Some apps got updated recently. But they lost the custom notification sound. No matter what motification sound I set in the app, it gives default sound. The app's developer no direct reply on this issue. Any experience this and kow how to fix it please?
This is a fault with your phone and not the apps. HTC know about the problem they just can't be bothered to fix it. There is a thread or two on here already. The only way to fix it involves installing an old version of settings which you can only do if your phone is rooted.

Don't know why the older app version play custom notification sound correctly.
I have to uninstall the new version and install the previous version.

Hi all,
I found a few other people with this issue but no definitive answer on how to fix it.
Just got the ICS update from Orange and all is well (after having to do a factory reset as messages wouldn't load) apart from ringtones.
If I set my own tones for email and txt and ringtones it will work, but any kind of reboot will set it back to default, and it also seems to be if the phone has slept for a long time it will lose the ringtones.
All tones are in either '/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones(notifications or alarms)'
or they are in '/sdcard/ringtones(notifications or alarms)'
These have always worked on previous android versions.
Now, I find what seems to cause this is the SD card not syncing correctly, it is mounted and if I unmount/re-mount it, sometimes the tones will come back.
If I go to 'personalise->sound' The tones say;-
ringtone = quietly brilliant
notification = zeta
alarm = new day
But if I click on the sound set itself it tells me that all my personalised tones are selected.
This is getting very annoying as I will have my ringtone for a few hours, then all of a sudden it jumps back to whatever it fancies.
Is there a known bug or a fix for this, it's only been since the update to ICS.
Thanks for reading and hopefully I have described the issue enough to make sense.
Darren
It's a known issue. I push all of my custom ringtones to its respective directory in /system/media/...
Simple work around.

Ok, thanks.
I kinda knew it would be the answer but wanted to check I wasn't the only one with the problem.
Do you know if this is an ICS issue or is it a sensation issue?
Darren
I think it's an issue with the restarting "media" service

There have been guesses for both, but I believe it happens in the senseless roms as well...

You can also add ring tones and notifications by
Settings- sound- phone ring tone - menu soft key- more ringtone - New ringtone
This way you won't lose ringtones when rebooted. You can also add alarms and notifications the similar way

Thanks for all the answers, I will give them all a go.
With regards to putting the files directly on the phone do I need root access (im not near a pc until later) as I don't really root my devices since them seem pretty stable nowadays.
Thanks

Yes, you would need root access.
ok, thanks to all
I have written an email to HTC to explain the issues and ask when they will fix the problems.
I know Android is still classed as 'a bit geeky' in terms of OS but now it is used on so many devices we shouldn't need to root our phones to change the ringtone, it's almost as bad as an iPhone
If I hear anything back from HTC I will post in this thread.
Darren
I wondered if there had been any update on this? I have tried various Android 4.1 and 4.2,2 roms and it always happens after a reboot (currently CM10.1). I have even tried converting the ringtone to OGG format, placing it the \system\audio\ringtones folder (on phone) and fixing the permissions but that did not work!
I'm (obviously) rooted with an HTC Desire HD. Thanks!
Does anyone know of any fix for this? If Windows users had to set their default browser every time Microsoft put out an update to Internet Explorer, they'd have killed Bill Gates by now. Once a default is set I never again want to be asked what to use no matter if I updated the app in question, the other apps I could have chosen but obviously didn't for a reason, or I install or update some app that suddenly gains that capability.
It can't be that hard to set default flags and to prevent any apps from clearing them by merely being installed or updated.
Has anyone else had this gripe? I can't believe I'm alone. Is there any workarounds? PDroid? Some app? Anything?
No apps that I know of that will keep the default. they hold their setting until the app updates. I just click the button to make it a default again. You can turn off auto update if you have that turned on and then you will not have a problem.

But it is a problem. U very often need the latest versions of things to work properly like Skype which is a great example cuz updating that screws up the default calling, messaging, and I think video playback too. Then there are stupid ones like bit tornado which wants to be the default for every download link. It's just ridiculous! Imagine having to turn off Windows Update or anti-virus updates just so u don't have to re-specify all your damned defaults! It's ludicrous!
Well I would rather just click it then having to endure the alternative of the froyo days or even worse the iPhone.

I'm currently using Magio R3 and have been playing around with Volume Wake most of the day. So far it has been working fine. it hadn't failed on me once, but I will keep trying. Though I use the proximity sensor to turn on my phone which means I don't have to press any buttons.
I'm guessing your using Sense Toolbox Xposed framework add-on with the Volume Wake function? Have you tried updating Sense Toolbox from the Xposed app? I'm currently using the latest version, maybe that makes some difference? Also have you installed any kind of battery saver which might put your phone into deep sleep?

Are you s-off? In guessing not. If so you could use titanium or something similar to remove old toolbox first, then install new one.
Otherwise try Aroma File Manager from recovery, and delete the apk from System > Apps folder and install latest from Xposed. If after it doesn't work as expected, move the newly installed version apk from Data > Apps back to it's original location in System > Apps.

So, yesterday i installed 4.3 stock rom and than the latest xposed installer and the latest tool box.
But it´s still the same. It works one or two times and than no more.
I thought it is an app that make problems but i deleted a lot of them.
That´s all i know to do.
F...
i´m sure this a kind of deep sleep problem because all the other mods from the tool box works
without any problems.

I think this may run deeper, maybe kernel related? but that's where my knowledge stops. With my setup it's still been working flawlessly the last couple of days.
Maybe it has to do with where the app is installed, user or system? Maybe your superuser version? I do have a lot of apps installed with a few background processes that may keep things alive when the phone is idle. Could be a lot of things stopping this from working..

You write that you use the proximity sensor to wake up your phone.
That´s great, how does it works?
perhaps thats better than the volume keys.

I use gravity screen on off https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree. I don't use all the features of this app, just the proximity on, keep screen on with motion, and the gravity off feature, which turns your phone off when upside down. It runs a process in the background, but it's a small amount of ram it uses.

Hi guys,
I am trying to get rid of the annoying HTC Boomsound notification popping up everytime something plays some audio (mainly Spotify and Youtube, of course).
Some other people tried to cope with this thing in previous HTC models, but apparently none of them solved it. Some people mentioned that you can do it with root, but gave no hint about how (some mentioned Xposed or Gravity box).
What I figured out by myself, till now, is that there would be a quite easy way to do it: when that notification is on, you can half-slide it to the right to show the Setting gear. This leads directly to System notification manager. The last line is 'channel_anc', and I have a clue that if I could switch OFF that option, the notification would be gone. The problem is that all those buttons are greyed out (https://ibb.co/eN3nPe).
I guess that either I make the option editable (not greyed out), or I find some kind of app/workaround able to hide that kind of notification.
Of course, a cleaner solution would be preferable (I mean, without installing new apps). As always, the lighter the better.
Thank you for your help or ideas
Tap on channel_anc and then change the importance to low.

Already tried but no luck. The importance seems to be about suonds and "visual interruptions" (=popping up, I guess), but doesn't relate to the notification in the bar as far as i can see.
Were you ever able to hide the annoying boomsound from the tray?
LeeDroid Tweaks has the option to disable the boomsound notification. I'm running LeeDroid's Magisk ROM alongside his tweaks app.

I have a Oneplus 6 256GB, got it second hand in good condition, with original OxygenOS 10.3.5 ROM.
Works good, but two issues:
1. When calling a number I am unable to press keys for an automatically spoken menu and unable to mute microphone. Even when installing another dialer the issue persists.
2. The Quicksettings tiles cannot be edited or re-ordered, the pencil icon is missing and long pressing also does not do anything.
I have searched the internet, but no solutions found.
Anyone familiar with this issue ?

I would try to update. For me personally when I encountered a bug that I couldn't deal with I would switch to the beta version... And back to the regular build as needed. Running the beta is really easy. Of course OnePlus is fixing things still on this phone, but not as rapidly as before. And at some point they won't fix much at all, then your best option will be to move to a custom rom... Or another phone. I'm sure that's a year or so away though.

That's what I'd do. ☝ Maybe roll back using MSM tool and then update from there. When is the last time you formatted data @mermaidkiller ? Just curious. Just sounds like an issue that may happen if a good wipe wasn't done....Hope you get it fixed! I'm quite sure you know about MSM tool. Takes about three or four minutes to let it do its thing. Super easy to use!!
