Hi there,
I accidentally deleted some photos from my Honor, I want to ask you how can I recover them.
I tried DiskDigger etc but it seems that I need root for it.
Is there any other option to recover photos without rooting?
If no, how can I root my Honor without wipe all data?
Unlocking bootloader will wipe data so rooting will be pointless for me..

There's absolutely no way to unlock bootloader without wiping data thus you can't root without wiping data.

Hello,
I'm not new to Android but I just crashed my G2 and bought a Z3, so I'm new to Sony.
I have a D6603 running 23.1.A.0.690 with a stock locked bootloader.
I would like to root my device without loosing my data. Is this possible ? I'm not sure I completely got what I should do, could anyone please provide me with some guidance ?
Thanks in advance.
[Guide]{Root}{Recovery} How to Root and install Recovery on Locked BL for NOOBS
Ok thanks, I will give this a try.
Downgrading doesn't erase any user data ?

Not if you do not flash data and choose not to wipe data partition.
You will get a lot of FC's which may make it awkward to go through the rooting process, but I believe some people have managed it.
Root D6603 on .77 by downgrade, no data wipe
Thank you for your quick reply. I'll download everything and try this by tomorrow morning.
I rooted my Nexus 5 with CF-Autoroot. I was under the impression it wouldn't delete the pictures in the DCIM folder and anything else that isn't System related.. Unfortunately, I've lost all my pics and several downloaded files. It even deleted the "Carbon" folder where I had my Helium backups
Is this normal behaviour for the tool?
You will lose everything when rooting. Any forum and any posting that you went to would have definitely told you that. That's normal expected behavior.

In order to root, the bootloader must be unlocked. It's the unlocking of the bootloader that causes the data to wipe.

Okay , thanks. I thought unlocking the Bootloader would spare atleast the Photos folder.
*sigh*
Hi there!
My brother has a Z5 which he has been using for quite some time. Recently he's been wanting to root it and he's asked me to do it. From what I understand, since he's on MM, I'll need to downgrade his firmware to backup DRM files and unlock the bootloader and such, and this process will involve erasing all his data. My question is, is there any way to root without losing data, or failing that, is there any way to back up his apps/app data/conversations/contacts/etc prior to the process? TB doesn't seem to work without root. I noticed there was a built-in Xperia backup tool but I was unsure how good a job this did at backing up all app data and such. Thanks!
Have you tried Kingroot. Just downgrade to ? with flash tool and try Kingroot.

From the flashing I've done, in order to downgrade to LP, you're going to have to wipe all partitions to get the device to boot. You can try downgrading the firmware without wiping anything, but when I tried that I ended up stuck in a bootloop and the only way to resolve it was to flash the LP firmware and wipe everything.
So the short answer you're going to need to figure out a way to backup the data before you try to downgrade the firmware. That said, there is a tool that will backup the TA on firmware before the November patch, maybe you should try that first. Once you decide to unlock the bootloader, it will wipe all data so again, see if you can figure out a way to backup data before unlocking the bootloader.
Is there some data in particular you're trying to backup? A lot of stuff is saved to the cloud or there are other backup apps that might be able to backup certain data.
EDIT: Have you looked at Helium? I've never used it but it might be able to do what you're looking for.
Hi, I have forgot my password for unlocking the phone and now I need help because I dont want to restore it and loosing all the data (pictures and so on). Is there any way, please helpp
I think the only solution is to factory reset from recovery, if you can do that.
SORRY.. i think factory reset is the only way..
also i heard another way which requires twrp to be installed , but i dont recomend it, bcause it caused some serious problems to some ppl..
Do you maybe know if there is any possibility for me to recover the lost photos after?

Unlocking the boot loader to flash TWRP wipes the phone. Factory reset wipes the phone. Bottom line don't forget the password

Yeah sadly with Android 5.0+ you need root to get rid of any lockscreen security. The only way is to factory reset if you want to remove it. But sadly as mentioned rooting would wipe the phone since you have to unlock the bootloader.

No. You can try make backup with titanium backup to minimize afterwipe restoration.

And actually there are one-click root apps that, if they find an exploit, use it to root. But afaik they're very rare by now, and those apps are extremely sketchy (like kingo root,...). So if you come across one WHATEVER YOU DO do NOT install it and use it.
