Samsung Galaxy S6 (G9200) with Rooted Stock Rom failed to install Gapps - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using Android 7.0 Stock ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S6 (G9200) with a baseband version of G9200ZCS2ERC1 and security patch of ASKS v1.4 Release180122 SMR Mar-2018 Release 1. After I use Open Gapps 23 October 2018 ARM64 Android 7.0 pico in TWRP, I cannot login with Google Play or other Google apps if I use a network that bypasses GFW in China. If I use SSR or other VPN apps on my Samsung S6 to bypass the GFW, the Google Play Service would crash (and sometimes it would turn into black screen if I use multi threads in webview enabled in development options).
If I remove Open Gapps and use Go Google (a Chinese apps that installs Gapps for you), once it installs Google Services Framework, I would get repeated crashing modal popping up. I will need to pm uninstall gsf in adb. Same with installing Google Services Framework 7.0-3037786 from apkmirror or moving Gapps’ gsf from /system/priv-app to /system/app.
Typically I noticed all third party ROMs that I installed required to flash Gapps immediately after flashing the ROM or after doing a factory reset. I think it could be that I already installed a bunch of apps and used the phone for a while now without Gapps. I really would prefer to not backup everything and recover them after a factory reset.
It turns out that even if I do a factory reset and flash Open Gapps in TWRP it would still crash when Google Play Services is running as a result I can’t even get into the system because I would first need to log in once Google Play Services is installed before the system is initialized. Now I think this version of Stock ROM (G9200 for China) blocks Play Services or Services Framework. I will try to install some custom ROM during the weekend and see if I can get it to work.

>> Admins please move this thread if it's in the wrong place. <<
This thread is for you if you flashed a custom ROM and the Google play store and services aren't installed. Please note that this is a fail safe method for getting Play and Play Services if PA Gapps doesn't work for you. If PA Gapps doesn't work please try Cyanogenmod gapps. For Cyanogenmod, CM 12 is for 5.0+ and CM 11 is for 4.4.x.
Also, with Cyanogenmod "only apps which are required to provide the basic Google frameworks are supplied to reduce the download size." You simply need to push the package via ADB and then boot into recovery and install the zip. You can also download the zip directly to your phone.
If neither of the methods above work for your Gapps, then this is where I come in. If your flashed ROM is API 9 (Android 2.3 Gingerbread) or above, this method should work. It also requires some sort of data connection like WiFi or cellular data. Also go to Settings > Security and check "Unknown sources." to allow installation of APKs from sources other than Google Play. You can turn this off when we're done. Directly on your device, first download Google Play Services. Now go to your download manager on your phone. If your phone doesn't have one, tap on the notification. Once that's installed, install Google Play. You can also go here to make sure that you get the lastest version of Google Play, but I'll do my best to update it myself.
Once you have both Google Play and Google Play Services installed, you can go about your app downloading and be on your merry way.

Google play crash with CM12 on OPO

Hi all,
I updated my OPO to CM12 and the google play services can't be updated leading to the notorius battery drain plus several other issues.
It's all stock, less than 1 month old unit, what can I do?
The previous version, CM11 was great, the current YNG1TAS17L is creating only problems.
Please help.

Head into settings > apps > google play services > clear data.
After that head down to apkmirror.com and download Google Play Services and manually update the app.
This should fix the systemupdate service bug on the older version of Google Play Services

I have gone back to previous version.
Try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psvtQB7NizI. I have had to use it several times and still have the trouble. Best case is factory wipe and reload from Google app.

Thanks for your message!
I can't access google play app crashes and I can't upgrade the app via the google play webpage.
I downloaded the latest version of the google play services (it appears to be the same version I already have installed) but I can't clear the data of that app (there is no clear data button just clear cache).
In order to install the apk, all I have to do is select it with a file explorer app (provided I have set the option of allowing the install of non google play apps?
Thanks,
Marc

If Google Play FC, head into settings > apps > Google Play > click clear data and force close
To clear data of Google Play Services, head into settings > apps > Google Play Services > (I think is) manage storage and it'll bring you into Google Play Services app, scroll to the bottom and click clear data. After that, force stop and uninstall any updates you may have for the app.
To manually update/install an app, use a file manager and head into the directory where you downloaded the app and just click on it and package installer will do the job it needs to do
hi all,
**EDIT** 20/10/15
So I wiped my phone again - cache and system. Flashed "cm-12-20150901-SNAPSHOT-YNG4NAO253-bacon" and "gapps-lp-20141212-signed" annnnnd it all works!
I still don't understand the cause of any of my troubles and I haven't tried doing this with CM 12.1 because stagefright is still an issue?
I cannot get Google Play services to function properly on my OnePlus one- have tried Factory resets, installing from a backup, Stock, CWM and TWRP recoveries. installing from apk hosting sites. clearing cache and all data in settings>apps>google blah blah, hoping someone can help me.
- several months ago i flashed TWRP as my new recovery and then flashed SuperSU and I have enjoyed this set up ever since as I love using the app AllStream which requires root access.
- after putting off updating my phone since doing this, I finally decided to update the other day...
- I downloaded the CM12.1 .zip , moved it onto my phone, booted it into recovery and flashed the bastard (figured everything was going smoothly at this point).
- When my phone booted up I figured I would download the Google Play store from the built in browser, and then download all my apps through that, BUT when I logged into my google account the play store said all my apps were already installed???
I downloaded some apps from some apk hosting websites and installed them (allstream, facebook, snapchat and a couple others) they all worked fine.
When I downloaded Google Play services Version: 8.2.99 (8299240) for Android 5.0+ (Lollipop, API 21) from apkmirror.com it installed and then gave me the error "unfortunately google play services has stopped"
every 3 seconds or so.
I have tried flashing Stock, CWM, Philz and TWRP recoveries, doing a factory reset and then flashing the CM12.1.zip. get the error in all cases.
I have tried clearing cache and all app data in phone settings>apps>google PS>clear cache/delete data
I have not had Privacy Guard running ever (some forums have suggested this can cause issues).
**EDIT** 19/10/15
I've realized since posting that I have had Privacy Guard running (i had thought it was a separate app).
I have since experimented with different settings within Privacy guard such as turning the "wake up" and "keep awake" options on or off - no success
No idea what to do now, have I done something obvious? What else can I try? What other information should I provide to help diagnosis?

MicroG/Google Services not working on Chinese Oppo R9 (Chinese version of X9009/f1 p)

On my Chinese Oppo R9 bought in China, MicroG or GoogleServices or OpenGapps bundles are blocked by ColorOS.
I can install MicroG, but when I open it (or any app called com.google.android.gms), a pop up message says, "MicroG need Google Services Framework, download and install the Google Service Framework inmmediately? Abandon Download"
If I choose Download, MicroG and all other Gapps get uninstalled and the system starts to download a Chinese fake version of Google Apps. (I call it fake because the signature is not Google's and the app version is old)
The problem is that not even with the fake Chinese Gapps I can run apps that need GoogleCloudMessaging, such as Signal.
I then uninstall the fake Gapps and install MicroG again. I manage to open MicroG by using an alternative launcher, but it does not get very far. As soon as I tap any option, MicroG gets killed.
I then managed to enable GCM on MicroG by restoring MicroG data with TB.
But Signal still throws the error message that Google Services are not installed (yes, I have FakeGapps xposed module installed)
It seems that the OS is interfering with inter-process communications or something. They (Oppo and the communists) obviously do not want inmates (Chinese people) to be free to use Gapps.
Now I understand it was profoundly stupid to buy a phone in China, but if I get MicroG working I may even use the phone..
Any hint would be much appreciated
@hydroxymoron: You could try my microG unofficial installer.
In case it doesn't work post the full log obtained by the option to copy LOG to SD (not just manual text copy).

GApps for Galaxy S6 SM-G 9200

Has anyone had success in getting google play store / gapps running on the Chinese SM-G 9200 with Android 6.0.1?
Flashing gapps in TWRP fails due to insufficient available storage, all kind of installations i tried (rooted / unrooted) are just leading to crashing google services framework. I set the maximum permissions including change of system settings in the app config. No success.
Anyone had success? Or can extract the google packages from another S6 to test if i can install?
I had success but the path is everything else than straightforward and i would call it a dirty hack and i do not give any guarantee that this will work and not brick your phone.
1. Flash firmware CHC-G9200ZCU2DPL1-20170105164838 with Odin
2. Install TWRP (i used 3.0.0.0). This will result in boot-loop
3. Re-Flash the firmware above
4. Boot up the phone, should work now
5. Restart into TWRP, install SuperSU (i used 2.46)
6. Boot up the phone
7. Use Root Explorer to free up some system space to install gapps. (I deleted the Chinese apps in /system/preload which should give sufficient space but deleting might have side effects)
8. Download pico arm64 Android 6 gapps from opengapps
9. Boot into TWRP, install gapps
10. Boot up the phone. Play store should be there, you can open but i was not able to login
11. I downloaded the Google Installer_2.0.apk typically used for Xiaomi phones and run the app. It will update ServicesFramework, Install Loginmanager and fail with Playstoreservices, but this is fine. Probably it is just sufficient to install the Loginmanager, did not try that.
12. Re-boot the phone. Now It should work fine

reinstall Gapps, is it possible without loss?

hello,
I installed LineageOS 19.1 + Gapps + Magisk , etc ... all was working fine.
I wanted to install Screen2Auto and that didn't work ... the app didn't show on Android Auto
So I tried AA-tweaker, and that's where things went wrong.
It patched some apps that use Android Auto, Google Play Store, Google Services.
Now I can't use the Play Store anymore (keeps crashing)
Is it safe to reflash Gapps via TWRP as I did initially, and will the device factory reset LineageOS ?
thanks
If the gapps reinstallation succeeds, it does not reset anything other than its own components.
