So you wait for Android 10 to get Xposed on Android 9? lol
I gived Up waiting for Things like that. Besides that SONY maked it hard to get it working is there nothing that great what makes worth the waiting. Xposed is abdoned by many Developers and so are 90% of the Modules.
Don't wait for Xposed. The SONY Update is more important in many Views... And don't forget the Security Updates...

You do realize that not everyone is the same as you and wants the same things as you? Don't push your wants and needs onto other people, I'm waiting for Xposed as well because it's essential to me and many others.

What 'checks' has xposed suddenly started breaking? Safety net? Xposed always broke it.
@Miustone
Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one or knows one. No one is right or wrong in this argument. I use xposed to modify my status bar the way I like it, among other things, Aosp will not change this.

AOSP can change more as Xposed could ever do. Just take a Look on RR, AE or LOS ROMs. While RR is based on LOS does it have a lot of Options you will never find in any Xposed Module. AE is based on pure AOSP, more Clean as RR (since based on AOSP) but also giving more Options compared to LOS or Gravity Box for a Xposed example.
LOS is simple and secure. You can totally Control Your Device besides Essential modifying of the UI. Xposed is and was Something for People like the ones who just where able to get Root with locked Bootloaders. Unlocked Device = AOSP
AND, Yes. Safety Net. Xposed triggers it. Xposed was available long before the Security Changes Google did, to make Android a secure and mature OS. But it's now part of Android and WE can't Change that fact. So we can live with Systemless stuff like Magisk and the Modules for it. Or use Xposed and don't be able to use a bunch of popular Apps on Your daily used Device.
It should be clear that Xposed is almost dead, sooner or later (since it can never Go Systemless). AOSP just bring's all the Xposed goodies without breaking safety Net. Same for the Patches i do. I would never force anyone to Trigger the Safety Net Check. For a good Reason.
Peace ?
I have been using xposed since 2012, when I still had a docomo ics phone, no upgrade for me. Oreo is fast enough. Im still using kitkat because after 5.0 ipc binder was introduced, apps can steal data from other apps, mostly google services (thats why some apps wont function without gapps). Most likely ill sell both my xz and z3 and get z3 tablet with sim function. Safety is bull.
Virtual Xposed for Andorid 9.0 could make some basic Xposed modules work on the new update.

Yeah, I'd personally place my bet on it being released in November, the same time the XZ2 lineup gets it.
It doesn't matter, really, what matters is XZP gets Pie at all, whenever, which still might not happen. Like with the Z3 and Nougat situation...
Tbh, I don't even care about the android version, I'm just hoping that with the major OS upgrade Sony would also make an extra step of updating the core system apps, like camera for example, which can perform so much better than it does now, it's just a matter of tuning the algorythms and software calibration, the hardware is not the issue.
Anyways, just like with all previous updates on my xperias, I'm betting on a better experience, but nothing sensational or drastically improved.
What is most likely to happen is the core OS gets updated and everything else stays the same. Sony basically looses money on each device they sell, it's a miracle we get any updates at all on a two year old device, so yeah, not hoping for much, but it's not like I'm having issues with Oreo or how it works so... Who cares...
Revising an old device takes a lot of money and dev resources, plus you need to attend to new devices. Considering how Sony Mobile is next to unprofitable, as I said, it's a miracle the software support is as good as it is. Next to Pixel, the fastest updates of any other brand.

Is there anyone else discouraged that Xposed will not work with Touchwiz and ART?
I want the S6 but absolutely love Xposed framework.
Thoughts?
Xposed works with ART on Android 5.0. It doesn't work with 5.1 though, and I have no idea if it works with Touchwiz.
Personally, I never used Xposed so this isn't an issue for me.

Interesting, I knew it worked with Lollipop but not touchwiz. Thanks
The Xposed Framework has nothing to do with TouchWiz specifically.
I used Xposed on my S4, S5, Note 3 and Note 4. The Lollipop version of Xposed will work on the S6 just as it does with the above-mentioned phones with their Lollipop firmware.
That said, whether or not Wanam will create an Xposed module for TouchWiz-specific modifications for the S6 is a different story. I think I read that he was done with Samsung after the S5.
At the moment Xposed for Lollipop doesn't work with Samsung ROMs. rovo is looking into it but no ETA.

So so true.
Unfortunately I will not root or flash another ROM on my S6 so early in on the game due to warranty issues as this is a rather costly device to have as a brick.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathtub_curve
Been using Xposed for ages on other devices and just love the freedom it gives you. Not advertising but out of experience two good apps for Xposed are amplify and greenify, with a bit of tweaking I think these apps and the efficiency of lollipop one can squeeze hours extra out of the S6.

I'd love to get rid of that S Finder / Quick Connect bar. Useless!
Other tweaks I'd love would be to
1) change tracks by long pressing the volume buttons
2) Switch to last app by long pressing back button
The small things can really affect the user experience.

This is the one thing that I absolutely HATE about the S6.
Holy freaking hell, who could possibly ever WANT that on their phone?
It takes up so much of the damn notification bar (which is already very space limited by touchwiz GUI being so large) and they don't provide a way to get rid of it?
Wow Samsung.. Just WOW!

Sorry in advance for what is probably a silly question.
I am new to the Sammy scene having moved over from a string of htc devices where flashing etc is different.
I know that most s7 variants are not going to see any development at all however I have the version that has root.
What is the likelihood of seeing a custom Rom for this version any time soon?
All exynos s7's will see development, just not aosp for the time being. But what exactly are you expecting in a custom rom?
All you really need is root+xposed+gravity box and that you can have right now.

Optimization and tweaks etc I suppose. Flashable custom some zips etc. There was some good Roms out for the tab s 10.5. I'll hold out until I decide whether I'm going to keep the s7 anyway. I guess if knox is tripped and features like Samsung pay get killed then it will hurt resale value
Tweaks you will find in kernel's and any other software tweaks will most likely be found in xposed, so far pickings are very slim so xposed is the way to go until development picks up.

xposed+gravity box is rubbish, most of devs not include this in custom roms.... as it will conflict with mods and themes.
If u are more into it, you know or you will find digging, there's a lot to add in custom roms, first have all edge features.... then enable all new hidden feature, readd lockscreen effects, alarm, pedometer and shealth on lockscreen......
And...at least you have first 10 days immediate warranty where your device will be replaced with new one.... well all people will wait at least 15 days to be completely sure device is perfect before starting development..... be patient.... give me a week or two, i will try to port edge features.... 6 days today i have my S7..... i'm not in a hurry.... well if u are..... hurry will not push devs.....
be patient
Hurry the hell up dude! Hahahahaha just kidding and thanks for the warm welcome
I understand there will be a wait for development I probably should have phrased the question as "what kind of development and extra features have past Sammy flagships received"
For example on htc we have features added and controlled through tweaks apps like Leedroid Roms etc. Was interested as this is all going to be a learning curve just rooting the Damn thing but from what I have seen its pretty straightforward and I have had brief experience on a Sammy tablet.
Finally I feel sorry for the s820 variants and am thankful I got a root able device

Personally I don't care much about AOSP's, not just because I don't like it but also because I buy a Samsung phone for the hardware/software they offer, so I don't expect someone to do necessarily an AOSP ROM for it (even tho I'm willing to help the devs that will be interested on it). So my reply is the following: Have you got enough patience to wait someone works on it? Yes, you wait for it while you stay on Stock ROM (it isn't bad tho, TouchWiz 2012/13 times are a far memory); No, you try to code yourself a working device tree/kernel or sell your A8 and get another phone that isn't a Samsung one

Well Exynos is headache for this same reason(unless some other OEM adopts it to ease things up), and also Samsung usually makes it hard for us to get any kind of opening with it's devices to build stuff for it. If you ask me, at this rate the pros of getting a Custom ROM in your device is getting outweighed by the cons. I would also agree that 'Samsung Experience' is far better than the 'TouchWiz' nightmare.

Someone who likes to tinker with his phone this phone is abit useless to me considering there are no custom ROMs existing. Not only that there are still quite options that the current version is missing such as the ability to be able to actually have stuff on Glance. I'd rather have Ambient Display. Pie in general is useless but in this phones case I'm hoping it brings the changes I need

Well if 8.1 was perfect then they wouldn't have needed to make 9.0
But then 9.1 will likely be out a bit after 9.0 so 9.0 is already assumed to be imperfect (but then nothing ever is truely perfect is it ).
The assumption is that each update builds and improves on the previous one. So if there is something new that the teams of people who develop android have built and I can get it for free then why not have it?
But I do get what your saying, it's not like there's anything wrong with 8.1 on our device at the moment.
It's hardly a big deal If we get it in 30 minutes or 30 days... we're still getting it

With the Changes of Pie they could just say 8.2.
But that wouldn't sell "that well".
They are lifting the major version insanely quick for very little features...
Back with Android 4, they did just add .1, but 1.
Damn annoying of you ask me.

With the Changes of Pie they could just say 8.2.

I do find it odd how quickly it went from 4 to 9!
assuming they want to get to android 11 to be one ahead of windows then 13 quickly to be ahead of ios!

Google working on Fuchsia... I don't think so.
But let's see how long Android will be a thing at all.

Man you "sound" like we have an unusable phone in our hands with the firmware we run to the date. I believe it's as good as any other phone out there. Having pie as soon as possible it's just a whim.

Aptx doens't work? isnt there an option in Dev-Settings to force Atpx? And a Magisk Module to place the required libs for?
I'd like to install a custom ROM on my 6a, and graphene didn't satisfy me, so I'd like to know if anyone's found any others that i could try out lol
Calyx is out, but its kinda simmilar. Lineage 20 will hopefully come next year, which is the one I'm looking forward to

I'm looking at Calyx, and it seems like it would actually work. Graphene didn't work for me because all of the apps it came with were out of date and didn't work right, but given the fact that Calyx uses well known privacy focused apps, it looks like I'll be good to go once they've come out with their Android 13 update lol
Been running Graphene on mine since it dropped. Only issue I've had is some of my games don't play well with it. Software, am I right? /shrug
yea im waiting for custom roms. im getting impatient. im considering buying a pixel 6 or 6 pro so i can have some custom rom love

First of all, they're not out of date. They're the latest from AOSP. Oh, and they DO work right.
Second, if you don't like, that's what makes Android great -- install alternative applications, I suggest from F-droid.

Please don't write things that are demonstrably false. The truth is inverse of what you have written.
To be fair, the graphene apps have a popup that tells you its apps are not meant for your current version of android. Also they're in my opinion painful to look at because they don't comply to the system theme

So you're saying that the tor browser isn't known for its privacy? I HIGHLY doubt that

Just run Stock, you are better off, if you need to optimise just root and debloat, much better alternative to Graphene os or Calyx IMO. if you don't want to root debloat using adb. Best of luck

Id be surprised iif that were the case. Android has changed, but twrp usuallly adapts sooner or later
This thread is custom roms for the 6a. I just posted what i found. didnt mean to upset anyone by mentioning telegram or an actual custom rom. some people like custom roms, like me.

More to the point, custom recovery is pointless when you have fastboot.
