Trying to root my phone. Flashed TWRP in Odin, then installed SuperSU through TWRP. At the end it gives me the error in the title, and I get a 'failed integrity check' when booting into the system.
Help?
I've always read you have to do a factory reset after TWRP installation due to encryption, but apparently you don't have to
It still says you lose your OS though.

No factory reset required. Basically, the file system of your Data partition is incorrect and that is why it can't be mounted on to.
Go to 'Wipe'->'Advanced Wipe'->Click on the Data box->'Partition Options'->(You may be seeing values like 0mb for most of the information displayed and why you can't mount to it; if you are not let me know!)->'Change File System'->(Try out different File Systems until you being to see true values for the sizes, but avoid using EXT2 and EXT3 if you can)
Doing all this you will be able to Mount to your Data partition, however your OS will be deleted! So get your phone into Download mode, open up Odin program on your PC, and flash a Bootloader (BL) and your phone will be fine.
Then flash the 'no-verity-encryption-opt.zip' and then your SU Binary and Xposed Framework etc.
Good luck again Buddy!

It's a brand-new phone so I don't really care about the OS.
Also I tried restoring my Nandroid backup, but the drive appears empty when I go to the "Restore" option in TWRP. Not sure if I need to fix the data thing first anyway, but surely it should show up?
EDIT: Now that I think about it wasn't there some requirement to clear a cache at some point? I vaguely remember that from the last time I rooted an S7.
I've tried formatting, and the readout says "formatting" and then "Done.", but there's still a progress bar and the title area still says "Formatting...".
EDIT 2: It's plugged in but the battery is still dropping, and it only started at 8%. So it might just die anyway.
I recently went back and forth between Oreo and a TWRP Nougat backup, and was flashing TWRP each time I went up to Oreo because I was installing it via Odin which was blowing away TWRP.
I must have had to factory reset and flash the dm-no verity.zip a few times each TWRP install before I got /system and /data to not return an error. I was probably doing something out of order, but it always seemed finnicky.
How does one do the factory reset?
TWRP still reckons it's formatting, even though it says "Done.", but the battery has just hit 0% so it won't last much longer anyway.
EDIT: Or not...battery still going strong at apparently 0%. But it's been formatting for over two hours now.
Advanced wipe with data, cache, and davlik cache checked should be enough
When was I supposed to do that step? It rings a bell but it isn't in the instructions I found.
The phone finally died, and now I cant' seem to get past the TWRP splash screen.
EDIT: Just plugging it in results in the TWRP splash screen. None of the buttons seem to do anything, so I can't get into download mode and reflash TWRP or anything...
Okay, so I left it on the charger for a couple of hours.
Pressing and holding the power button turns it off. A few seconds after plugging it in, I get the Galaxy splash screen followed by the TWRP splash screen, and then the latter just stays there. Forever.
Once I turn it off, I'm unable to turn it back on at all - standard boot, recovery or download. I pressed and held the buttons for a full minute, made no difference.
EDIT: Leaving it off the charger results in the screen turning off a few minutes later. Again, no amount of pushing the buttons will do anything.
EDIT 2: Got it into download mode by plugging it in and holding the buttons down while waiting for it to automatically boot. Next step? Flash a bootloader, or reflash TWRP, or both?
Tried reflashing TWRP, changes nothing. Also tried flashing a BL and CP from the last time I installed SupermanROM, but it failed in Odin. Not sure if they're just too old or something, I have no idea how that stuff works or how updated my software is or anything.
It's the same handset I had before, but it had to go back to Samsung for repair because the battery blew up, so they very kindly wiped everything, reset Knox, etc.

So i saw a lot of random reboot threads, but none like my problem. I'm running Embryo 6.11. I was using my phone today to take pictures and then the phone rebooted itself, but would not get past the Samsung glow logo. I waited about a minute and nothing, so I pulled the battery, waited about 5 minutes for the phone to cool down, just in case it was an overheating issue. Then I tried to reboot and the same thing happened, it got stuck at the glow logo. So i rebooted again, this time I got to my home screen, as soon as I tried to open an app, the phone rebooted and then it wouldn't get past the glow logo again. I pulled the battery, then put it back in and just charged the phone up while off, just in case i had to do a lot of stuff to it. So after i charged it up, I tried booting up again, no luck. So i booted into recovery, tried flashing the ROM over the current installation, in hopes that that would just fix the broken areas causing it not to boot, but it didn't, so i went back into recovery and did a full wipe and now i'm starting from scratch again. This happened a week ago today (the 15th) and it also happened on the 1st. I don't know what is going on, do I have a bad partition from doing the Sean 3x wipes in the past when i used skyICS (I don't do that anymore, just one wipe now), or maybe from using Darkside superwipe in the past?

I had a similar issue on Embryo 7... ROM installed fine, worked fine for about a week then reboot and not going past the Samsung logo. What I found out was that the data and system partition were bad... running an e2fsck from adb shell while in recovery turned out a lot of logical errors (most of them were about inodes allocated to more files if I remember correctly but not only those). I found out while working on it that wiping these partitions from recovery is not fixing these errors.
What I did was I wiped everything (cache, data, system), ran e2fsck on each individual partition to fix the errors until no more were showing up then started from scratch (install ROM, restore apps, etc). So far, no more issues.
How do I run e2fsck? I'm not familiar with adb shell. I am a flasher and slight modder, but not a dev.

Reboot phone in recovery since you need those partitions unmounted. Connect phone to PC with USB then connect from PC with adb (run "adb shell"). If partitions (data, system, cache) are mounted you can unmount them from recovery.
Once you are in adb shell then you can run "e2fsck -fnv /dev/block/mmcblk0p24" to scan system partition. Repeat for data partition (mmcblk0p25), efs (mmcblk0p21), cache (mmcblk0p26), preload (mmcblk0p27). That will tell you only if you have errors; it will not fix them.
To fix them, run "e2fsck -fcyv /dev/block/<part name as above>".
You can also run "e2fsck" (with no parameters) to see the help and what each parameter means.
Also, see this great thread regarding the list of partitions in Skyrocket... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629508
Hope this helps you. Let me know if you need more detailed instructions.

BTW, if you find errors on your data and/or system partitions and choose to fix them, it does not mean that you phone will boot fine right away. Depending on how bad it is, you might need to reinstall the ROM.
Also, fixing the errors takes space (as *nix saves the recovered files under "lost+found" folder) so in my case, I chose to wipe the partitions from recovery first, then fix the errors and then re-install the ROM.
(Just wrote a detailed post and when I went to post, it said I wasn't logged in and erased it...will give a quick run down and can supply more detail where needed as I work through fixing my phone)
Stuck on the white htc splash screen is my most recent problem. Sometimes it gets by that but then boots into recovery. I think bananagranola has the solution in their sig to flash a boot.img. and think I'm comfortable with how to do that, just need to find that file (in the ROM zip?)
What led up to this.
Successfully unlocked and flashed to CM7 back in late Jan/early Feb.
Started experiencing random freezing about two weeks ago.
A week later (last weekend) flashed Jellybean (R10). Worked great for a couple hours then started having the same random freezes.
If things froze I'd have to remove the battery and reboot. After a day or two of this though it'd get to the point that even that would leave me on a frozen jellybean boot animation. So I'd go and factory/data reset in CWM Recovery, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik then reflash the ROM. and I'd be good for a little while more.
Tried flashing back to CM7 but Recovery didn't like the file (it has a good MD5 when checked) Had tried my restore point from early Feb before to no avail, so decided this morning to try other restore points from the last few weeks, right before and after switching to JellyBean. They got further, the first step is something with boot then something with system. It failed on the system part. OK...so I wiped and reflashed jellybean again, and now I am to my splash screen freezes.
I should have asked for help much earlier (lesson learned!) but here I am asking now...what's the first step.
Do I test out and see if I hang on the splash screen again. I haven't turned the phone on in about an hour. Worried of screwing it up more.
Thanks all.
TL;DR Believe I'm stuck on splash screen and know solution to that. Have had phone flashed with new ROM with no prob for months, recently freezing, regardless of ROM. Hoping for advice on getting things working again, starting with whether fixing the splash screen thing first is where to start
splash screen issue seems fixed
Seems I fixed the issue with the splash screen. Booted into recovery and reflashed the Jellytime ROM.
Got all the way into Android. after a few minutes I rebooted into recovery and loaded the gapps. Rebooted, it updated apps (not downloading, the popup that says it updates) and was setting up my account when it froze again as I entered a wifi password. Pulled the battery and tried again, got through that and all the way to the lock screen. froze shortly after that.
Now when I reboot, it locks on the boot animation. The Jellytime screen flashes the brightness as few times as things are loading. after the 5th or 6th flash it just sits there frozen.
a new SD card is in the mail, so I may post again when that arrives to see what I can do with an almost clean slate.

I'm wiping data/factory reset and cache as well as the dalvik cache.
The steps to flashing a ROM by sashank at link mention to format /boot and /system. I didn't specifically do those...but don't see the option for /boot in any menus I've checked.
A week or so ago I was beginning to suspect there was an issue with the memory but I never found the right search terms to find out how to do a memtest if that's what would have found any problems. Yesterday I did come across some discussion of a corrupt partition/bad chips in some HTC devices. I followed the directions there and through adb ran dmesg | grep mmc0 and the output was similar to the 'normal' one given and showed none of the messages they claimed to indicate a bad chip.
I'm not too concerned with any data from the phone...I backed all that up long ago and the rest restores from my google account. So if I getting things running would normally raise concerns of lost data, that's not an issue for me.
Thanks for taking the time to read. I try to be brief...but don't want to leave anything out.
Wanted to update here before trying to start a new thread and clogging up the board. The title of this thread is not up to date though.
I can hboot just fine and boot into recovery just fine. My phone is unlocked and rooted, ENG S-OFF from when I used AAHK quite a while ago.
When trying to navigate from menu to menu in Recovery I will get the following error messages (best I remember from last time I was in there, I've let the phone be for the last 2-3 days now)
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
This doesn't show up at first though, only after I do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset. And if I understand correctly, that wipes /cache so maybe that's causing these errors?
Anyway, after wiping the dalvik cache I can flash a ROM, I've been using Jellytime, I haven't been able to rollback to CM7, not sure why not.
Jellytime will run though...at first! the first couple of boots I can get in and get through registering my google account and have it begin restoring apps if i make that selection. The time I have to work on the phone before it freezes gets shorter and shorter though. I have to remove the battery to get it to reboot. Eventually I am left with the phone hung during the boot animation. I've left it for over an hour before...it's definitely hung there.
So my reading leads me to believe corrupt partitions. I'm not finding a lot on what I should do to reformat and maybe repartition or whatever I may need to do to recover a functioning phone. I don't care about any data on the phone. I just want to get things working again. I ended up getting a new SD card during all this that arrived earlier. If I can get my phone working, I'd prefer to use that from here on out too. I can use the adb in recovery mode just fine if that's necessary to rejigger things to work.
Can anyone help reset my partitions, if that's what this issue seems to be? If not...any ideas?
Thanks.

Yes. Everytime I've flashed, I've followed:
wipe data/factory resent
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
unless there's more I can do.

OK, I'll give this a try. The issue with the freezing is why I moved from CM7 though (which had been stable for four months) so it's reproduced itself in different ROMS. I'll post back once I give this a try. Thanks.

I gave Android Revolution a shot. During the flash it gave a message which might also be why I wasn't able to flash back to CM7. The MD5 did verify.
Code:
assert failed:write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img","boot")
When I went to reboot, I ended up in Jellytime. Of course I had to sign back in to google apps and those things were reset from the dalvik wipe. Shortly there after the phone froze.
On reboot I tried a logcat. Didn't get it right from the start (you can send the command during the boot animation if I read correctly) but captured the failure of things. It's back around the 09:02 portion of the log. To my eyes it looks similar to others I've collected. Especially the message
Code:
Fatal signal 7 (SIGBUS)
though I haven't been able to figure out much about that, or identify what it is before that that could give another clue as to what is screwy since that's maybe (Probably?) related to the flashing issues.
I've been stressed out lately about trying to root my Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge.
I got TWRP 3.1.0-0 and went on install but the supersu 2.82 zip file wasn't showing so I tried to fix it.
First I tried Format Data and that didn't work, then I tried Changing File System for System, Data, and Cache one by one and that seemed to have worked. The supersu file showed and I installed it.
Then I Rebooted System and it said,"No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?" and this has happened to me before so I figured it would reboot back into TWRP and I would have to boot to download mode, and install the firmware through Odin, but that didn't happen, what happened instead was when I Rebooted System, on the top right it said,"kernal is not seandroid enforcing, set warrenty bit:kernal" and would keep bootlooping, I went back into TWRP by taking the battery out and putting it back in then holding power, home, and volume up and I was back in TWRP.
The thing is it would keep doing this and I'm kinda stuck right now tbh. I already tried Formatting Data, Flashing a ROM, and installing the SM-J327P Firmware, but nothing worked. I'm guessing the only way to fix this is by changing back to my original File Systems and then installing the Firmware through Odin, but I'm stupid and don't remember the original File Systems. So if any of you could tell me the default File System for System, Data, and Cache or another way to fix this that would be great. Thanks
I'm still stuck in this situation...
Any help plz?

You have to use the getprop command to get your software number. Then you have to restore that EXACT software. You might have probably updated unknowingly, and the bootloader updated too. So restoring to an older firmware might bootloop. It was a huge pain in the butt to get mines working after this issue but I got it right after a few tries. I flashed the custom J327p rom they made for it, factory reset and just waited until it booted. Was a long time but after trying every restore and refreshing, I got it working. There's the newest firmware out (idk the name since I just have the metro version of this phone now) but only that one will get the phone running. If you ever do get it running, root with magisk as this phone is VERY sensitive to SU and won't work half the time

Thanks for the reply but I have tried restoring with a firmware with my exact software number, model, version, changelist, build date, country/carrier(sprint), and security patch level and I did a format data, yet It didn't work... As far as I know, the bootloop was not caused by the firmware, it was caused by me manually changing the Partitions' File Systems, however I do not remember the original File Systems for the partitions. In case this madders, the way I changed it was by pressing "Wipe" in TWRP, then "Advanced Wipe", then selecting "System", then "Repair or Change File System", then "Change File System", and choosing a random button. I also selected "Data" and "Cache" but I did it individually, one at a time.

I do have a brother that has the EXACT same phone as me so I tried installing TWRP on his phone and checking the original File Systems, however TWRP doesn't install on his phone for some reason. I enabled developer options, USB debugging, OEM, and installed the drivers and when I install TWRP recovery on his phone through odin it says it was successful but for some reason when I boot into the bootloader it's the regular one that comes with the phone and not TWRP. I'm guessing this is because he has low storage (95% used up). But he doesn't cooperate with me and says he doesn't want the TWRP on his phone because virus blah blah idk (and I don't know how to remove it without factory reset, which he doesn't want to do even though he can backup his stuff) also doesn't want to delete or free up storage from his phone. So I'm going to try wiping my phone through odin i guess...

Storage space has nothing to do with flashing recoveries because they have their own partition. I suggest you flash the same TWRP you used on his phone, then as soon as it finishes flashing, boot into recovery IMMEDIATELY by pressing volume up, power, and home. do NOT let the device boot. If you screw up and it gets to the Samsung animation, flash again and try again. This is because some of the latest Android devices tend to restore recovery upon boot for some reason. Through my experience, anyways. Try this and let me know your results.

You have to factory reset. I don't know how you're gonna do it but that's the only way to get out of it otherwise you might have been doing something else other than installing TWRP and broke something. I suggest you restore to stock and try again. If you didn't make a back up, you might be bricked unless you flash the stock firmware with a computer

I have tried manually mounting, format data, wiping system, cache, and data one by one, changing the File Systems one by one, and alot more. NOTHING WORKED. However every youtube video that I have seen about rooting my exact phone with twrp, all had and used micro SD cards! I tried avoiding buying one but every time I try to fix it any other way it ends up either not doing anything or screwing up my device. Once savagevegeta helped me out of the mess I caused by trying to fix the 0mb I decided screw it, no other method worked so might as well try buying a SD card, and guess what happened, IT WORKED! And I realized why every single guide and yt video used micro SD cards for my model.

Once savagevegeta helped me out of the mess I caused by trying to fix the 0mb I decided screw it, no other method worked so might as well try buying a SD card, and guess what happened, IT WORKED! And I realized why every single guide and yt video used micro SD cards for my model.

I guarantee you're doing it incorrectly. See my TWRP thread for correct instructions to mount data.

Your data partition will still be unmountable and remain 0mb, which means you are unable to make a backup.
However if you're happy with it in that state...
Re: bootloop
have you tried grabbing the no verity/encrypt form the rooting forum, this solves seandroid problem
UPDATE: I have finally managed to get my phone working again! Am now currently re-downloading all my apps and transferring all my files back to my phone, running AOSPExtended (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-aospextended-rom-t3732194) with OpenGApps. I'll write the steps I took to figure this mess out at the end of this post for anyone who might encounter the same problem in the future. :good:
So last night I left my phone charging overnight from 54% as I was downloading a couple of files (my internet is 1Mbps or 125KB/s). I've done this a couple of times before with no problems what so ever. But this morning I woke up and my phone was in a boot loop. I've tried everything I can think of and everything I could find on these forums, but to no luck. I am at my wits end and I have no clue what to do except to do a full factory reset, which I'd rather not do as its been a while since my last backup and I would lose a lot of precious files...
My Phone: OnePlus One 64GB Sandstone Black, purchased in August 2014.
ROM: cm-13.0-ZNH5Y-20161105-STABLE-Sultan-bacon
Recovery: TWRP+3.0.3-2-TugaPower
Firmware: bacon_firmware_update_2016_1-25_.4.0.1.c7-00011
The boot loop itself is odd, I'll describe them separately here.
-I can boot into fastboot, but not while the USB is plugged into my PC. I have to boot into fastboot, followed by plugging it into my PC. If I try to boot into fastboot while it is plugged in, the screen goes completely black and goes back into the bootloop. However, the phone shows up in Device Manager during the black screen.
- I can boot into Recovery, but the phone automatically reboots and goes back into the bootloop after a few minutes. One thing I have noticed is that if I let it reboot by itself, all the settings reset (including the confirmation to allow modifying of files when you first boot into recovery). But if I manually reboot back into recovery, the settings remain the same; atleast until it reboots automatically again.
Here, I'll list the things that I have tried to no avail:
1. Following this post - https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/3izejg/so_youve_just_bricked_your_oneplus/, when I try to wipe Dalvik cache and cache from recovery, the phone goes right back into the bootloop
2. I tried flashing a newer version of TWRP (3.2.1-0 and 3.2.1-K2). After flashing I try to boot into recovery but the TWRP loading screen displays, and then goes right back into the bootloop. It wont even let me into the main menu.
3. I tried flashing a ROM through fastboot (via this post, https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-oneplus-one-flashing-fastboot-recovery.301131/). The phone still remains in a bootloop.
HOWEVER, if I flash my previous recovery (TWRP+3.0.3-2-TugaPower replacing the stock cyanogen recovery from this method), my phone manages to get past the 1+ screen, and goes through my custom power on screen, and reaches the "Android is starting... Optimizing app 1 of 67." But it never gets past app 1, freezes, and then reboots. So now it's stuck in this "extended" bootloop thing.
What I want to know: is there anyway to fix my phone, or will I have to lose all my data and do a full factory reset through the ColorOS method? If anyone has any experience with this or knows a way to help, please don't hesitate!
Thank you in advance.
WHAT WORKED FOR ME:
After following the steps in this post (https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-oneplus-one-flashing-fastboot-recovery.301131/) my phone was booting up, but was kicked back into a boot loop after freezing at the "Android is starting.. Optimizing app 1 of 67" screen. However, the recovery was now the default CyanogenMod recovery. I then re-flashed my previous recovery (TWRP+3.0.3-2-TugaPower) from fast boot, and it was now stable (no more auto-reboots). From there I made a backup off all my files onto my PC before proceeding. After that, I did what this post said (https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/3izejg/so_youve_just_bricked_your_oneplus/) and wiped Cache + Dalvik cache. This allowed me to boot all the way past the "Android is starting" screen. However, the phone was still rendered unusable as there were non-stop notifications saying various apps had stopped working. I then booted back into recovery, downloaded and pushed a new ROM and GApps package on to my phone, wiped system, data, cache, dalvik cache, and installed the ROM and GApps pacakge, clearing the cache one more time before rebooting. Everything is working beautifully so far and I could not be happier! I hope this helps anyone else who encounters this problem, Cheers!
Hello,
Anyone else having problems after this update? I did it now and my phone does not start anymore. Or at least it hangs in the loading screen with the red and 2 white dots.
I shut it down with power and vol + twice but with no effect. It does not react on the power cable being inserted. When it's powered off and I insert the cable it starts to the loading screen, currently showing 14 %.
How to solve this?
Thank you!
I can boot into recovery or fastboot. Not sure how helpful that is though.
try to format data if you're able to go to recovery. as long you have recovery and fastboot intact, it's basically not ****ed up yet

But how can I save my data? I mean when I'm in recovery I have to enter the password before, so the data gets decrypted. But with USB attached I can only see 5 files on my desktop computer.
I emptied the battery and loaded it fully, then restarted. After a long time it say "This device has entered an unstable state. Please try rebooting your device using the exit button below..." and so on.
I hope a data recovery company isn't the only solution.
Also, is there no way to repair it? Like running the update again or something?
Why is there no „apply update from adb“ option in the recovery menu of OnePlus? Apparently I could have used that to backup all my data from the phone.
I tried wiping the cache partition without success so far.
So did Android squeeze security so much that not even the owner can save his data in this status now anymore? A bit sad when they themself break the phone with an update then.
What about these recovery services that also recover data from harddrives? Do they break the phone when they do their thing?
