POCO Development Initiative: We'll be seeing these developer here soon (hopefully) ! - Xiaomi Poco F1 Guides, News, & Discussion

Cutting all the BS, Read the news here :fingers-crossed:

I have personally seen @franciscofranco work for N5 and excited to see his magic on poco as well.
It's impressive list with great devs so i think poco is gonna fly very high

It seems very weird, the selected developers are all from India and far from being famous (or at least not as much as others on the list).
Still a great news

Not weird at all. Poco was launched in and is primarily targeted to India. Most owners are probably Indians.

The reason for majority of Indian Dev are because the r the one who have been supporting Xiaomi devices from the past few years and looking at their past history with the Xiaomi device, they have been selected

I think all of them who are in that list will receive the device and not only the 3 whose name are last. That's just selected by community members apart form above list which was suggested by XDA team.

13/23 developers who were selected are not from India. I don't know where people are getting the idea that we only selected Indians..

I'm very sorry, I read too fast. My bad.

Are the current ROM's we have blind-builds or what? The instructions are generic, and they all just boot loop for me (and I know what I'm doing).
But it seems to work for others.
So what's the problem? Maybe they're built against the MIUI 9 blobs or something, but I CBF downloading and flashing another 2GB firmware just yet....
Maybe my phone knows I actually like MIUI more and is just refusing to work out of spite lol
Off to a pretty bad start, though.

No problem! I am happy to answer any questions. I grabbed it about 4 hours ago from Best Buy. Only one location had it within a 250 mile range but it was only 5 minutes away, lol.

If there's one thing I can say about this phone, it's easily that it has the best cell reception of any recent device bar none. Seriously, I'm a good 10+dBm stronger than my prior devices: Pixel XL, Axon 7, and more..

For sure. The only thing really bugging me right now is Huawei's lockscreen. I don't have lock screen controls for any of my music apps and actionable notifications are super finicky. I'd be super happy with it if those things were addressed.

Could you let me know the full build number of the firmware on the phone?
From settings -> about phone
For example, maybe it's MHA-L29CXXXBXXX
I was on vacation in America a week ago with a T-Mobile SIM, with the Mate 9 branded to Asia C636 and Europe C432, but neither did VoLTE, so I guess it's a unique feature of the American firmware.
If you're interested in helping to bring the American model's firmware to other people and helping out the community, please get in touch with me by PM, as there are many tests I want to run with your model.

Sent from my Galaxy S7 using XDA Labs
Do you guys think they will release up to date and complete kernel sources within a very short period of time of release of the Mi Mix 3 ?
My new mi mix2s has 720hr waiting time, so likely to be the same
Wonder what it's going to be, 720hr would be a real killer. 72hr would be ok
Anyone has more information?
The time limit is to stop resellers taking the Chinese variant and putting global ROM then selling it as the global variant without the proper bands. Not sure why it's so long though a bit of a joke.

I believe it's changed now you have to join GitHub channel and you get instant unlock, unless that's just for old photos. I was helping someone get rid of vendor ROM which he'd had for 18 months, no updates, he unlocked instantly.

How's the battery life on Pixel Experience? I had it on my old Mi Max and battery really took a hit. That was fine with 4850 mAh, but with this much smaller battery, I don't know if I can afford to take the hit.
Also I've not seen any ads in .eu as of yet.

MIUI has ads built-in to its notifications and other areas too, it's part of the way they subsidize selling their phones at a loss (they also rely on people using their stock apps for data too). They make a big effort to block these ad in Xiaomi.eu though from what I've read.
I used to get ads for movie trailers in my notifications even when using Pixel Experience, I think Google is just as guilty as anyone else for this.

Google doesn't put ads in notifications. If you're getting them, they're coming from somewhere else, probably a third party messaging app or from the notification itself.

Yes, there's nothing there that proves that's anything to do with Google. Likely another app with too many permissions granted which allows it to intercept notifications and include the ad.

Well I don't know what to tell you. That was my experience. Google does push notifications of news, weather, traffic and other interests from the Google Feed, I'm not sure why we're debating if this was possible when the feed was also testing ads in the form of movie trailers. I saw it multiple times, I even held the notification down at one point to consider muting all notifications from the specific app was clearly Google.
Anyway, I haven't seen any ads like this in Xiaomi.eu.

WIFI kickers that work?

One of the first things I installed on my Magisk-rooted OP7 is a program to kick greedy users off the wifi temporarily (Pixel Netcut), but it threw me into a boot loop.
On the next round, I installed Arcai Netcut. It works, but the $12 per year seems a bit steep, I don't expect to use it that often, only when sharing space with someone who's being a pig. A nice feature is that you don't have to kick them out, you can reduce their speed to, say, 30%.
Would some of you know of other apps that serve that purpose and are stable on Magisk-rooted OP7?
Thanks!!!!

Ha, I never said that I personally bought that phone… Otherwise, I could see your point!
And value-wise, I do spend $12 a year for Reverso, but I use that every day… When I contrast that to a program I might use a couple times a year, it seems steep (for my needs).

Had your problem a while ago, but in my research dsploit never worked correctly. You may try but the only working solution was netcut, because after a certain Android version every other app became obsolete.
