I have an Huawei Ascend from MetroPCS that I have rooted and updated to android 2.2. All went well for about a week until I accidentally deleted Talk, I started getting the force close for a lot of my apps and my wifi was cutting out. Today I noticed that I had zero bars and looked under phone status only to find that "My phone number" is now "Unknown". Does anyone know how to set that or do I have to go back to factory and call Metro? Also the link for the recovery package (MetroPCSStock Recovery Package with Scripts) redirects to another sight, do I have to sign up for that sight to get the recovery file? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
One other thing when I boot up my phone it has a message that reads "no UIM card Emergency calls only". Is this like a SIM card in which case Metro phone don't have those so I am probably screwed.
hey man I am having the same exact problem NO UIM card emergency calls only Please insert a UIM card I even flashed to a backup image I made liek 15 days prior to having this problem tonight and still didn't make any differnace bro I dont know wtf to do now...
Short and sweet. I am unable to activate data all of a sudden on Sprint. My other family member's phones work fine, but I cannot update the profile or the PRL. It just says "Network Error, try again later." Phone calls work fine, and my baseband and all that jazz are showing. It also shows 3G occasionally, but it still says network disconnected. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Update: I've reflashed EFS, and that seems to get me data on most ROMs, except Android L and stock 4.4.4. The second they try to do hands-free/update profile or prl, the update fails and I can't get data. Any ideas? Could it possibly be my SIM card? What's weird is that even when I have a data connection(like on the restored efs), I still can't update profile or PRL...
I've searched the internet for the past week, and nothing has worked. I haven't had a chance to call Sprint and complain, but this is starting to be quite frustrating. I've had data the whole time, but I still can't update profile/prl or complete the hands-free activation. So I can't even go back to stock, because when I do the factory image, the hands-free fails.
Eww sorry man. Probably APN.

What the.... So apparently sometime last night, my PRL updated on its own, like it's supposed to(old one was from old efs restore). But I still can't manually force the two to updates. So hands-free still fails upon a reset. This practically confirms that my phone is fine, because clearly it can receive the updates, just not pull them down. I'll call them today and #blamesprint.
APNs should be restored upon efs flash right? If not, how do I check them? The APN menu in settings doesn't appear when on the Sprint network.

You'll have to download an APN app off of the Play Store. When I had Sprint there was weird issues with the bearer field. Also they have like 4 different APNs stock and there was one like i.ispnt or something that seemed to work but you had to select between bearer EHRPD (LTE network routed EVDO) or LTE.
All APN apps are giving me an error saying SIM card unknown, even when installed to system. One even says Virgin Mobile. Could this be an issue with my SIM card?
Could be a problem with your SIM card. I'd just take it into a Sprint store quickly and get it resolved.
I fiddled with APNs, there were 12 there(!), so I reentered the correct 5 and could reliably get data. I factory reset and now my phone is unprogrammed(no MIN and wrong phone number), I'm just going to go yell at Sprint now. :fingers-crossed:
Sprint was useless, the tech kept blaming the phone, saying things like "Nexus phones don't have dialer codes" and "your IMEI is bad(WTF?)", then she noticed the padlock on the boot screen where she refused to go further, saying that I tampered with my device. After I informed her that it was MY device(purchased unlocked from Google) and that Sprint had no legal claim to that device, she redirected me to Advanced Phone Support. She also refused to give me a new UICC card, saying that "it couldn't be the problem." I'm done with Sprint for the week, so I'm just going to go custom again and just set the APNs properly each time. Even on stock/L, I can just flash the Sprint APN zip to automatically fix them, correct? If so, where could I find the latest APNs? The latest zip I have is from March or so I believe. Thanks!
Also out of curiousity, how hard do you think it would be to force my way out of a contract ETF-free? I figure if they can't prove it's my device that's faulty, and they aren't giving me a product that I'm paying for.......

thats easy force it to data roaming and start streaming the heck out of anything and everything overnight. Sprint will terminate your contract if your roaming data is consistently to high.
I have a Kyocera Dura xt that I need to do an OTA update on in order to get my data services working correctly. My phone is a sprint phone, but my carrier is Qlink. As soon as I type in the code to perform the update I get promoted for my msl code. Qlink says they don't have it since its a sprint phone and I need to call sprint. Sprint tells me since I'm not a customer and the phone was never activated with them, they won't give it to me. I've called sprint five times only to be told the same thing every time. Since its not an android phone I can't use any apps like msl readers or logcat. I also can't do any adb commands to get it. I've also tried coma workshop. Version 2.7 gives me a range check error when I try to read my phone and version 3.9 only supports reading the msl if you pay to register. I also tried qpst but for some reason it can't read my phone's file system. At this point I'm about ready to give up and try to start brute forcing, but trying a million combinations by hand doesn't seem practical. Any ideas?

If you have a method that works but requires paying, then just pay for it and get it over with instead of chasing your tail. You may inadvertantly cut your own throat in the process trying other ways.

Good evening,
Hate to bother everyone since you're all busy, however i've been trying for 2 days now to do a couple things with this new phone. This LG Aristo 2 was handed to me by a sister in law (not purchased from swappa); What we've been trying to do is have the Phone unlocked and used for T-mobile however it appears that no matter how much we try resetting the phone, booting the unlock app and being greeted with a "Unlock failed: Phone already unlocked" screen and using a different SIM. The phone will pick up the signal, turn to 'searching...' and then connect to the network again but not allow calls/data to go through, The APN settings are also correct.
So plan B is to reinstall the stock android software (kdz) from https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-lmx210ma-firmwares/; Unfortunately i'm always greeted with an error saying that it cannot complete. Unsure what else to do at this point, Any recommendations?
To clarify, the reason why I'm trying to ensure the unlock has been successful is because we plan to use for calls and data. Texting seems to work, the APNs are correct but data services and calls don't seem to go through, unsure why.
To unlock it via app, you can spend $7ish on eBay. It would take 2 days to get it unlocked.
Galaxy S22 Ultra (SM-S908U1) USA model unlocked purchased directly from Samsung.
Running on T-Mobile. I replaced the original SIM card with eSIM several months ago so I have two different IMEI numbers.
Just updated the phone OTA to the June security update a couple of days ago when it finally became available for my phone.
Yesterday I tried to update some apps in the Galaxy Store and they wouldn't update. The screen just sort of jumped up a little, then down. After trying numerous times without success, I decided to try first signing in and out of my Samsung account which didn't work, then I tried deleting my Samsung account. When I tried to go back into Settings/Samsung account, I got an error message every time: "IMEI (or MEID) is empty". This same error message shows up when I try to sign into Samsung Pass, Accounts/Backup data, Biometrics and security/Find my phone, Galaxy Store app, pretty much anything that seems to have a tie in to my Samsung account.
I did a full factory data reset, but the problem is still there. I sort of remember updating a couple of apps in the Galaxy Store a couple of days ago and it worked fine. Could the June update process have done something to my phone, and how do I fix it?
Could be the esim that's at fault. Can you revert to sim card?
I still have the old SIM card, but it was deactivated when I had the eSIM activated.

Well, well. I decided to try your advice and inserted the old SIM card, then restarted the phone and...voila! I now have access to my Samsung account and the Samsung apps work. Thanks very much for your advice!
Missed this. Yes, if you insert ANY sim card, even a new, unused one will fix this. Once you sign in to the app successfully, you can remove that sim. Seems to be a bug introduced in the JUNE update.
That works for me until I turned the phone off in which case it lost the MEID again until I used another SIM.
if you use a non-working simcard, you will have problems with Apps & downloading. It stands to reason that this will occur. Plus ESIM is a relatively new addition and there will be bugs.
