Google dialer - LG V20 Guides, News, & Discussion

For anyone not looking to flash a hacked version of Google dialer, grab the magisk module Google framework.
Then just head to play store and download the app.

This really belongs in the Magisk forums section, it's not specific to our phone.

Actually it's correct right in this fourm.
This is guides news and discussion.
I told fellow LG V20 users that wish for the Google dialer app how to get it with out ever getting into TWRP or using a hacked version.
Sooooo.....yeah.
Next time you want to try to correct someone please do it correctly.

It's the V20 Guides, News & Discussion forum. This process is applicable to any device, I could do the exact same thing on a Pixel or Samsung phone, that's my point. This is a guide for using Magisk modules, not V20-specific software.

Dude just go away. You are not adding anything constructive.
I post here since LG v20 users can see it. Also last I checked, a Google pixel HAS the Google dialer app.
Also you don't have a forum moderator tag.

Or, you could post it in the Magisk forum, where users from all devices and variants would see it, and you'd get more attention from posting it there. No need to get upset about it, I was just giving some advice which WOULD help you get better exposure. There's nothing wrong with what you're doing in your posts and if anything I think more people should be aware of it, I don't want to flash someone elses phone app on my phone and what you said makes it easier to do it properly. The Pixel was an example, hence why I also said Samsung.
And no, I don't have a forum moderator tag. But I also didn't say you MUST NOT post this here. I said this belongs elsewhere.

Didn't work on my h918. Causes a blank screen a few seconds after booting, with a lot of FC. Had to remove the module to get in back.

Sorry to hear that.
It worked on my device, but I found a much better method then what that person created. I don't know what mods you made on your device, but I bet the useless libs that were added is what gave you a conflict.

Just grab the Google dialer framework, flash in twrp, clear data and cache from play store. Then just type in Google Dialer. It will show up.
Go into titanium backup and freeze contacts. Then set default to the Google Dialer app.
Contacts is lg contacts and dial pad rolled into 1. So I suggest getting Google message as well.

updated for a very clean method without any device pacific Libs. This is just the Google dialer framework. Nothing else extra. This is for 7.0 devices.

Agree
I agree with BROKEN that it is in the correct forum. I looked up how to do something on my phone (V20) and got here. Don't know anything about the Magisk thing so I wouldn't have known to even go that forum.

[Q] Installing Non Market Apps..

Ok, I am sure folks have asked this before. I have done a search and still can not find a answer. I am wanting the option in my settings that will allow me to download non market apps.
I have rooted the phone and am running the 2.2 custom rom that I got before AT&T released theirs. When I go into setting to the area that should have the option to allow non market apps, it is not there.
I thought that once you rooted and installed the custom rom, it would give you this option as I know that AT&T blocks this on their firmware / rom.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Obviously you did not do a search and posts like need to be in q&a section. We had this place cleaned up a couple days ago to rid the general of threads like this.

You can use this to root, but then also to allow NM Apps. Real simple, just have to have the drivers installed on your computer.
Here's a link for you SuperOneClick

First, This is my first time on this paticular website so knowing the exact area to post is not always the easiest as all forums are different.
Second, I am a member of different tech type forums out there and I would never slam someone like you are doing. The purpose of forums like this is to help people and not to see how big of a "****" you can be to someone.
You should keep in mind that you may need help someday on a product you have and you go online to get a answer and that person acts the way you did and see how you like it.
I have even ran forums before and have kicked people off that acted in this manner.... Just be careful on who you piss off.

Droid Explorer works, too
I believe Astro File Manager also has this ability in the Preferences section..
There's no option, it just installs. There is an option in 2.3 though.

It is due to att removing the option for their devices. If att release a 2.3.3 update you can be sure that it will be removed from there as well. The reason you see it now is that att is the only one that does it and we are working with the euro version
I understand. Every custom rom I've seen just installs even though the option is not there.

EZ-UNLOCK - device unknown

Has anyone experienced this with the EZ-UNLOCK APP? i have used it before and now even though i get that quick flashing pop-up that says the device has been successfully unlocked and says that the device status is "unknown" instead of "unlocked" like it did before.
Several people have posted similar comments in the app review of the app in the playstore but i wanted to know if anyone here has had that happened and if its safe to flash away. The last thing i want to do is flash a ROM and not have my bootloader really unlocked. Thanks

I just joined this community and I haven't searched, but I would bet my first born son that there is a post here regarding this issue already.
ALSO, if you would have spent any time reading about the app in the play store you would have seen this:
" v1.4 hotfix for last issue. Bootloader checking is disabled for the time being, so all you will see is UNKNOWN for the status. Fret not, as unlocking and relocking are still working. Sorry about all this, will rectify ASAP. I recommend using 1.2 from the Rootzwiki linked thread in the description."
Do you know what that's from? The very first sentence in the "what's new" section of the play store listing.

First of all when you start a thread if gives you threads and post about similar headings. There were 4 post on issues with EZ-Unlock and i read them all. They all described difference issues like black screens and force closes. I then did a quick google search and went to the playstore link on the web and did not see this sentence that you are talking about.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mmmeff.ez.unlock&hl=en
But thank you for resisting the urge to be an ass and just answering the question.
Use version 1.2. Do not use the version from the Play Store (for now).

[Suggestion for Rules] Identify users' posts

I am going to receive my Nexus 7 in couple of days and I have started reading the respective forums. I got scared when I saw one of the threads has more than 1000 pages i.e. more than 10,000 posts I have to read to avoid falling on others' mistakes or to avoid repeating a question.
With such thread it is next to impossible to read it and keep the device in the safe side from mistakes which were faced by other users.
Therefore, I would suggest if there is a general Rule in all replies or posts to mention the word [Problem] in the starting of any post.
If this will be followed, it will be easier for users to search for the problems which others faced in a particular thread for a ROM, app, mod, etc...
Hope my idea is clear.
Or just Google search your problem and append xda and your device at the end of the query

The last pages of kernel, rom and tweak releases contain and cover the biggest parts of what's new and what could happen. You're never alone with a problem. Some development sub forums have guides for nearly everything.
Looks the idea isn't good. Anyways it was just and idea.

Hi, I have a cdma based android phone. The model is zte v6700. Purchased yesterday for my dad who had cdma sim. He finds difficult to swipe and answer call. In my note 2 I've installed big screen ID, which allow me to tap to answer or decline. I tried installing this app and still doesn't work. Is there any way to get tap to answer instead of swiping up to accept.

Learn to search before coming here to ask such a simple question that can be answered with a simple Google search for:
"Apps to uninstall apps"
There are MANY apps to do this, take your pick.
Next time SEARCH for YOURSELF

No, it's in the forum rules to search before posting.
You obviously didn't read the rules and you obviously didn't try searching first, otherwise you would have easily found the answer yourself.
I guess there is always those few out there that have to be lazy dumb asses, you must be one of them.
If you used the search terms I gave you then you would find MANY apps to do what you asked. And more than a few of them are sure to work for you.
And you can't just remove all or most of the pre-installed apps. You've got to choose carefully which ones to get rid of or you'll render your device inoperable. If you do some research on that you would learn that too.
You must be one of those that doesn't know how to search and just assumes you can do things without making sure it's safe first and then deals with their mistakes after the fact instead of being smart and learning about it first to keep those mistakes from happening.
