I have Sm j727s and I want to root it with cf auto root. And it says I have to unlock bootloader. How can I do that?
It's a common problem.
These phones have the bootloader locked by the carrier somehow that we can't access it and toggle the ability to turn the bootloader on or off so it can be removed and rooted.... Sigh... I've worked so hard towards figuring this out for two weeks. Looking non freaking stop man. I just don't think it's possible. Let me know if you figure it out or w.e.

hi everyone this is my first post on this fourm,so hopefully i got it in the right section.i just bought my first g1 off of an indv on ebay .it say it is unlocked, but i was wanting to know how to you tell if it is just sim unlocked or fully unlock so i have access to hardware to ? because i want to have that access so i can start learning and makeing stuff later also i wanted to know if you can relock the g1 accidently by doing reset or once unlocked is it always unlock ? well thankyou for your time great site .alot of very helpfull info. i should have phone in hand wed ,i cant wait thanks again .
I think by unlocked they mean you can use it with any network.
if you'd like to know if it is rooted, ie you can change things on the phone to some extent, that's a different story.
yes i think the phone is just network unlocked. but wont know till i get it. so i really want to unlock so i have root access ,but till i get the the phone to see what its running r29 ect. but i didnt know if there was a way to tell if i have root access on the phone when i get it ,before i try to use the info ive read on here about gaining root access ,yes i want to be able to change things on it . thankyou for your reply . .
even if you don't have rc29 you can easily downgrade then upgrade to modified rc30 courtesy JesusFreke.
cool thankyou for the info
Ok, finally after all this time, the AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (SM-T217A) can be properly rooted. I have been playing with it since that moment my binaries were finally updated properly. However, several questions remain since i am still learning this stuff.
First, since root it installed, i want to flash a custom recovery, but the problem is that the bootloader is locked, that being the issue that had it unrootable for so long. So a) is there a method using terminal emulator to unlock the bootloader so i can flash a recovery of my choosing or b) is there a way to flash the recovery that bypasses the bootloader.
Second, AT&T decided to make the genius move of also locking the Tab 3's (7.0 variant anyways) native phone and dialer app. The Tab 3 is able to function as a phone, but AT&T really made a mess by locking up, and over bloating the hell out of this device.
Third. I want to install the XFramework, but read that there can be issues with that and locked bootloaders. Help please, i really don't want to shoot brick my tablet. There are more questions, so ill just add to this thread later if anyone else can help me fix these issues
How did you root it ? Do you have instructions ? Also looking for answer to boot loader myself.
Thanks
Steve
I have a MetroPCS Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. Yesterday I successfully rooted my new toy and restarted my phone. I then got a "Custom binary is locked by FRP" message and couldn't get in my phone so I Odined the stock firmware and I'm able to use it now. However, I would really like to root my phone. I went into Dev Options and enabled OEM unlock. I want to root but I don't want to get that FRP mess again. Do you guys know how I can root without locking my phone again? Thanks.
I need to know if there are any solutions on how to crack this sgs7 to gain root access. If not now, then does anyone (like the top notch coders that are totally in depth with hacking phones etc) know if it'll be made possible to root. I'd absolutely love to gain root access on this phone. Im sure a lot of people are fuming right now.. As am. I. Any help will he greatly appreciated on this subject
You can learn all you need to know in the AT&T AND T-mobile S7 and S7 Edge forums. They have active discussions going about the state of the bootloader.
Hi

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that someone did try kingoroot and it did not work.
Supposedly someone has got root, but I guess we're still waiting for confirmation from a reputable dev.
Any word about hellsgod91? About root?
dude chill out. when and if the root comes out you'll know about it. trust me.
I apologize in advance for my ignorance on the subject matter at hand, however, I lost many pictures on my S7 (stored to the internal memory of the phone) and have been diligently attempting to recover them since Friday. Is it possible to recover them without the root? I have tried a number of software (rooting and recovery) and nothing has worked.... I started researching a few things and found the locked bootlander to be the reason it will not root and recover? Is this correct and if so, is there any possible way around this? I am truly shocked that I haven't bricked my phone yet with all I have tried. My email is [email protected] should anyone have any suggestions or valuable help. I am desperate!
I wish someone would just create an app that can unlock bootloader and such models such as the SM-G930P SGS7. Patience.. Yes I know.
I was reading through and people say the OEM was locked. Has anyone found a work around to this I want to get this phone for the mod friendliness however if the OEM unlocking is locked it would be impossible. Any work around? I really want to have access to hotspot with no issues
Not currently. I don't have the phone yet, ordered Friday probably won't be getting it til Monday. If it seems impossible to root, I'll trade it in for the note 10+.
Unfortunately not. You either have to meet Sprints requirements for them to unlock it (phone paid in full and active for 60 days or more on their network) or we have to wait and see if an amazing devs can help us out.
Wait does that mean that sprint will actually unlock the phone for you? If they do, is root possible or would someone still have to develop something for it?

Pretty sure the post about Sprint unlocking the device is confusing SIM unlock with bootloader unlock. Which of course are 2 very different things. I've never heard of carriers having anything to do with unlocking the bootloader. But unlocking the SIM, yes (they have to by law now).
Otherwise, the requirements stated would not be that hard to meet, and plenty of folks would already be unlocking their Sprint 7 Pro bootloaders.
Unlocking the bootloader is the main barrier to root. I don't see why (with an unlocked bootloader) you couldn't just root with one of the existing methods (flash patched boot img with fastboot, or boot TWRP and flash Magisk) and no real development would be needed. But it's that locked bootloader that is the kicker!
So is there any no root workaround for use of the native hotspot on the sprint version of this device?
Or would we just have to use an app?
