I am fed up with Sprint so I bailed with the phone I got from them and it's unlocked. It appears after doing research that they had the last laugh. This phone can only get 3g using GSM with Cricket. They offer 4g LTE but are telling me I can't use it because of this phone. I attempted to turn on the LTE CDMA but it doens't show 3G or 4G although it appears to be connected and it drops connection constantly. Very unreliable.
So my question, is there a custom ROM that I can put on this phone that will allow me to use 4g LTE on Cricket/ATT network?
No, it wont work because of the Sprint hardware. A custom ROM can't solve this.

So I bought a sidekick 4g thinking I could use my at&t sim card for it and got it unlocked but have one problem. I can only get 2g at the most on my network and asked the service provider who provided me with the unlock code for a solution to this. They told me something about T-Mobile running a different network than at&t and how at&t was updating there network so that I could get 4g on my phone and how it was going to be ready before the end of this year... Is it possible to get 4g yet or any other way around this?

Nope, that person lied to you as well.
AT&T and T-Mobile have different HSPA (4G technically) bands. I think AT&T uses the 850mhz HSPA Band, while T-Mobile uses a different one. Since thats the case, your SIM Card is looking for a band that the phones modem dosent have. Thus, knocks you back to EDGE. Forever.
Hi folks,
I live in a black hole of cellular signal. The only provider that has towers where I live is Verizon. I drive 45 minutes to work every day and over there both Verizon and AT&T have towers. I'm currently using a small, local carrier that uses Verizon towers and phones. I bought a Nexus 6 and want to activate it on straight talk. I thought I could use the IMEI from my existing phone, since it's a Verizon phone, but they say it's not compatible. They say they can activate it as a GSM phone, but I've read that if I activate it as a GSM device, it will not connect to Verizon towers so would basically be useless where I live. However, that doesn't really make sense to me since the Nexus 6 has both CDMA and GSM radios in it.
Does anyone know if I activate a GSM sim and pop it in my Nexus 6 if it will connect to Verizon towers? We do have LTE here, if that makes a difference Thanks for any help you can provide!.
Verizon network will only use CDMA but you could still use it in roaming

Will it roam on cdma if i activate it as gsm though?
Hello guys
I tried searching for this problem but got nothing that would help, so am posting here.
Issue:
I recently bought LG G3 from someone. The phone is unlocked to work on all networks (AT&T branding on the rom exists though). I am using it outside of USA and it works fine. However I am unable to get 4G speed on my 4G enabled sim. I tried this sim on other phones, and other sims on mine. It is evident that it's my phone that is not supporting the 4G speed, despite showing the 4G logo up top, when data is enabled.
Things I've checked:
I have checked the bands (1800) that my model support and verified it with my network to confirm that it should run their 4G service.
The phone is not rooted.
The sim is functional and has no lock on it.
Checked with hardware checker apps to confirm that my phones supports these bands.
I am not sure if it should root it, or what. I would really appreciate your guidance on the matter.
you need u-sim and 4g data plan for make 4g work, check if u have all of this.
Hello
Yup, as mentioned in the details, I all of that.
Make sure ure apn is for lte or 4g i got stuck with a old apn from my provider once and only edge speeds
Hello,
I have Samsung GS3 verizon SCH-I535 With CM13 installed , works perfectly , APN well configured and i connect with 3g, but i still have a problem.
Yesterday i upgraded to 4G , when i plugged the new 4g sim card and rebooted, i had no Network at all, i couldnt even make calls, so i go to settings ==> Network ====> and selected GSM/WCDMA and the network and 3g worked , if i chose LTE or other options it will switch the network off and wont work.
Please help me guys , what should i do ??!

The 4G signal that the networks worldwide use are not the same, GSM 4G is not the same as CDMA 4G, also, some 4G devices in the past were not true 4G, they used Wimax which is not actual 4G. My point is, the 4G your network uses is probably a different signal type or its bands do not match the bands the device supports. Research the exact signal type and frequency bands that Verizon supports, then research what signal type and bands that your network supports.
Many times I've seen 4G CDMA devices used on other networks and 4G could never be made to work, they were stuck with 3G because the device did not support the 4G type their network uses.
Most devices on other networks but still have 4G can count themselves lucky.
Thanks for your reply,
I flashed this rom (CM13) ; http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-cyanogenmod-13-0-nightlies-verizon-t3269675
my provider is "Djezzy" , and i think its 4g LTE.

You "think", no, don't assume anything, even if your provider uses 4G LTE, if the bands/frequencies of your network are not supported by the device's hardware then it isn't going to work. As I said the first time, you need to do the research to see what bands and frequencies Verizon uses and then do the research to see what bands/frequencies your service provider uses. I mean find the actual values of Verizon's bands/frequencies and the actual values of your networks bands/frequencies, you need to compare them to see if the use the same bands/frequencies, not just whether its 4G or LTE or not. Do you understand what I'm saying?
Also, their may be radio/modem incompatibilities, the radio modem is part of the stock firmware that remains on the device, ROMs are just the system partition and not the whole operating system, software that is under the ROM is still the software the device came with or had before you flashed a custom ROM.

I'm being told that my device is going to be booted off AT&T because my XZP is only running at 3G (according to at&t support engineers). I find this hard to believe.
I had some initial issues with the sim because I used the sim from an older phone, which could only do 3G, so it wasn't registered on their network as capable of anything else. The jerks in the store were of no help, and even got attitude with me about dropping my sim into a new phone to see if it would register. Luckily, I had a bud who had a brand new LTE AT&T phone, so I popped my sim in there, let it register, get access to all their new/current bands, and then I put the sim back in my XZP... lo and behold, all the capabilities were unlocked.
I have been running the at&t apn for high speed, phone started using 4g+ when the LTE rollout finally got fully deployed.
In trying to run down if AT&T is full of crap or not about kicking my phone off the network that is "only using 3G"... I came across this https://apn.gishan.net/en/apn/att/sony-xperia-xz-premium
It shows I should have a bearer of LTE, and I do not. I have 4G and all of the older network types, but no LTE. Does anyone else have this? If so, what network are you on? My phone should be current on its updates, as old as they are...
Maybe I need to drop this sim into a current gen phone again and let it register on their network?
Any ideas/feedback is appreciated.
