it's not the rom, have run loads over the past year since it started -but its getting alot worse. my phone will for no reason will report sim card missing-have tried other sims ,have cleaned & reformed contact pins-any thouights or is this the begining of the end?
maybe the slot, or the buses leading to the slot are damaged?
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I have sent it to repair and of course the replay was, that they need to change the motherboard (I guess it is the same as saying we don't know what's wrong). I have ready that the problem is in contacts conecting to the sim holder. but since Unis are not so expensive anymore, I just bought another one. Maybe if I have more time, I will try to investigate. BTW, I also tried several ROM updates as well as changing SIM cards, but no positive results.

No, chanigng the motherboard is short for "Hardware Fault", meaning that most likely, the SIM card bus is broken. Since this is printed circuitry, it cannot be repaired, and the whole motherboard must be replace to solve the problem.
update-cleaned and reformed contacts & put a little sheet of hard plastic behind sim contacts arms this seems to allow the increased pressure to remain and my phone seems to be working -48hrs now
with reference to hardware failure ie motherboard or sim bus surely it would be permanent(unless it was a dry joint?)
I've just started having this problem as well -- when my Uni boots it says "No GSM". Sometimes I can get in and make a call or check my messages, but it seems to go away over time.
I think that's the end of the line for me and Unis. I love the device, but it's just not worth throwing time at anymore, I don't think.
Hello, my screen was acting wierd, and it had some sort of Humidity in the digitizer, so I decided to open it up, see if maybe I could "dry" it or something.
well I open it up, very carefully, everything whent perfect, I could not do anything to the digitizer, so I put it all back together, and it worked perfectly, except that I forgot to connect the jog wheel, so I open it up again, again very carefully, and everything whent ok, or so it seemed, now my polaris can't detect the sim card, no matter what I do, I open it up again to see if the cable was lose or anything and the same deal... nothing fixed it...
did I broke my polaris? maybe its just the sim holder? does anyone know where I could get a replacement sim holder with the ribbon cable?
or any other ideas, I triple checked that everything was connected, and that the ribbon cables were all good...please help!!!
maybe your sim card burned... did you try with another sim?
unfortunately for me... no, the SIM card is working fine on my other phone and I also tried 2 different SIMs
any pointers on where can I get spare parts ?
Could it still be wet? Have you let it dry out?
it was never wet, so i don't think thats the problem..its very wierd
but still looking for spare parts... if anyone knows...
Well i guess My Polaris is done for No Sim detected, so if anyone need a polaris for spare parts, let me know, the only thing wrong with it is that it does not detect the Sim Card.... make me an offer
Hi, i was struggeling with the same problem and just found a simcard holder replacement:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=400007523660
hope that helps all people with that problem.
i have had that on mine as well, it wouldnt detect my simcard but i found out that by installing it better it made it work. since you havent touched anything, i cant believe you burned a controller or you snapped something. look at it better
I think I know the solution. As least I can reproduce the problem with few my SIM cards. Namely, after inserting the SIM card in Polaris holder, as a final move, one should gently PUSH IT DOWN until you will feel a slight click. That's it!
Actually, the word "PUSH" is even written at the holder, but I thought it is only for a side push.
Regards and good luck!
Well I tried several times in diferent ways, with no luck, so I finally decided to order that sim holder, hopefully that will solve the problema... now I will have to wait 3-5 weeks and I will have my phone back (fingers crossed!) thanks leonidas333 for the link and thanks everyone else for their tips
try 2 flash the room again it did that with me but when i flashed the room it worked just fine
HI all, I am currently using khalpowers V4, and was using Dexter's 1.3 before too.
What is happening is that every hour or so, the phone will detect no sim card. I'll have to remove battery, take out sim, re insert in, and HOPE it works on my next reboot (chances varies, some times it takes a while before it reads again).
I am not sure if its a hardware or software issue, my sim card is fairly scratched (don't know if that plays a role in this).
What i realize recently is that once i get that problem, i can get into open recovery and wipe DALVIK cache, and it'll detect it again without having me to remove and reinsert my sim card.
Was wondering if this is just me or the rom? Or if anyone have any experience with this kind of madness, this is driving me nuts as i have to restart my phone every hour.

i'll agree with this
it's probably the SIM card that has got scratched, faulty, or something happened to it
i had to replace mine a while back for similar reasons
actually i was unable to send SMS out, but i was able to receive.
and incidentally i'll randomly get no signal
after i changed the SIM card for a new one, all the problems went away.
that was on my other phone.
never had problem on the XT720
extract rar folder then take the only (sub khalpowers V4 folder) and put the SD card installed .... ok ......You'll see it works ... the problem is the double folder

Thanks, i just wanted to confirm if it really is the sim, i suspect it is, but the thing is that it KINDA works, and then don't.... i guess i'll have to invest in a new sim card. Anyone know if Wind will give me a new one if i whine to them?

Could it be a loose connection? I've read about people that have trouble with loose connections on their SD cards positioning a piece of paper to increase the contact force.

yup, i got my replacement for free, but you have to first call customer service, and explain to them what is going on
then if they believe it's a SIM problem, they will tell you to go to any corporate store, and they will replace it for you at no charge
the CS will put a note on your profile, which the store can look up, and honour the free SIM replacement.

unfortunately i tried that already, but executed the idea in a VERY poor way, i actually put the paper at the tip of the sim and pushed it in to make the contact better, BUT when i slide the sim out, the papaer was still stuck inside, now i can't push my sim in all the way.... at least it still works .....
felt retarded, but at least lesson learned ><

Thanks i'll give them a call and give it a try.
I had the exact same problem for a week. At first the SIM got disconnected after leaving the phone idle for 10-20 minutes, then after many reboots the SIM card wouldn't be detected at all.
I got it replaced for free as well, and some of my other messaging and call problems went away too. =)
I'm sorry if this is reposted, however I looked around and couldn't find an issue similar to this.
I dropped my phone while juggling (not literally) groceries earlier and the first thing that came up was an error stating that the sim card was not found. I've taken it out, put it back in, restarted multiple times, etc. I don't know what to do here.. I've rooted and unlocked my phone (used HTCdev for the bootloader) so I don't think I send it in.
I've done a hard reset, but I don't think that is really helping. SO.. now I'm not sure really what my options are. I read that you can't relock your phone after using the HTCdev fix and I'm very noob so I'm not sure if the reset took off my root.
Basically, do any of you guys have any suggestions as to how to move forward from here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well coming from a cell repair standpoint, I would at least make sure it can't detect other sim cards before you get drastic. PM me and I'll try and walk you through it.

SO my friend just came over and he has an iPhone (AT&T). We swapped simcards, he called my girlfriend's phone and it worked fine. Still the same problem with my phone though... definitely seems like a hardware issue at this point.
Yeah you probably managed to knock the connector for the slot loose, or it bent the slot a little more than how it already sits. The one x's sim slots are actually really bad. I had to get 3 different sim cards before I got a working one, because the old iphone batch was fractions of a millimeter thinner and didn't sit right.
You could always try to put something on your sim to thicken it and see if that makes it work, but you gotta be careful with that, as you could lose something into your phone like that if you dont attach it to the sim somehow.
I wasn't able to come up with a sim-thickening contraption, which is why i just got new ones.
see if you can find someone with a very new android phone. Chances are they dont have the old iphone sims, and this will give you a better test

Scotch tape will do the job nicely for the sim.
As for ops problem, my daughter dropped her iphone and had the no sim error after. Phone had to be replaced, id call your carrier and get it swapped out.
Hi All,
I have purchased OPO in september but I got it delivered to India yesterday only. I tried to insert my sim in the correct way like shown in the image, but to my surprise , I am getting the below error.
So I did a research and tried the following steps
Tried the 3g and 2g option. Did a restart.
My sim is actually a micro sim that is not cut from the mini sim. I am using it perfectly in my nexus 4.
Watched the videos on how to insert the sim properly. Did according to that.
So I thought there my be some bugs in the stock( I am on 38R) . So unlocked the bootloader and flashed the CM nightly. Same issue exists.
Then reverted back to stock and updated to 44S. Same issue exists.
The phone is working fine with everything. But it is unable to read my sim. I have tried my dad's sim which is used in Moto G.
So I took a video and posted it on youtube. Please go through it and let me know if I have damaged any of the golden PINs.

Thanks for your patience.

Lol no.
I can see the airplane mode icon in the picture you uploaded.
Try this :
1) Turn Airplane mode ON
2) Turn Airplane mode OFF
3) Reboot your phone (not software reboot, a real one)
This is the error I an getting.
Maybe your Sim is locked or not activated. Try the Sim in another phone.

No man it is working fine in nexus 4.
Even though you mention making sure the SIM is inserted the right way, I just want to confirm;
when looking at the screen, the SIM should be _below_ the tray and facing with the pins to the back.
But it is unable to read my sim. I have tried my dad's sim which is used in Moto G

Do you mean your dad's sim is working in the OPO? Or is it a no-go either? If the first applies; you may want to try having your carrier replace the SIM.
It seems the Oneplus is sometimes a bit tricky regarding the SIM.
Was going to add my voice to this as my opo arrived yesterday and I fell into that trap
I would suggest putting a cloth down on the table then lay the phone screen down, put your sim card in the tray(the only way it can go) and slide it home (that way the sim contacts will be facing you and as the tray goes in (hope that made sense)
If that does not work then contact your carrier about a replacement, fickle things sim cards

Yes you are correct . Its a trap but I did check a youtube video first before inserting the sim . It shows the way you described. But still its a no go. I think my OPO is defective or somehow I may have damaged the sim slot.

difficult for me to say I feel for you if you need to get a new unit as it was tough enough to get that one, would for sure contact your carrier as I think that will be easier than trying to get a replacement, let us know how you go
Yeah looking at the error message it seems to be a problem with the sim card not the phone itself. Correct me if I am wrong.

So i took a new sum from my carrier and used it in my OPO. I hoped that changing the sim might resolve the issue but it didn't. After removing the sim i saw some scratches on the side of the sim. So i thought the golden pins might cause this. So i will go for a RMA. You can see the image of the sim.
That card is toast, that happened putting it into the opo ?

remarkable well new phone it is then
It looks like the pins are bent on your 1+1 to do that damage on the sim card. Was your phone used because sometimes people use sim adapters to fit a nano sim into a micro sim phone and when they try to remove the card/adapter it gets caught in the pins and bends them.
