Hi
My phone is EML-L29 8.1.0.132 (c636)
Is the GPU turbo already released for this phone?
Or Huawei firmware finder is the only way to update it?
I'm waiting eagerly as you are bro
I got GPU Trubo update 1+ months ago.
EML-L29 C432 8.1.0.164
Fairly certain if you live in the uk, it's not going to arrive.
C782 is dead to Huawei
I just got the GPU Turbo update a few days ago.
Not notice any performance or battery gain at the moment.
I just notice inside the PUBG game, i can go to higher level of frame rate from "high" to "ultra" and running very smoothly.
Didn't notice battery or heat gain at the moment.
But i have tried once the phone is not charging even there is a "flash" icon beside the battery.
After reboot, it is fine again.
the p20 lite and p20 pro seem to be getting gpu updates but in small ammounts before the normal p20 users will be waiting for ever i sure i seen santa before i se an update .. uk EE here
I have GPU Turbo update. But the GPU Turbo works on 3 games ATM. And they maybe will add 2 more games this year.
It's pretty much useless unless you play a lot of PUBG or some other MOBA that's supported.

So I was playing a game Critical Ops and I invited my friend to play it (he plays on iPhone SE). Most of the time, phone gets 50-60fps with lag spikes every minute or so. But my friend doesn't experience anything like this; he gets 55-60 without any lag spikes. So I've began to wonder if my phone is bad. So we made AnTuTu Benchmark and GeekBench and results were similar (about 130K in AnTuTu and about 5500 multi-core score in GeekBench). After this, I went to supermarket because there was a shop with phones that you can try. So I tried playing with shop's S7 (G930X), and I saw that it was running as same as my friend's iPhone did (55-60 without lag spikes) in the same graphics settings. I installed cpu monitoring app on my phone to see what's happening and I saw that CPU wasn't maxed out. 2 or 3 (I think stronger cores) weren't working. So I thought that they are corrupted or sth. so I did a benchmark with monitoring on and I saw that only then all cores were working(didn't test the S7 that was on shop though). So what it can be? Do I need to root my phone or is the phone itself bad? Please help.

Actually I have exynos S7 G930F variant I use to get lock ups playing Bloons TD 5 but after clearing recents and leaving that game still running it fixed the issue and got full speed no lock ups try clear recents before running games (I'm on superman rom and super kernel with default settings)
Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
Well I play BTD Battles(a little more intensive game than BTD5) and getting no problem, even in 30th round. I clear the recents and use Smart Manager widget to get some free ram before running a game.
I see you are rooted right? Do I really need to root my phone? It's only about 2 weeks old and I worried a little for the warranty but if there's no solution for without root then I will manage to make it at some point.
P.S. I think you are secured from this happening because you have a root and a custom rom and kernel so you can manage everything
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Exynos G930F comes to a crawl at level 100+ on BTD5 with so much on screen
Don't forget that you have 4 times more pixel than the iPhone SE.
yea this might be the case but its got better battery life so you give and you get some
If possible, I will try to make a video on the shop's S7 and my s7's performance.
P.S. I wonder if G930X has Snapdragon because I can't find any info about this model in internet. If yes then everything's solved I guess

Thanks man!
Then everything's solved in this situation, but another question comes up: why CPU in Exynos version isn't maxed in game Critical Ops? Because if SD version has 4 cores and it works better than in my phone it means that something has to do with cores.
Can it be the game's problem and i need to report this problem?
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
Possible the game need optimising for 8 cores, but I think the SD S7 has slightly better graphics scores than the Exynos too
Ok so I reported the problem to developers now I need yo wait for their response.

New update rolled out yesterday so I updated and C-ops works pretty smoothly(better!) but still lag spikes.
But now I downloaded Minecraft: Pocket Edition and IT'S NOT 60FPS! It's SOMEWHAT smooth BUT sometimes I see 20-30fps in scenes that aren't showing much of a landscape. And I tried playing HearthStone, NFS:No Limits, GTA:SA and Alto's Adventure (because it was lagging for some people but it works good for me) and I don't see 60FPS from them either. What the hell Samsung. FYI, I tried turning off App power saving in Settings>Battery>App power saving.
P.S. I have read some articles and people said S6 (8 core phone) has worse performance BUT in Marshmallow, not Lollipop so let's hope it will change in Nougat.

Exynos variant has a weaker GPU than Qualcomm so most games will have lower FPS. Exynos does have a stronger CPU and better battery life but that doesn't help out so much with gaming.

But what about iPhone SE then? It has garbage GPU (let's be honest) but CPU is very strong but still performs a little better than my phone. Maybe resolution helps.

I am thinking, should I sell my S7 for another phone? What do you guys think? Do you have any recommendations for another phone?
Sent from my SM-G930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
I wouldn't sell my S7 just because a single game won't reach 60 Fps, sure, the Adreno 530 on the SD Variant is a bit stronger but that doesn't mean the Mali T880 is weak by any means. I'm guessing it must be the software optimization probably because the developers were using an Adreno GPU or a Qualcomm developed gpu. Either way, try tinkering with the settings ( disabling Vsync and anti aliasing ) and see if that would work. You could also try overclocking the GPU if you want.
Goodluck
Hey, I'm looking for this phone and wanted to know if this phone works good with high graphics games. And about heating problem regarding this phone. Any helpful advice will be appreciated

Performs great. No issues in my device of any kind.
Heat? What heat? Huawei have achieved very good heat dissipation with this phone. Not sure how but they have. It also plays games just fine.

No issues so far and it doesn't get hot as other phones after long periods of gaming.
According to AnandTech's review this phone is a monster in GPU benchmarks. Should not have any issues. (Can't post link though as I'm a new user, but Google it)
Games work fine except for Dream league soccer 2016. On firmware version 126 it was obvious that something is wrong with graphics, but it was playable. After upgrading firmware to 138 game keeps crashing after max. 5mins of playtime.

Hardware is not a problem, nor heat is, but you have to take in mind that many games developers don't support Kirin processors and when they detect a Kirin processor, they just display ugly graphics.
I have tried many games with Mate 9, and all those with Vulkan run flawless, but if you try some other games, for example, CSR2, you will see the difference against a Qualcomm device. Is matter of time until the developers start giving support to Kirin processors and/or enable high quality graphics for them.

Okay so i won't play Dream League Soccer 2016 then as I've a good interest in soccer but i will manage with other soccer games.
No problems with any games I play.
I play hearthstone for hours and hours at a time.
My phone never gets hot. I remember when I used to play that game on my nexus 6 the phone would heat up so bad lol.
I'm thinking about buying SA, but i'm a bit worried about the performance
It will work fine, just don't go with maximum settings and you'll be good

Huawei is preparing a "very scary" technology that can change all of its devices
https://infoglitz.com/polandeng/hua...echnology-that-can-change-all-of-its-devices/
What is that? What they will make? Software or hardware? Will P20 Pro be able to use "scary technology "?
Or it will be new P20 Pro with Kirin 980?
It sounds like AI battery optimization to me.
Sounds like a bad translation to me.

Some leaks say that Huawei will remove/modify Android's Dalvik to speed system up, and rename the new system to Kirin OS. And of cause, someone has already said that.
No worry about US gov's decision, chineses gov won't agree.
The "scary technology " has been revealed by Huawei today and dubbed "GPU turbo ". Interesting thing is that we probably get this on our p20's as well

Kirin 970 with "GPU turbo " in action and outperforms Xiaomi Mi8 SD845.. App opening speeds are insanely fast Really hope this will come to our devices in a future firmware update.

I see they will get 960fps super slow motion to Mate 10. Will this GPU Turbo fix crazy artifacts in Super slow motion in P20 Pro?
I see the M5 Mediapads are going to start receiving the GPU Turbo later in the month.
"Huawei, via its official Weibo*account, has announced that its latest Android tablet, the*Huawei Mediapad M5*would be getting a new software update that will bring to it the game boasting*GPU Turbo technology. The update is set to roll out this month, and that will make the Mediapad M5 the first tablet to have the tech in place. No specific*date has been announced for the update to arrive, but it's certain it will arrive sooner."

Not sure if this also includes Oreo 8.1, but will be interesting to see if there are noticable improvements in performance and battery.

Thanks. Interesting what it will bring. In terms of power efficiency, I already think it's fine. The major power drain is from the display when it's on.
Guess I should test the update just released for the Pro edition with regard to this.

Yeah, I think the battery efficiency is specific to gaming in the turbo mode, it's meant to improve performance by 60%, while at the same time using 30% less battery.....
But I agree in general very happy with the battery life on my M5 Pro.
Unfortunately their was never any real explanation of how Huawei are achieving this GPU Turbo feat, but for gamers to have faster frame rates with far less battery is great if true.

Yeah I don't think it would of been included (although your link to did say Power and Battery optimizations), but all of the other Kirin 970 devices that have implemented the 'GPU Turbo' have had to register on Huaweis private forums. https://club.huawei.com/forum.html
So not sure if the M5 tablets will just get a general roll-out or will also have to enrol for the beta.
In fact it looks like it will start private beta in mid July .
https://club.huawei.com/thread-16416385-1-1.html
So we won't likely see a general release until the end of month or a bit after I think....
While I still haven't recieved the C432 update for my M5 Pro, I decided to load the Huawei Firmware Finder tool...
I can see that there has been 2 releases of the GPU Turbo update for the tablets, that are available....
The latest at least for CMR-W19 and CMR-AL19 pro models is CMR-AL19C00B171 (8.0.0.171) from 14th of July
This update adds the Huawei GPU Turbo acceleration technology, which improves graphic processing efficiency.
Adds the Huawei GPU Turbo acceleration technology. You can now enjoy smoother gaming. It's recommended that you enable Gaming mode in Game Suite for a better gaming experience.
Adds the HiTouch feature for online shopping. You can tap product images with two fingers to activate product recognition.

I still haven't recieved the C432 update with June security patch.
Starting to become a little annoyed with Huawei and their updates or lack thereof.
Yes the China version seem to got the Gpu turbo update, hope the eu version get it soon. I'm not worry about updates as this point from Huawei, M5 got 3 updates already, my M2 get if I remember right 2 ota updates in 2 years period ?? they forgot that device completely. Hope they do a better job this time.

Yes it just seems annoying that others have June security patch, I'm still on May, and I can already see July security patch in the firmware finder.
As for the GPU Update, I'm concerned that I've seen written that Huawei aren't updating US model phones with GPU Turbo, and I unfortunately purchased from Amazon US.
If I don't receive the GPU turbo update, this would be my first and last Huawei product. :crying:
Any review?
