Hi all-
I'm trying to watch a movie on the fuze, and while I love letterbox fullscreen on my plasma at home, on my 3" screen i'd like to get as much picutre as possible. I'd like the DivX player or CORE to play fullscreen like WMP does and takes up the whole screen portrait-wise. DivX will switch to portrait when put into fullscreen, but it leaves 1/3 of the screen blank on top and bottom. There doesn't appear to be settings to fix this. CORE gives you much more control over aspect-ratio, pixel size, screen size, zoom, etc etc. It even has an orientation setting, however I can't seem to get it to flip portrait and then go fullscreen. Anyone have any experience as how to accomplish this? I was going to try to find the 'rotate screen' icon on the programs tab (like the tilt used to have) then go back into the movie with CORE, but I don't think the fuze can do that
Anyone with anything helpful would be appreciated
Im not sure what you are asking, but that probably just me (its early). With core, I get full screen, in any orientation i want. Just tap the movie screen and it should go portrait...
divx player has a rotation option for when your in full screen.
could you let me know where that option is on divx player? when i tap the screen it brings up a volume slider (up/down) and a seek slider (left\right)
settings only says fullscreen doesnt appear to have any orientation option
and actually, with core, my movie (700mb) freezes up when i hit fullscreen. so itmay in fact play in landscape and use up the whole screen, but perhaps because the file is so large it seems to just freeze the screen - maybe i should let it sit for a few minutes see if it adjusts itself? audio continues playing, but picture freezes up
its some where in settings i dont remember and dont have divx reinstalled yet from my last flash. you can get out of full screen with a couple taps, i also dont remember off the top of my head. in settings there should be an option for no rotation or rotation left or right. the divx player is very simple, not alot of options. i dont think its also a great performer, its staggery (prolly just my videos). i havent used my fuze as a media device much since i only recently got it so i dont have any other suggestions.
How to change Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 Resolution from 1920x1200 to 1920x1080?
Basically they have this feature built in if you connect the HDMI cable to the tablet... then the tablet reboot in 1920x1080 and displays only on the HDMI screen (the tablet screen is off)
When you disconnect the HDMI cable it drops a notification every 1-2 minutes do you want to reboot back to normal 1920x1200 resolution and it keep asking till you agree and reboot.
My question is how i can turn it to 1920x1080 or just how to disable the notification that pop up over the screen?
I prefer not to root the device if its possible.
Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 working on Android 6
Thanks.
Hi, came across your question wile looking for a solution as well. I do have a work around for the constant ask for revert from console mode. But not sure if it works on Android 6. I'm on 5.1 still. Hate 6. I do the Console mode remove HDMI thing. Then I go on a rampage force stoping EVERYTHING I find running. I go to Settings/App/Running and force stop everything. Then the Show cached processes, also stop everything. (and I mean Everything I see, including all those google thing I dont need running at the time, tho most will turn themselves on again) Then to the 'All' apps tab and look for everything Nvidia/Shield related and force stop it. And it works. The nagging stop. I haven't figured out what is it that stop the message as I did this once on a rage for that stupid message and since it worked I do it like that every time. And I've play for well over 2+ hours without the message popping up
Oh, also, I don't have a controller but I have All-In-One Toolbox, that I also run to close everything after all the force stops. Just in case. Well with that app you can have a toolbar on the notification and add a 'Recent app' there. Which you can not only use to switch but if you tap it and then tap somewhere NOT on other apps you get send to Home screen. (Wish the add Home/Back as well)
I know it seems like a hassle. I only do this when I want to record something on Ultra and get 1920x1080 instead of that horrid 1728x1080.
OH! And the touch accuracy gets worst the closer you get to the upper/lower borders (on landscape) due to touch screen reading the 1200 pixels on a 1080 shrunk image. Takes some getting used too, but worthy to capture on an OCD friendly video resolution.
I'm on Stock 5.1.1, not root.
Gonna look for a ROM that can do 1080p and also keep the Navbar. And maybe even add 1 tap Screenshot/record shortcuts for the navbar. Old cheap tablet used to have that screenshot button on the nav bar. Which was awesome for quick snap at those special gaming moments.
Anyways, since you have 6, try going Settings/Apps/All and force stop everything Nvidia/Shield related. And let me know how it works. Running apps 5.1.1 management is one of the things that keep me on in. And how micro SD works.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I tried to force stop but it still pop up the notification to restore to 1920x1200.
About the Android 6, I love it Because of the SD format that turns your SD to be a part of your device storage.
I have a controller so i can navigate even without the nav bars
If i will find something i will update here.

Thanks for this post, it was answer to what I wanted to do with my tablet - getting full screen for HDMI output without console mode, which frankly would be actually worse even if it did't puck up with my Dualshock 3 (console mode for some reason closes/disables the DualShock 3 connection with the sixaxis app from Play Store) - when using Mirror mode I can use my Dualshock 3 fine and using terminal before starting to play makes the screen look glorious, especially with games like sonic 2 android or Final Fantasy IX android.
When I go into my gallery and click a video from the grid of photos and videos, it starts playing the video without the audio (even before I press play) and loops it as like an auto-generated preview of the video. Then, when I press play, it actually plays the video and audio together and shows the entirety of the clip.
How do I disable this? It's slow and glitchy and dumb. I want the clip to play when I click it, not just the video sans audio. And, to boot, it makes everything about 2-3 times slower to click and load due to a hitch/lag when you actually want it to play the clip.
I'm also experiencing a weird lag in the video player that I think might be a bug.
As I noted in the OP, when I open a video from the grid, it "previews" with white borders. If I click the play button in the center, my screen goes completely black for 1 second, then the video comes back, but this time with white borders, and then actually starts playing. So, I get like a 1.5-2 second lag between when I click the play button and when the video plays.
Does anyone else have this issue? I'm going to try turning video enhancer off and see what happens.

this stops the next video from playing. however, as EYC has mentioned - it's the looping of the video with the white bars that's the issue. my wife has the s7 and it doesn't display this behavior....

Does yours also temporarily go to a fully black screen when you hit the play button, causing the video to hitch between pressing play and it actually playing? That's what I find most irritating.

mine does exactly that. the fact that the video auto loops too drives me insane.
As a workaround to the stock gallery's wonky video player, I'm using Google Photos (which has its own built-in video player).
One of the cool things about Google Photos is you can access it directly from within the camera app. There's a setting called "Camera shortcut" within Photos, which overlays a shortcut thumbnail onto the camera. You can press and drag this thumbnail shortcut anywhere you want - you can even place it on top of the stock gallery thumbnail if you want. After you shoot a video or take a picture, the little thumbnail pops up and you can jump directly to Photos to watch the video or whatever.
Rather than use the work around suggested by Henrybravo, has anyone actually managed to find the toggle box to turn off auto play on the current selected video in Gallery? I have exactly the same issue as eyc and kdfdawg and it's driving me nuts!

This is not the issue! The problem is with Gallery, not Video Player. I've already turned off auto play next. I want to stop Gallery doing the silly silent looping video preview. There seems to be no setting to control this. I think it's a new "feature" in Gallery, and is really annoying. I have an S7 edge running Oreo.

Go into gallery app settings, go to "about gallery", where it says "version xxx.x.xxx.x" tap that seven times. Press back and there should then be "gallery labs" at the very bottom. Go in there, disable "video preview on picture list" close the app (make sure it's closed properly through "recent" then open gallery again and it should no longer show video previews!!
Samsung Gallery used to be good years ago.
Today it sucks. Try a 3rd party app like Gallery.
If anyone has a better freeware/ad free Gallery app,
please post it

This really solve my problem for android 10
Thanks a million
So I took delivery of my P20 Pro this afternoon. I'm reserving judgment on the camera but so far I'm pretty happy. There's one thing I'm completely flabbergasted by though
Huawei have replaced the stock 'double-tap power for camera' functionality with 'double-tap volume down'.
On the face of it this might not seem so bad, but it means a couple of things:
1 - you can't launch the camera quickly if you are actually using the phone. On other devices I would often be using an app when a photo opportunity arose, so with the Huawei I have to either go back to the home screen and click the camera app or press the power button and launch it from the lockscreen. This might not seem much but when a split second photo opportunity arises these couple of seconds can mean the difference between catching and missing a shot.
2 - you can't use the volume down method when you're playing anything. So if you're walking through the countryside playing your favourite album and suddenly a unicorn gallops past...again those couple of seconds mean you might miss the moment.
This might seem like nit picking but this is a *camera centric* phone. There's no advantage I can think of for the alternative camera shortcut method Huawei have adopted - the double-tapping power method serves no other conflicting purpose, and it's not even as if the volume down button is in a more convenient position.
I can't help but think this is a poorly conceived decision on Huawei's part - or worse still, change for change's sake.
I notice they've also turned the Oreo multimedia notifications into an exercise in excruciatingly unimaginative blandness - seemingly just to 'not be stock Androidy in any way'.
I'm not going to write off the phone as it seems like a nice bit of kit overall, but I really hope Huawei make some changes to the UI of this phone over its lifetime because I can't help but feel like some of their decisions (and they are very proactive decisions) are a little...shoddy.
You'll get used to it really quickly.
Also, it doesn't just open the camera, it takes a picture. Even tells you how quickly it has done it. I have found this really useful.. My kids sometimes do amusing things, but don't sit still for longer than a second,
It's impossible to get used to as I listen to podcasts and music on my phone all the time. How does it taking a picture make any difference anyway? Couldn't the same thing apply if they used the power button instead, or would that preclude this option?
Yeah there's literally no reason for them not to use the power button. It's just bad design all round.
It may be to keep functionality the same across all markets (IE too lazy) as it's a requirement in India that a triple press of the power button calls the emergency services. So they couldn't really leave in double press for camera in case of accidents.
Every other OEM destroys stock functions in one way or the other..
Did you try a button remapper app ?
Wouldn't it be easier to just press home and hit camera? Just saying. I've never used a quick launch and i've never missed a shot

How is that easier than double tapping the power button in literally any scenario - screen off, screen on, in an app, watching a video. If that scenario were just as easy then why would they (or anyone else) have a button shortcut at all?
The point is that no matter what I'm doing - whether the screen is off or not - I can double tap the power button and the phone vibrates and instantly opens the camera app, ready for a shot - so let's say I'm browsing Reddit sat on a park bench and a man dressed as Elvis runs past me pursued by a gaggle of geese - no problem - I won't miss that shot.
You might never have missed a shot and you might not use this feature but my point is not to force the feature on anyone - it's to ask why Huawei chose a worse methodology for quick launching the camera than the stock Android one - such as the one on my Nokia - and the one implemented by Samsung and LG (in their newest G7). The power button is not only separate from the volume buttons (and therefore easier to find 'blind') but has a ridge on it.

My 2 cents: the Huawei P20 pro is not a "camera-centric" phone.
If it where, like the Nokia 808, the Lumia 1020, the Lumia 950, and some Sony, it would have a camera specific hardware button, period.
No way that anyone would think of a Camera with no shutter button.
Same for a "camera-centric" phone. 2 stages shutter button is part of the definition of it.
Look, The chinese know how to make great hardware because the western world outsource the product making to countries like china so after year s and years they learn from doing a copy. So now it comes down to software which is the other half of what makes a great phone and this is where i see many problems.
Huawei is poor in terms of software developping. Simply look at the launcher for exp and you ll see, gallery app, video player, video editor and more
As my previous device (LG V20) uses the same method (double-click volume down) to open camera, I has got no issue regarding the action. Only funny thing is that, at first, I didn't realize that the default mode take a picture when I double-click. I was so used to the way double-clicking while bringing up the camera. In that way, the camera is ready when the phone is in position and i can take photos. But later, I realized that there are so many blur pictures in my gallery. Only then I realized that it took picture by default. Quite easy to change the action in the camera setting though.
I'm on Resurrection Remix.
Double tap power key opens the camera from any screen no matter what.
If you're lucky enough to have unlocked your bootloader then give it a shot.
It is using the p20 pro camera too.
Wasnt this feature available under gestures in emui
There is a bug in MX Player Pro for Android, v 1.9.24... at least, when it runs on my Pixel 2 with Android version 9. (I can give full kernel version and build number if needed).
1) When the movie starts, it sets the brightness (backlight) to medium low.
2) Swiping up-down the right side of the screen changes the volume.
3) Swiping up-down the left side of the screen also changes the volume.
Note that in MX Player (free version), swiping up-down the left side of the screen changes the brightness (backlight).
This has been broken for months!!!
I like the GUI.... I can't stand ads, so I paid for the Pro version... but the paid version has a bug that the free version does not!
OK, OK... I finally found where things were going wrong:
Apparently, my the box to optionally show the brightness control was UNCHECKED. I checked it, and now things are working as I'd like.
For others with this problem, you can check the required box either way:
From the video list window: (menu dots) -> Settings -> Player -> Controls -> make sure "Brightness" is checked.
From the video player window: (menu dots) -> Display -> Settings -> Controls -> make sure "Brightness" is checked.
Does anyone notice the auto rotation bug?
Does anyone notice that the auto rotation works sometimes even when it is turned off? It quickly goes to landscape mode and then switches back to portrait.
For those of you who didn't notice this one, Try playing a video in landscape on MX Player with Auto Rotation OFF.
Then press the back button. If I'm right the display will go back and forth between portrait and landscape mode for once.
I'm using this App in Android.

Indeed, it's a bug on the Android itself (https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/69168442) which is yet to be fixed by the google. Can you please specify the MX Player version you are using? We have already implemented a workaround for the same in the recent update.
