rom wishlist - Android General

i don't know if this belongs in here i read the rules and didn't find anything that said it doesn't so i will try
heres a wishlist for my ideal rom
1.i want to get rid of the entire google section from the settingspanel and put it under accounts i find it really uncomfortable to have the google branding in my settings panel i want it all to act like any other account where settings go under account, if no google account is logged into then theres no google settings
2.i want to get rid of the entire accessability section from the settingspanel and move just the accessability app function under system so apps that require it can still work i also want blutooth settings and wifi settings combined into one all connectivity settings under one section not two different ones
3.i want to port sonys xreality Engine including the settings such as ultra vivid mode under screen settings as this is something i find extremely valueble it makes the lcd on my xz1 beat the oled of my s7 edge, i believe this is by far the best screen preset funciton on Android so it could go under screen presets simple as that
4.i want the rom to be as Clean as possible, i want to choose not to have it come preloaded with a calendar app or phone app or anything like that that can be downloaded off the playstore, any app function such as Contacts that can be downloaded from the playstore i don't want any of it preloaded, so as bloatware free as possible, i am not sure how to work that with no launcher coming preloaded though
5. i want the playstore renamed to just store or software manager or software center and with a regular store Icon, basically i want to get rid of any and all google branding from the rom, the rom would ofcourse have google functions as otherwise it wouldn't work but visually i don't want to see any branding of any kind that includes the name "trebuchet" for the preloaded launcher i'd prefer just "launcher"
6.not important but i want greenify implemented as standard battery saver functions rather than something you download afterwards i also want doze to be put under battery and wellbeing to be put under screen settings, i noticed these are in the main settings panel, i also want the setting to doze gms to be implemented in the battery settings panel so you don't need magisk for that i also want doze and greenify to be merged into one or just take all greenify functions and put it under doze
7. i'd love for magisk to be implemented too under system settings so theres no magisk app you access settings under system not through an app
8.i'd love screen width to be impemented under screen settings so you don't need to go under developer settings just to change screen dpi, i would also love usb debugging to be taken out of developer settings and be put under connected devices section or in my case connectivity settings
9. i noticed that most of the settings under google settings don't even have to exist so they could be seperated throughout the panel like screencast can be put under display settings, nearby could be under connectivity settings, backup would ofcourse be under system and search would also be under system, location settings could be under connectivity, configure nearby device under connectivity
10.get rid of any "no simcard" warning from the rom as well as any carrier branding i don't want to know it, i think everyone is aware if they have no sim or not in their phone, maybe show a warning when trying to go online that no simcard has been detected and notifying the user to use wifi.
this is ofcourse just a wishlist i do understand if magisk or greenify can't be implemented in a rom but it is a wishlist.

Showing Home Screen before unlocking (with a pattern or pin, maybe more?)

I've been using WidgetLocker from TeslaCoil Software for years. They sadly have stopped working on it and removed it from the play market. So, I decided to figure out how to show my home screen BEFORE unlocking my phone.
It was actually pretty easy. I think you have to be rooted because you have to change application settings.
1) Download an application settings app
I used the Applications Settings app from Xposed, others might work. You have to be able to let apps show while locked. (Also convenient for note taking on the go).
2) Use said app settings app to change the settings for your Home screen app and let it show while locked.
This lets you get to your home screen by pressing softkeys IF it was that last app you were in. Otherwise it forces you to unlock and then goes to the last used app. Not what we want.
3) Install some kind of lockscreen app that lets you put Shortcuts on the lockscreen. I'm using WidgetUnlocker, I lost it in phone wipe without knowing that it was not in the market and downloaded it elsewhere. I had already paid for it and the developer directly told me that they are not working on it anymore in favor of NovaLauncher. I think that there are other lock screen apps that will let you add shortcuts to shortcuts.
3) In said app, make a shortcut that points to Activities -> (YourHomeScreenAppName/Launcher) -> com.android.launcher2.Launcher
TADA! You can now access your home screen before drawing your pattern or pin by using the shortcut you created. You can interact with folders and widgets on your home screen. However, your pattern unlock will appear whenever you try to click on anything that would switch to another app. I've played with this quite extensively and have only one way to get past the pattern; but, it only lets me change the settings with WidgetLocker. .. So, someone could say, add a email / txt / etc widget to WidgetLocker that would let them scroll through you emails or txts etc. However, they would NOT be able to click and access the whole message. (That requires switching to another app besides your Homescreen/Launcher and hence your pattern lock will pop up.)
NOTE: I am not sure exactly how this will work with other lockscreen apps. I'm guessing that it will work with any app that still lets you use your devices pattern or pin lock. I'm not sure about the ones that make you use their app for a pattern etc lock.

Upgraded to AOSP Nougat from MiUI Lollipop, need help to perform the following tweaks

Upgraded my Redmi Note 3 from MiUI lollipop 5.1.1 to SIimROM Nougat 7.1.2. My phone is rooted with Magisk & also has systemless xposed.
First, I want to disable quick settings pull down from the lock screen. I'm able to use every toggle on my quick settings screen without the PIN code. Wouldn't want to allow that without the PIN. Gravitybox Nougat doesn't seem to have an option to disable that.
Second, on MiUI, whenever an app accessed my location, I also got a notification that displayed which app was using location. This doesn't seem to be the case on AOSP Nougat, all I get is a location icon in the status bar, but have no idea which app is accessing my location. That isn't of much use, is there is a root app or an xposed module that can display which app is accessing my location?
Third, the max volume on my ROM seems to be too low, I can't hear most YouTube videos I watch without keeping the phone very close to my face. Which mod would be the best to increase system volume? I don't care about other equalizer settings & all that, just want a way to increase max system volume.
Fourth, when I first setup a lock screen on my ROM, it seems to have encrypted my phone. But when I turned On accessibility service of an app, I no longer see the secure PIN screen that was asked before at boot. Some searching made me realize that turning On accessibility disables encryption, don't know why this is the case. 4 of my apps need the accessibility service to do their tasks, is there no way to have the accessibility service enabled while also keeping the phone encrypted? There must be some workaround....

2G/3G/4G switcher or toggle or widget or...

ok i searched many but cant find good widget/switcher/toggle for non root phone that can switch fast and easy between 2/3/4g network....any help?
anybody?
Back on the Galaxy S2, I used to switch lots of functions thanks to the app named "Power Toggles". I can't guarantee you that it will have a switch for 2G/3G/4G, but it might have one. Basically, it's a widget that you can customize by putting the switches that you want, in the order that you want. So you might want to have a look at it, just in case it does what you need ; )
Such Toogle Apps have been blocked by Google security for most settings since Android 4 or 5, i think.

How do we fix notifcations and not app shutting down ?

This reminds me a lot of older Huawei days I hate with my Mate 8...so I am little bit familiar.. that we have to whitelist.
But can some one tell me what I need to do for the apps that have push notifications ?
Is it 2 or 3 places I need to white list ???
From what I remember from my Huawei days was... I did only whitelist apps that used push notifcation or that was a multimedia app for video or audio, the others dont need to run in the background really..
so the concept are not wrong.. but.. I think vivo software should detect if the app want to use push notifications and ask the user if we want to allow that or not...it would make the set up more simple.
I could probably figure it out myself but this would save time..and also its good information for other new owners of the device. Besides this I am super happy with this Vivo Device, its clear to me that Vivo is the next Huawei, the only bad thing about vivo is their pricing, Vivos brand is not strong outside china so it will take time for them to build up same brand as huawei.

We need to Allow Apps to AutoStart & Run in the Background
Funtouch OS Kills most apps in the background in order to achieve better battery life and you would often find yourself missing notifications from your apps like whatsapp, telegram, instagram, twitter etc. You have to allow them to Autostart & Whitelist them/Allow to run in the background if you want to receive timely notifications. To do so follow the below:
* Settings > More Settings > Permission Management > Autostart (Select your preferred apps)
* Settings > Battery > High Background Power Consumption > Select apps
Allow the apps to continue running in the background so keep receiving notifications instantly.
I recommend most social media apps and messenger apps like Whatsapp, Telegram, Instagram, Twitter along with your Widgets and any other applications that are important for you to keep active.
Hope this helps :fingers-crossed:
that is OK...try using the SofaScore application but not with home wifi network...try with mobile network, I think the notifications in this case are not coming regularly
One more thing I figured out is to make sure background data is on. It is hard to find in the settings. I wasn't getting my email notifications for the stock email app even with all the settings correct.
i somehow found that the background data was off for some reason for that app. Turned it on now everything works great.

I have Nova Launcher. Press and hold the settings spp. You should see a pop up that says battery, data and wifi. Go to data. In there go to data usage. Find the app you are not getting notifications. Check to see if background data is enabled. I don't know how to find this setting by not using Nova Launcher.
Hope this helps.

What setting couldn't you find? The man settings icon in your app drawer. Press and hold. A pop up should appear. Should say Battery, Data and Wifi. Hit the data. On this page, go to Mobile Data Used. There should be a list of apps that have used data. Find the app you are looking for and make sure background data is on. Or even go through the list and turn off background data to apps you don't want. If the app you are looking for isn't there, try again after you have used the phone for a while. Give the app some time to show up.
This is the only way I know of getting to this setting.

What app are you having issuea with out of curiosity?
I keep having issues with the stock email app. Third party email apps work properly.
Ok, I have a problem with notifications.
It's annoying that you can't drag the notifications screen down from the top in the lockscreen, it only works after you unlock the phone.
Also, some notifications in the lock screen don't fully show, they are also not responsove to touch(as to expanding the notification in the lockscreen to show more info)
I can only see what they say after I unlock the phone, drag the top down and press the little arrow that now appears on the right side of google notifications as in the example pics below
The arrow is not there in lock screen, I can't "expand" notifications in lockscreen...
You understand what I mean???
Lockscreen notification 1 st pic and unlocked screen notification second after I press the little arrow
Same for example when I got multiple whatsapp messages, in other phones in the lock screen I touch the notification in the lockscreen and "drag" it down, it expands to show me the messages, in the Nex this is not possible
Any fix? Thanks
Try remove com.vivo.pem in adb shell.

This is very common issue between Chinese software iOS style like Funtouch,MIUI,EMIU.
They don’t support expandable notifications on lock screen neither option like reply or delete from various app like Viber,WhatsApp,outlook, messenger,Gmail.
You can’t resolve it even with third party app because Google remove with Oreo overlays management on lock screen from third party app.
Only when native being supported by OEM.
Unfortunately Chinese OEM interact badly to core Android OS by removing basic features like expandable notifications.
All other non Chinese skin support this feature(Samsung,LG,Sony etc)
The only Chinese OEM support it is OnePlus because of Oxygen skin being stock based.

Thanks for the reply. I made a side by side comparison vixeo with a samsung s 6 and sent it to Vivo on Facebook. Customer service has been amazing I must say
I have the Chinese version of the NEX. Settings\Status Bar and Notifications\Manage Notifications. On my list I have apps listed including my Android messaging app, which lets me select detailed message info on my lock screen.

But you can’t reply or delete a massage(WhatsApp Viber,Facebook messenger etc)or email(Gmail, outlook)through lock screen since does not let you expand on it.
And if you get long massage with many words characters you can’t read all of the massage but half only, unless unlocked the screen and pull down notifications center.
Vivo software does not support expand notifications on lock screen just like non Chinese android skin.
I had the same issue with Huawei and Xiaomi device when I had it.
Take a look at this screenshot.
I’ve got 3 emails from outlook but I can’t read the details each one also not having option of reply or delete each massage.
The same with Gmail I can’t expand so I can’t read the whole message and just like outlook I can’t delete or reply directly through lock screen.
In both situations I have to unlocked the phone and the pull down notifications center and only then let me do that.

Question Most comprehensive way to get my settings and whatnot back after a factory reset?

I've decided I rly don't want the nav bar. I prefer the Samsung three button swipe up method. How much of my current setup can I get back should I unlock the bootloader to root and therefore factory reset my device?
...Unless there's an option to hide the nav bar without root
Thank you.
For me, factory resetting really isn't all that bad. Been doing roms since 2011, so starting fresh is a reoccurring thing for me.
My important photos/videos are backed up through Google Photos while my SMS/MMS are backed up through SMS Backup and Restore. Everything else, pretty much just login through apps with a password manager. System settings, I go through one-by-one and set them up every single time, but that only takes but so long.
Maybe someone could add some stuff that requires manually backing up those apps specifically?

Going to see how this works, give me one sec. Not sure how it works on the latest Android, but it can achieve what you're looking for.
Vivid Navigation Gestures - Apps on Google Play
Fluid navigation gestures for all of us!
play.google.com
Edit: No go. Dug up the article and now it seems like your only option will be to root, unless someone knows something more.
Google confirms overscan is gone in Android 11, crippling third-party gesture apps
Google has confirmed that overscan is not present in Android 11. This change will cripple third-party navigation gesture apps and others.
www.xda-developers.com
vivid navigation gestures paired with aospmods is the only way to hide the navigation bar. afaik the setting to hide the navbar within vivid NG doesn't work. need root
I could be completely wrong with what you are after regarding the swipe options, but try this for the 3 button navigation. (Translated from Dutch, so menu might look a little bit different)
Settings > System > gestures > system navigation
Here you can disable the swipe, and enable the 3 buttons option.
I'm using the Xposed Edge app to hide the navigation pill. I also have the None Display Cutout module installed which, in conjunction with the Xposed Edge app, I can toggle the Status bar too.
