Re sm-g955w - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I have a problem that I would really appreciate help with. I purchased a phone from kijiji (Samsung s8+ sm-g955w) branded to freedom mobile. I have switched carriers and phone is working fine with Rogers. I moved to an area that has really bad coverage so I called to activate wifi calling.
They told me because the phone is not Rogers branded wifi calling will not work on their network.
Now I have another phone that my partner has that is also a S8+ and it is a rogers branded phone and wifi calling works on it. It is also a S8+ and the same G955W model as mine.
Can anyone guide me to any information that I can get this phone to work with wifi calling without having to sell the phone and buy a new one.
Thanks in advance.

Wifi calling

Hi guys, new to here.
I've searched high and low and I can't seem to find an answer.
I'm from the UK and have a BTU galaxy s7. I've just rooted it and have downloaded csc feature expert. Tried to enable wifi calling but nothing appears under phone settings.
Has anyone had any luck doing this? If so, info would be much appreciated.
It worked for me in USA on t mobile!! i didn't do anything special just outta the box connected to wifi and boom
I'm in the UK too, vodaphone network with wifi callinging activated on my account and similarly I can't activate in on my phone, because there is no "wificalling" enable selection on my Samsung S7 Edge phone settings, did you have any luck finding out how you can do it

According to the Vodafone S7/Edge forum Wi-Fi calling needs an update before it can be enabled. No idea when this will be out.

It's working for me, but I got my S7 from EE.
OK Thanks. I contacted Samsung and they say wifi calling isn't part of their software, its a service provider software add on. I know EE have their wificalling working, where you download an App, whereas vodaphone are saying you don't need to download any app, so as you've said, vodaphone are advertising under false pretences, becasue their wificalling isn't up and running yet.....you'd think they'd get a system that works first, before advertising the facility......a case of waiting to see when Vodaphone get their act together

To be fair to Vodafone (which is very difficult) their web site doesn't mention Wi-Fi calling for the S7 - only the S6. Several people on their forum have claimed that customer service told them it was enabled which doesn't surprise me in the slightest. As the new flagship phone why wouldn't it be enabled out of the box? Especially given EE didn't appear to have any problem doing it.
Anyway, I'm sure it will be along any time now... What I'd like to know is when they're going to enable Wi-Fi texts as well as calls.
P.S. You don't need an app for EE either. I believe EE and Vodafone work in the same way as opposed to O2 and 3 which use a separate app.

I just flashed EE version (from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930F/EVR/) G930FXXU1APB9 and WiFi calling options still do not show up. Please advice.

AFAIK, there is no way to get WiFi calling on the Exynos variant. Sorry, it doesn't sound like it will ever be possible, so don't get your hopes up.

Free hotspot on s6?

Okay so my husband bought a used Verizon Samsung Galaxy s6 from someone and said it was unlocked. After using it, I discovered the Wi-Fi hot-spot feature worked for free (using cricket service).
Well dropped my phone in the toilet and now it's broken. Instead of trying to get it fixed, I'd rather buy a new one, since I did have some network issues at times (I'm supposing since it was Verizon?)
Anyway, my question is.... I want to get either at&t or T-Mobile since I believe both are 100% compatible with Cricket. If I get a factory or network unlocked s6, will the hot-spot feature be enabled for free again? Or do I have to modify the phone somehow? Thanks in advance.

Maybe should ask in T-Mobile or AT&T forum.

No hotspot provisioning on G930T?

Hi, I'm thinking about picking up a SIM-unlocked T-Mobile S7 (930T) or maybe a T-Mobile S7 Edge (935T) to run on Cricket, but I want to make sure that the phone doesn't check with the carrier before allowing hotspot (hotspot tether provisioning).
For example, I'm pretty sure the Verizon version allows hotspot to be used without pinging whatever carrier's SIM one has installed (Cricket) because that's the way it worked on my Verizon branded S6. With my Cricket SIM in it, I could still run a hotspot without the phone checking for permission with my carrier as it does with some phones like the iPhone and S7 930A. On those two phones I can't do hotspot because it checks with the carrier before allowing hotspot tethering and I don't have hotspot on my plan. I don't do hotspot that often but it's nice to have it there when I need it.
The only reason I'm not looking at a Verizon version of the S7 is because the bands I would need to run well on Cricket are switched off on the 930V.
Let me know if you know whether the T-mobile S7s allow use of the hotspot tether function without pinging the carrier for permission.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Need help, converting T-MO SM-G955U to the unlocked/international? version

Hello, I was a very active member of this forum but I been long time doing nothing but getting phones and not rooting them or custom roms.
Now I been with T-Mo when the S8+ was in pre order, I got the phones, now I switched to MetroPCS....
The problem is I had Wi-Fi calling with Tmo but when I put the Metro SIM it reboots and the Wi-Fi calling disappear. My friend has 2 Notes 8, he got them factory unlocked and he was with Tmo with Wi-Fi calling then he switch to Metro and his Wi-Fi calling works too, I believe my problem is Tmo software.
I want to flash my phones with the unlocked/international? version, how I do this without losing Samsung pay? even better if I can do it without losing any data at all.
Any suggestions? Thanks

Check your APN against your friends phone that gets Wi-Fi calling.
