changed since the s6 came out. Developing for this phone is almost impossible because the snapdragon version bootloader is locked down and exynos one is a closed source.
There is difference between the build in sensor on S7 and any other mobile using the flash???? I mean , S7 uses a special "device" to do it?

Sure there is. This kind of sensor is optimized to read the skin color and detects a pulse.

It's most different because S7's sensor uses red laser instead flash.

Hey, if this is any help for your cause. The S7's heart rate monitor is a Maxim Integrated MAX86902 (From the Specifications PDF that I found online) "The module
communicates through a standard I²C -Compatible interface."
This one uses the built-in sensor

What a great app! It's a life saver! I thought my note 4 heart rate sensor was dead as shealth reads once after reboot or sometimes won't read at all even after I flashed stock firmware. Then I started searching the internet for a better alternative.
This app is awesome and consistent with readings. To my surprise the heart rate sensor now turns on read light even before I put my finger unlike Shealth.
Thanks for the app!
I'll keep sharing the story
Even tho this thread is a bit old, I feel your pain and wanted to take advantage of the built in sensor without using Samsung's bloated app.
I jist found this during a search and using the Galaxy S9+ and can verify that it does use the sensor and quite accurately also.
Thanks djrayon

Also, gives It a body sensor permission.
First off thanks to OP for starting this thread. Sadly the S Health app on my S7 recently updated with requirements to make phone calls and access my contacts. I had been using the S Health app since my S4. Still such demands are a bit much for me. So finding this thread is awesome.

Hello Guys,
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy grand prime (SM-G530H) and I bought Samsung Galaxy Gear S2 classic smart watch. I tried to download the Samsung Gear from the internet. I can pair the watch with my phone through Bluetooth well, but when I use Samsung Gear application to connect to my S2 watch, a message appears "Gear Not found".
please, try to help me to connect my phone with the watch, since I can't buy another phone nowadays, since I'm really broke. I just wanted to try out that watch and paid all what i had to get it.
Thanks in advance
Peter
Are you just rooted our have you installed a custom Rom? Also have you disabled any apps/services?

Hello Tapatalk,
Well, my phone was rooted long time ago. I know now that Samsung Gear S2 is only compatible with Android phones with RAM bigger than 1.5 GB, but I'm sure there is a solution so that my phone can be connected to the my gear watch, since it's just useless now!
Kind Regards,

Try to pair the phone to the watch using the Samsung Gear app first, do not pair the watch to the phone under Bluetooth connections.
Also, there are files that many people remove when they are trying to lighten up roms. Your best bet is to backup your current Rom and flash a pure stock Rom. If you can't get things connected that way, you know it's a device compatibility issue

Hey guys I know it's unrelated but do you think there's an app that can emulate hard keys ie. Volume/Home, so I could like use it for the camera or some kind of camera app.
There're paid apps for it. But I have a non-samsung phone, I can't purchase any.

You may be able to do that with Task2 on the S2 and Tasker running on your phone. I use Task2 to set my phone on vibrate and to do some other things with it.

I can't find anywhere where the teste if it's possible to use and external hrm with this watch like the polar h7 (Bluetooth) do you know?
Is there any way to get access to Samsung pay on European S3 / S3 frontier, too?
We don't get the LTE version here.. sadly.
Please help!
I have Gear S3 Frontier & S7 Edge. My S3 is working great with exception of Samsung Pay. Actually, I don't even know where it is because it does not show up either on my S3 or Samsung Gear App. I tried many times opening the Gear App and select tab Settings and where Samsung Pay should be there is only the S Health tab and Samsung Galaxy App tab. Please help i have updated both softwares and even tried uninstalling and installing to negative results.

Yes, you can use the wall charger that comes with the S7E. I even use it for headphones & other electronics and is ok. The fast charging function will work only with the devices that have this function. In rest, the charger will be a normal (very good) charger.
What about hangout and whatsapp?
Hi, I couldn't find anywhere such an info. This could be a potential reason for me not to buy this watch.
Is it possibile to directly start an hangout chat or a whatsapp chat directly from the watch? I mean can I only answer to a recieved hangout or whatsapp message I guess, but can I even send a new message directly from the watch?
I own a Huawei Watch and, at least for Google hangout, I can start a new chat directly from the smartwatch.
Thanks in advance, this is really important for me.
Where can I download these watch faces? I cannot find them in the store.
Thanks for sharing.

I know the Samsung S7 cannot get it because of some hardware limitation compared to the S8. I assume like the S7, we will not get Samsung Bixby?

I have Bixby on my note 5 for more than a month now with voice (rooted device). The lack of the dedicated button can be overcome with voice activation.
The experience hasn't been terribly exciting though. Very limited functionality. They need to really improve on the integrated services before it comes a strong contender to Google.

I'd actually like to see Bixby replace SVoice on the Gear. I use it pretty often on the Note8 for text input and settings functions.

In its current state Bixby is years behind all the other AI in the market.
I know they are working in some integration with doctors and hospitals for live diagnosis and some other Samsung pay integrations.
Samsung is a hardware focused company. Software will always play second fiddle thus so will development of apps.

Just wondering from anyone who has already gotten hold of this device - does it support ANT+ ? I know oneplus has been a bit hit and miss in this department in their previous phones.
Would very much appreciate if someone could test for me as it will be the decider between this phone and a samsung!
Thanks!!

Judging by the list published on ant+ website, no. Only a handful of manufacturers support it.
But what is your use case for wanting ant+ in a phone? I mean I have garmin devices with ant+ and I've never used it.
My watch has bluetooth and wifi, and my scales have wifi. Perhaps the only device without bluetooth or wifi is the heart strap, which I hardly ever use since the wrist monitor is pretty decent for running.

The list on the ant+ website isnt exhaustive. There are apps available to enable to hardware in a lot of phones - oneplus included. However in the 6/6t there were issued with its stability and I was wondering if it has been resolved in the 7.
why do I want it? So i can use it as a bike computer instead of shelling out £££ for a garmin edge which does the same thing. I need the ANT+ for my cadence and power meters. I dont want to be constantly looking at my watch whilst im riding.
Also, the garmin footpod is ANT+ (although this gets picked up by my watch so is fine).
I don't have a bike computer, but if you want me to test something I have the phone.
If you can explain how (what app etc) I can try it with the heart rate monitor, which is only ant+, no wifi or bluetooth.
