I was wondering if there is an emui 8.1 update for our device. Huawei said honor 6x will be updated to emui 8 so i am guessing they will go all the way. From what I can tell, 8.1 brings redesigned gallery, camera and (maybe) face unlock. I have rebranded to BLN-AL20 and in firmware finder there is no update, so just wondering.
There's already an official Oreo flashable firmware on xda (base version 8.0, not 8.1), but the procedure is a little time-consuming and involves rebranding your phone to a BLN-L22.
The firmware is still beta though, and is meant to be used only by official beta testers. Also, if I'm not wrong, it should be the India target version. Still universally usable as you can change your language but probably not meant for your region (unless you live in India).
I personally am using it and it is really stable, but not perfect.

Anyone know when to expect update on US Honor 8 running EMUI 5, Android 7, Build FRD-L04C567B360 ?
Since this phone is used as BYOD for work, I cannot root. I did try the Huawei Firmware Finder, but it's kinda known not work with EMUI 5...I tried anyway.
Also tried to update via HiSuite on my PeeCee and no luck there.
Is Huawei just not ready to release any updates?
B360 is the latest version for the US. There's nothing to update.
Updates for L04 and L14 are vaporware
B385 I suspect will be released this or next month..
Anyone working on official custom builds of LOS or RROS for honor 8(frd)? emui sucks.
They have unofficial ones (though the battery life sucks on both). I would recommend AOSPA (paranoid android) which I am currently using.
Wait until EMUI 8.0 With Oreo and Treble drops, then use a Treble compatible ROM, if you look at the Honor 8 Pro forums, they already use a Treble ROM which is near perfect. Should be the same for us then just a little more patience.

I don't have doubts, Honor France and Honor Poland both said that the Honor 8 will get EMUI 8.0, they also mentioned that "One does not go with the other" in other meaning "EMUI 8.0 doesn't work without Oreo" which means that EMUI 8.0 will also include Oreo. If it was only a feature update/ported features, they would have called it EMUI 5.2 like they did before with EMUI 5.0.1.
Also all Huawei/Honor phone get Treble alongside Oreo since they already use their own vendor partition which means they don't have to reformat the device (which COULD result into a brick, thats why OnePlus and Nokia won't include Treble on the Oreo updates).

Now, I want to use aftermarket rom - os to get the latest available Android update with stable performance, which rom - os do you suggest for install (flash) on Honor 8 FRD-L09C185, preferably Android 8+

If you just want to be with Oreo, you can first download the last firmware for FRD-L09 at FirmwareFinder website. It's 3 files and you can flash them with HuRUpdater zip using TWRP 3.1.1-1 (openkirin edition I think)
To get any 8+ ROM to work you need EMUI8 firmware base. Maybe you are interested in rebranding your device, because there is no EMUI8 for C185 available. You can rebrand to C432, for example. But I don't know much about it and I suggest you do your own research before. Guides to this are available in guides section.
Otherwise you can flash any Android 7 ROM.

I sometimes think that my Honor 8 (FRD-L09) is the only one on the planet that didn't receive an update to Android 8.0 (Oreo). It said on the updates that it's the latest version. Is there a way to update it? I don't want to use something in official or that may void warranty.

It seems that you have Frd L09 c185 like me so you are not alone
Oreo for some reasons hasn't released for c185 model so you have to change your variant which needs open bootloader and twrp

Hi per above this P30 ELE-L04 has C212 region - Iusacell/Nextel fw installed as a default with EMUI 9.1
I realized recently the Huawei P30 C212 means Mexico. I'm in the US.
Guess I'm wondering the easiest way or if it's even possible to upgrade this C212 phone to EMUI 11. In the US it won't update beyond EMUI 9.1. Says its at the latest version.
I've got another P30 phone with EMUI 11, it's region is C792 Canada.
