Hi,
my Mi 4 is stuck at the boot logo. It comes on for approx 1-2 seconds before turning off and looping again. I am unable to access the recovery menu via volume + or by using fastboot reboot recovery.
I am able to access fastboot
I have tried flashing different official miui roms using Mi flash, they all complete successfully but still i cant boot.
I have also tried flashing twrp (multiple versions). these flash successfully, but i cant get past the boot loop to the recovery menu or the OS.
I don't know what to do now, as I dont really want to access EDL mode by using the touch points.

I have found the problem. The battery is dead/dying. If i disconnect the battery, then I can boot to recovery (only works for twrp recovery, stock doesn't work).

XDA,
I am trying to root the stock rom (Cyanogen OS 12.10YOG4PAS1N0). I have thus far managed to unlock the bootloader and am now trying to install a custom recovery - here I run into some problems:
So I downloaded the latest TWRP and renamed it recovery.img - pressed 'fastboot erase recovery' and then 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' -all going fine.
I then unhook the phone, turn it off - press volume down and the power button to boot straight into recovery (not even booting OS) and here's where it gets interesting:
The 1+ logo appears, as if its trying to boot recovery - it hangs for 10s, then the screen goes black and it vibrates. The 1+ logo appears again and it boots straight into OS.
If I keep pressing volume down I am in a loop like this, with 1+ logo, screen black and so on.
So I never actually get into the custom recovery. And if I boot into the OS and press restart into recovery: I get stock recovery.
I've tried CWM. TWRP, Philz, the toolkit, manually - lots of things. I turned off overwrite custom recovery in the developer options - all to no avail.
I hope someone recognizes this problem and can help me out.
Thanks a million,
Michiel.
Not sure if this is your issue, but go to this thread on how to unlock bootloader, install custom recovery and root. See the note in underline at the bottom of item #2, installing the custom recovery. I was unable to get TWRP to stick until I followed this simple method.
Yes, I tried this but when I power the phone down and boot it with the powerbutton and volume button - it hangs on the OPO logo and reboots again into the OS.
Hello everyone
I own the Motorola Moto G ( 1st gen) xt1033 model. I had cm 13(latest release) flashed on it and my custom recovery is TWRP 2.8.4.0 and it was working fine until today after using it for around 2 months.
So what happened today is that while running an application, my Moto G shut down randomly( I don't know the reason for that),and it got stuck in bootloop ( Everytime I start it, the cm logo will appear and then it sometimes even shows my lock screen but instantly becomes black after that and most of the time its stuck only on the cm logo). After this I thought of restoring it back to the original firmware using this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700502
I can get into fastboot mode but can't access the ADB as USB debugging mode was not enabled ( that's the main problem )
So following the procedures of that post, everything worked well on the log of the fastboot (no errors) but after that when I reboot my phone, again the cm logo appears (Even when I flashed it to stock 5.0.2 Lollipop!) and I can even get to my old lock screen sometimes and then instantly it goes black. Even if I try flashing a custom image like stock or some other ROM , it gives no effect as again the cm logo would appear.
I think this has to do with the fact that USB debugging mode was not enabled on it.
Also, I can't enter my recovery. When I use the standard procedure to get into fastboot (power button + volume (-) ) and select recovery, the TWRP splash screen comes then the screen turns black and normal reboot takes place( stuck on the cm head). I tried flashing different recoveries using fastboot (also tried mfastboot) like CWM and even TWRP again but still that bugged TWRP recovery remains.
I can't get to recovery neither can I boot up my phone. I can flash recovery or image files(It shows no errors flashing things, but no effect takes place :/ )
Can someone please help me in finding the solution for this problem? Thanks in advance
Just clear the data, cache and dalvik cache. Phone should boot
I flashed TWRP on my tecno W3 using sp flash tool, after it went successfully, i powered my phone into recovery mode with the right combination of keys. But it wont boot into anything, but when i power it into normal mode, it goes successfully..and then i switch off and boot into recovery mode with the same combination of keys i used after flashing, it end up into stock recovery. It's like my phone is locked from booting into custom recoveries(even after unlocking the bootloader), and then it overwrites the custom recovery with stock after booting into normal mode. Is there any way i can get my phone to accept custom recoveries, and i have no root thats why im trying to flash a custom recovery first.
Also: I tried to use adb to boot into fastboot mode and boot into the same custom recovery i have by the command: fastboot boot <filename.img here>..but i didnt boot into anything, it just boot normally like i restarted my phone. I even tried to flash the img file in fastboot mode and then boot up with the fastboot command mentioned above, but it just boots into normal mode.

Did you install SU/Magisk after you flashed TWRP?This can usually prevent this issue.

No, just TWRP. It flashed successfully, but the phone won't boot to anything, and when i force it to boot into recovery mode after flashing a custom recovery, it doesn't do anything, it just stucks in the Hi logo with a red exclamation mark...and i usually have to press the volume + and power button to get to the menu, but the menu for the custom recovery i just flashed fails to pop up. After that, i boot into normal, and it overwrites the custom with stock recovery again (can tell from when i boot into recovery again after booting into normal by bringing up stock recovery)..
I used the recovery i ported myself using calvik image kitchen tool.
My phone does it too. The TWRP asks me if it has to be reinstalled, if default recovery is taking its place. Flash SU or magisk in your recovery immediately after TWRP.
Today i wanted to install TWRP, so i unlocked the bootloader and flash :
- TWRP-3.5.1-guacamole-Nebrassy-3.img
it worked and then in TWRP i installed :
-wrp-installer-3.5.1_9-0-guacamole.zipbut then it restart and now the phone is stuck with le logo of TWRP which is displayed 0,4sec, and disappears just after for 5sec, and then it reappears... I can turn off the phone but it imediatly reboot to twrp, and even if a do Volume up or down + Power button, it always brings me to twrp.
So i'm stuck in a twrp bootloop without access to fastboot or the system.
If someone has an idea i will be very glad.
Thanks
Finally I used the EDL mod with the special cable. Worked well
I was using twrp in redmi note 4 then I installed disable dm verity after that phone was not opening from the boot screen so I performed a factory reset but gained nothing, I also tried flashing using pc after that but still it is runing in the mi boot page where the mi logo shows, now when I press vol up and power it doesnt let me enter to any sort of recovery mode , I tried another method from the fastboot mode , using command "fastboot reboot recovery" but the phone only exits the fastboot mode but dont enters to any recovery mode. How can I get back to a proper rom environment? NB: I havent setup any custom rom or wiped anything just performed custom recovery and then installed "disable dm varity" and factory reset performed"
