I've just got a U12+ with dual SIM support (not a conscious choice, it's just what was available). I never intend to use the second SIM slot (for extra memory yes, but not for a SIM). Is there a way to make the system behave like a single-SIM system?
There are several places where extra SIM info displays, and it's all superfluous and makes more noise in the UI if you only use a single SIM. For example the carrier name at top of screen is followed by "(SIM 1)"; the cellular signal has a "1" next to it; when a text arrives it has an icon next to it; and the text send button says "SIM 1" next to it. (Update: For the last thing, the text is modifiable via the dual sim manager, cannot be empty, but a blank is accepted, so that is gone, but only from that one place it seems.)
There are probably other places where "SIM 1" is shown. Is there a way to turn off all the extra SIM 1 stuff? Pretty unimportant, but would be nice...

Hello Time Lord,
There is no solution for this yet.. Maybe Viper U12 can do it, or it will can do it. I didnt try this yet, because its beta status (but im really happy for Viper on U12, thanks for the developers! ).

The more I think about this... the dual SIM support and behaviour is probably more about how android works, right? It's not really specific to this device, but would occur with any dual SIM phone? If so, the question/rfe should be redirected to google...

Hi
Is there any way to have 2 SIM cards in our UNIĀ“s?
Gracias
been wondering of that too. just bought a second hand uni to tried out
I had one for my universal last year and it worked well.
It involved trimming your sim card a bit but it comes with a template to use.
I got mine form ebay and think it was called something like Ghost Dual SIM?
I see this:
http://www.simore.ch/
I think that it is serious product (you can ask the company for special test)
I have this and I use up to 5 different numbers with no problem:

No, I can't have connected same time 2 phone numbers!
But alternative (having one number each time), I have the opportunity to have up to 16 different numbers (and networks), in the same SIM card.
I change from one to another number, through STK service, menu.

Thanks a lot. What products did you purchase? I understood in the web that you have to move some data using your pc from original sims into the sim they provide you.
I don't want to use a cut sim...

I bought the 'Supersim 16in1 SIM', which comes with a blank sim card that can hold up to 16 numbers, it has the programmer which can read the original SIM and then copy to the supersim card, and the nessesary software.

No need to reset.
Just activate STK menu and choose desired line.
It supports UMTS (I don't know if it is the same or not as HSDPA)
Guys...i have checke Duosim and im impressed...
....but what if one of the local networks is 3G and the other is not?
please guys....any idea...
For that you have to have Duo-X2 (Cut sim) to use. This supports both GSM and 3G. I have ordered which is on its way. The supplier mentioned that both SIMs will be active with autoswitch function.
auto lock
i ve got a prob with ghost dual sim,
after using it, n still being inside my uni, sometime the device is auto locked with a password which i never have set.
only way to pass beyond this password is to reset the device.
any idea how to get rid of this ****.
Am about to buy a Note 10.1 in the next coming weeks and wanted to get an indication on which variant is getting the most XDA developer support. My preference is for the N8000 but it's not available directly in the UK or US so am concerned that no ROM development will take place for it.
Which variant do you think will become / is most popular with the developers?
So far it seems the n8000 has the most dev, as far as i know.
Not by a lot though, just buy whichever one suits your needs better
Sent from my HTC Glacier running CM7
Yep, I think I'll go with the N8000. Just need to check the US networks to make sure the 3G/HSDPA will work properly there.
All the version with respect to hardware are the same except for the voice data services being absent in some versions and limited in some, I do not see how an 800 rom will not work will not work with other versions though I may be wrong as I am not an expert.
It will however you might find you have battery drain as an 8000 rom will be searching for asim card and network... You might also have an annoying notification popping up all the time telling you that no sim card is installed....
yes that will be the case as there is no way you can disable sim services and secondly its an annoying thing that when you remove a sim it will show that notification and there no way to stop it the funny thing is it wont happen until the first time you insert the sim card

That's interesting to know as my intention was to get the N8000 but not use a sim card in it initially until I got to the US early next year. So as soon as I put the sim card in it will start continually nagging that there is no card after the card has been removed. Also, I guess the battery drain would also occur in the N8000 without a sim card as the service cannot be stopped.
Would a possible work around be to put an old expired pay as you go sim into it?

Which is why you shouldn't purchase a non compatible phone, for use in another area?
This is why you shouldn't buy this phone from the scalpers. The chinese version does not support many of the worldwide bands that the "global" version of the phone does. My advice would be to try to sell it to someone who can use it and sign up on the OnePlus forums and wait for an invite for the CM version which supports the bands you need.
Get a new sim, sounds like an old sim that doesn't have the updated CellID info in it.
I had to change my 3 sim when I had my SGS4 as it wouldn't register because it was too old.

I had that happen to me on the interational one and felt quite dumb afterwards...
Make sure the SIM card tray is rotated DOWN so that the contacts on the sim card look to the back of the phone.
It will fit both ways (imho a very strange design choice) but with a tiny little space left when rotated the wrong way.
In other words: turn the phone on it's screen before inserting the sim card facing you.
I have _NO_ clue why the phone thinks it has a SIM card when obviously it cannot access it...

Hi,
Went to the local shop, opened the SIM tray and we saw there were connectors for 2 SIM cards. Seems that there is only the SIM tray (easy to modify) that changes in the hardware.
My question is : is it possible to modify the software/phone for it to recognise 2 SIM cards like the Chinese variant?

nope can't find one.
But i was able to adapt it and it recognized the second sim. But won't connect the second sim to the network as it doesn't have a second IMEI "yet".
So trying to find solutions with some friends.

This is to "fix" an IMEI.... i need to add one. SIM1 connects with no issue... where as SIM2 can't as it doesn't have an IMEI.

A quick question, what happens if you pull the SIM1 (the fully working one) out? Does the SIM2 (the limited one) work now?
And what if you physically switch them in the SIM card tray?
This might be a great test to whether it's a physical or a software limitation.

SIM1 + SIM2 = you only see the information
SIM2 only = it says insert sim
SIM2 SIm into SIM1 slot = works normal
we tried "nearly" everything, and the only possibility would be to unlock bootloader, and flash a ROM with pieces of the Chinese ROM and still there we might not even make it work as there is no second IMEI - I guess it's possible to flash it one way or the other, but to much work. It's easier to buy the chinese one, adb pm (delete) what apps you want to delete (like the launcher, we test on the global x2Pro with nova installed and it worked fine.

So at this stage, you're saying you're almost certain the single-SIM global version will stay single SIM?

Maybe only for you. I used to buy dual sim phones in the past, but nowadays network providers have all-in packages which allows me to use my sim in the EU with no extra cost.

That is correct. But I compared the bands, and they are the exactly the same as the Chinese version. Now I'm sending back the global version and getting the Chinese from wondamobile Monday.
Will be testing it and making the changes I need to make it work. We also tested the launcher issue, and it's an easy fix. So if you NEED dual SIM I think the Chinese version will be fine unless you need languages that are not on the Chinese firmware.

Of course, I forgot to mention it's just my opinion; I have access to some data-only packages which offer unlimited data with decent speeds - these data plans would utilize dual SIM the best.
Anyway, may I ask you couple of questions (mostly just clarifications):
- Is there eSIM possibility for the Find X2 Pro?
- VoLTE and VoWiFi working?
- Is there any notification restriction (autostart - as other guys have mentioned for the Chinese version)?
- Can you set your fingerprint as an access to some apps/password fill (the same way Samsung does it with One UI)?
Thank you Sir!
That's for you. But I have two lines work and private. Thus I need two Sims.

I still hope the Global ROM will be successfully ported on a Chinese device as, from what I understood, the PDEM software has some limitations regarding notifications and running apps? Furthermore I'd appreciate VoLTE and Hey Google fully running.
I don't think it will be an issue. VOLTE is often a carrier/manufacturer issue. I had that probleme with a op7p before, and there was a quick fix for it... I'm not really worried about it.
As of the ok Google thing...we will see. Let me get the phone between my hand and I'll see that with Mauro.

As far as I know there is no eSim option (I've read somewhere)
Both VoLTE and VoWIFI working
About notification restrictions: I haven't experienced any issues with notification. WhatsApp, email, telegram, etc works ok.
I'm sure that fingerprint can be set for some apps. I'm sure about that (I think the device asks you at first setup)

I don't think so as apparently OPPO has completly blocked the possibility to add an IMEI. So it's going to be hard.

IMEIs are primarily used as an anti-theft measure and adding or changing them is made all but impossible as a result.
I was considering getting this phone (there is a crazy deal for it available in Germany at the moment) but the lack of Dual-SIM is really making me hesitate. It feels so arbitrary that they removed it and practically all devices in this price range feature it. And wireless charging. Who ever though that wireless charging was superfluous -.-
Hi,
I have dual SIM version of the Velvet. Previously I used Xiaomi MI9 (also dual SIM), and when I switched I was so surprised the way you get to choose from witch SIM card you are making a call. Is that really it that in LG you need to choose SIM card in notifications menu before making a call?
For example MIUI gives you different options, one SIM to be default or ask before making a call, or you can always tap and hold contact to choose a SIM card...
That's weird, or am I missing a setting?
Hi have you had an answer for this? I'm hesitating between this and a Xiaomi device and dual sim usage is really important to me

No, I just got used to it, that I must double check which SIM card is currently selcted. It's annoying but well... it works, though. I switched from Mi9, but it had terrible battery life. I still see people annoyed from battery problems in their Xiaomi.

Hi thanks for answering! I can get the Redmi Note 10 pro and the LG velvet for the same price; that's why I have been hesitating, but my current phone is still working so whichever is cheaper will be my next phone haha
How is your transition from MIUI to the Velvet UI? I have never tried MIUI before but from videos I have seen, I really like the way it looks, LG's UI on the other hand, I still have mixed feelings...
Velvet UI and MIUI are a bit different, but can't tell which one is better. Maybe one thing I miss is gesture navigation. I have chosen Velvet because of Dual Screen case - the one thing that distinguished that phone among others.
