Please let me know! Let's see that project Treble work.
According to heise.de, a german news site, it will get Android Pie.
But i would't expect it to happen very soon...

Huawei is in no rush to upgrade a flagship that's been superseded by three generations by now.
We might get Pie, I suspect somewhere in April or May next year. By that time we might as well unlock our bootloaders and flash a build of OpenKirin.
I would if I could. Is there any way to unlock the bootloader since Huawei stopped providing codes? Openkirin sounds neat.

honor8 has healthy development, wish the same goes with honor9
Early days remember it's only few weeks old development will grow over time if you want instant custom ROMs buy a nexus

Just wait for honor to publish source code, then development will start the right way
After source released, then OpenKirin team can work on it.

I hope the development picks up soon.
Huawei should release source of EMUI 8 asap so we can receive O ROMs early.
It will be really good..will boost up
I'm the owner of a Honor 9 and I hope xda developers help us get the bootloader unlocked again I got this phone too late and I'm still stuck with the bootloader
Same here, is there any other options, to unlock it?

Only with 3rd party, paid service: dcc unlocker. Search for guides in xda.
If you're looking for a development-friendly phone, Honor is not the solution for you. We do have a program where we give out bootloader unlock codes to a select number of people every once in a while, but there is no official support for unlocking your bootloader. This results is a very small development community.
I think everyone can agree that huawei shenanigans has ruined the development for this phone, like locked bootloader, them changing the xloader stuff so it bricks your phone when you downgrade... I just hope for the best on honor 9 development community and other development for new huawei devices, and maybe someday we'll find an exploit to these devices or the 0.00001% chance that we get a mercy from huawei and they finally give us an update on the firmware where they finally remove the bootloader lock. I'll be waiting until that day.

Does view 10 support project treble? If it does will it receive updates faster?
It should support Project Treble as it is must have for phones launched with Oreo. Updates, not sure though.
Yes it does support treble..

Nope.. project treble is just a thing for speeding up process of software updates by separating vendor and OEM as in partition for vendor... So OEM "can" directly provide update without waiting for vendor driver codes. But this "can" is totally depend on OEM ... If they want or not to provide updates??? except google and xiaomi not many OEM provide update to devices older than 2 years.
But if honor view 10 made properly open sourced, then at least this device can receive XDA devs support for next 4 years???

Lol, that's amusing... Just look at the Honor 8 and rest of the line up that receive one major update then are done.
Honor has already released sources for view 10.
It is just matter of the time to get AoSP and LOS based roms.
Once we get to stable custom roms, then Dev's can able to port future android releases easily because of this Treble.
Thats quick from Huawei/Honor to be honest.
Models : COL-AL00-AL10-TL00-TL10-L29 (direct link)
Otherwise take a look over here
for more devices as well
Good luck Devs

This means roms are coming? ?
Well since the source is released for sure we can make something out of it. At the moment im focused on making Huawei P9 EU rom cause although the chinese version has an oreo, rebranding doesnt let our devices to connect in any network. So yeah bare with me and ill start working with customized emui based firmware or a GSI aosp that you will still have advantages from emui like AI, Camera etc etc.

I dont think that any member from XDA doesnt have bootloader code so far. The problem will be in the future but again if someone wants to unlock bootloader, there will be a way to do so even if that means we have to pay a bit. For the average joe its better to be locked so we will not end up solving issues from noobs begging with posts like "please help me unbrick my device".
That means volte in custom rom? Sweet!!
Hello Everyone!
I'm currently trying to decide whether to get the Honor Note 10, or the Xiaomi Mi Max 3. While the former clearly shows strength in terms of processing power, design etc., the later one has a major advantage in software due to it having treble support.
Hence, if I may ask to those of you who already have the phone, is the device treble enabled? I currently have my OnePlus 5 running Android Pie because of treble, and I would like to have my secondary phone be as flexible as well! I am highly aware that the bootloader unlock requires a paid service, but a few dollars for having barebones AOSP roms would be something I look forward to.
Thank you in advance to those who'll answer!

Yeah! So that it may be possible to flash GSI roms
Hi,
As Huawei doesn't allow to unlock the bootloader, you won't be able to install any GSI to it...
Some people report to have managed to unlock it with a paid option and to install TWRP.
But I am almost certain that even if they did and assuming a GSI will install and boot, you'll end up with a crippled device with features missing or not working...
I'd like to see that also but I think for now I'll stick to stock to no get stuck ,?

Well, maybe we could find workarounds for it... But I do understand your point with having incompatible roms.. I have bricked a device before because of it. But I hope someone knowledgable could look into this, especially those who work on the Honor 10 and Honor View 10 . Anyways, I guess I'll just try by myself, got my unit just today :fingers-crossed:
Is Note 10 a A only device?
Hi everyone,
I got my p20 at release so I have the unlocked bootloader
After a few months of getting along with EMUI, the newest version (EMUI9) is just pissing me off with bugs and terrible performance.
I tried installing TWRP but it doesent work (cant touch any of the UI in twrp.)
In the Forum i read it has to do with EMUI9, so my question is:
Is there any way to get TWRP to work and install roms or do i have to wait for an TWRP update?
Just downgrade to emui 8, you have to do it through PC app. Just search for updates and there should be line to downgrade.

I know this reply is a bit late but anyway,
Openkirin released a build of Resurrection Remix 7.0.1 for EMUI 9 devices this week, and it looks like the P20 is on the supported list. GApps and stock Huawei camera are preinstalled. It might be your best bet for compatibility.
I was going to try it out myself but I haven't unlocked my bootloader yet (but have the code) and to be honest EMUI 9 is good enough for me as a daily driver, I can't find a good enough reason to flash.
EDIT 21/04/19: Unlocked my bootloader and installed RR 7 and touchscreen doesn't seem to be working on my phone. Same thing with Omnirom. Going back to stock for now. Devs on the Telegram support said to wait for the next build.

Yeah, but following this forum I have noticed that many users encounter problems like not working fingerprint scanner or hotspot on treble based ROMs.
Or maybe you can point on on some Android Oreo ROM working properly on P20? (Want Oreo because of Xposed, not sure if it is already ported to Pie)
Apearently software-wise Huawei is still as bad as it was 5 years ago (still remember and hate my Huawei G6), because when bought this phone (P20) hoped that at least it supports treble... sadly - just partially

Me too haha.
You could try it yourself if you really wanted to, it seems to be a hit or miss whether people have this bug or not. A dev told me a few other P10s have the problem while his own P10 works fine. I haven't seen many P20 users though.
