Hi all, I just recieved my phone and it works fine, problem, I am a Tmobile subscriber and the phone is a SM-G930A Ver. 6.01 marshmallow. I can't update OTA and some other issues. I want to flash to Tmobile and have downloaded these files as well as Odin, phone in developer options correct, etc. Will this work? I am also concerned about KNOX, should I be? Thanks in advance, a newbie.

KNOX only trips when you flash custom firmware, so if you've got the stock firmware files it shouldn't trip KNOX, just make sure you got them from a reliable source (simfirmtool, sammobile, updato etc)
You should have 4 or 5 files to flash with Odin, AP, CP, BL and CSC (or HOME_CSC, which doesn't wipe data, CSC does, choose one)
You can't flash an older Android version on Snapdragon devices but you can sidegrade or upgrade, but since you're flashing from 6 to 7 it shouldn't be an issue.

Lollipop upgrade is rolled out just for USA T-Mobile users ( N915TUVU1ANK3 and N915TUVU1ANJL). I have a N915T (T-Mobile) but base band is different from USA users ( it's Trinidad and Tobago N915TUBU1AOA2). I'm trying to upgrade to lollipop by downloading the firmware which is released for USA and Odin. I also wan to root the Lolli after that.
General Questions regarding Odin :
Q1: If I upgrade 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 by Odin successfully, what will I lost ? Aps, Aps settings, Internal SD Data, contacts ....
Q2: if it's unsuccessful can I do a reset factory to turn back to my previous Android ?

Hi,
1. You'll lost all your data on internal storage, applications installed, and configurations that you have done. So do backup before upgrading with ODIN.
2. You can't. Since the phone will brick. Flash the correct firmware again should work.
3. You shouldn't. The best way is to wait for the update roll up for your TTT Note Edge (because USA T-Mobile is different than TTT). Since some of the devices are carrier/bootloader locked.
Sorry, too many edits.

My wife has a S8 unlocked SM-950U I followed the carrier switching instructions here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/snap-guide-flashing-standard-fw-carrier-t3625817 to load ATT firmware in the hope of getting carrier features like wi-fi calling, video calling etc. to work. In sort none of those features work and now she is not getting any OTA updates and still on security patch level from july 2017
1. Can i flash this over the current firmware NRD90M.G950USQS1AQF7 service provider says ATT/ATT/XAA
2. Will it flash a non-carrier version or att branded version we have att sim?
3. will she get OTA updates after this?
4. will user data be erased?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Hello,
Bought one S7 with a BIG discount at a local carrier and they also provided network unlock. The phone has a "generic" ROM but with custom carrier boot up logos and other minor things i want to revert to stock Samsung. My real question is that a friend also bought the same phone and flashed the BTU UK rom with ODIN and althought the phone flashed ok with stock ROM, KNOX was tripped and now he cant use S Health and other security related stuff.
With *#1234# i have:
AP: G930FXXU1BPH6
CP: G930FXXU1BPIN
CSC: G930FOPT1BPI1
With Phone Info i dont have multi CSC, only the one from the carrier (OPT)
Wich country ROM should i flash with ODIN to get the phone as stock Samsung and without tripping KNOX? My worries are warranty issues if KNOX is tripped…
Thanks a million!
Flashing stock does not trip KNOX, only flashing custom, so either your friend isn't telling you the whole story, or it was already tripped
You can flash any stock ROM with ODIN as many times as you want and it will never trip KNOX
BTU or XEU are both UK unbranded G930F ROMs
BTU has Oreo 8.0
XEU is still on Nougat 7.0 right now
Yeah, i talked to him on the phone 10 minutes ago. His problema was that he downloaded the firmware from SAMMOBILE and when he placed the AP in ODIN it complained about md5 something… he said that he deleted the md5 extension and the flash went forward. Then the result was KNOX tripped.
Can i flash BTU for Portugal? Can i flash directly from android 6 to 8?
Thanks.

Never heard of that happening before, anyway yes you should be able to flash BTU over portugal, as long as you use CSC and not HOME_CSC, flash all 4 parts, AP, BL, CP and CSC
And yes, 8 will flash over 6 as it replaces the whole OS, it's not an upgrade when changing CSCs
You might need to select "Re-partition" in ODIN 3.13.1 if it doesn't work normally
Make sure to use ODIN 3.13.1 for Oreo or the flash will fail
I will flash the latest android 6 with BTU CSC and then i will go further to 7 or 8 via OTA. Fingers crossed!

Why not just flash 8.0 BTU? Save a lot of time and problems that come with upgrades, anyway changing to 6.0 BTU you will still have to factory reset and use CSC so it makes no difference
Is BTU also compatible with S7 Edge?
Hi
I want to update my SM-G920i to the latest ROM recently issued for some South American countries.
I have an Australian version and its latest ROM was FRD4 with security patch to March 2018. Whereas the latest Uruguayan ROM is FRF4 with security patch to August 2018.
But I want to retain my Australian customisation including the ability to use Samsung Pay with local banks.
I'm looking at the possibility of mixing the latest South American {say the Uruguay (Claro) version} AP, BL, and CP files with an Australian (say Australian XSA) CSC or HOME_CSC file.
Is this possible, particularly without tripping Knox?
I've searched the XDA forums and Google, and only fountd that it was okay for earlier Samsung Galaxys.
Grateful for any advice
Respectful bump ?
Yes - you can mix AP, BL, and CP files with a different CSC!
I have been able to answer my own question!
In short - YES - You can mix AP, BL, and CP files with a different CSC. At least for the SM-G920I version of the S6.
A non-carrier provisioned version of Galaxy S6 in Australia uses XSA firmware.
Samsung last update the XSA version with G920IDVU4FRD3 firmware with a build date of 19 April 2018 and Security Patch Level: 01 March 2018.
The most recent and possibly last S6 firmware is provided for Uruguay (Caro) {CTU} and is called G920IDVU4FRG1 dated 24 July 2018 with Security Patch Level: 01 August 2018.
That's 3 build versions and 5 monthly security patch levels ahead of the latest XSA firmware!
I have a spare S6 with a smashed screen so I have no worries about experimenting.
I downloaded both versions from IMEI.info. I used this website because it provides separate AP, BL, CP and CSC files.
Using Odin v 3.12.3, I loaded the CTU AP, BL, and CP files and the XSA CSC file, crossed my fingers, and 'Start'.
The update ran without a hitch.
I now have an XSA-branded S6 with latest firmware and security patches.
Knox has not tripped, Samsung Pay comes up without any warning, and VoLTE and VoWifi work fine (using Aldimobile over the Telstra network).
I'm very happy because this gives a new lease of life on my primary S6.
I bought a new S7 (G930F) at ebay. When it arrived i wanted to update to the newest firmware, but i got an error notification.
I contacted Samsung and they told me to send it in.
They checked it and told me, that they are not willing to help because the phone is flashed with a wrong firmware. I bought it as a new device. This is unpleasant.
The seller doesn't answer my messages, so i thought maybe i can flash a new firmware by myself. The actual firmware is working but it is outdated. (1. August 2018)
But how can i find out which firmware is correct for this phone? How to say if it is exynos or snapdragon?
The phone information

Kernel: 3.18.71-14274519 [email protected] #1
Basisband: G930FFXXU7CRH2
Android 8.0.0
Samsung Experience: 9.0
I would like to flash the latest firmware and i want to use the phone in germany. Can somebody identify the correct firmware?
Thanks a lot
What does the phone say in download mode? The ROM can be modified to lie about the model and firmware, but download mode will tell you the truth.
If download mode says it's a G930F then it's Exynos, if it says G930U/V/T/A then it's Snapdragon.
If it is a G930F then good news is you can just flash whatever G930F firmware you want over top what's on it. If it's Snapdragon then you're a bit stuffed, you can't flash Exynos firmware onto Snapdragon.
For updating it if it is G930F my recommendation would be to find out the region code for your device, e.g. from here https://updato.com/firmware-archive...act=1&r=DBT,XEG,DCO,DDE,VIA,DTM,VD2&v=&rpp=15 then download the firmware using that region code with SamFirm tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Download Mode says SM-G930V
I'm doomed
Yep that's a common scam. If you can't return to seller the next best thing would be to flash the G930U firmware, which is the generic unlocked firmware for Snapdragon.
It won't give you the equivalent experience, but it will remove any bloat and give you a carrier unlocked phone experience.
You can use the same methods I mentioned to get your hands on the latest G930U firmware and update the device, but you may need this specific Odin version to flash G930U over G930V https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
Thanks. Does TMK, TFN, TMB,... make a difference when the phone is used in germany?
Should i flash all 5 files:?:
AP
BL
CP
CSC
Home
I tried and my result is: Flashing only AP was not enough. Flashing all 5 worked fine for me. I chose TMK and even LTE is working. Thanks a lot.
Glad its working, for reference CSC and Home_CSC are both CSC files and you usually pick just one. Home_CSC doesn't do a data wipe, CSC does.
But when changing from G930V to G930U it's always safest to do the CSC wipe.
