Color Change in Google Calendar - Honor Note 10 Questions & Answers

Hello everybody,
I start to be a little frustrated.
In my Google Calendar my appointment color is green.
After -I cannot really say how many hours- it will change to orange on the cell-phone.
I thought the reason is that the Huawei calendar is set to orange, so I set that color to green.
I found out, just now, that the color changes itself back to orange.
How can I let my appointments stay in green - and preferrably in the dark Google green, not the brighter Huawei green?
If I turn off the appointments in the Huawei calendar - the appointments of the Google calendar in the cell phone disappear.
Has anyone got an idea, how this problem can be solved?
I didn't have those kind of issues with the Honor Note 8.
Greets,
Julia

Hello everyone,
so, new day same issue. No one has any idea, how I can get rid of that problem?
And it was the Honor NOTE 8 not the Honor 8.
Please I am despreate, since I find this extremely annoying.
Greets,
Julia

Hi all of you,
I installed Google Play from the Huawei App Gallery.
As it appears the problem seems to have to do with Huawei's own calendar.
Because if I eliminate the check-mark for the google calendar, all my appointmens in Google calendar on my cell phone disappear and only on my cell not in Google account
But the color for the Google calendar in Huawei's calendar is set to green. It changes itself back to orange and that orange 'overrwrites' the green from Google calendar.
Please has anyone got an idea what I can do to get rid of this problem?
Greets,
Julia

I too am having the same problem. I have several google accounts. A work 1 and a personal 1 a 1 or 2 others. The colours have all changed and I don't know how to to change them back to what I originally set them as. I set Blue Which is now purple on my personal account and the other colours have changed too.
Also on a weird note, sometimes (Maybe certain times of the day?) they go back to normal colours) ??? but always return to odd colours after a while????
Just can't figure it out.

Hello generic2,
wow, I really started believing I am the only one having this problem.....
I found the solution in the internet. The same problem seemed to have started occuring since the Huawei P20 series.
I hope you will find it, since I have to translate from the German menu.
Go into preferences, then Apps & Notifications (or notifications & Apps), from there it should be the third "topic/menu" called something like:
"permit/permissions" / "rights" / "authorization/authority" / "justification" / "access right".
Then you cancel all the rights for the Huawei calendar...... there you go - the colors don't change anymore (at least not on my cell phone).

I just tried this and I hope this works
I'm a new EMUI user (Got the Honor 8x!) and this was one of things I could not stand happening since I have a calendar widget on my home screen.
Anyways! Thanks for the tip~

Hiya,
I'm having the same issues, on a Huawei Mate 20 X with EMUI 9.
I've tried your solution. That works, but it also stops the synchronisation of my calendar with Google. If I only give permission to the Google stuff it starts happening again.

ClickCal

I've been working on this app for some time. I'm aware of the risks in using non-public API parts eg. Android calendar, but I needed the app features myself and so did many of my friends. So I've published it as a free app on Android market and it's been well received, but every now and then I get another error message. As I don't have any information on the phone or OS in question it's really hard to figure out what could be wrong. I typically test apps on 3 phones that I have readily available (HTC Hero, LG Optimus, SE X10 Mini Pro) and with Android 2.1 & 2.2. It would be great to hear if this app works as it should on your phones and if it breaks where/how it happens.
Your app looks quite useful.
Here's a clickable market link.
Do you mind adding some screenshots to your original post so we can get a better picture (pun intended)?
Edit: In case you don't add pics yourself, I've attached three from your market entry.
Edit 2: Here's the market description (for the lazy)
Android Market Description said:
ClickCal is a perfect blog tool, personal, family and work calendar app that allows you to create events and tasks by taking photos and/or via voice recording. No typing is required to create an event. Snap a photo of a document and save - your event is ready. Use your phones built-in camera to scan your paper invitation, dentist appointment note, screen of an e-mail/web page and your event is ready. You can record a voice message to add to the event as well. Optionally you can select event type, choose the calendar, set date and time, and if you really want to type you can add a description and location.
Adds an icon that allows to quick add an event from the desktop.
Syncs with Google calendar. Note: event images and audio can not be viewed in other calendar applications as they do not support this feature.

The background of creating this app is that I got really tired of trying to manage our kitchen bulletin board. Full of paper docs of kids school stuff, sports events & other activities and naturally no sync with phone or other calendars. Typing in the info sounded like a nightmare. So I was thinking how I could get those digitalized easily. ClickCal solves that problem. Later a friend asked how she could handle taking notes of customer meetings while driving back from the meeting. I proposed adding an audio recording feature to ClickCal. Next feature coming up is being able to log the GPS/Wlan -based location with the event.
But I've been having some issues with sporadic error reports coming in - and I can't reproduce the errors as the app works fully on my 3 phones.
I installed it to my epic 4g but will not open, say that i need to setup my google account (which i have) on my phone before using Clickcal???????
Oh, and as a side note, I have featured this nice app on the XDA home page.
I'm getting error messages a couple of times per week. Previously they were usually caused by Motorola having a different calendar provider address. Took me a while to figure out that they changed it back to the standard one when they moved from 2.1->2.2. That was finally solved with ClickCal version 1.6.2.
Samsung with 2.2.1 not working is news to me. The error message is probably caused by the app not finding Samsung's calendar provider. Haven't been able to test on 2.2.1 yet. So there's clearly more to the story. App testing is really the biggest issue with Android - many phones with variable screens and OS-versions.
Thanks for the testing. One step ahead.
Just got an idea: some phones like Samsungs come with the manufacturers own calendar app. They might not be 100% compatible with the Google Android calendar.
Was the test with the pre-installed Samsung calendar or the Google standard one?
Thanks - but a little bit too soon I'm still trying to figure a couple of reported issues.
HTC Thunderbolt, 2.2 Stock
downloaded, installed, opened-- "No Calendars Available. No google calendars were found on your phone. you need to setup your google account on your phone before using ClickCal". application then closes. can't get past that text box.
i have at least 8 Google Calendars & have been using this phone since launch day 3 weeks ago, so my gmail account is setup on the phone successfully & all calendars can be viewed on the phone through the stock Calendar app.
Dev, please fix--i'm pretty curious about this app & its capabilities.
Ok, thx for the feedback. Will work on this over the weekend. I was wondering that the retention rate was pretty low for an app I consider useful. Not wondering anymore if it doesn't even start up on some phones...
Anyway, I'm happy I found this site - without it I'd still be deep in the woods.
If you need note taking with the camera and/or audio recordings, but without the calendaring part I've also published ClickNote on android market. Based on the same principles, but no calendar. I haven't had any issues with ClickNote so far from any users.
The Samsung calendar
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
I'm getting the no google calendar message then its exiting too.
On sony Ericsson x10.
Sent from my wolf 2.2 X10i using XDA App
Ugh - Sony Ericsson as well. I've actually developed this app for the SE X10 Mini Pro.
Ok, but based on the feedback on this board and a little more research I think I've discovered the problem. It's due to the manufacturers eg. built-in calendar which is not 100% compatible with the standard Android calendar. Now I can finally fix this issue. I'll develop a check for the calendars on the phone to test that they function correctly with ClickCal. On some phones it will probably mean that ClickCal will only work with the Google calendars.
Here is the logcat from my xperia x10. Hope it helps.
Finally got it! Thx for the X10 logcat output you sent. It showed that ClickCal was considering your phone as having Android 2.1.
Since the calendar provider is different (calendar vs. com.android.calendar) between 2.1 and 2.2 I'm doing a check on the OS version of the phone. Well my nice version string match was against "2.1". I think 2.2.1 might also match this
Just published version ClickCal 1.7 on Android market. Several fixes, but most importantly should work with Androdi 2.2.1 and hopefully Samsung stock calendar setup.

Don't have time to test it fully at the moment but i have installed the update and it recognises the google calendar and appears to work properly. I'll test it over the weekend fully hopefully.
Thanks for your quick response.
Ok i have tested it now ... i have a couple of things.
It only shows the main calendar that i have on my phone, not my holidays or birthdays calendar (these are both listed on the dropdown list at the top) it just doesn't pick up any appointments from them.
Is there a way to get it to add and appointment by long pressing at the correct time? I can't get used to having to go to the top and click new event.
Also can you get it to swipe left and right for next/previous day in the day view and not just the monthly view?
Also i know this is minor but can you move the save button to the bottom of the page? Or change its colour slightly? It is really hard to see.
Other than that i really like the app.
THanks

Are those holiday/birthday calendars internal phone calendars or google calendars? If you can do a few selections on these calendars and send me the logcat I can check what's happening.
Long-click to add event is a good idea - was thinking to enable long-click from the monthly view eg long click on a day to add event. But it's trivial to add to the day/agenda views as well. It may be hard to hit the exact right time though - the rows are narrow when there are no events on them.
Swiping to move days back/forward on day view is in the plans.
The Save button is on the bottom on some phones, but not all. Depends on screen sizes. I tried to optimize the view for the smallest screen eg the X10 Mini Pro. Perhaps a good idea would be to make the button full width and change the color?
Thx for the feedback. Will look into those items for the next release. Priority on the missing calendar data.
I have one google account with multiple calendars.
I can see the calendars etc but it only give info from one.
I tried to swap between them here. (logcat added)
Hope this helps

[Q] No Gmail notification on lockscreen (5.1.1)

After updating to 5.1 .1 (manual update) I cannot find a way to turn on lockscreen notification for Gmail (= in notification center Gmail does not show up in the application list).
Quite annoying, as I used to getting Gmail notifications under 4.4 (with NiLS widget).
- turning on built in 'email' notification is not a solution to me (I don't want to use the Huawei mail app, but want to stay with Gmail)
- unistalling (actually not possible; rather disabling and re-enabling) the Gmail app does not help
- downloading, installing Inbox solves the issue, as I can get Gmail lockscreen notifications from Inbox -but as I use Gmail for my business account, the completely random, chaotic design of Inbox does not suit my life..
- and please, don't advice the standard 'do a factory reset' ; it does not solve the issue.
Any further ideas, suggestions on this issue, please? I really do miss Gmail notifications on my lockscreen.
Hi, got same issue with my new Honor 7. No gmail notifications on LockScreen, gmail and many other pre-installed google apps aren't in Huawei Notification Center. It seems i can't remove google pre-installed apps (I tried, only delete updates)... Any ideas?
If you're rooted remove the Gmail app with SD Maid or similar, then reinstall from Play Store and it should appear on the list. I tested this successfully on B327.

Same here with the Huawei Ascend Mate 7. I can't uninstall the google apps... So, no notification on LockScreen, too.
It's just amazing how Huawei f***s up basic Android features again and again with each new firmware. So glad I switched phones ...
any news or other solution forma phone not rooted?
I got a Y6 and first of all, the "Notification Manager" shows an "Lockscreen Notification" for most app except for G-Mail of course ... which is just unacceptable but the fun thing is ... none of the installed and (directly) available Lockscreen Themes even support Notifications.
Huawei seems to feature no Quality assurance team whatsoever ... this will be my first and last Huawei phone. They can't even get the most essential and basic things right.

Huawei EMUI 5.0 Calendar app BUG deletes "duplicate" entries

I was having tons of problems with Google Calendar entries seeming self-deleting. It only occurred for events that I had also invited my wife to, like our weekly volleyball games. It turns out that since I share my wife's calendar to my Google account so I can view both of our upcoming appointments, the Huawei Calendar app (which can't be uninstalled, or disabled) was seeing the "duplicate" entries and trying to delete one. It always ended up deleting the entry from my calendar, which is where to invite originated, so it would end up cancelling the event for everyone. I would go into my calendar trash on the web and restore the event, only to have it self-destruct again 5-10 minutes later!
The solution:
System Settings->Apps
Find the Huawei Calendar app (the first one if you also have the stock Google Calendar app installed) and click it
Select Permissions and revoke the calendar permission (I revoked them all, since I don't want the damn app anyway!)
This will render the Huawei Calendar app useless, so you'll have to install the stock Google one, but at least it's stopped the self-destructing calendar entries that were driving me insane!
This bug hits me pretty bad. Thank you for posting!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this. I could not for the life of me figure out why only certain events (ones I also invited my wife to) were getting deleted and/or "cancelled" automatically. I had tried not syncing my Google account's calendar at all and that fixed it, but was also a pain in the ass to go to the mobile site all the time. Never would have thought to deny permissions to the EMUI calendar. Seems to have worked so far.
Thanks so much for this. I had it happen where it deleted an invite to more than a dozen colleagues.
Thanks, I thought I was going crazy. This will help me out until I can replace this phone. This software is just a joke.
Hi, I had same problem with Honor 7, but now have Honor 9 with EMUI 5.1 is this fixed in this version or still need to revoke the calendar permission ?
Thank you so much for sharing this. It is really helpful.

After updating to EMUI 9, a mountain picture is displayed for each contact

hi together
In EMUI 8 on HUAWEI P20, a contact without a profile picture was displayed with its initials in the contact list. After updating to EMUI 9, a mountain picture is displayed for each contact. This is shown in the contact list as well as for notifications or incoming and outgoing calls. This looks very bad and all pictures look similar. How can I disable these automatic profile pictures so that the initials are displayed again?
I don't think you can. I find it rather bad, myself, but hey...
it is sad, i find it really ugly and confusing if many contacts have the same profile picture
This is so incredibly hideous, and there really seems to be no way to get rid of it.
If a solution doesn't come up I'll have to roll back to 8.1, there is no freaking way I'm going to stick with my phone having a bright pink background most of the time I use it. What the actual duck where they thinking? I'm shocked.
I noticed that this is only the case in the Huawei contact app. In the standard Google Contact app the initials are displayed. But only Gmail accounts can be added to the Google Contact app. My contacts are stored in an Exchange account. Which again looks like a Huawei nonsense, because with an Android pure you can also add Exchange accounts to the Google Contact app. So i can't switch to the Google Contact app.
How could I downgrade to EMUI 8.1?

I actually like that mountain screen but of course you can replace it. Depends on what dialer you are using. For example I'm using Contacts+ and in the settings of the app you can choose either to use system call screen or the app ones with profile picture logos.

Question P50 Pro in the USA. Update: Working GMS

Hello guys.
The forum for this device was a bit quiet so i figured I'd jump in.
My P50 Pro should arrive here in the states in a couple days. Ordered the CN model from WondaMobile.
Currently using a P40 pro without any Google hacks. Other than micro G to make notifications work on a few apps. Along with YouTube vanced.
I'll update this post once i get the device in. I'm really excited though. I'm still semi new to Huawei devices and I can't believe I've been missing out this whole time.
Anyone else have any experiences importing the Chinese model in? I've imported and used China model Xiaomi phones on CN ROM without issues in the past. My P40 pro is a global model though. Id imagine it's as simple as setting to English and deleting Chinese bloat.
You'll be now a target for secret services !!! )
A new traitor ... ) Hahaha ...
On Huawei phone(s) is not so much bloatware, maybe just few preinstalled sugestions for apps; on global models, I don't know about CN models ...
I bought Huawei (global) models since the Ascend P6 (P6, P7, P9, P10 lite, Mate10 pro, P40 pro, Mate40 pro).
Is not such a big deal without GMS, we can live without it very good. Since the ban, I bought P40 pro (I had installed GMS on it from the start) and Mate40 pro (nothing about GMS here).
Yes, we have few limitations without GMS, but I think we can live with them like so.
MicroG, YouTube vanced, Curve or iCard for banking apps substitute ... is not ideal, but we can go further.
Well guys. I'm going to a longer write up when I get some time. But here are just a few quick thoughts
Camera specifically pictures are great.
I banged my head for a while trying to get microG to stay active in background for my notifications on apps from Aurora store.
Micro G + Aurora and really don't miss Google very much. Apart from Google photos which is going to be a process b
I also purchased a Matebook 14s, Free buds pro and Watch 3.
Matebook and phone integration is honestly superior to Apples in my opinion. Freebuds switches between the two incredibly intuitively and fast.
That's about all for my initial thoughts for now.
I ran into a really weird issue. I had micro G installed for push notifications initially it kept dying in the background despite battery optimization being turned off as well as being locked in the drawer.
I noticed the "app launch" setting wouldn't allow me to manage micoG core manually and let it autostart etc. It literally didn't appear even when selecting show system process.
I installed, uninstalled over and over. I tried different forks etc
One time I added stock MicroG via repo on Fdroid and BAM it showed up in the app launch settings to control it manually and allow autostart. IT WORKED FLAWLESSSLY. Stable notifications from that point forward.
Well I screwed around and factory reset my phone for another reason. Now I cannot get MicroG core to show up under app launch to allow it to be manually managed. Therefore it keeps dying in the background. Does anyone have any clue how I made it work the first time around? and why it won't show up to manage manually anymore in the "app launch" setting??
Alright guys I banged my head on this wall for a LONG time but I've done it. I've got stable 95% working GMS on this p50 pro kirin chip model. No micro G BS. Full GMS.
I basically used Average Logs guide on youtube to install Googlefier and the Chinese looking Google install app. BUT after that I stopped following his guide and just followed the actual Googlefier steps.
Playstore opens, and lets me download everything. LOTS of apps give a play protect warning but goes away and lets you open the app. Then you can disable Google Play Protect notifications in the notification settings for each individual app. Once you disable it most apps work complete fine, although some are bit turbulent and slow getting started for the first time you launch them. Some of them have some quirky behavior as well.
But the following APPs are working for me, to the point where they either function completely normally or 95% normally.
Google App
Youtube (wants you to update play services to Cast videos to my Google Home which I don't want to do in fear of breaking my set up)
Youtube Music
Youtube TV
Google Voice
Google Photos
Gmail (although it pesters you a bit a pop in app that can be dismissed and functions fine)
Google Chrome
Google Messages works fine (I've almost got RCS working as well but it seems hung up at connecting)
Google Dialer.
Google Drive
Google Maps signed in works but has a consistent occasional play protect warning that doesn't hinder use.
I cannot get Google TV app to open at all
Google Home seems like a complete no go.
Google Assistant will open and let you tinker a bit but can't respond to queries nor reach the server.
Overall I'm pretty happy. Phone is great. Notifications are completely stable. and most google apps work without issue.
Let's hope the next harmonyOS update doesn't break it. Also disable autoupdates on Google Play services because I think a newer version will break it.
hi. can you please tell me if your system haptics are working fine?
i mean on the dialer when you press numbers, do you have vibration feedback or only sound?
and on which firmware version are you?

the same here. no option to turn it on. i think is some kind bug. on my p40 pro with haptics on on dialer there was vibration
To update my thread, even though it's a ghost town. Sad because this is a great device.
I was able to get RCS Chat working today with the Google Messages app.
Two days ago I was an IDIOT and cleared all data on Google Play services trying to get Google Home to work (Despite the fact I barely use it instead I use HASS)
Somehow it ended up updating my Play services which broke everything. I then redid the Googlefier method and it completely installed GMS without any issues. THIS Time however it completely installed GMS with ZERO play protect pop ups. Which sounds great right? Completely stable GMS right?
Well the problem is now notifications were completely broken. I'd rather have have the 90% working GMS AND push notifications than 100% working without PUSH.
So after tinkering for a bit I got it back to the way I had it prior to. Most Google apps work completely fine after the first play certified warning. Then you can silence those. And push notifications work fine. It's something to do with the Google Framework Services step on Googlefier. You have to actually mess up the proper instructions. Not sure what specifically at this point.
Thanks for the various updates. I have been using a P50 Pro since September and am really happy with it. However, to me, the various options for installing GMS are a bit like trying to crack a nut with a sledgehammer. And even after all of the installation etc. you have to freeze play service which effectively turns off app updates, so that seems to take away most of the benefit of all that hard work?
The simplest option (for me at least) was to use GSpace and just clone any apps that I needed (really just Google Photos and a few others that use the maps api) into the GSpace area. You can even create homescreen shortcuts. You can also achieve the same with Vmos.
Everything else works just fine within Harmony OS and no problem with any notifications for all other apps like WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram etc. Curve works well in Harmony OS as an alternative to Google Pay. Various app updates via APK Pure.
But no matter how you approach it, it's still a great phone!
hi
did any one of you received firmware updates ever? and which country you have set in the phone?
i see that in china new firmware is rolling out.
HarmonyOS 2.0.1.195 SP5 update
I set up the phone in Europe. and have had a few updates (maybe 2 or 3?) Currently on HarmonyOS 2.0.0.235 but presume the update you refer to will roll out over the coming week or so.
Thanks for the thread here. My question: I do not know if I installed micro G correctly. Main problem for now is that I use a gmail account for my contacts and calendar. The synchronization does not work for me. That mean, I get my contacts only by importing them to my smartphone. Should this work with micro G? I also can not find a good tutorial eg on Youtube or maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Got my P50 pro today; in itself completely thrilled.
Thanks for your help!
hi. anyone received this new firmare update?
@Flying Fox: you have to import your contacts on the Huawei ID.
If you have an old Huawei with GMS it's easy, you can login with your Huawei ID on it, import your contacts from gmail account to your Huawei ID, then you can login with your Huawei ID on the new phone and sync your contacts.
Be sure you will add the new contacts into your Huawei ID (on your new phone).
If you don't have an old Huawei to do that, you can save contacts on the old phone as vCars, export that file on the new phone, then import contacts from vCard file on the Huawei ID.

Thank you very much for your help. The problem is that appointments and new contacts are not synchronized. I think therefore rather to create a new email account, eg outlook or protonmail.
However, I think that micro g does not work for me. Currently I am trying to transfer my signal account (from my Oneplus 6 pro). This also does not seem to work. Or can it be that this does not work at all.... ? Thx!!
btw, does anyone know a tutorial for installing micro g that works under emui 12.01? On youtube I found a very good one in german, only it doesn't seem to work for me...
You can uninstall all you have about vanced and microG.
Then, on vancedapp.com, you can find Vanced manager. Install it, open it and find there YouTube vanced and Vanced microG.
Install both without open them.
Then, into phone settings - apps -apps - microG settings, you can turn off Cloud messaging first, then turm off Cloud device registration. Open YouTube vanced and login with your account.
Now you must have usable YouTube vanced and microG.
On Mate40 pro, without GMS aswell, I use Yahoo mail for gmail and yahoo accounts, and Business calendar pro for events.
Try that way ...
LE: you have contacts imported on Huawei ID allready and doesn't sync ? (and in the phonebook set to show your Huawei ID contacts)

Try that way ...

Click to collapse
