On most android devices, you can't apply stock OTA updates on rooted devices or devices that have TWRP installed, stock updates require an unmodified system partition(meaning no root) and must have stock recovery because stock recovery is what actually flashes the update, TWRP cannot flash stock updates.
Do a Google search for:
"Return to stock (your model number)"
Or, you can try restoring a nandroid backup of your stock ROM if you ever created one in TWRP at any time before the update. Or you can try flashing a custom ROM for your specific device via TWRP.

[Q] I bricked my moto g xt1033 please help!

Hello,
I have bricked my Moto G XT1033 after i wiped out all data and system files.
I had saved a recovery image and after wiping out i can't see it anymore.
since i'm a noob in this can someone help me out ?
Thanks
If you wiped system, you have no OS, so your phone can't boot up.
Since Moto G has no external memory and you wiped data, all of your stuff including your backup was gone.
You need to reflash firmware.
Take a look in Original Development threads.

[Q] I need help with an OTA update on my rooted Moto G?

Okay so basically, today I got the request of installing the Android 4.4.4 kitkat update on my rooted moto g. I press yes and that my phone shut off as it's meant to be. Then this is when the problem occurs; when it turns back on it goes to TWRP and it goes the the normal page of TWRP. I reboot my phone to try again and the same thing happens. Can someone help me to get rid of this problem and to install the Android 4.4.4 kitkat update on my rooted moto g? Will be much appreciated :good:
P.S: The Android update was from Google.
Installing an OTA on a Rooted Phone with Custom Recovery is not advisable!
Sent from my XT1052 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I tried too and the installation stops and comes out an error with /system/framework/core.odex.
I tried to flash again stock recovery but it persists..

Same here. Had to flash stock recovery from bootloader (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) and then reboot, and let the phone reboot and apply the system update.
All is good, and it kept root... No need to have the system breaking TWRP on there.
I get an error while updating, it just says ''error''. I have stock kernel, stock recovery, unrooted... Nothing seems to work, but I think the problem might be that I have a custom boot animation. Is there any way to flash the 4.4.2 stock UK rom?
Use the search guys: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-update-rooted-moto-g-to-4-4-4-t2823106

Do you have a moto g ? I did a factory reset which meant that the update wouldn''t keep shutting down my phone and then it would go to TWRP. So how do I install the 4.4.4 update?

[Q] Official (not manual) lollipop OTA on unlocked moto g xt1033

So, the situation is I have moto g xt1033 with :- unlocked bootloader, rooted, stock rom 4.4.4 kitkat (i mean no custom rom). and fastboot flash mode 41.13 2014-06-16 and philz touch 6 clockworkmod v6.0.4.7
I want to know how to update to lollipop with official OTA update (not manually or sideloaded)?
Why I am asking this?
I got the prompt of official OTA available on my phone and then i clicked yes and downloaded the update. But when i clicked on install, it went in bootloop. It boots on the philz recovery mode and then nothing happens just restart again whatever i select.
As of now, as I backed up, I recovered to the before state of the phone. Do I need to lock the bootloader again or what? The official OTA update is not for me? Then how to get lollipop? I read the soak test etc threads but why not official update ?
Locking the bootloader won't do anything,so don't lock it
Ota update requires:
1.Stock firmware(unmodified and unchanged or tampered)
2.unrooted
3.Stock recovery
That probably happend becuZ your KitKat firmware was modified and you have custom recovery,root..
So just reflash the stock firmware
Do that on your own risk as failing this might brick your phone
Thank me if I helped
Thanks mate for reply.
1. I have stock firmware KK 4.4.4 (though xposed framework & few modules are installed currently)
2. Rooted
3. What is stock recovery? (m noob here)
And i guess reflashing the stock firmware wipes out all user data & apps, right?
Any other alternative which does not wipes out my data?

Actually there is no other way you could do it
i tried everything i could to stop the wipe procedure but it obviously wiped everything
you just backup everything you have got on your internal and external sd card ..
1.Stock Recovery:: Android devices come with Google’s recovery environment, which is often referred to as the “stock recovery.” You can boot to the recovery system by pressing device-specific buttons as your phone or tablet boots or by issuing an adb command that boots your device to recovery mode. The recovery menu provides options to help recover your device — for example, you can reset your device to its factory default state from here. The recovery mode can also be used to flash OTA update files.
2.Custom Recovery::A custom recovery is a third-party recovery environment. Flashing this recovery environment onto your device replaces the default, stock recovery environment with a third-party, customized recovery environment. This is a bit like flashing a custom ROM like CyanogenMod — but, instead of replacing your device’s Android operating system, it replaces the recovery environment.
what you have to do is:
Find the Kitkat official update on the internet accrouding to your [Build number],[model number] [system version] you can get this information in about phone....
If you have asia retail then follow this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700502
ok Here what i am planning:
1. Uninstall all modules & xposed framework
2. Unroot using supersu
3. Restore/reflash stock recovery (just recovery not whole firmware as I already have stock rom)
4. Install the update either manually via recovery or using auto install.
Am i on right path? Pls help me on step 3, any link or step-t-step guide? I couldn't find one, every post is abt restoring whole firmware.
TIA. Cheers !!

You have to be complete stock, no root, stock recovery and kernel.
Unrooting and flashing the stock recovery and kernel will NOT work,
you will need to flash the 4.4.4 firmware first.

Thnx everyone I really appreciate it
Moto G XT1034 4.4.4 to 5.0.2 update problem
I received Lollipop OTA notification for my XT1034 today (Retail Canada) and I downloaded and installed it but the phone got stuck at Motorola logo. I waited for about 45 mins on this screen but got desperate and turned it off (hard reset)
Tried to enter recovery and still it says Bootloader 41.13, tried to wipe cache partition and completed the process but after reboot it gets stuck at logo again, please help!

Did you create a backup of your stock ROM before you flashed the custom ROM? If not, you should have. A prepared user always makes a backup via TWRP before making any kind of changes to the system and before flashing ROMs, that way they can restore the backup via TWRP if something goes wrong.
Can you boot into TWRP?

That is because you triggered Knox, you won't be able to flash anything custom now that Knox has been triggered. The firmware that you flashed, was it the same build number as what you had originally or is it a newer, updated firmware? If you flashed a newer firmware that has a bootloader that can't be unlocked, you will not be able to flash TWRP or custom ROMs.
