I have been looking at getting this android 8 unit for my van. I would like to know if anyone has had experience with this brand (the seller is autostereo on aliexpress, although they seem to go by other names like zwnav ). This unit has a decent amout of reviews and the customer service so far has been very responsive.
The specs are:
MTCE based (px5), 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, and the manufacturer is KSP, which according to a thread I found means that it's made by Kasi Pu Technology Co.
The main thing I'm intersted in knowling is how the A2DP and build quality is.
I've included a picture of the radio the seller sent me. Any info will be appreciated.
Hi yys100,
if you still want some info, I installed an ZWNAV device from autostereo in my mazda 5 today.
They were very flexible with delivery and very responsive to any questions from me.
The device has the same specs you mentioned, it looks very good and it works without problems so far.
I do not use A2DP because I have a 64 GB sdcard installed with all my music
greetings
donny

So it looks like my eMMC got fried after failing to write to all of the partitions from fastboot. Now, since my country doesn't have a whole lot of shops that are willing to replace a single SMD chip from the board I was left with going through laptop shops and finally found one that was willing to replace the chip. The only catch is that I'm left with sourcing the chip. On that note, I was left a bit of confused about the eMMC chips, specially after that 64GB mod.
Now, I have a 16GB Nexus 5 and from looking at the ifixit site, I can see that it is using a SandDisk SDIN8DE4-16G chip. Normally, for the repair, I would buy the exact same chip, but after seeing that I can "upgrade" I was thinking about getting the 32GB version of the chip i.e. SDIN8DE4-32G since the price is similar. Is that the chip from the 32GB Nexus version? Also, I didn't want to go the route of the 64GB since I didn't ivestigate as much into the compatabilaty of other ROMs with that chip.
So my questions are the following:
Should I go ahead and buy the SDIN8DE4-32G chip? Is the upgrade process that simple?
The second question is: Can I put in any eMMC chip in there and not just the SDIN8DE4-32G chip i.e. a faster eMMC 5 chip and how would the process differ (if at all)?
Any and all input is welcome, specially from the people that have some experience with SMD HW repair.
EDIT 1: Ok, after some research, I see that the 32GB version of Nexus does in fact use the SDIN8DE4-32G chip.
Depending on what they are charging you, you might be better off just replacing the whole motherboard with a brand new one from eBay for like $80US
Sorry I can't help with sourcing the actual chip.

Yeah, I agree that that would be the easiest route, but it's the most expencive one. The 32GB Nexus 5 chip can be found for around 15$ (inc. shipping) and the shop would charge me another 25$ for the soldering so it would still be at like a half the price of a new board, and any repair above 50$ just doesn't make sence since I can find a used Nexus 5 16GB for 100$ and sell this one for parts for around 50$.

Sadly not the way I've hoped. I sold it off for parts for 30e and got a used one for 70e.
All in all a good deal, but still on the 16GB version and looking to upgrade to a new phone since there are some limitations of the 32 bit CPU architecture.
Was looking at the Motorola X4, but it doesn't support project Treble out of the box, so I think I'll wait a bit more until Android 8.0 phones come to market.

That sucks
I've ordered an octa-core board with 4Gb RAM and 32Gb storage.
Do they come with an OS already installed?
If they do, given I'm upgrading from 1Gb PX3 will I be alright sticking with the stock ROM? I'm assuming it's going to be way faster than the PX3 that's in it right now and I'm not that bothered about customisation. I only installed a custom ROM to get some speed improvements before.

I ordered it from Ali Express but it's going to take a while to be delivered from China to the UK so I can#'t say that it is working as I haven't got it yet.
I bought this one which should be fine:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Oct...D-Android-5-1-system-Upgrade/32865743307.html
So this arrived yesterday and I fitted it immediately. My only issue is that the connector on the GPS aerial was just slightly larger on the inside of the unit than the one on the PX3 board. I didn't have time to desolder the one offthe old board to swap it out so I've had to leave the DVD/CD Player out of the unit because the connector was in the way.
It's not a problem for me as I don't use CDs anyway.
Wow, it's a revelation. Totally different experience. I've now got auto-sleep which means almost instant restart, the external microphone appears to be working now and the speed is just fantastic compared to the PX3.
I'm not even going to need to put a custom ROM on as it's more than fast enough as it came.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, since my head unit is painfully slow. But the link you pasted above seems to have lapsed. Did you buy from WITSON?
i.e. this one? alixepress.com /item/WITSON-PX3-Quad-Core-2GB-RAM-16GB-Flash-Coreboard-For-Android-DVD-Android-5-1-A5XXX/32820356300.html
(Darn site won't let me post URL until I'm out of probation!)
Thanks!
Does anyone want to buy a PX5 board?
I'd likely sell mine if someone was interested.

Is there a way to know for sure this will work in my Xtrons android px5 unit?
Hi,
I have an MTCD unit with PX3 1GB SoM (see attached picture)
I would like to do some upgrade and get some more RAM for it, or buy a complete coreboard with PX5 and 2GB RAM
There is a seller on aliexpress that sells a coreboard but i on mine i written MTC_RK3188_REV0.3 and on the coreboard that is available from the seller it is written: HCT-PX5-REV8.0(LPDDR) see attached pictures.
Can someone tell me if i can swap mine with the one from the seller? I really need the 2GB RAM upgrade but i cannot find the right chips to replace mine so i decided to go ahead and buy the whole board (SoM)
Thanks,
Yes you can swap.
But instead of 2GB buy a 4GB coreboard:

I bought this in amazon.

The price is higher but if it doesn't works, Amazon will refund.
Last year I bought one px5/2gb from AliExpress, and works for 2 hours. The vendor say that it was made only for whitson head units and I loose 90$... Be careful.

That`s why i am asking and not rushing to spend 90-100USD for something i am not sure it will work with my unit!
I actually don`t see why the boards that are for sale with the PX5 and 2-4GB would not work if swapped with mine but prefer to get some users opinion from those who actually did the swap already.
Not all the links at aliexpress say that your HU needs to be WITSON in order for the swap to work, even though they look the same.
I really need the 2GB upgrade, but it seems impossible to me to find the compatible chips to swap mine with the 2GB upgraded ones.
The ones i find made by the same company have a difference in two of the letters in the marking which i am not sue could be ignored, maybe it could be ignored....i don`t know for now.
H5TC8G63AMR H5TQ4G63AFR
The F and M difference is what bothers me the most since F is FBGA SDP (Single Die Package) and M is FBGA DDP 2CS (Dual Die Package)
I see on the net upgraded memory with different brand chips, but the threads are very old and they were making a group order back then for those chips, so it`s a no go.....

No, the more i think of it, the more i think it`s better to buy a new unit with 2 or even 4GB of RAM and way better CPU. The price for just the board is around $100, and just to gain 1GB of RAM.......not worth the money!
I would do a chip swap if i had the chips, but it seems that they are hard to find to as a spare part.
Hey guys -
Updating a really old head unit (mtcb) that's starting to die - need help deciding:
Vanku 10.1" (PX5 based): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08D3DMC7Q : $279.54 USD (on prime day, usually $339.99)
Dasaita 10.2" (PX6 based) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VBBZFBG : $499 USD
Both have 4GB RAM / 64GB ROM
I'd like to have a front camera, and it seems like the dasaita already has that in the harness - also, I was hoping to have wireless android auto (the vanku says its cable only). Not sure its worth the extra $220 though. Any thoughts?
Here is my feedback, just in case :
The Dasaita official store on Aliexpress provides fast shipping and an excellent support, even several months after the purchase.
Usually they answer within 3h (depending their local time off course) .
I ordered mine on aliexpress and paid more because of taxes then it would have been on amazon
do both do wireless android auto?
I wanted to try AA on mine but once the headunit is customized it gets more efficient than AA so I never did. My phone shares 4g to the HU using a WiFi hotspot and the phone calls are streamed by Bluetooth. AA won't do it better.

It's an android head unit. Using AA on it is kind of useless and redundant.
PX6 is noticeably snappier

No, they run a hacky screen mirroring app.
Only certified devices are true Android Auto, these are a modified Android.

I have the Dasaita you listed and am no longer using it. Now using a 1DIN PX6 because it is custom for my vehicle and looks nicer. As for PX5 vs PX6, I think the PX6 gets better benchmarks. I had to add a fan in all cases. For example if one tries to copy a large amount of data externally (from USB, SD card, or wifi) to the internal sd, it fails without a fan. If interested in my "old" unit pm me.
Although this is just my opinion I spent a few months researching Android head unit and although dasaita seemed like one of the higher-end options the more digging I did the more problems I seen that people had whether it be flickering screen poor lighting large gap between screen and glass lots of issues with people having whining noise coming through their speakers bad compatibility with amplifiers however I have not owned one myself. Also from all the research I saw the px5 units are pretty slow I bought a px6 unit and I have never been disappointed with speed the one that I bought is a vanku but it is not the tenant it's just the double DIN 7-inch 4 gig 64 GB came with Android 10 and is easily rootable

I found this headunit on Ali and seems interesting, what do y’all think?

What do you think. How have you identified the manufacturer of the unit and reviewed forum posts to make at least an initial attempt on buying decision.
Recently purchased the 8g/128g 2k screen unit from this seller. The android 12 is a fake. It has android 10 api 29 installed. Other than that its a generic FYT 7862 unit. Customer support is quick but tends to shake things off regarding android version.
