Stuck on G955USQU5ARF1 v5 combination factory binary... no matching firmware... Help? - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Questions & Answers

I was trying to go through the Carrier Switching Process using the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/snap-guide-flashing-standard-fw-carrier-t3627255
When I realized I was already on Bootloader v4, I got a little cocky/ahead of myself and managed to find a combination file that was on v5: G955USQU5ARF1 . When I ran into a separate issue in that process (https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/9diruu/only_have_gcf_as_csc_code_available_to_carrier/), I tried to flash back to my previous US Unlocked firmware and everything has been failing. Is this because the firmware doesn't match the combination file?
Is there any way to get off this combo file/factory binary without the matching firmware? I've been scavenging the web for hours going to all kinds of seedy websites in hopes of finding it with no luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I leave for a trip tomorrow (****ty timing....) so hoping to figure out something tonight. I am able to get into Factory Recovery mode and have tried factory resetting, but that didn't do any good.

Via Odin flash the latest stock and everything should be fine

it does not work. i am having the same issue. i get an SHA fail and then when i try to use a modified odin it gets hung up on xbl.elf.lz4. Does anyone have a stock firmware that will Flash over this bootloader 5 RF1 firmware? or can anyone tell me if i can modify newer firmware to flash over this? thanks.

The exact same problem here. Any luck finding a ROM it will accept?

The solution for me was to use the 3b patched Odin.

I too have this same situation. I tried all the new Odin's except prince, and it just hangs on setup connection. I'm at a loss

SOFT BRICK Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I)

this is the second time i've soft bricked my phone in the past 6 days and if this is fixable i will probably consider researching for weeks at a time before trying anything new..
anyway, the first time i soft bricked my phone last week, my s6 was rooted (via chainfire, G920IDVU1AOC6) but i decided to unroot so i could update software. after unrooting with SuperSU, i attempted to update by using smart switch and then something went wrong with that process (my firmware was at G920IDVU1AOC4) which i then fixed by flashing G920IDVU1BOE3 (latest stock firmware) WITHOUT the hidden.img
backstory out of the way, i wanted to flash TWRP so i could install xposed installer. i used the same chainfire firmware that worked the week prior (above) and so now my phone is soft bricked
things i've tried:
- flashing recovery of AOC4 - i can get back into recovery mode with the older firmware
- flashing AOC4 stock firmware with AND without the hidden.img
- flashing the BOE3 stock firmware with AND without the hidden.img
i'm still able to get into download mode and stock recovery and i've already tried wiping cache and factory reset but nothing works.
i continue to get FAILED on odin
if anyone is able to bring my phone back from purgatory for the second time it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advanced, mojo.
Ok, I soft bricked my s6 too :/ its fine now so dont worry, actually, I read somewhere the problem of failing is in Odin, and you need to flash the stock recovery and then recocery.img you extracted from it in a way odin can read, im from my phone now so I will try to search it out, hope I will find. Dont worry dude your s6 is alive.
Ok i found it, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/solved-stuck-download-mode-failed-odin-t3104736 , I burned stock and then the file he supplied, worked like a charm.

thank you so much for your reply and reassurance! i'll try this out right now and update on the results
UPDATE: i tried flashing stock and then the my-recovery.img.tar and i could get into recovery but i was stuck in boot loop.
is there something i'm doing that's incorrect?

Did you remove the cable, boot download mode, then reconnect and let the driver install screen complete on your PC? Sorry if its a bit redundant but I had made this mistake before.

I FIXED IT.
i'm not exactly sure of the steps i took, as i had to keep waiting for my Unified Android Toolkit to create the tars but essentially what i did was i flashed;
- stock BOE3 WITHOUT hidden.img
- TWRP recovery (was able to boot into twrp and when i looked through some settings (reboot) it said i had no OS installed for some reason
- from this info i tried flashing the AOC4 older firmware WITHOUT hidden.img then it worked.
do you think it is worth attempting the smart switch thing mentioned in that link you posted?
i wouldn't want to run into this problem again..
my lord.. so SOMEHOW i managed to get myself into this for THE THIRD TIME..
once i got it fixed, just a few hours ago, everything was fine and i was then able to flash CF root again.
but once i tried to install TWRP (it worked before i fixed the second time) odin FAILED again and i'm back to square one.
i'm unsure how to properly fix it and the steps i took before aren't working now and i can't even flash any recoveries (whether its AOC4, BOE3 or TWRP)
can anyone suggest anything else please?? i'm in panic mode again lol
this is definitely the last time i try to do any type of configuration with this device.
Do you have recovery now? Maybe burn some custom rom? ..

now i can't flash the twrp .. it won't work. this suck so much!
UPDATE (final update, hopefully ): fixed it AGAIN.
after going through this hellish nightmare for the 3rd time and reading countless threads, i've discovered that the FAILs on odin may be occurring due to the corruption of the firmware file.
so if anyone goes through my problem, CREATE A COPY of the desired firmware before flashing with odin!
thanks justen for your patience and attempts to help me!

Constant Fail from ODIN. *Have Searched*

Hi,
Pretty much tried everything (I think) to reconcile this.
Tried to install Kingroot.
Bricked G920F that was on 5.1.1
Can get to Download Mode. But ODIN keeps failing at the last 'Write' bit on the script.
No idea where i am going wrong. Have searched but most threads offer solutions I have already tried.,
All advice welcome.
Thanks!
Tony

I have had this before. It is usually the "hidden" image part of the flashing process. Extract the rom zip and rename the "hiden.img" to "hidden.img.tar. Then flash this using odin.
You can also uncheck auto reboot and re-partition. Try it then
Just plug the phone to PC in download mode and rescue it via Smart Switch. It'll download the right firmware for your device and flash it automatically.
Here's how you can do it;

Trouble flashing recovery file attempting to root, now I can't get past the first scn

So I just revived a replacement phone the other day, it came preloaded with 6.0.1. I wanted to root and flash a rom so I ended up finding a guild online and started to follow it. It had me flash a file via odin and after it would just stick on the tmobile logo with the blue led on. So I looked around and found another recovery file and tried that, now it gets stuck on the first screen with a warning that its not sandroid enforcing or something.
I am having a heck of a hard time finding the files to restore everything back to 6.0.1 so I can have another go but can't seem to find the files I need. I think I need 2 files, one for the boot part and one for the rom?
Please help or i'll be forced to use an iPhone!

Flash stock firmware from sammobile.com. download most current, extract, place phone in download mode, have a GOOD USB cable, add file to AP section of Odin, and flash. Once you get fixed then I'll help you root or whatever you're trying to do. If you have any issues returning to stock, please copy Odin logs so I can see where Odin failed.

I need Help With Odin

So, somehow I managed to download and install CRC4 (950U) onto my galaxy 955U now I am trying to upgrade to CRD4 (955U) with Odin but I kept getting fail sha256 errors so I now have Prince Cosmy ODIN which fixed that but now Setup Connection does not pass and if it does it fails, I have been able to load everything in to odin and only get as far as Setup Connection is there something else I can try that I have not tried already? Please Help
I have downloaded G955U1 software and tried that but it does not load the system.img and I am still on the same version

Try one section at a time.. Don't rush it.. AP.. BL.. and so on.
You'll find that it's a bit easier to handle than loading up the entire rom in one shot.. Make sure you don't have the auto reboot box checked.. But as you do each section reset the Odin software. Once you complete the last section, attempt to boot up recovery and reset cache and then wipe user data.. TWICE. Then boot back into download mode and then load the entire rom into the proper slots.. This especially helps if you're RMP fuse says it's blown.. Once you have accomplished this then attempt to restart. You will find that this phone is very hard to kill, if you treat this problem like a better opportunity to learn more about the phone than panicking. It might actually reboot once to preform a reset on its own. It's normal. After the reboot let it go for a bit.. Get it and you settled.
Good luck.
How did you install CRD4? Was it through a stock recovery zip?
If so, make sure you're using Odin 3.13.1 (see attached) to go back to G995U firmware

Bricked my Samsung Galaxy A8 2018

Here is what I did so far to get here.
First I followed the guide to root my phone, and to be honest, all was perfect. I had to restore stock rom cause my first few tries failed. But seems I flashed a rom for a different provider. It worked anyway, but I don't have my sim card in that phone, it's temporarily in another device.
I had a little issue in settings, where battery was coming up two times in the list. That bugged me, I wanted to restore the rom and see if a full restore would take care of this issue, but somehow, after I installed twrp and rooted my phone, I can no longer flash anything stock with odin, it fails.
If I try to flash the AP tar.md5 file, it fails when it gets to system. And then after rebooting, I see this message:
"An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC Software"
I tried installing smart switch and kies, and both software doesn't detect my device in download mode or twrp (obviously)...
So to get rid of the emergency message, I flashed twrp again with odin, and been successful. If I tried to flash the AP image again, or CSC, it fails. And then I get the message back.
After flashing twrp, I'm stuck in a boot loop. Would need to restore system I think, but cannot seem to be able to do it with Odin.
Any possible way to recover my device?
Update: Turns out I must have made a mistake with the firmware I thought I had flashed, versus the one I was trying to flash and was failing. I downloaded the latest october firmware and it's currently flashing in odin!

Sorry about that, I thought it was related to the topic. Obviously, you saw that I do not have a thousand posts around here, a wise thing to do would have been to suggest me where should I have posted this, and how can I move my thread around? Do I wait for a mod to move it himself?

You forgot to flash all of them
BL, AP, CP, CSC

I did flashed all of them. But it always fails. No matter if I select only BL, AP, CP, CSC... or all of them. Almost seems like twrp is preventing write or something else does.
It fails after a few seconds in the process. Is there any kind of log generated by odin? If so, where can I find it? I don't see much information beside that it fails.
OEM unlock checked in dev options?
USB debuging checked? these were always the go to mischecks...
back when I had the galaxy a5 2017 520W canada unit I flashed a european rom to see if FM radio was going to work. it Worked, but I had the simular issue with battery showing up twice AND I ended up tripping knox while doing it. phone seemed to work fine other then that issue and the radio worked as well.
Flashed it back to 520W stock... later sold the phone... no issues. perhaps it was different with nougat

Yeah, I have those two checked. For some reasons, I was tired that night, and was actually trying to flash 7.1.1 firmware, while having already upgraded to 8.0. So I believe this operation wasn't getting thru because of that. I was tired, and picked the wrong folder, and flashed 7.1.1. Well, I was trying to flash, but it kept failing, but had a tiny bit done, enough to screw this up like this.
When I picked the right folder, 8.0, then it worked.
As for tripping knox, you probably tripped it while flashing twrp. I believe it trips it, haven't heard of a way to do it.

nope. NEVER flashed twrp once on the A5- the european firmware tripped it on the 520W
