Does view 10 support project treble? If it does will it receive updates faster?
It should support Project Treble as it is must have for phones launched with Oreo. Updates, not sure though.
Yes it does support treble..

Nope.. project treble is just a thing for speeding up process of software updates by separating vendor and OEM as in partition for vendor... So OEM "can" directly provide update without waiting for vendor driver codes. But this "can" is totally depend on OEM ... If they want or not to provide updates??? except google and xiaomi not many OEM provide update to devices older than 2 years.
But if honor view 10 made properly open sourced, then at least this device can receive XDA devs support for next 4 years???

Lol, that's amusing... Just look at the Honor 8 and rest of the line up that receive one major update then are done.
Honor has already released sources for view 10.
It is just matter of the time to get AoSP and LOS based roms.
Once we get to stable custom roms, then Dev's can able to port future android releases easily because of this Treble.

Edit: no, 8.1 has no Treble enabled.
Hmm. I think that @hikari_calyx is working on something for BL unlock too.

Huawei add treble in unreleased beta oreo update. If Google not hit before it.
I hope Nokia add treble but it must do what Google say

Adding Treble is completely optional. And I doubt that Nokia will add it because they obviously do not want people to modify their phones.

Nokia 5, 6 (2017) and 8 lacks vendor partition, that's why there's no Treble Support.
But Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco support Treble.
So with this new Treble breakthrough, I can see it is very important for ROM development, but only devices that ship with Oreo and some that get updated to it will have it.
Is the Honor 6X getting Treble when the Oreo update arrives, or is it unknown?

Its big brother, the Mate 9, got it, and that didn't ship with Oreo. https://www.xda-developers.com/stock-android-oreo-huawei-mate-9-project-treble/
But OnePlus devices won't get treble. So much for them being better development devices.

They will only get treble to this device in the same update as Oreo, I seriously doubt they would do that later.

Huawei probably will do it because this is a fairly good device in some way,but there is also that chance that she won't because this is not any top of the line phone...

yeah...it's absolutely steal for money i paid ....emui 5.0 kinda messed up performance & overly done ram management - when i tried emui 5.1 on this device- performance was buttery smooth...it was night & day difference compared to 5.0
its pretty much capable but just frustrating experience as of now with emui 5.0 & zero stable custom roms as of now
The only way our device will get Treble is if it supports the dual partition like on the Pixel phones. Maybe a Dev can tell us if this device supports that since it cannot be done via OTA updates.

Nope, Mate 9 got treble support and it doesn't have dual partition, Xperia XZ1 & XZ1 Compact doesn't have dual partition and it is launched with Oreo and project Treble.
In my opinion the 6X will get treble with Oreo, because Honor already have a separate Vendor partition that's required for project treble

I'm seeing other companies reporting that it could brick their devices doing the dual partition over the air. Thanks for the info though.

Now that the S*+ is going to get Oreo and treble what does this mean for the future of ROM development? Will there be an explosion of AOSP ROMs available for our phones? Will it change the need to unlock and root to flash?

And moving to it would involve essentially what is a rewrite of SE9 for the s8 and require a data wipe. There is absolutely no way samsung is going to take the time to migrate these phones twice. If they were going to do it all they would have delayed the release (significantly).
Project treble may never come to S8+ as it's not required that Samsung make it for s8+. Rest we wait and watch.
Its been about year now, and 5 month in some countries, that nokia 6 launched, but no one has developed any single rom for nokia 6, even naugat roms, yeah we are using upto date naugat but custom roms are faster and with more features, with more abilities, official oreo also lauched on 4th October with pixel 2, but no one has developed or developing oreo....yeah its coming to nokia 6 by this month but if any dev would be developing any oreo rom for nokia six then we must be enjoying it, with faster performance, the custom roms are too fast then a stocked rom.....
So its my kind request please develope custom rom for this phone too..
Thanks
I agree it has been really disappointing that there has been no custom roms however the reason simply lies with two things; firstly the phone wasn't a major seller meaning it's community isn't anywhere near as large as other phones, secondly the phone didn't have any good rooting tools meaning that it was as near as impossible to make a rom that works. Even worse news is that a 2018 variant is rumoured to be in the work with different internals meaning if someone can't find a way of forcing user roms on it, the devices days are numbered, I mean look how tardy Nokia has been with updates already on its release year!
But still, even the last 4 nokia android phone namely nokia x,x+,xl and x2 dual sim, all were having good custom roms, even lumia 520 was also booted to android, then why this phone can't, if devs can boot a windows phone to android then they can develop anything, the thing is they need to work on it
simply because the bootloader isn't unlocked yet by Nokia .
Nokia said that they will provide bootloader unlock with the Oreo update.
There are many reasons for the almost nonexistent development right now. One being that there isn't any unlock tool. Secondly Nokia is yet to release sources too. Both these factors play a major role in custom ROM development.
Let's hope that they unlock and release sources, otherwise we're at a dead end

Hi guys! Reading on the internet I saw that all the smartphones that natively mount android oreo 8.0 will support Project Treble and consequently the possibility to mount this particular type of custom rom. My question is: if Honor 8 will be updated to Oreo, will the compatibility of the project be extended to this device too?
I ask this because I have also read that most of the tests have been carried out on the new 960/70 kirins mounted in the most recent devices. Thank you in advance
First we have to get the Oreo Update, but even if we get it, it doesn't mean that we will get Treble support, every Phone that comes out with Oreo is forced to support it. Right now, the Oreo custom Rom Supports treble if I remember correctly.
Correct me if i am wrong but doesnt Honor 8 already have separate vendor partition?
Also we have custom O Rom in the forums with Treble support included
Honor already has a vendor partition similar to the one in android oreo, thats why its very easy for honor to support project treble for their devices even if they did not come out with oreo. All honor/huawei devices that get the oreo update will support treble. If you look for example in the Honor 8 Pro section, you will notice that there are Roms that support treble, the same will happen to the honor 8 when/if we finally get the oreo update.

Yes. And i think it will bring us also the same camera quality as on stock and support for 60fps Video.

Well i am not a developer so i am not sure, but i asked in the development threat if the camera will be the same quality as stock and the developer said yes. I mean all hardware drivers are in a separate partition so it should include the camera right? But i dont think we will have as many camera features on custom roms because they dont use the stock camera app.

I'm also not a developer. But when I know the camera, drivers are needed and they only have Huawei

Yeah and the drivers and all that stuff are in the seperate partition... But i guess we will find that out when/if the honor 8 gets oreo..
