Yes, the first thing i want to say : "Nokia can change screen resolution 2K to FHD" but they don't release this in setting.
So i have a way to solve this problem, follow steps by step.
.
First u need install app " QuickShortcut Maker"
-open this app and accept permission, in activities tab find setting *com.android.setting* and click this.
-Pull down the bottom and pull up and find setting *display resolution* and choose it, then click "Try"
Now u can choose resolution that u want.
p.s : If u want make the icon bigger, change "DPI" in ur devlopment setting. The default is 376.

sorry about for my english. but i have somethings about battery i want say to you.
First- Does it get more battery ... ?
yes but not to much. And working for those who play game.
so Why ?
for example ur display is 2k with 5xx dpi. when u decrease to fhd it down to 4xx dpi. Then when u play game with display FHD, gpu will use lower performance compare with display 2k.
Two- Some problem happen with this change ?
sure... the first is glance (so for those who always use this setting, dont try change resolution)
-some other problem (like get airplane mode,....etc ) . I will say "no".
me and my friend on my group no one get any the other problem except glane setting. So for those who get other problem.... are u launch other shorcut in shorcut maker ? .Because i try and get error same. So... factory reset and forget my post
Awesome. It works I didn't find "Shortcut Remake" app but I found a similar app "QuickShortcutMaker".

Wow, thanks OP. FYI the app link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut and you can just type resolution in the Activities tab.
Since I changed the resolution, the phone is put in random airplane mode. I came back to the original QHD settings
Wow, this is a great discovery, I benchmarked my Nokia 8 using GFX Benchmark and found out that performance is significantly improved. Check it out

Nokia QHD https://www.dropbox.com/s/dt90w0sli8fttdm/nokia8_QHD.png?dl=0
SoT improvement!
I believe the screen on time has improved greatly under heavy workload specially in games.
I was still left with 22% of battery after 6 hours of heavy usage.
Some battery life for me , no changes
This actually works and what's it's more important, stays after reboot.
After installing app just type "resolution" this will take you to hidden setting.
Phone is definitely a little bit faster, not sure about baterry etc.
Lots of interesting findings in the Settings app, including face unlock but so far other than what the OP said, only Gaming Mode is working. Others are either not working or have no effects on my device.

Hi guys,
Got an annoying problem with my Opera. Everytime when I'm loading special mobile-webpages such as m.spiegel.de, wap.bild.de, or m.espn.go.com these do not fit my screen and it is not possible to zoom out to make it fit:
{

Ticking mobile-mode diesn't help me out (and I also don't want it because I'm briwsking non-mobile websites (like XDA) also and that looks quite crappy in mobile mode. I also changed my UA in the registry to the one of Touch HD.
The pictures and also the written parts are always too broad for the resolution.
Do you all have the same problem? I'm using German 1.48 stock ROM. If you don't have the problem, how can I solve it for me?
Big THX in advance!!
Did you try Internet Explorer?
I like Opera a lot, but on mobile web pages it sometimes looks weird. On touch.facebook.com it doesn't always shows the space between sentences. Same on my Nokia N86, i prefer using the native Symbian browser when visiting m.something.com pages, rather than using Opera
Hi. Yes, you're right. They fit the screen perfectly in IEmobile. Good to know. But I'm still asking myself, why can't Opera do that?
Doesn't anybody else have that problem as well? Does nobody browse mobile-pages with HD2? Pleease help!!
I honestly don't know.
I like to nag opera with such issues
Good news: I solved the problem by myself!
The reason for the crappy displaying of mobile websites in Opera are the default Opera-settings by HTC...
For anybody who's interested - here's a step by step guide to change these settings:
1. Open Opera Mobile
2. Type opera:config into the adress-bar
3. Click the point "Adaptive Zoom"
4. Change the values to the following:
I guess that the only point that's really important causing my problem is the "Default Zoom" - by HTC it was 175% I think - 100% fit waay better into the screen...
5. Click "Save" right below the "Adaptive Zoom"-settings.
6. Restart Opera.
7. Because of the big WVGA-resolution it may be useful to go now into regular settings on the bottom right and tick the option for biggest font-size as possible...
8. DONE. After this procedure the pages (same as I capped in the initial post) look as they're meant to be - like that:
Hope that I could myybe help someone with the same problem like I had - as XDA helped me approximately for 1000 times.
Cheers.
Hi, this is exactly what I am fightning with....
In Opera, when I look at the adaptive zoom, set it to 100 (like you) it WILL not resize the browser window??
I cannot make it zoom so it will fit full screen widht?
I put in the same numbers like you - it still too wide. After changing the numbers, the screen where you type in font sizes gets VERY small?
Am I doing something wrong?
Helle
Don't know what causes your problem. With my configuration e.g. the normal settings-section in Opera gets quite small as well, but I guess that's because of the browser is not written for such a big resolution. What you can do is changing the font size. First in normal settings under "display" (don't know the exact name because I'm using a German device - take it analogously) - choose the biggest option for the font size; second you can edit the font sizes also in the aboutpera-area. I suggest just some experimenting (I realized, that when I tick lots of settings to default (not HTC's default) - it gets looking better and better - HTC just messed up the settings obviously...). You can after these experiments easily undo them, so feel free to test.
hmm strange, I cleared out the cashe, but that did not help either. Tried to set the default zoom to 90% - nada, does not respond ?
It is amazing that the phone company does not make default issues MUCH easier to config....
Can't figure it out ... evv
Here video from app I'm developing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxD65fDYSGw
Idea is simple - change LCD density without modifying build.prop and almost on the fly.
Application will change LCD density in system, changes will not survive reboot (so if you have wrong settings, pull out battery or restart device and you are back to old settings). For now best way to change density is to reload Android software stack (it will seems like crash but it's intended to be this way).

Looks Very Nice Going to test it out on my Rooted Cliq (2.1) Tell you how it goes
Edit: It works fine on my phone w/o issues detected
Sweet! Downloading and trying ASAP!
From what I've seen on video, you're not having so called "Compatibility mode" to resize apps to new density, am I right? It would be a sweet feature.
So, I see there is rival to "LCD Density Changer" :}.
It was quick and dirty test Released test version auto scale should work.
About "LCD Density Changer" - both programs differ in a way how changes are preserved. My program does not write anything on /system, so it's better for those who wants "high res" effect to be available quickly but not all the time (or those who use "LCD Density Changer" and wants to play some games that's not compatible with high resolutions ). "LCD Density Changer" saves edits to /system partition - for long term use.
I know I know, but you must admit - effect is pretty the same . It is not definitive in one case, which has its pros and cons.
Regardless how cool idea is, I have a problem with app - I installed it, opened it, choosed one option and... nothing. Tried it on 1.6 (official Donut for my country, rooted + busybox) and for Froyo (CM6), same issue .
Please try with newest package.
Honestly, no need for it now . App had some hard times asking for superuser permission, but when it did, everything just works! Great app. Still some features like returning to default density and compatibility mode are good to have .
Thanks a bunch, great piece of code!
Very interesting app!..andyes, return to default would be very nice.

I'm not using j_r0dd's rom in fact im using [Rom] adlxmod 2.0.2 - Android 2.1 with Motoblur. I should of been rather specific, if you need further proof I can use a screenshot of one.
The problem is that it doesn't use busybox. It relies on built-in unix commands. Busybox implementation will fix it.
Implemented this in my app as "preview". Happy to see a competitor

Which setting did You tried?
i tried 120, and then the phone rebooted and continuously rebooted for a while until i remove the battery.
work on motorola cliq. thx mate.
Tried on Nexus One.
120 rebooted but didn't do anything.
Tried 180, 200, 220 which all worked, but everything looks too weird for me. Didn't like it. Went to 240 which seems like back to default.
works nice setted now on 120 on my htc hero
Total fail on my Vibrant. Selected 200 (the recommended setting for Galaxy S/Vibrant), and the screen simply went blank, phone froze completely requiring battery pull.
At least it didn't change anything permanently, so I guess it's safe. But it doesn't work.
Lots of good reports from the T-Mobile Pulse community, works perfectly!
Hi XDA community,
As you might be able to tell from the title, I wrote a Tic Tac Toe app as an exercise. I had only briefly looked at Android development previously, but never actually had a finished app published before.
If anyone has the time, would you mind trying the app out and putting up a review here or on the Google Play site? I'm new to this and would like as much criticism I can get from anyone. I also wouldn't mind help on getting more people to download the app, as that will bring it up in the rankings and hopefully others will download it as well.
Here is the link in case you decide to try the app out: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alex.tictactoe
Anyways, thanks in advance and enjoy your day =)

That's strange. I don't know why it would hang like that. ... The layout looks fine. The app seems to scale well across various density screens. Have you tried the hard level? You can switch levels through the Menu. I should make a settings activity and put it as a third button in the front screen. I'll look into why it hangs though.
Well, i didnt try the hard level, but i will.
Edit: Its laggy only the first time i start or if its cleared from memory. After some time, it starts running good.
Hard mode is nice.

I'll keep Hard mode as it is then.
The program "programmatically" makes a small database table to store the scores. This should happen every time the data is cleared. But that shouldn't be causing too much of lag. I'm not sure how I can tweak the database though.
Don't worry too much. My phone is low and i got used with laggy games. If you can fix the layout for my screen it would be great.
But you can make a settings activity or tell the users they can change the difficulty from menu, a toast for the first time they play for example.

From your earlier screenshot, it seems the bottoms gets cut off? Your phone is more squarish. I could make a layout for smaller screens with smaller text. That might work.
Tested on my lg p970, good job, thx

Yes. Maybe if you get off the title and make those two buttons smaller, clear board and reset scores, it will be ok. Also, you can put them in the menu.
Thanks for looking at the app ComfyMobile!.
eliboy, I am currently working on another app and don't have time to alter the Tic Tac Toe app. I hope you understand. However, thank you for the input. If I decide to go back and rework some parts of the app, I'll keep in mind the "square" resolutions as well. Thanks!

KeepItOn (KIO) is an application designed to end the scourge of the screen turns off while we are reading or watching something. So annoying, at least for me…
How it works
KIO detect any small movements and prolongs the time to turn off the screen, like if you have touched the screen. Even if the screen turns off, you can always shake to wake you up during a time set by you, default is 5 seconds, and by shake I mean move slightly.
Please test it, rate it and give your feedback.
I will try to attend possible requests as soon as I can.

how this will affect on battery?
Thank you Sir :good: .. Works good on Lenovo A3000 with andrid 4.2.2
Will motion keep it awake if it's in your pocket and you're walking, or does it use the proximity sensor to prevent that? Will the motion of a moving car keep the screen from turning off?

Yes, this is a background process that reads the accelerometer. However when screen is off the service is running but it is doing nothing.
I am using for two weeks and have not noticed any significant change with the battery consumption.

Is there something like this for Xposed?

Due to all the requests that I have had, I decide to add a feature that check the proximity sensor in order to detect if phone is in the pocket, prevent that way that phone stay alive forever in the pocket, draining all the battery.
Please test it and help me make KeepItOn better.
Happy new year everyone!
I've previously turned on the app, set it to "auto start", rebooted & now I've noticed that it was turned off. Maybe this was only to me. By the way, great app.
sir you deserved lots of thanks from me it's great app
I can see advantages to this app and I can see disadvantages too...
Is there any way to make this "app dependant", so like it will only keep the screen on when compared to a whitelist of apps, otherwise it will leave the screen off as normal? For example, it would be very useful to have the screen stay on for reading from a browser, but not when my phone is just displaying the launcher homescreen? I know it is probably asking the earth or close to the impossible but I thought i would ask anyway
New update available.
- Notification Icon
- Minor bug fixes
This update is a big update for android 4.4.2 users since there is a bug on that android version, for that users "Notification Icon" must be always on. More info here.

The first objective of the app is the simplicity, but I will though about that feature and see if it's worth.
I've got notification icon enabled in settings but I don't see the icon in the status bar. Running 4.4.4 on a Sprint Moto X.
Hi guys,
I am happy to share with you a simple tip which will improve your battery performance.
The main trick about this is to lower the display resolution. For doing this you need the following:
A PC/MAC
ADB Drivers
An HTC U ULTRA
A brain.
Step 1 - You install the ADB drivers on your computer.
Step 2 - Enable Developer option on your HTC U ULTRA.
Step 3 - From developer option check USB Debugging
Step 4 - Connect your phone via USB Cable to your PC
Step 5 - Check your adb conection by running this command on your PC terminal : adb devices.

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 6 - input this command : adb shell
Step 7: to change your screen resolution input: wm size 1080x1920
this will turn your phone at 1080p.
Step 8 - adjust your dpi on how you prefer using the following command: wm density 480
For this you can choose whatever you prefer. I prefer 480 on 1080p resolution.
Step 9 - Enjoy
You can go even further and try something like 900x1600 this will make your phone really snappy and will also improve your battery life. It's true, the image is not so sharp but, you get used to it.
If you want to revert to original try the following : wm size 1440x2720
The density it's up to you, You can also reset the density from Display settings form your phone.
This will work on a non-rooted devices, so, enjoy your new battery performance.
Why would this improve battery life?

Please correct this - HTC U Ultra has two displays - resolution of big one is 1440x2560 (not 1440x2720) so if you want to revert resolution to default one this is correct: wm size 1440x2560
If you try 1440x2720 resolution, image will be bigger then screen so you will not see bottom.

Yes. Image was bigger then screen, so bottom was hidden... You can see resolutions of screen on gsmarena - main screen is 1440x2560 and secondary is 1040 x 160 (https://www.gsmarena.com/htc_u_ultra-8519.php). So, when you add up 2560 and 160 you get 2720...

The most power-hungry part of the screen component isn't the screen resolution, but the backlight. Though these commands are easy to execute but I don't think its worth for the effort to extend your SOT for not more than 20%. Correct me if I'm wrong
