[Fix] multi touch/ghost touch issue - Xiaomi Poco F1 Guides, News, & Discussion

Those who don't know there are some people having ghost touch issues on POCO f1 and one guy able to capture it on the video. I personally didn't had the issue but after trying I was able to recreate the issue on my device. soon after I found the cause and able to fix the issue. this may or may not work on your device but absolutely worked for me. this seems to be a software bug. and no-one needs to panic. hopefully it will be fixed in next update.
how to recreate the issue?
Steps
1. download a multi touch tester app I used this
2. first do some testing yourself see if you can spot the issue
3. now do 3 finger swipe down (phone will take screenshot)
4. now randomly touch your screen with 1 or 2 fingers you'll notice 1 or 2 ghost touches.
How to fix Fix it?
Steps
1. go to settings>additional settings>button and gesture shortcuts>take a screenshot
2. and set it to none.
3. reboot
that's it!
the issue should be fixed
please let me know whether this worked for you or not

Yes.
As you mentioned issue was there.
But fixed with those steps.

Good stuff. I was skeptical at first since I knew something was off sometimes. Thanks for confirming it. Should be fixed if they took notice of this bug.

Thanks! The issue is 100% reproducible with the app. By turning off 3 finger screenshot shortcut, the issue goes away.

Guys, please file a bug, so this can be fixed and we can go back to using this feature.

1.Yes, that issue is due to the screenshot feature, but shouldn't the phone be able to distinguish between 3 finger touch and more than 3? Either take screenshot on four finger swipe or register it.
2.Can you please confirm if there is accuracy problem in PUBG aiming when you use multitouch? Like the multitouch bugs in Pixel and Zenfone Max Pro but quite subtle, the thing about the other devices are, they look and have been acknowledged by the respective companies regarding the issue but in our case, Xiaomi or Poco is making no announcement or anything.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5K2N6McC_s

The issue comes up after taking a 3 finger screenshot, but disabling may not be the only solution as this feature is quite useful also
What I have noticed is that after taking screenshot ghost touch is there till we use 1,2 or 3 fingers. Once we use 4, 5 or higher fingers the issue goes away.
Isn't it better to just touch screen with 4 fingers after taking a screenshot which somehow resets the ghost touch issue.
Have tried this solution with multi touch tester app

Mine is just fine even when 3 finger swipe screenshot is switched on

I can confirm that ghost touch issue still persist even when disabling three finger screenshot.
Mostly visible in pubg.

Great, fix worked

I didn't relize the issue but nice posting

Stop it! This is not an issue. It happens on mostly every phone that supports gestures. Test it on OnePlus 6 and you will get the same result.

Okay, show me how this affects your usage of phone. Don't show me on touch testing apps. Show me a real use problem.

Exactly! There is no need to prove this issue because Google itself confirms that they have done a mistake by releasing it in Oreo and they have also promised to give a fix in later Pie updates. And people who wants proofs can look up in the internet about the "Multi touch Oreo Bug" problem and how it effects user experience rather than spamming here to make a point.

Dude, google fixed the issue in the May or June patch and all other OEM's had to merge their builds to fix it. The problem is not there in MiA1 or MiA2.
Here is the bug:
http://en.miui.com/thread-3746297-1-1.html
Thanks

Maybe the original solution for 8.1 and P devices will work for this? It will either cause a bootloop, do nothing, or fix it... worth trying! Obviously an unlocked bootloader is needed for this (Magisk).

Multitouch/screen issue ?

Hi there,
I just received my new Mi MIX 2S (actually, I got it 360 hours ago, if you know what I mean...) and I'm very satisfied with this toy
I'm on the last MIUI 10 Global Beta (8.7.5) since this afternoon, with SuperSU v2.82-SR5 and of course, with an unlocked bootloader.
However, I noticed a "strange" glitch/issue when I quick touching/typing.
It's seems that the screen not considering the different touch but acts like it does "two in one" touch.
I made a small video to illustrate the issue :
https://youtu.be/NdW8Zeo1MLQ
Does anyone has this too ?
Do you think it's an hardware or a software issue (like calibrate or touch-delay update) ?
Thanks

Hardware issue, I have the same issue.

Damn... I bought mine on Joybuy, I'll try to deal with them about the warranty because I guess I can't contact Xiaomi directly.
The XDA Gesture workaround seems to be a good temporary way but, I really don't want to stay on a defective device...
I already did this with my Oneplus One (as a early buyer, I got a similar issue) and it was worst with time, I regret to had never return them

Bought mine on Aliexpress, no way I'll get a warranty without me paying $30 of shipping and lose a month without the phone.
I tried the XDA gesture thing, but you can't really get the same gestures as on MIUI (alsway have to make the gestures from the bottom of the phone it seems). So for now I'm just using it with this "bug", with the keyboard closing from time to time when I type.
Probably gonna get a Mi Max 3 to replace it anyway sooner or later.
I just made the thest you did with a drawing app and I got the same results when I multi touched the screen very quickly. I hadn't noticed this earlier because it didn't cause any problem for my daily use. Specifically, in which context did you notice that issue?

I guess JoyBuy has the same warranty policy, which means cost return and more than a month without phone...
I haven't tried the XDA Gesture workaround yet, but I'm not too happy about losing the MIUI gesture
Hope that's JoyBuy will be understanding...

Thanks for your test and your answer.
In my case, it's very annoying when I (fast) typing a message, it causes a "fake" swipe and recude the keyboard or go back to home screen. I'll try to make a better screencast to show you in-use case.

Fine, I'll tell you my experience. I use to had the same problem, it's only noticeable using the keyboard and specially when you tap the letters located near the edge of the screen, specially like the Q and P. I'm almost completely sure that the problem is related to gestures, because the system thinks you're swiping, in my case I got some lag too in addition to the false back gesture. What I did to fix this is use the keyboard (Google keyboard) in one hand mode (long press the "," and this option will pop up next to the emoticon) and moving it to the center and the problem is gone. It's actually more comfortable this way because the space bar moves up and it's more accessible. You can play then with the keyboard size if you think it's too small. There are two others threads talking about the same problem and I recommended this solution in both, and it seems to work for others too. Try it and tell us.

Hi,
Actually, I think it's more an OS issue than an hardware one.
After some tries and research, I noticed that these "screen glitches" are bad interpretations of fast multitouching, translate into swipe/gesture.
These swipe/gesture come with the gesture navigation mode, included in full-screen desplay (and which allow to hide the bottom navigation bar).
If you re-enable the "classic" display, with the bottom bar, the issue doesn't seem to exist. So, I guess for MIUI, some fast-typing/touching are interpreted as gestures (swipe down-to-up = home, left-to-right = previous...)
In the same registry, I noticed that, if you use a scrollable widget (Google Agenda in planning display) and if you scroll down on it (in order to see the bottom lines for example), MIUI interpret it as a down-to-up gesture (and so, go back to home, or search).
So, I really hope that in a future update, the sensibility of these gestures could be decreased/improved...
For now, you could :
Enable the one-hand mode ok Google Keyboard as proposed by @rodaven (but personnaly, I dislike the fact to have a small keyboard with a lot of lost space around it...)
Disable the full sceen display mode (and so, say goodbye to the gestures feature)
Stay on full screen mode and gestures, get upset when you write a message and pray for un update

Thank you so much!
I have the gestures disabled because of that but it still happens in the keyboard (I don't like the one-hand mode). So, we need to wait hoping it'll be solved.

In my opinion, it's the same issue.
Due to the full screen/gesture feature, fast multitouches are interpreted as a gesture.
On my video, you could see it.
On the issue from MIUI website, users asked that swipe/gesture are disable over keyboard when it's on-screen.
I think it should be a solution to combine gesture navigation and fast multitouch/type.
Personnaly, I disable full screen/gesture navigation (for now, sadly) and the issue desappear, that's why I'm pretty sure it's a software issue (which concern very model with this feature).
I changed my screen
Actually i cracked my screen and replaced new lcd from aliexpress claimed original. I checked it is JDI. But the touch issues still persist. I think its xiaomi driver.. or i dont know.. i really regret having this phone

Some info about 8.12.7 with touch issues

The UI and touches have become far more smoother and responsive after this updated BUT also comes with another issue.
Multi touches/Ghost touches now VERY NOTICEABLE and screen freezes always occur and for a temporary fix you have to lock and unlock your phone. So when playing PUBG those ghost touches will mess up your aiming example when moving and aiming together suddenly your aiming aims to the sky/ground/random places with no explanation. Also the nav buttons and the middle area sometimes doesn't register any touches and this happened around 8.11.23.
8.11.15 =probably have the less multi touch/ghost touch issues but have some sort of delay around the edges/keyboard lag
8.11.23 =fixed the touch delay on edges/keyboard lag but multi touches and screen freezes is more noticeably.
8.11.29 =same issues as .23 except it's the issues is getting worser + screen flicker yay
8.12.7 =touch and UI overall is much smoother but issues from .23 and .29 is now getting out of hand and playing tap intensive games like MOBAs and drums is heavily affected. PUBG also keeps aimiing randomly at the skies/ground when aiming+moving
I wish the devs bring the touch edges delay fix back to 8.11.15 and see how it goes
I hope the next version fixes the multi touches issue and screen freezes also
On 8.12.7 All the touch issues are solved.

Still doesn't fix the screen freezes, multitouches/ghost touches and screen flickers
But when I used 8.11.15 never had screen freezes, ghost touches error. Only touch delay lag.
I suggest your should try tapping intensive game that involve tapping on the edges like drums or sthing to check your phone.

Even i'm not on closed beta so i dont know about close group butvyou can find one telegram ground by googling POCO Official telegram.
And last thing is to tag poco team & jai mani on twitter with issue. It works many time s
no touch issues here

As a non gamer I must say that touch seemed fine to me until flashing 8.11.29 (previously had 8.11.15).
Now the touch response seems really laggy and typing on Gboard became highly frustrating.
I've read in forums like a dozen times every week people saying that the next build fixed all touch problems, but to me, it's worse than ever.
Hope the next build fixes this, or I will just revert back to 8.11.15 until they can sort this out, assuming that the problem is not hardware without the expected quality.

Same issue here
Same issue here when playing any moba and pubg specific so when any update or fixing for this problem let us know
Has anyone tried 8.12.13?.. are these touch issues resolved- ghost touch and screen unresponsiveness??
Just got the open beta 8.12.13 OTA, following are the observation :-
1) Keyboard lag is minimized.
2) Scrolling near edges is improved but still buggy near bezels.
3) YouTube picture-in-picture mode doesn't work in full screen gesture mode in poco launcher home screen.
4) Screen flickering in lock screen is gone but further need to be tested.
4) Icon refresh is still there when minimizing any app.
5) Back gesture now works properly when any app folder on home screen is open.
6) Tuch delay of back button of navigation Bar is gone.
7) Touch sensitive of screen is bit improved.
8) Something flower like icon is added in left bottom of lockscreen.
9) Notification icon is same it was in previous beta.

Android 11 Dev Preview new stuff

I just flashed the new Android 11 beta on my Pixel 4 to just check out what's new and thought we could have a little discussion about some of the bigger changes and opinions. The changes I immediately am excited about are:
1) Finally added a pause/play gesture to project Soli!! (Works fantastic)
2) In the display settings, there is now a toggle to increase display touch sensitivity for screen protectors
3) Added a new qs icon for the built in screen recording
While testing the new Soli pause/play, I also immediately noticed how much more improved all of the hand gestures are. Not just the new pause, but also the skipping forward and backwards are so much more accurate and successful for me. It's an extremely welcome change and while Soli always worked decent for me, on the 11 beta I'm getting about 95%-99% success on all hand gestures compared to my about 80% on Android 10.
The screen sensitivity is another welcome addition for me personally. I have a glass screen protector and with the new option enabled, I can absolutely feel a difference in display response. I will admit that before updating, I hadn't had any screen responsiveness complaints but now that there's an option to improve it, I am very pleased with the results. If anything, it may be a tiny bit too responsive. While typing this post out, Gboard seems to occasionally hit a letter before I actually make contact with the screen. Other than that, it's fantastic. My back gestures seem to be the most beneficial from this.
The screen recording qs icon is a cool new addition, although I had native screen recording enabled on Android 10, there was no super quick way to start a recording session.
Lastly, I noticed a few new things in developer options but as I'm no Dev, I really don't know what they do. Oh, they did add a screen frame-rate overlay so you can see the current refresh rate of your screen.
I will be running this for a few days to see if and how battery life is affected and I'll post my findings here. Feel free to comment additional findings or opinions on the new Android 11 beta!
Here are some screenshots of my findings so far.

Strange, I haven't heard of this being an issue for anyone else yet. I even dirty flashed the 11 beta, didn't erase my userdata so I was expecting issues and it's been flawless. Try re-flashing the Android 11 factory image, that we almost certainly fix your issue.

It's a fresh installation with all data wipe . Strange. Maybe I should try the OTA method.

No luck, I'll probably go back to rooted stock 10. I can't use the phone without root and Fingerface.
Once we get root for this then i will try it out

Face unlock working fine here too, only issue I had was I didn't extract the zip into its entirety of the platform tools folder. That took me 2 hours to figure out how to flash without error.

Yeah, Google pay does not work on it. I received a pop up about it earlier this morning.
For those having face unlock setup issues: Factory reset your phone either in recovery or the settings menu. This happens when you don't clear face unlock before flashing a factory image with the -w option.
(Also, finally hitting my 1000th post with this 10 years later... Can't believe it's been that long)

Hmm. Was afraid to read that. So if we are able to use Google pay we have to wait until Google ads the preview to safely net to pass i think... So i wait... G-Pay is evident to me.

Nope, unfortunately the Pixel line will most likely never have hardware HDMI out capability due to the Chromecast's existence. I have a Chromecast and still would love to have HDMI over usb-c, it's just not going to happen.

Poco X2 Touch Issues, Just me?

I had already made a similar thread(https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-x2/help/backspace-virtual-keyboard-missing-t4069481) but I did not want to revive that or change that, maybe Mods can delete the old one.
Anyway, I am facing touch issues with the backspace but after some testing, I found out that it is bottom two corners. Topside is hard to diagnose.
I am linking a video showing these issues.
The problems I faced are
1) Backspace has some lag compared to other keys
2) sometimes backspace does not even register
If you watch the video you will see that sometimes even though touch is being acknowledged there seem to be some software edge padding or something which does not let the UI react to the touches, or it may be a hardware issue, idk. In the video, while touching at the corner you will see some gaps in-between touches which are actually totally unregistered touches which come as gaps in between touches.
Do you guys also have this issue?
App used : Multi Touch Test
Watch video at 0:15, 1:35, 2:55

@tinted
Your touchscreen looks fine cuz it correctly displays white dots you touched.
I guess Miui ignores touch events if Miui thinks there's not enough touched area.
I think Xiaomi may adjust it in the future.
I tried that testing app, my K30 shows same with your video.

Do you also have a problem with backspace being different in response compared to other keys?
I asked some other Poco X2 users in telegram group and they said they dont have that issue.

I am returning the phone since its only been 4 days but after I get a replacement I will root and stuff. Don't know if I will change the ROM entirely, will have to do some research on what features I will get vs what I will loose.

Question Ghost touch issue

Hey guys!
I'm currently on ArrowOS 07.09 build with firmware 12.5.1. In the last 2 weeks I got ghost touch issues quite frequent. The phone starts to recognize touches crazy fast without me touching it and doing random things. I have to lock the phone with the power button to make it stop.
Does anyone else have or had the same issue? Is it a hw or sw related issue in your opinion? Any tips, ideas, working methods are welcome to make it stop.
Thank you!
It's mostly a SW issue , but it can also be a hardware issue(extremely rare),change the room to pixel plus UI 3.7 most stable(tested by me).
edit: also less bugs than others and very fluent.
I had the same problem. The solution is to turn off the Game Turbo app. Your problem will be solved.
Mine problem is solved by send it to service center. They replaced screen module.
Reporting.
For anyone facing heavy ghost touch issue, you might want to try indonesian miui 12.5.2 rom (rjuidxm)
Previously I got ghost touch on xiaomi.eu 12.0.4, 12.5.1, 12.5.2 to 12.5.4, few arrow OS version, to the point that I got tired of testing backing up restoring and doing clean flash everytime, because this is my primary phone I use for daily driver
But now I have used miui 12.5.2 ID for 9 days and haven't faced any ghost touch.. I also always turned on show taps on dev options so that I'll know if theres any ghost touch, and theres none so far (I have 6/128 unit with tianma panel)
But there's huge performance drop in this rom, game that I play (PGR) have noticeable frame drops where theres none before, others also reported lower performance on genshin impact
i dont have such issue
at least i dont notice it responding to "something" when i just leave it on table
btw, clothing contacts are also contact

software my friend , i write it fast
For me, it has helped now to set the refresh rate and the screen to 60 Hz. We'll see for how long. All other activities did not help, including the game turbo exclusion.
Unfortunately, but with the 60 Hz refresh, the touch has gone crazy once, but it probably happens less often
well it depends on what screen you have, if it's tianma the ghost touch is "normal" and will only get worse because is hardware related, if it's Huaxing it's probably software related or (very bad luck) defective screen...
you can know your screen:
If you are on a Custom ROM or have installed Magisk:
1. Download Device Info HW application
2. Tap on 3 dots in the right corner of the application
4. Restart the app
5. Check LCM (above touchscreen)
dsi_j20s-42-02-0b <- CSOT/Huaxing
dsi_j20s-36-02-0a <- Tianma
If you are on MIUI without root:
1. Open your dialer and enter: *#*#284#*#*;
2. Open a File Manager, go to ~/MIUI/debug_log/ directory, you should see an archive named bugreport-yyyy-mm-dd-HHMMSS; (Date and time when bugreport was created)
3. Extract that archive, then extract another archive which was in bugreport zip, its name should look like this - bugreport-vayu_global-RKQ1.200826.002-2021-05-27-13-32-52.
4. In bugreport-vayu_global folder open dumpstate_board.txt and type in search tianma. If it's found, you have tianma, otherwise huaxing.
Thanks. I checked my tianma. I found such a coincidence "MDPPLATFORM_PANEL_TIANMA_NT36672C_J20S_LCD_VIDEO" How do you think to advertise the phone?
Well there is many reports that it fixed with MIUI 12.5.5.0 global latest update. ( confirm it, please!?)
For me never happened "tianma".
Regards

yes my phone update the MIUI to 12.5.5.0 and everything its good and smooth but I'm a little scared, if another update ends up breaking the device. On the other hand, I activated the option, to see the touches on the screen through the developer options, and detect that when I use YouTube and try to put a video in landscape using the button in the video, a single ghost touch appears in the middle of the screen, it does not affect at all apparently, but it seems to me that the ghost touches were not corrected correctly or in its entirety.
