EZ-UNLOCK - device unknown - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Has anyone experienced this with the EZ-UNLOCK APP? i have used it before and now even though i get that quick flashing pop-up that says the device has been successfully unlocked and says that the device status is "unknown" instead of "unlocked" like it did before.
Several people have posted similar comments in the app review of the app in the playstore but i wanted to know if anyone here has had that happened and if its safe to flash away. The last thing i want to do is flash a ROM and not have my bootloader really unlocked. Thanks

I just joined this community and I haven't searched, but I would bet my first born son that there is a post here regarding this issue already.
ALSO, if you would have spent any time reading about the app in the play store you would have seen this:
" v1.4 hotfix for last issue. Bootloader checking is disabled for the time being, so all you will see is UNKNOWN for the status. Fret not, as unlocking and relocking are still working. Sorry about all this, will rectify ASAP. I recommend using 1.2 from the Rootzwiki linked thread in the description."
Do you know what that's from? The very first sentence in the "what's new" section of the play store listing.

First of all when you start a thread if gives you threads and post about similar headings. There were 4 post on issues with EZ-Unlock and i read them all. They all described difference issues like black screens and force closes. I then did a quick google search and went to the playstore link on the web and did not see this sentence that you are talking about.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mmmeff.ez.unlock&hl=en
But thank you for resisting the urge to be an ass and just answering the question.

Use version 1.2. Do not use the version from the Play Store (for now).

paid apps not showing in market

Sorry if its posted I haven't been able to figure it out. After man's unlocking paid apps don't show up in the market. There isn't even a paid apps section. I can't seem to figure it out. Any known fixes? Thanks a lot and sorry again if its somewhere obvious.

i cant be the only one this has happened to
trying to keep this on the front page, still an issue after multiple roms
Weird. I had that issue right after I rooted where only some protected apps would show but after I flashed damage control I got them all back

thread doesn't belong in development section, that's probably why nobody's answering. put it in the Q&A section.
but try RUUing and rerooting.
Sorry missed OP's posting of flashing multiple roms
I cant catch a break, i figured the ruu would work as well, however every time i get to the part where it actually goes to update, it says waiting for bootloader, and then counts until it gives me error 171.
This is re god damn diculous. RUU flash and i still dont have paid apps at all.
WTF

[Q] Installing Non Market Apps..

Ok, I am sure folks have asked this before. I have done a search and still can not find a answer. I am wanting the option in my settings that will allow me to download non market apps.
I have rooted the phone and am running the 2.2 custom rom that I got before AT&T released theirs. When I go into setting to the area that should have the option to allow non market apps, it is not there.
I thought that once you rooted and installed the custom rom, it would give you this option as I know that AT&T blocks this on their firmware / rom.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Obviously you did not do a search and posts like need to be in q&a section. We had this place cleaned up a couple days ago to rid the general of threads like this.

You can use this to root, but then also to allow NM Apps. Real simple, just have to have the drivers installed on your computer.

First, This is my first time on this paticular website so knowing the exact area to post is not always the easiest as all forums are different.
Second, I am a member of different tech type forums out there and I would never slam someone like you are doing. The purpose of forums like this is to help people and not to see how big of a "****" you can be to someone.
You should keep in mind that you may need help someday on a product you have and you go online to get a answer and that person acts the way you did and see how you like it.
I have even ran forums before and have kicked people off that acted in this manner.... Just be careful on who you piss off.

It is due to att removing the option for their devices. If att release a 2.3.3 update you can be sure that it will be removed from there as well. The reason you see it now is that att is the only one that does it and we are working with the euro version
I understand. Every custom rom I've seen just installs even though the option is not there.

Ok so first off, sorry if this is in the wrong section, please correct me as im kinda new. Also, I have searched the thread and couldnt find anything on this but if this is a double post, im sorry.
Now as of right now, the galaxy s4 google edition is still just a rumor. If it turns out to be real, and the hardware is the same as the att version, is there any way we could get the odin image, decompile it, put the att modem and bootloader in, then flash it? Would it work?

Yeah I saw this but it didnt exactly duscuss what im trying to here. What I would loke to know is if we could get the odin image and port it to the att version without having to unlock the bootloader or anything. Just flash it through odin as if it were a stock image.

Yeah in that other thread, they are linking to the definition on "****!" needless to say it's way off topic. I too am wondering the same. Being that there are no hardware differences, I don't see it being a problem to share Roms. It's already gonna support AT&T and T Mobile frequencies, so I think it will be a share great between the different models!

He's talking about using the information to unlock the bootloader for the SGS4 ATT version.
I think we'll just have to sit tight and see what the developers dig up and figure out.

To be honest, it all depends on which bootloader the Google version comes with. AT&T bootloader is locked but T-Mobile is unlocked. Now I don't know a lot about bootloaders so please correct me, but if the Google version comes unlocked, it would most likely be the same as the T-Mobile one. I know for a fact using a T-Mobile stock ROM through ODIN on an AT&T S4 does not work. So until the bootloader is unlocked you won't be able to flash the Google stock ROM.
Supporting both AT&T and T-Mobile networks simply means it will work on both frequencies of LTE service. This has nothing to do with the bootloader because unlocking the phone from AT&T doesn't unlock the bootloader but the phone will work on the T-Mobile network.

He specifically said using the AT&T bootloader. I don't think he's trying to unlock the bootloader this way, I just think he's trying to run stock Android using the same technique for getting out of a recovery loop (flashing stock ROM through ODIN). Without an unlocked bootloader this won't be possible because the ROM won't flash.

Unbelievable. why are we doing this? there are many threads on this...PLEASE PEOPLE! If you are new, I understand, but it is not hard to scroll down a few pages and see same topics that you can input your opinions. The G4 forums are not HUGE yet, real easy, just look.
I'll say it again before someone else has too, NO IT WILL NOT UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER! Bootloader encryption is deep and the kernel must be signed by AT&T in order to load. The Google GS4 is OBVIOUSLY NOT going to have the same bootloader since they are not AT&T, simple as that. Flash your GS4 with a Google ROM and Kernel and you will be bricked and or it just won't even flash.
NOW PLEASE STOP ASKING!
Jesus people, he's asking about the possibility of converting our phones into the Google Edition with an Odin flash. Where the hell did this get misconstrued as asking if it will unlock his bootloader? Take a couple benadryl and get off the computer for an hour. When I was brand new here, I sorta thought the same way. The things is though, I read every single thread and post about my phone. I didn't ask a question that was already answered ten times over. That's where noobs go wrong. They don't read. They're (often times) too lazy to do any of their own foot-work to try and solve their problem or answer their question. It's not so much people being pompous as it's devs and members are just tired of the same old thing over and over again. This has been going on long before I was a member.
There was a dev that made ROMs for my old phone. They were my favorite! You know what happened? That dev got tired of people posting the same questions and flooding his inbox with the same crap. So, because of lazy people, myself and everyone else that used his ROMs suffered. That's when I stopped caring about how some people respond to others. Spend a few years here and I think you'll have a better understanding of that.

There's a difference between someone starting a new thread and people flooding one particular dev. Besides, the issue here was unique (and apparently some "experienced" people still aren't grokking why).
People do need to chill out about this sort of thing. Besides, the search function is kind of ****ty and is not working half the time, so cut people some slack if there's some overlap. It's not going to hurt you.

Removing Google Now results

As most of you know, IB Times and Christian Post are the absolute worst sources for Android news. They post completely fictitious rumors without any sources and without mentioning that the past 1010928 rumors they posted were wrong. I made the mistake of clicking on a few of these stories, so for a few months, I've gotten nearly daily notifications in Google Now about Nexus articles posted on these websites. I want to remove these websites from my Google Now completely.
I did some research on how to do this, and Google said to click the menu button on the individual notification inside of Google Now and I can request that no more results from that website be displayed. However, that's not a choice. Instead, I have the option of whether or not to continue to receive articles relevant to the Nexus devices. I do want to receive articles about Nexus devices, just not from these sources.
Can anyone tell me how to remove notifications from specific websites without removing notifications for the subject of the articles? Thanks in advance. Also, I wasn't sure if this went in Q&A or Apps & Themes, so I made a judgment call and went with the Q&A forum. Apologies if it should have gone elsewhere.

I'll try that and see if it works. I thought of it as a possible solution, but figured I'd see if there was an easier way first. Thanks.
Edit: Ok, so I tried that, but it can't be the solution. Apparently I had already done this for both Christian Post and IB Times, and the only history results I had were three IB Times results from the past month where I clicked the link based on the headline without looking at the source first. All of the earlier IB Times visits and all of the Christian Post visits were gone. However, I received a Christian Post notification as recently as two days ago.

Agreed. I like the automatic nature of GN, but I would love more control over what pops up. Regarding those two websites, I'm sure they're just click bait. They always pop up whenever you search any rumors, so they get a ton of clicks for people to view ads. I doubt they care what they post, as long as people get them ad money.
dont you get that three buttons menu option at the right top corner of the card? i think you can remove the updates from there. atleast it shows me that option from some other sites that i visit on google.

[CLUELESS NOOB] Possibly unlocked bootloader VZW Retail S5?

Hello folks,
I've rooted my S5 (retail version) using towelroot (thanks geohot), installed busy box and loaded Android Tuner.
I've made some changes to build.prop, just presets available in Android Tuner, and I froze (disabled) most of the Samsung and Verizon bloatware.
I did this a few days ago every thing worked as expected, rebooted a few times and everything appeared just like it was just from the factory. This morning I reboot and the initial Samsung logo appears but it has a unlocked padlock icon and says "CUSTOM".
I wasn't looking to even try and unlock the bootloader, but I have no idea what I even did to trigger this unlocked custom logo. I put the phone into download mode, and there was no KNOX counter, and Reactivation Lock read as off.
My questions are the following:
1) What the heck could I have done that triggered the unlocked padlock icon and "CUSTOM" on the initial boot screen? Was it just changing build.prop entries? Did freezing the Knox apps trigger this? What exactly does it mean that Reactivation Lock is off on the Odin download screen?
2) How can I check to see if the bootloader is locked or unlocked without risking the possibility of bricking my phone?
3) If by dumb luck I unlocked my bootloader (highly doubtful I did), what should I look for in the phones logs to help identify what I did so we can all unlock our bootloader?
I don't think this will amount to anything, but why not investigate it.
Thanks,
Frank
Reason to be doubtful the bootloader is unlocked:
"Qualcomm securboot: enabled" on the Odin download screen.
*SIGH*
This has been covered numerous times in other threads. The word custom and the unlocked padlock simply mean something was changed in your system to make it something other than official or right out of the box condition. Your changes to the build.prop and the bloatware you froze likely triggered the custom and unlocked padlock.
Sorry to make ya sigh over this, but tapatalk doesn't exactly make pertinent search results pop out.
Edit: I should just learn how to make better use of tapatalk. Thought I searching through a specific thread, but I was in the main board still when searching and not in a thread. I'm sorry to take frustrations out on ya for the sigh.
Driving a tour bus, I don't have a whole lot of time to comb through 3,000 posts in a thread looking for specific info, which is why I posed the questions.
Mods feel free to close this up since it appears that this won't lead anywhere.

If you looked at the sticky, everything is in that one post. If unlocking the bootloader would be as easy as editing a simple text file I'm sure it would've been found months ago

Alright OP got his question answered no need for everyone flooding in saying to use the search bar.

They've been taught to do so by certain people on here so, they follow the lead. That's how society works. I just wish that certain people setting examples would stop, so maybe it will stop...
Mira Sorvino rocks!
