First of all if this is the wrong forum, apologies.
I'm looking at buying a replacement stereo for my car and am looking at some (with a screen) that have Android on them. My question is, with my phone - Samsung Galaxy s6 - having android 7 on it do I need to get the stereo with android 7 on or would I get away with one that has android 6 on it?
Thanks

That's not really how it works.

I just purchased a Samsung Tab 2 7 and am hoping to get Miracast capabilities.
While your enthusiasm is laudable, the fact that only 1 compatible adapter for television makes your question irrelevant give it another year, at which point more consumer products are available, and you'll want a new tablet anyhow

To end this question, yes android 4.2 support Miracast capabilities but not for our device. it just for nexus 4.
Alright so I recently sold my iPod Touch 5g in search of a new media player that can also run on Wi-Fi and has a bigger screen. I also was tired of iOS so Android was my next option.
I bought the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 which looked like a bargain at first but lags like hell and has terrible pixel density. The icons look disgusting...
Could someone recommend me a phone that could be used without a contract, as just a media player? The Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, & Nexus 4 are some of my choices but I'd like more opinions. I want a sleek looking device. Which would you recommend?
A million thanks to anyone who helps me out.
I'm looking to see if the new Android Auto technology is compatible with the Galaxy Note 4 and if anyone here has had any success stories to share. I've read a thread in the past where users were having problems with the MirrorLink technology the Note 4 has built in. I don't want to spend $1k on a head unit that won't be compatible with my phone. My Note 4 is the Retail Verizon Galaxy Note 4 (SM-N910V).
When responding, PLEASE state what carrier you're on. This information is essential, as both Verizon and AT&T have locked bootloaders and are currently not permanently rootable, thus some connection settings may not be currently attainable.
I have Sprint Note 4 rooted and running the awesome Hybrid X Series odexed version
I have mirroring working on a newly installed Panasonic AVH-4100NEX head unit. I got the one without Nav because the navigation systems date the hardware and apps for nav have come a long way and pretty much replace built in nav.
Big help is to be found in the http://avic411.com/ forums. Mine can run video while under way but i will be running nav and YaV1 (yet another Valentine 1 app) rather than fooling with streaming video or DVDs.
Cheers

Thank you for your reply. When you first connected mirroring, were there any signs that the process was asking for root access? I would like to know if root IS required or not.
I only had my truck for an hour taking it from the stereo shop to the body shop. I tested with the AR Unchained Reloaded app, which requires root. When I get the truck back I can test it with my wife's non-root S4 if it has mirror capability. But I think it does not have mirroring. I would search on the avic411 forum. I'll take a look there too.
I have this problem
I had the Chevy Mylink in my 2016 Chevy Colorado Z71 updated through my dealership for the Andriod Auto software update and I'm working with a Samsung Note 4 (AT&T) with 5.1.1 and cannot get sound when playing music. I read the horror stories online about the troubleshooting and was hoping someone had a fix, any help or ideas? thanks
I just got my watch today, but it is not able to connect to my Tab S 8.4 LTE... The Gear manager in my tablet cannot find the watch even though it is right next to it. I tried to reboot both devices and turn the Bluetooth off and on, and nothing works. Really Samsung, not even compatible with your own galaxy devices?

This really sucks... My note 4 broke and I didn't want to buy a phone because I have a tablet that can take calls and want to wait for the S8 and the Note 8 next year...

The watch will work with every phone with 1.5 gb of ram and android 4.4 and up. I'm sure you will find a second hand S5 for 100 $ to use it for 3 or 4 months. Then resell it.

Yea, that is probably what I should do now. Good advice, thanks.
I'm in the same boat as you. My primary phone is (and will continue to be) a Tab A with telephony. It won't work with the S3, so I picked up a cheap Android that lives in my desk drawer and is only used on occasions when the watch needs to be paired with a phone.
I run a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and i had to buy a used Samsung Galaxy S4 mini to pair and configure my Gear S3. What a pity !
Hi!
Any updates on this?
I spent last couple of days trying to pair Gear S3 with Tab 8.4 Pro (SM-T325) running stock kitkat 4.4 - no luck (((
It's such a shame that Samsung doesn't even make an attemp to make their own devices compatible with each other. Was a big surprise for me.
So, did anybody manage to couple Gear S3 with any tablet? If yes, how did you do it?
Hi guys,
Now I have a new phone, I was questioning if I can install Android TV on my 'old' Nexus 6 phone.
I don't know if this is the right thread to ask, I couldn't find a better one.
Thanks for reading!

I was wondering this myself last night, whether or not there were any Android TV ROMs out there designed for the Nexus 6...Was just thinking of post-daily-driver usage I could still get out of this phone.
Nexus 9 too?
I have the same question but for the Nexus 9.
Yes. ATV is a layer over regular android. But you probably need to create a rom by yourself...
