Yesterday I've got a gimbal and started to test it out. I went out of the home, started to record some footage with [email protected] Then I came back to home to see how good the gimbal is.
The gimbal was good, but unfortunately video frame rate wasn't at all. Stuttering was very visible, that effect destroys everything (if you are gamer, you know what I'm talking about).
Later, I've checked the parameters via MediaInfo app. I was stunned that minimum frame rate @60fps was only 29.20 and @30FPS only ~7FPS! (resolution doesn't matter - the same results at 1080p and 4k)
I have additional iPhone SE, which minimum framerate @60fps (up to 1080p resolution) was 54.545 and @30FPS 28.571.
Do you have the same results? Why there are such FPS drops?

The only problem I've noticed with video is that I can't play 4K60fps on my computer in WMP, gonna contact OP6 support about it. Here is the description of my problem, posted yesterday:

The frame rates in my videos seem fine, only about 2-3fps below the nominal and, by the way, I've gotten a response from OP1 support in regard to my problem: it's a known problem, the WMP just can't play high fps videos. That's ok, I like VLC player, it has more features.
And you've checked it with some software?

It's not measureable because it's only average FPS. If you have MediaInfo software, it will show you minimum frame rate which is the most crucial for smoothness.

Right, the playback fps which is related to the video player processing abilities, if the video player can't handle it then it drops fps. But the overall recorded video fps rate is written in those file details, it's all up to the playback device to handle that speed, just like having inadequate GPU for advanced video games, you can't blame the game itself for slowing down and skipping. My 60fps videos are fine, I just wrongly confused myself thinking that there's something wrong with my phone, no, it was the WMP player - the VLC handles the 4k60 with ease.
Now, do you see a jittery playback while viewing it on your phone screen alone?

My CPU is i7 6700 so it's not lack of power issue. And yes the frame skipping is visible while watching it on my phone. Moreover, it's visible even on the screen while the camera app is open and I'm not recording anything. Maybe it's autofocus related issue?

In that case you should contact OnePlus technical support, hopefully they'll figure it out.

I've purchased recently a brand new x7510, mainly for navigation (love the display) and mobile office. I've installed the latest coreplayer 1.2.5 and loaded some vids that I used to show on my old good iPAQ 4700.
And.. surprise
the screen is green and there is no sound. I've played with the settings (changed video output from ati imageon to gdi) and now videos are running but way too slow. The builtin benchamark of coreplayer gives me different scores from 50 to 70%
What's wrong?
What settings are you using? Or maybe there's a better player around?

How about uploading one of the shorter videos for the rest to test and see who can play it most smoothly?

I am using DirectDraw. It works well. No problems here.

I have some flv files downloaded from youtube, but mainly videos of concerts recorded on my home computer from sat tv in wmv
One of those is about 30 minutes of Jewel concert:
Audio codec DMO WMA 44100hz 2 chanels/96kbit/s
Video codec DMO WMV (WMV9) 384 x 288, 1,15 Mb/s.
I think I've rocoded it for my mobile, but do not remember.
I just converted Superman Returns using Pocket DVD at the following settings:
IMAGE
Width: 464 pixels
Height: 288 pixels
AUDIO
Duration: 2:34:05
Bit Rate: 40 kbps
Audio Format: MPEG Layer-3
VIDEO
Frame Rate: 24 frames/second
Data Rate: 605 kbps
Video Sample Size: 24 bit
Video Compression: XVID
The only settings I changed from Core Player are:
1. Menu>Tools>Preferences>Video>Video Output>Direct Draw
2. Menu>Tools>Preferences>ATI IMAGEON>check Keep ATI Driver Active
3. Menu>Tools>Preferences>Buffering>Normal Buffer Size 700000
I also tried watching some You Tube Videos, randomly. No problems at all, except some anime looked crappy probably because they were not meant to be seen at such a big screen compared to other PPC.
I don't have any problems playing my converted DVDs. NO SKIPS, NO LAGS, NO DELAYED VOICE OR SOUND which I often see others complaining about. From my point of view, it is a matter of what converter and settings you used and what settings you have Core Player on.
So am I happy? HELL YEAH!!!!! It's better than watching using my Universal.
I don't know about the missing drivers that I often read others are asking. If Core Player can play my converted DVDs as good as my Universal, I don't see any problem with that. As I said, check your settings.
Nope still lags audio lag for me tried your settings...What version of coreplayer are you using? Did you use headphones when you played the video?

I just tried that video, when using core player 1.2.5 it almost runs fine, just that I don't have the ac3 audio codec. I also noticed a little tearing during scene change (fullscreen only).
My core player settings are:
Video output: DirectDraw
Video quality:High
Smooth Zoom: on
Dither: selected
Acceleration:not selected
DirectDraw settings:
overlay with colorkey:unselected
use blitting instead of overlay:selected
use device stretching for blitting: unselected (however I find that when I select this option with the one above I notice the tearing seems to go away but the video quality seems to go down a little)
I also increased buffersize:
normal buffer size:3392
preload at:70%
preload audio:64
Microdrive mode: selected
microdrive buffer size:56000
microdrive starts:1472
and thats what I have for coreplayer. Hopes this helps.
I'm going to try this vid in TCPMP and see how it handles it (I tend to get better video performance with TCPMP)
Another note, I have a x7501, however they're basically the same hardware.
I am using 1.2.5 version of Core Player.
I'm also using Coreplayer 1.25. Unfortunately I do not have the AC-3 codec. In any case, with rawframe buffer and set to highest video quality output, the picture is sensationally clear and fluid. I get 96.65% speed. Absolutely stunning and beautiful playback.
What audio plugin do you guys use for this video?
no problem playing videos properly coded for 640x480 sizes at max resolution, sound, etc
using TCPMP or CorePlayer, they both plays great!

I have a x7501 no matter how I set it the video display is not smooth. I lovegbe big screen but when I made a video comparison with iPhone 3g, x7501 is worlds apart. iPhone 3g is so sharp and bright. I think it's a OS issue

Yes, and I commented that also. This version is no solution for me. It is not only to install the app, but to be able to play my videos as well.
This version gives me good audio and scrambled video, so no joy.
I have already CorePlayer and am happy with it, but just was curious.

selected driver - ATI Imageon (acceleration turned "off"!). Don't choose "DirectDraw", "Raw FrameBuffer" or "GDI" on HTC 7510 - they are slowest than Imageon without acceleration!

So, I've had my Eee Pad for a few months now. Absolutely love it. One of the things that I'm aiming to do, is movie playback for road trips. Myself or my wife (whoever is passenger) can watch a movie, while streaming the audio through the car via Bluetooth (FordSync).
I had converted a couple of movies from HD MKVs (720p and 1080p) to MP4 for playback on my tablet using Handbrake and they played fine. Even HD (720p) music videos I've ripped from YouTube playback OK once converted, however any of my 420p (DVD) rips don't want to playback properly. The video is 2-4 times faster than it should be. I've Googled, and even done some searching on these forums, but the threads regarding fast video playback didn't apply to the Eee Pad.
I'm still on stock ROM, but updated to the latest one (3.1 I think it is). I've tried the built in video player, as well as a couple of others (current one installed is mVideoPlayer).
My Handbrake settings are as follows:

If the video has a 1080 resolution, I usually bring it down to 720 as it plays back better. If its an SD film, I leave the resolution/aspect ratio to whatever the video is encoded as.

Some things to try:
Go here build.handbrake.fr and download the latest SVN Handbrake GUI (Not CLI) and install it. It's possible that it is a bug in the latest official version that has been fixed.
Second, rather than using your own settings which may have inadvertently switched some switch - use the High Profile preset and encode this way. It should be automatic, but use Constant Quality = 20 instead of average bit rate as well. These are settings that are known working on mine and other devices.
Try that and report back.

If you're just re-converting the .VOB files, that might be the cause depending on if Handbrake can properly read the d2v info embed in VOB files and properly inverse-telecine the DVDs. This will explain why seems to play 2x faster as the timecode is not read properly by handbrake.

I did 4 movies, one I ripped myself, the other 3 I've had for years which I downloaded. Aside from some granyness in the videos now (I'm going to re-try with the 2-pass encode) they played perfectly. Thank you!!

Once I ripped the movie using AnyDVD, I'd throw it in to Handbrake and use the HighProfile setting. I'd set the aspect ratio to be the same as that of the movie, 2-pass encode with a turbo first pass, set the audio to be the 5.1 track as passthrough, no chapters, and the rest of the settings as the default for the profile. The original ripped videos play fine on my PC, and even the re-encoded ones played fine as well.
Not that I would really notice any difference between 720p and 1080p but I think there might be some misunderstanding that the TF can play back full 1080p video (1920x1080). Or at least mine can't without encountering serious lag.
I can't play 1080p on the browser YouTube without lag. Also the YouTube app doesn't let you chose between 720p and 1080p so I'm guessing it only plays 720p. to make sure it wasn't a browser problem i download a full HD video (www[dot]digital-digest[dot]com/movies/Limitless_1080p_Theatrical_Trailer[dot]html) and as expected it played with a lot of lag. Can anyone else check on that too?

Wondering the same, I hope there is a solution for this problem, Otherwise it may be false marketing/advertisement which would be very sad fact for us as TF users indeed.
So I tried searching for an official quote stating that the TF can playback 1080p video and the closest i came was this line from ASUS's website-
"A 5MP rear- and 1.2MP front-facing camera can shoot and record HD video, which can be played back in stunning 1080p."
Even here it doesn't state clearly where exactly the video can be played back. Nowhere else does it mention that the TF can playback 1080p. I think it's just clever marketing on their part but it does lead to general misinformation about the product.
Why would you want to play 1080p content if the screen only can handle 720p anyway?

Hdmi out to a tv is what comes to mind.
The transformer will do 1080p resolution out to a TV or monitor, but I do not think it is capable of playing true HD videos such as the Limitless trailer you listed.
Mine does play youtube in HD very clearly with no lag.
but I have put a HiDef MP4 video on here and attempted to play it and it was choppy or didnt play correctly at all.
I recommend AVI files and Vplayer or using a program to change the bit rate of the hi def files and trying to play them again.

I have made several for testing that play fine using Handbrake, but in reality 1080p over HDMI is a bit flawed at the moment, and the tablet doesn't show native 1080p so since you have to re-encode blu-rays anyway you're better off with a high profile high bitrate 720p conversion than low end 1080p.
I have not tried any of this with 3.2 yet.
While we are on the subject, does 5.1/7.1 also work via HDMI?

1080p will not play (atleast my encodes), while 720p seems to play just fine. I'd stick with 720p personally. I don't use the HDMI out, but I can see a reason for having it, it'd be nice.
I've played 1080p videos on youtube with no problem. I'm rooted and running revolver v1.1.3 (HC3.1) at 1.5 GHz.
Playing Youtube videos is not a good guideline really. Unless you make sure you are using a browser with the user agent set to Desktop and also that your Youtube settings are not set to HTML5. Then manually setting the video to 1080p and testing.
The very first bulleted item at the official ASUS product page previously stated "NVIDIA® Tegra™ 2 1.0GHz dual-core CPU for excellent multitasking & 1080P video playback" but now it states "NVIDIA® Tegra™ 2 1.0GHz dual-core CPU for excellent multitasking & HD video playback". I guess they finally decided to change it. I knew I should have taken a screenshot to prove it back when I saw it.
I tried using handbrake to convert some standard definition video. I used the default H264 main profile settings. The video plays smoothly on any PC including a lowly netbook. When I play it on the Transformer it is very jerky almost as if every couple of seconds a frame is skipped. This happens on the video gallery app as well as Mobo. Are there any recommendations on compression settings or apps? By comparison, Youtube HD video plays flawlessly.

Isn't strange that the Transformer is having any difficulty at all? I am seeing the frame skipping with SD video (720 x 480). I am wondering if the Transformer just does a really poor job with H264 or if there some other way to encode video such that there is absolutely no issue with 480p or 720p video.

I just checked what I was using and it was the same. Those are the default settings except for the RF22. I am using the default RF20 but considering I am only trying to encode 480p it makes no sense that the video should be choppy at all.
Setting Handbrake to Universal, then setting the encode to a constant 1Mb or 1.5Mb, seems to help, but its not perfect. The most important thing seems to be to downmix the audio from DD5.1 or whatever to plain old 2-channel AAC stereo or similar.
Rockplayer seems to be the best player I have tried so far. Mobo is OK.

It'll be interesting to see what you come up with. I've been using handbrake with both main and high profile, and haven't had any trouble in the stock player, or any other player.
I find the video to be a little too compressed (artifacts visible) depending on framerate and resolution. 1080p 60fps just gives me 17mbit/s wich is really low.
So what do you think, is it possible to adjust the bitrate somehow? Maybe someone can decompile the app and find the line for that setting?

Did another check to confirm this, so here are the bitrates:
2160p 30fps: 48mbit/s
1080p 60fps: 28mbit/s
1080p 30fps: 17mbit/s
720p 240fps: 72mbit/s
Audio: AAC 48kHz 256kbit/s
While the bitrate is ok for 4k video (still could be a bit higher), it is unacceptable for both of the 1080p settings. The colors really look washed out here and there are artifacts all over the video.
720p 240fps however has a pretty high bitrate, which is needed for the many pictures/second.
I would love to see ~40+ mbit/s at 1080p and a little more, maybe ~60 mbit/s at 4k.
Maybe someone with proper knowledge can look into this
