You'll ask us and we'll ask you, how's that :silly: ?
Nobody knows when the update will be released, just observe the patch notes and twitter for further information.

I don't know why, but i seem to be getting a huge camera update right now on Oreo on my 8... It also says 'fixed for nokia 8'.
Edit: Nothing has been fixed, unfortunately.

It seems there are two different updates (1004 and 1012). The update you received has 17Aug update and it seems to be the wrong update they had uploaded two few weeks ago (and it was removed). Nokia has screwed up again?
There is another update from what I have read for the single sim versions that does not broke the cammera... ( I saw in update also the "wrong" one)

And after restarting the phone (without updating at 90 version) I get another update notification for a much smaller app (60MB or so) with version 85...... I am downloading now

Have you finished that update? And how's the new one now?

Version 85.9.1124.31 is the old Pro Camera update, with a new version number. I think they pushed this update for rollback the camera to the consumers that update again to the broken version.
Version 90.9.1123.20 actually is the same with all feature broken (same version, same release date, same problems), but new UI and AR Stickers; 85 is the same of the system 8.1041.71 (maybe with pro mode gesture working in landscape? IDK).
They update the app by mistake again, but with a new description in the Play Store that says there are fixes for Nokia 8. We can only wait for the correct version.

Wtf how can they be so bad at updating software ? Seriously. They have almost NOTHING to do on their firmware, except their "support" app and their ****ty camera software.
They need to step up their game. I wonder how many people, if any, work at the software department.
I'm pretty happy with the N8, but I would have never kept it without GC' magic.

It's a mess on the N8. I kind of like mine, when it comes to hardware. But there's a lot of mistakes here and there. Missing bluetooth audio profiles, Glance being a complete mess the camera being pretty disappointing in both quality and features. For a device that's been out for a year now, it's a bit of a letdown and that's for 100% due to the software as the hardware is absolutely great. You'd expect a little more than this.

Random Update

so i was using my phone, and it just prompted me to install an update. I've gotten all the prior ones At&t has forced, so I was just curious if anyone else was getting an update. Also their support page doesn't have any information on it.
I'm getting it too. It's updating right now. I also couldn't find any info on it either.

Highly Doubt its M...if it is, that would be an unheard of fast for ATT...I believe its just an update to fix the Stagefright bug
OK, its almost done. Optimizing apps.....
the build number is lmy47d, the software version is h81010o
Maybe it fixed touch issues? it feels better, but it may be placebo, only time will tell
Also slow motion is missing from the camera for some reason. not okay
For me, the touch issues went away on the last update before the stagefright update.
However while optimizing , my G4 got extremely warm. Never had it this hot since initial setup.

I just installed the update and I still have Slo-mo on my camera. Maybe your update only partially applied? I can't seem to find any release notes on this update yet. I saw some things about an update for battery improvements for overseas models in an update that came out about a week ago.
Optimizing apps....will post up if i find anything new & exciting.
Just a thought....could this update be the one that enables wifi calling? iPhones on iOS 9 just got it a few hours ago...
Slowmo still sucks terribly and I was pissed when i ordered the G4 at launch for the manual camera control and then it turned out it was only in stills not video mode. Then they say manual video is in V10. Funny as they keep posting V10 manual mode video examples on FB and they are all terrible. If it wasnt for removeable battery and SD card I'd be back on Iphone because it absolutely is now destroying all Android phones, the Slomo quality is amazing. Although I would also miss the video record/pause feature a lot. Still pissed everytime I open gallery and see tons of crap albums that I could hide on the G3 but cant on the G4, what a fing mess. LG G4 on Lollipop has so many bugs, omissions and nonsensical features that it is beyond irritating to have to pray for OEM updates for corrections. I have never stared at a phone before in total hate like I have this AT&T POS. The Google play services update strategy is still total crap. Memory leaks and bugs still abound. Until this OEM release crap ends Android will always be a buggy 2nd class OS.

To hide albums just put a .nomedia file in the album. If you haven't used QuikPic app you should try it, you can choose to hide albums with the app as well.

Yes, it's true.
They took almost one month for an 80 MB update, and today, 20 May, it's not released for all users but only for a bit of them.
It's really...normal .

It is no crap, unless you show me a contract you signed in which it says they have to Release it in x months after it is publicly available.
Or show me a device starting with nougat which already has it.
Other than that people would complain if it has bugs. With Samsung, the note 8 hasn't even got 8.0 yet because it is too buggy.
So basically your post is bulls*** as we almost always get our security updates in the same month. Galaxy s9 is still on February afaik. Besides that 8.1 is still Oreo and not really worth that much anyway. Then again if it helps yourself with whining keep going but don't annoy others with it
Well it is kinda the point of Andoid One to always be up to date. Without all the manufacturer crap this should really be faster.

Nope.
The point of Android One is to have an android version closer to the specifications of Google, meaning zero or very little customization from the manufacturer.
Has nothing to do with updates. If you want updates, buy a Pixel.
Most devices are abandoned even before they are available to buy, and you complain because you have May update in... May?
What are you going to do with 8.1 that's so important? Besides, it's coming! We already have a beta for it. So what's the big deal?
Go buy a Motorola phone and enjoy 0 updates.

Each update that comes just changes Build No. And security patch date, you can't feel any changes expect that. Whats the point of such updates, they Fu*king just don't release a changelog, so only they the the changes they did.
I had moto G3, it had got 6.0.1 and got security patch till April 17, i don't know which Moto phone you are talking about.

Nope, i didn't mean that. Their are few bugs left you can find them on Forum, but they don't fix them first, secondly they adda new bugs, like the charging time has increased after April Patch by atleast 30-40 mins. Xiaomi just fails when it comes to answer question relating to updates ,features and anything, they just don't reply to them, with even a simple NO.
If any of you went to android one program webpage and actually read of it, there wouldn't be any stupid discussions.
It should have 8.1 few months ago already. Meanwhile were getting stupid security patches and nothing else.

About the charging time, I fail to see how an update could do that, or they changed something in the kernel (which I highly doubt). Seems to me like a hardware matter

Xiaomi is known for it´s great specs/ price relation but it´s terrible in the update department, this varying given model x or y. As for our Mi A1, yes, updates are a little slow but still on time .

Anyway, seems like the pre-oreo update, less than 100mb and after 3/4 days Oreo was released.

No update for oneplus 7 5g on EE?

Hi all,
I think enough time has passed for those on EE to get an update, absolutely no sign whatsoever and not entirely sure where or who will be providing the update; has any one has success updating yet?
I'm currently on 9.5.1 and system updates fail constantly.
Is there an option to root and install a custom ROM?I'd rather do that then wait for EE/Oneplus.

I've just had a lengthy (about 1h30m) chat to OnePlus and they were totally useless. I saved the chat history as a lot of the things were basically - reboot the phone, wipe cache and then finally erase everything; although I knew these steps would not work and I explained I had already tried that I done it anyway just to satisfy his requests.
Afterwards he pretty much said "Ah well, nothing more we can do then"
I find it hard to believe that between EE and OnePlus no body has the answer?

What does it say? Up to date or just update failing?.
Just failing still ?. Same error message as always
Seems to me that OnePlus has pulled the update for some reason.
Mine updated to 5.3 when I first set it up.
Not really had to many issues with mine, no ghost touches or anything. All I've had is the odd crash on nova launcher when exiting my banking app for some reason but other than that not much to complain about.
That being said I would like to see the camera updates that are being talked about in 5.7 as these are supposed to make a significant difference to the pictures.

There are also people on the EE forums with the same problem.
I'm sure EE knows what's up here, but reaching the "right people" there is probably very hard.
It's a phone with essentially a "Beta" radio, using effectively "Beta towers", and I bet that they're gating the updates, carefully, based on that fact.
In time, I'm sure this will "smooth out", as 5G becomes a bit more proliferated, but right now, if you have a 5G phone, you're effectively a "Beta Tester", IMO, even IF the carrier doesn't "sell it" like that...
It's too bad they didn't abstract the builds a bit more, across the OP7, OP7 Pro (several variants), and the OP7 Pro 5G.
I bet OP will do some work here, as things evolve, to "limit" this issue. It's possible too, that they already did this, and EE "botched things", in terms of the carrier-development side, good luck figuring that out though, or getting anyone to admit it...
I returned my phone to EE as it wouldn't update (just said it was up to date, but on 9.1) and I started suffering numerous ghost touches and random crashes.
Unless Op / EE get this sorted, I suspect I'll go to 3 when they launch 5g in August

Oh, just as side note. I searched on Google for days for an answer and nothing came up. One search on Duck Duck Go and the second and 3rd post are full of people with the exact same problem.
Yes, I got mine on launch day. Gave it the befit of the doubt she allowed 3 days to get an update- nothing turned up and it was pretty un-useable due to the ghost touches.
That's when I told them to take it back

upgrade to android 11 or stay on 10

it is so frustrating that they release phones so often with no chance to really refines them. then there is google that puts out versions of android before developers get a chance to master or migrate fully to the latter.
i heard the new storage security in android 11 can cause hiccups like slow loading and crashes due to the new storage activity due to the new security rules.
should i stay on android 10 just like so many stayed on android 4.x.x for so long to keep compatibility

I did and as I said I've never had any issues with an update in 11 years. I'm sure Sammy will have it figured out before they release it. All my phones have been rooted until the Note 7, and you take more chance flashing a rom written by some dev than an update from a major player.

But samsung does not work or develop the third party apps or what not that you install on your phone. Any unsupported app you use will likely be crippled(heard that loading times can be 100× longer to start the app) and any dev too aggravated to to fix it may stop supporting his or her project. Also most devs have not even cought up to android 10. Yea i hope to many update and google learns their error in this mess

If it does happen and I seriously doubt it, I'll just reflash with odin and restore my backup. My glass is half full, not half empty. I have friends on other forums running 11 beta on Pixels with no issues.
Am I in a pixel or oneplus thread? Note 20 ultra users most likely get Android 11 before March 2021 and chances are that any kinks should be ironed out by then. I don't understand why this conversation needs to happen this early.
Edit: https://www.phonearena.com/news/sam...-android-11-update-one-ui-3-t-mobile_id127042
Guess I stand corrected! One Ui 3.0 AKA Android 11 is already in Beta in South Korea and coming to T-mobile according to this article.

it is so frustrating that they release phones so often with no chance to really refines them. then there is google that puts out versions of android before developers get a chance to master or migrate fully to the latter.
i heard the new storage security in android 11 can cause hiccups like slow loading and crashes due to the new storage activity due to the new security rules.
should i stay on android 10 just like so many stayed on android 4.x.x for so long to keep compatibility
Just look at xda's complaint on scooped storage

I will absolutely update as soon as its available. I always sign up for the beta each year to get the update ASAP. Most people complain that Samsung doesn't update fast enough. Haven't heard anyone complain yet that they update TOO fast, LOL.
These concerns happen every year, and they always end up being a non-issue.
As far as app compatibility issues, that's the developers' issues. They are advised long in advance what they need to do to remain compatible with the current OS.

Yup! Sammy has stepped up their update game the last few years. I think last year they were pushing the official Android 10 before the end of the year to some devices. I think, but I could be wrong. I know it was earlier than the previous years.

Guess you just lucked out. But i try not to be the one stuck with a dodgy os. When they updated to android 5 no phone would run my fave application and then the android 5 memory leak. Not to mention other things os updates can bring untill they fix them. And that is googles fault not the phone maker

LOL. I don't think I lucked out. I think issues with OS updates are far less common than you think. I'd say you are definitely in the minority.
I've been on Android since the original Moto Droid. I've had almost every Moto, LG, Samsung, Nexus, and Pixel. I've been through beta OS updates, official updates, side loaded updates, unofficial ported updates, you name it.
You're going back 5 YEARS and saying because an update broke your favorite application, that Google/Samsung updates too often? Is every update perfect? No, but they certainly don't break everything the way you think they do.
~
Android updates on Samsung phones are always an anti-climax. Samsung tend to have implemented all the best features that a new Android update brings already. What you end up with is a range of bugs or security features that break your apps. I will always go for the update that's offered but I am not excited about it or bothered if there's a delay in any roll outs.

No you are absolutely right. I'm out in Canada and if memory serves me right we got Android 10 at the beginning of January a month or so after the US. It was the years prior that the OS update came out with the S series release. And to your point Samsung has stepped up their game, tremendously. It's right after the Pixels and Oneplus which is not too shabby. And getting faster to boot. No complaints here. :good:

Yeah, Note10+ got Android 10 in December I believe. Definitely was super fast compared to Note9 getting Android 9 (February/March).

So true. I read one of the big changes with Android was bubble-like messaging, much like FB Messenger. Uh... I've had that in Samsung for a couple years now I think? My text app always pops up in a bubble instead of the notifications panel.

Thats what I was thinking, but couldn't remember 100%. Unless there's somd major issues, it looks like we're on the same timeline for Android 11, since the beta is already out for the international S20 series. US Note 20 won't be too far behind.

Spot on. What a wrenched mess.
My 10+ is still running well on Pie.
Google is insane to emulate Apple.
I don't think Google will fix it, another Vista.
Probably stay on Pie for the life of this phone and hope Google regains their sphincter control with 12 or 13...

I saw that too, wtf? Messenger does that all the time with Pie.
Lol, half of the time I disable it because it's a nuisance.
I've backed up all my Playstore apps with APK Export because of them either being taken down in Playstore or turned into a bloody mess to adapt to 10/11.
I also have a couple trusted apps the use overlays, Q would render them useless or a pain to use.
I remember the horror of Vista and Lollipop... Pie is running very well, WYSIWYG
The most I'll do for now is an occasional reload of Pie if needed. All my data including the all apks/system updates are stored on my SD card so reloads are much easier. No screwing around with or waiting for Playstore. Any app that allows it's setup to be exported is also saved there.
With over 230 GB of data it saves a lot of time coping it from the laptop too.
I never have a phone without an SD card slot... you know like an Apple.

Nope that site specifically said tmobile, sprint and unlocked. While this may be available in India or not but I can assure you there is no t-mobile or sprint in India.

Go to the Samsung apps folder on the app drawer, then Samsung Members app is there, unless maybe you rearranged your apps drawer.
Samsung rep on Twitter said the banner would come late today maybe but more likely tomorrow.

It will just show up below the top band of banners, like a small strip (Thats my guess as that is where one Ui 2 ones showed up). You cab try my opening App info for Members app >>Storage and clear Data but make sure that you know how to log back in to your Members account. After this when you open the app the One UI 2 banner will show up (Thats where One UI 3 one is going to be is my guess)
In India, updated today evening. Crashes Samsung Music Player and buggy app drawer. Lingers long time at 84% during update. Rest fine so far. Looks are cool. No exciting features though. Yet to explore.
There is a possibility that only people who are on August or September patch will see the banner. The reason being that the beta build might be based on / tested on the older builds. I am thinking of reverting to an older build, any thoughts?

Updated Music player manually, issue solved. Camera images looks much sharper and vibrant. No screen tint. Too early to talk about battery. Sorry.
