App launch speed - OnePlus 6T Real Life Review

OMG! Kim K posted another selfie with tons of cleavage! Rate this thread to express how quickly apps launch on the OnePlus 6T. A higher rating indicates that even the most intensive apps launch quickly and without hesitation, even if they are no longer in RAM.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Apps typically launch very quickly. However, every so often (at least once or twice a day), an app can take about 2 seconds to begin loading. Meaning, the phone will hang and be unresponsive for those two seconds while I wait for the app to launch. But, that only happens a period of time without using the phone.
Still odd, though.

Only app i've noticed that has issues launching quickly sometimes is hangouts. I'll tap it and nothing will happen and then i'll tap it again and it opens up the camera option inside hangouts. Anyone else experience sluggishness in hangouts?

Same. It seems XDA LABS hangs on me every so often.

Come to think of it, it is Hangouts. I will report if I see this behavior with another app.

The other one is tune in radio. After not using it for awhile and then opening it, it will never connect to the stations. I'll have to go play Google music for a little while and then come back to tune in and then it'll start working. It's as if tune in can't pick up the connection.

Google Voice lag?

Hi,
Relatively new the android, I have been using Nokia for the most time.
Lately on my captivate I found out that when I press the google voice app it takes substantially longer to open. I mean much longer than other apps - maps, gmail etc. I am on WIFI, so it shouldb't be a connection problem.
Has anyone seen this problem?
Thanks!
Occasionally, when I do open the app, it takes a while. This is usually after a reboot, however. After the first open, the app backgrounds and opens up very quickly.
Thanks.
But this happens to me all the time, it takes like 3 seconds to open.
I to have the same issue. A good 3-5 sec delay. I am using LauncherPro, have no idea if that has anything to do with it.
yea, i am using launcherpro too..
I noticed this too. I just made a habit of hitting home to get out of the app rather than back-ing out and closing it. If it's cached/running it opens instantly.
Also, I applied RyanZA's ext2 lagfix and it fixed this completely so it's probably an I/O "issue".
that sounds like a good idea.
I haven't used any fix yet. I think i am going to wait for froyo or custom roms to come out and see the difference.
now my phone is completely stock not rooted or anything.

Does anyone else experience freezing when an app won't load on the device?

So I just bought this SmartWatch 2 from Sony, as I won a €100 voucher that I could use on accessories and the watch cost €125 and I thought, "well, isn't €25 cheap for a (smart)watch?" :cyclops:
Enough with the background story however. I've only had a couple of hours to play with the device and it already froze on me FOUR times. This was only the case when I loaded an app, independent of the actual app that was loading. First it was the music player, then a notes app and finally the calendar twice. The latter freezing the device twice within two minutes. And that's when I decided I had to check XDA for this.
This cannot be normal. Have you had similar experiences? And have you solved it in any way? I'd love to know!
(also on a side-note: is there any word yet on the update I've read something about?)

Freezing the watch you mean? If so, no, I've not experienced that (well not for more than a few seconds while it tries and fails to load the app).

So failing to load an app is normal. All four times the device froze just for a couple of seconds with the home button not responding anymore. That was reason enough for me to long press the power button to reset the device. Do you suppose the device will respond again after waiting just a little longer? I figured, if the home button isn't responding, the device would be frozen and resetting it will fix the issue, at least temporarily.

You'll get used to lags of a couple of seconds a time... Par for the course I'm afraid!

And with the lag, you don't mean the 'vertical loading stripes', do you? When freezing occurs, I can just see the top bar of an app with the actual name of the app, with just white space below. And then the screen dims slowly.

Samsung Stock Messaging App Extremely Slow

So I've been using my S6 now for about a month I would say, and the problem I'm having is the stock messaging app seems to have slowed down tremendously. I used to be able to use it smoothly transitioning between SMS & MMS, but now scrolling lags quite a bit.
The main problem I am having though is viewing pictures. Whenever I get sent a Picture Message and I tap to enlarge it, it takes anywhere between 8 - 15 seconds to enlarge. At first I thought my phone wasn't registering my touch so I tapped the screen a few more times. That didn't help, it still takes a long time to open the picture. The problem for some reason seems to be worse when in a group message.
Any one else experience this issue? Is there something I can do to remedy it?
I guess a simple solution would be downloading a different messaging app, but I just wanted to keep it simple and use Samsung apps.
Thanks for the help.
No, I'm not having this issue at all. I've had my phone for a month.

Google Messages lag?

Anyone noticing Google messages lagging upon opening? I know the phone will close out apps after a certain mount of time or idle them depending on usage, but this specific app has a delay when I tap the icon. Just curious if anyone experienced that issue.

No issue over here... how long of a delay?
No delay here.....opens instantly
No issue here with that but I do notice a delay in receiving messages. I get my messages on the messages web app 1-2 minutes before they pop up on my phone which makes no sense to me.
Oh interesting. Randomly, it will idle for a second or two after tapping the icon.

OnePlus 7 Pro Slowdown

It seems after about 48 hours of up time. The phone begins to lag extremely bad. Mostly when I first start typing it'll take 3 seconds or so for it to finally catch up to my typing. This happens Everytime I use the keyboard after those 48 hours or so. Apps seem to open very slowly as well after this time. A reboot seems to fix it and it runs fine after that until then. I've tried about 3 different kernels and face the problems with everyone. Not seeing any odd battery drain either. Just curious as to what would be causing this. Only module I have installed is google framework (for the dialer)
Doze.

Hmm really. I'll have to give that a shot ?
EDIT
I don't see Gboard even under the battery optimization. Doesn't give me an option to remove it from optimization. Pretty much all apps run slower around the 48 hour mark it's not just Gboard. But that's weird it's most annoying.

Could be an app leaking memory (not properly returning it when it's no longer needed). Have you added any new apps recently? Try freezing them.
Or perhaps a bad app update?

I'll have to check apps here and there cause I have a pretty long app list but nothing that would run in the background much. But nothing new that I'm aware of. Not seeing my memory usage maxed out or anything. I'll have to take another look after my phone's been on for 48 hours.

Show system apps from menu
Also if you have Alot of apps installed you can try to turn off sync
This should take Alot of strain away from apps trying to update/check for updates
Stuff like snapchat, Facebook, and other apps with frequent updates.
If you have magisk/EdXposed installed it could be these as well since they are trying to force the system to change code.
It kinda depends on what you have done to your device, if it's stock then sync or doze could be the problem

Sync isn't on for most apps I have. Everything is stock other than having magisk installed. Like I said oddly battery life and phone speed are great until 48h mark or so. I'll just have to work on narrowing it down from apps and stuff. Gboard isn't under any optimization settings. I can't remove it even with system apps enabled. Because if it's just cause the app is being dozed I would like to remove it.

Sync is either on or off. I don't believe you can select certain apps, atleast I'm not aware of this as I just turn it off unless I need updates
Is the battery dead or is it being charged over the 48h.
If the apps being forced to sleep it has the tendency to lag and be unstable (stuff I noticed with my s5 before this phone)
Have you tried another keyboard? (I use SwiftKey and have had no lagging issues unless I messed with stand by apps via developer options)

Haven't tried another keyboard like I said it's not just the keyboard the apps also seem slow but the keyboard is also slow. The battery is fully charged at the time of the slowness. Sync I see for multiple apps overall.

This is what I guess.
Some rouge app.
I'm running 10.3.0 and my phone is stable. No slowdowns and no reboots.
It will stay up for weeks if I let it.
Normally I reboot after a few days, just because.

Does clash of clans, cod mobile, or old school runescape run on your device? Or do you get blackscreen?
Seems it only happened on the new 10.3.0 / 10.0.3
It use to run fine on older 10.0.0
I think it could be the "backup" since it broke these apks into parts.
Its kinda annoying because I haven't been able to use these in over a month.
And OnePlus is in hiding due to the cornavirus.
It is the gboard sometimes and it usually starts to happen wit whatsapp and Instagram
It's the gboard it's hide arrow is sometimes visible even if you're not using now I don't know if this happens on your phone but using whatsapp or Instagram(nightly) whenever you go to Home screen from typing a message there's a small arrow that will appear at left bottom that collapses the keyboard. also there's a delay in status bar pull down sometimes whenever the problem latter mentioned starts to occur.
