I have the unlocked sprint galaxy s8+ with the firmware/build number 955U1UEU1AQH3. I have a friend who has the same galaxy s8+ for At&t and it seems they have the 7.1.1 update. Also have a family member that has a note with 7.1.1 version on it and they have an unlocked verizon version. Why is the official unbranded samsung firmware not updated to any of the new software versions? Its confusing that there aren't any updates from 7.0 - 7.1.1. I am only seeming to get Android Security Patch Level updates, which is currently August 1, 2017.
Am I suppose to get the AT&T branded version OS in order to retrieve the latest real updates instead of patches? Is this a better option? If so, Id like to do so but keep my data without losing any of my apps and data, and also have a debloated version of the AT&T s8+ OS.

I have an AT&T S8 SM-G950U running pie on SJ3 bootloader, is there an root method out yet?

I can say for certain I was running a different stock Sam Rom than that CTB2 being mine an SM-A530W model. But perhaps at the risk of totally going against rules here aka. stolen/ill-gotten/found device. No offense. This worked for me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYXXBBiM1PM

Nobody seems to be able to that I can find, given it's that specific Verizon baseband. That's why I asked for a link to how.
