Can we get Quick Charge? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

Yeah, I am supposed to believe that Dash Charge is the best, but so much of what I do is mobile. That means I need a car charger. Those can be found with Qualcomm's Quick Charge, but not with the proprietary Dash Charge. Is it possible to add Quick Charge to the OnePlus 6's repertoire? Or maybe Power Delivery? I have chargers (and battery packs) that can do both of those.

As far as I know, no. Buy the official chargers.

Is there an official charger that looks like either of these?

There is an official car based dash charger.

Boy do I have a treat for you.... This car charger does both quick charge and dash charge, plus fast charges iPhones, and even comes with an official oneplus cable! I own it personally and give it 5 stars.
I have used a Oneplus 6, Note 9, and iPhone X with it.
$23.99. Enjoy.

You won't get dash charge with a power brick. They have an official dash charge car charger. I can get 8 hours SOT and 24 hour standby. Perhaps another phone if you are using it that much. These also exist https://www.aliexpress.com/item/-/32889438326.html

This will dash charge! I use it all the time!

Any experience with magnetic cables or adapters? I still hope to get one that works with Dash Charge, or with a similar charging speed at least.

the iVoler car charger, I just bought this to try it cause the price was low and the reviews said it was quality made. This charger works exactly as promised. And the 6 foot USB cable is of good quality and really nice. It also fits into my m9 with a nice click, and fits well around my case. I will definitely buy more of these!

They will lead to battery at higher temp.
Mine Charges at approximately 2.5A I observed battery temp reach 43C before charging current was lowered until temperature came back down.
Likely to lead to slightly reduced lifespan .
No concern to me as I typically change phone every six months. Even to owners who change every two years it probably won't be noticeable. Good advice is to charge overnight with normal charger and use fast charger only when needed .

I have the original charger and the rapid charger from the nexus 6 and I can say the nexus 6 charger does charge my phone a lot faster than the HTC provided one.
I'm tempted by the rapid charger 2.0 but I'm not sure, because charging a battery more faster it reduces the battery life. What do you think?

We're all looking for a car charger that support Huawei's Supercharge, not Qualcomm's Quickcharge.
are they the same?
No. Huawei's Supercharge is proprietary. You need their chargers, and their cables, to get full charge rate. They have a car charger listed on their site, but so far, it doesn't appear to be available anywhere.

Why? This phone has fantastic battery life and insane charging speeds. Charge with SuperCharge at home, and top up if you need to with a slower charger during the day... but you shouldn't need to do this. A standard USB type C charger will work well. USB PD works even better.

USB PD requires negotiation with the device to determine maximum power output. The charging brick must negotiate, as well as the e-marked cables I am using, to come anywhere close to the power the Mate 9 is pulling.
The Huawei charger pumps over 25 watts of power into the battery. This USB PD charger is doing 20 watts, max, and even less really because of voltage conversion that the Mate 9 charger doesn't have to do.
Unless Huawei totally screwed up designing the phone, it is safe. USB PD is not like QuickCharge... it is part of type C's specification. I have used Google's USB PD charger on a Note7 and LG V20 with zero issues, and those devices charged extremely fast using it as well.

Because the Belkin 2A charger + cable I have now is unable to charge it while I'm also using it with Spotify and Google Maps with the screen on. When I turn the screen off it charges really slow (Google Maps still running). I use this phone for navigation also when I'm working and sometimes I need it just for navigation 4 hours (and back) and then I also use it as a hotspot on location with clients. So ideally I would like my phone to be 100% when I arrive an not 70, by the time I get home it's at 30 and then I have the whole evening with only 30 % left.
As far as I know USB PD isn't supported with the Mate 9 BUT using a charger and cable that do support should not be dangerous as the charge is negotiated. I do find it strange that yours draws 20 watts.... would like someone to verify because if it is I'm buying a USB PD charger as that is the future!

Dash charging adapter / cable?

Hello all,
some reviews are saying that for dash charging one needs a special kind of cable - is that true?
Are there power banks which offer dash charging?
Thank you for your input
It's true, you will need a dash cable and also a dash adapter. As far as I know, there is no dash compatible power bank available.

Actually there are Dash-compatible power banks, they just don't call it that. Dash is the same thing as VOOC, and there are VOOC power banks. Here's one:

Hi there,
Does anybody know if all the cables/adapters compatible with Dash Charge for Oneplus 1,2,3,3T,5,5T are automatically compatible with Oneplus 6 too? Many Dash charge accesories providers didn‘t update their product description pages and I‘m womdering if I am safe when buying them for my brand new Oneplus 6.
any help would be appreciated.
Yes, the dash chargers and cables are compatible between the OP3,5,5t and 6.

Interesting, has anyone tried one of these? I thought that VOOC/Dash Charging was a patented, proprietary tech that OPPO/Oneplus didn't license out? I'm curious if anyone has tried this and found it to charge as fast as the Dash brick/cable combo.

Not if it's built correctly. VOOC is 20W max - not really that much. I think QC 3.0 is 18W. I have a 20W Macbook backup battery I've been using for years and it still works fine.
It probably will wear out faster, but that's the case with any battery - slow charging means longer life. It's a trade-off.
It's not called Dash Charging anymore....Amazon and Bragi own the Dash Charging trademark. OnePlus just call it fast charging now...

Two things come to mind. Do you have optimized charging on? Do you have a case on?
Optimized charging only charges up to 80% at night and then learns when you get up. It starts topping off the phone about an hour and a half before your get up
I've noticed just about any case drastically slows down charging. I've messaged in Ampere and gotten close to 5000ma with no case. With a case it's more like 1500ma. Seems to be the design of the charger now than the phone though. Regular wireless chargers don't seem to have that drop off

I rarely fast charge anything, I normally baby my batteries and just use very low wattage chargers, but I do own an Anker 3-port (2x USB-C 100W charge, and one USB-A, whatever that's capable of). I mostly use it with my tablet when I need to, but I've used it with my phone once or twice.
Using an Anker Nano II 30W charger here (PD/PPS), although most of the time I charge my phone through my laptop (C>C) to keep heat down.
Question would a s21 ultra charger fast charge on pixel 7?
Would my OP9 charger and cable be fine?
Since it limits the Wattage anyways

Yes. The Warp 65W charger supports USB PD 3.0 PPS up to 45W (phone will charge at no more than 23W)

It is ridiculous that these companies can get away with selling a high price device without a charging block. Here is your brand new car, you will need to bring a gas can if you want to drive it off the lot. We do not supply gasoline as the time of purchase.
I recommend these 3 chargers:
Google charger, 30 W, USB-C only, 29 € (I own this one, works well, uses PPS, but makes some tiny noise sometimes)
Samsung charger, USB-C + USB-A, 35 W, 23 €, uses PPS as well
Wicked Chili charger, USB C + USB-A, 33 W, 25 €, GaN (I own this one, too, it also uses PPS, it's very small, but I'm not sure if it's available everywhere. In Germany, it is.)
I've got this Anker charger https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B016LPMFUA
But I've been charging the Pixel 7 Pro with an old LG Nexus 5x charger Which seems to charge a little faster than the Anker.
I was a little hesitant plugging the chargers in at first but after asking around ye old internet it seems both chargers will do the job fine for now. I'm at a loss which replacement charger to buy next though as there are so many to choose from.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Charger-Charging-Adaptor-Compatible-USB-C/dp/B0B4VY7WDH
This is the one I have, bought for my S21 Ultra last year. Supports 25W so I would hope it charges the S7 Pro fast enough. Ridiculously fast charging doesn't appeal to me, as it has a big negative impact on the battery. I charge my phones overnight at normal speed.
I have an Anker Nano II Pro (20W) in my travel bag but for overnight charging at home i use an Anker power strip with build in USB A ports that charges slowly in conjunction with adaptive charging.
