case from heaven needed - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Accessories

Does anyone know if there is a case on the market that will allow wireless charging, magnetic holder and a kickstand?

Samsung rugged cover maybe? Or Spigen tough armor?

Looks good, I think I'm gonna order this. What are the exterior sides like on the case? Is it smooth and grippy? I ask since I don't like sharp edges on cases.

It's kinda weird, the sides and back are smooth for sure. The sides are grippy, kinda a soft rubber feel. The back has ridges that are plenty grippy in the hand, but slides a little bit on a hard flat surface.

The back has ripples so grippy in hand but not grippy on uneven flat surfaces. The sides are smooth but grippy. It conforms to the curvy screen and adds a comfortable amount of width to the phone making it better to hold.

I have the Speck and it doesnt really add any bulk. Why get a cheap case that will not really protect it from drops?
Yep, hit up Amazon and see for yourself, just search Atrix 2 case and see all the results you get.
my wife was looking for cases for her A2 that she'll be getting soon and there aren't as many cases as we hoped. Hopefully more will come, over time.
I got the TPU case on Amazon. Very happy. Especially for 9 bucks.

Belt Clip
If anyone spots a belt clip let me know. I'm not going with a case with a clip (I've always had defenders) but rather just a belt clip. I can't believe I can't find one
i just got my tpu case in from the link above in matte black it is pretty awesome. it came with a screen protector that doesn't fit but it is better than nothing until i the one that i ordered in.
More about the case:
-so i said i ordered the matte black version of the case, and yes it is matte black but some of it is glossy. I actually like it this way because if you look at the screen, the edges of the case are glossy with blend in with the phone and if you flip it over it is matte black.
-it is a pretty snug fit and doesn't seem like it is going to move.
-almost all the buttons have a cut out except for the volume which i find a little strange because i would have liked it to be uniform, and there is a cutout for both of the microphones on the top and bottom.
overall for 9 bucks i am extremely happy with it and it even came a day early too!

Maybe you will have to throw your phone at someone and that is why you need a more protective case as well.

The Otterbox Defender has a clip. I can't offer any opinion on it though. I bought the Otterbox Commuter, which is not as heavy duty and doesn't have a clip. I like it, my only complaint is that the edges and corners attract a lot of lint.

So i said that it is like two toned. the matte black part is really smooth actually. the glossy part is alittle stickier but i haven't had any problems with linkt sticking to the case. considering the size of the phone is does slip in and out of my pocket really well.

I have the same case. Slides out of pockets smooth as silk. No lint problems. It doesn't have that "sticky" rubber feel too it like the otterbox stuff does.
You seriously won't find anything nicer for double the money. It's a great case. Looks like they've added "high gloss transparent" also now to the original matte black and smoke cases.
Ya I saw that too. I like the matte personally. If you want to see the phone itself then the transparent ones aren't too bad but might have a different feel to it. The matte feels smooth but alittle tacky too.

Adding More Grip

Hey all,
Has anyone tried roughing the back of their phone a little bit? I'm trying to think of something to give it a bit more texture and grip. I do have a case for my phone but I really like the feeling and look of the phone naked.
Any thoughts?
Rubberized back cover?

Cruzer Lite's cases aren't too bad either. They don't add much to the thickness of the device and they are reasonably good to look at. However, if I could use my phone without a case and be confident of not scratching/dropping it, I'd go that route.
Another vote for Rock Quicksand...love mine. :good: The phone actually feels too small when I take it off now. And way too slick.
Using the Rearth Ringke Slim case and has a really nice feel to it, and it's super thin.

Can you post a couple of pictures? I have ever the sgp ultra thin and I live it but it is still a Little slippery. But I don't want anything much thicker than the sgp

I just got the official Samsung Cool Vent case, and I love it. It's a rubber-y plastic that gives the phone great grip, and you can stick a coin (or two credit cards) in the back for an impromptu kickstand. It covers the back and front/bottom, rather than the sides, so it doesn't cover the volume/power buttons and doesn't make the phone any wider. The only con is that the bump on the back prevents the phone from laying totally flat on a table, which bothers some people, i think it's fine. The bump also gives you something to grip with your fingers.

Picked it up from MobileFun.com, seems there aren't many places yet selling it in the US.
Rock Quicksand case is absolutely amazing!
For $10 I wasn't expecting much; but immediately when I opened up the packaging I was impressed. The case feels rock solid, and barely adds any weight to the phone.
However, if you are looking for full protection this case is definitely not for you.
I don't want to make myself sound old (I am only 22), but I'm at the stage in my life that I can be fairly confident that I will not drop the phone and will not be entering any situations (ie., jumping off my bike into the woods) that I will not be able prepare for and take extra precautions with the phone.

+1. Just enough grip yet it slides easily into and out of my pocket.
I bought a sheet of this eGrips stuff and cut it custom for every device that i don't want to use a full case on. One side is adhesive and the other side is the grippy side that you hold. egrips

that was my idea too! if one would prefer to run a naked phone you could get one of those clear body skins....the ones that are like the screen protector material but they cover the back cover and sides too, and then see if skateboard grip tape will stick to that stuff, giving you extremely minimal protection with maximum grip and would be thinner than any case like the Rock or other slim cases and less noticeable too, that way if you dont like it you simply peel the skin off since the grip tape is stuck to it, not your phone
Soda blasting or glass beading it would give it a uniform rough finish with soda being smoother and glass being rougher.

I agree, The X-doria bumper is really bulky.
Copied from the accessories thread
I ordered 2 bumpers for my Xperia Z and both arrived last week. I'll do a short review of both in case anyone is in the market for a decent bumper.
Black aluminium bumper http://amzn.to/13xdOSn
There are quite a few of these being sold under different brands and I suspect they all come from the same manufacturer since the photos all look identical. It comes in 2 parts, you set your XZ into the front and slide the back on. The inside is lined with soft rubber for protection. It looks sleek and stylish and doesn't add much bulk, however I don't think it would offer great drop protection. The edges feel a little sharp when held against my ear but overall the bumper feels great in the hand. The ports (especially audio) are a bit difficult to access but not impossible. The volume buttons seemed a little difficult to press at first but I soon got used to it.
Roxfit bumper http://amzn.to/11weE0g
This is supposedly officially endorsed by Sony. It comes in nice packaging with a screen and back protector (which I haven't tried). The bumper has glossy black edges with a clear centre and has a couple of logos. It feels rubbery and provides great grip. It adds quite a lot of bulk which should offer great drop protection, this also makes the edge of the screen a bit difficult to access when using one handed. Ports are relatively easy to access.
Personally I prefer the aluminium bumper as it looks better, doesn't add much bulk and the phone is easier to use than with the Roxfit.
I got Metal Slim, Aluminium Bumper, Roxfit Bumper & Poetic Bumper.... here's some comments.
Metal Slim - actually it's not really slim, I used 1 days then drop it.
Aluminium bumper - it damaged by Xperia Z after dropped from table
Roxfit bumper - a little bit soft and slim
Poetic bumper - just like Roxfit but more colorful

Best protection for least bulk

I'm looking for a good bumper, not a full case, just a bumper. I think that's the best balance of drop protection for added bulk.
My reasoning is that if I drop my phone, the most likely thing to break (and most expensive to fix) will be the screen. Even in high-performance cases like the Otterbox Commuter, the only thing protecting the screen is the lip. I don't care about all that protection on the back of the phone; I can easily replace the battery cover if it gets damaged and if a lip is good enough to protect the screen, it should be good enough to protect the back.
This leads me to think that the most important part of drop-protection is the lip and a high-quality bumper with a good, thick, shock-absorbent lip will have the best drop-protection/bulk ratio. I think it would give much better protection than the thin cases with minimal lips like the SGP Slim Armor.
Are there any bumpers like that out there? What does everyone recommend? Right now I'm leaning toward getting the Roocase Bumper and adding a high-quality battery cover like oddspec did here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42813168#post42813168
I've seen a lot of posts about aluminum bumpers but it seems to me that they wouldn't add any screen protection. If your phone falls face-down, the screen will just slam against the hard aluminum which isn't an improvement. Can someone with one comment?
I'm interested in any comments on my thinking as well as bumper recommendations. I used an Otterbox Commuter on my last phone and it works very well but after staring at it, I can't help thinking that there's a more efficient way to get the actual level of protection I need.
Thanks, everyone.
I always recommend the UAG case, it's not bulky and it is great for protection. I've dropped my S4 so many times and not a scratch on it.

UAG all day. Bumpers imo make the phone feel way too wide. They also tend to tear at the charging ports when there is less material. So that leaves aluminum bumpers only. Curious about how much weight a metal bumper would add.... Uag is feather light.

I would a little bit, but not a lot. Think about the karate guy that breaks boards... He hits hard, they all break. He hits not quite as hard... and breaks only 3 of the 5 boards.... you get the idea. The difference is the screen cover "board" is very thin.

Are there any "grippy" cases out there yet?

I am coming from a Pixel 2XL and I was using a Pitaka carbon fiber case for the past year. That was one of the best cases I have ever used. The carbon fiber seemed to have a grippy or rubber coating over the case and I never dropped that thing. The TPU cases that claim to have grip are still nothing like what the Pitaka case had. I have reached out to Pitaka and it sounds like they won't be making a case for the Pixel anymore. Bummer.
If you're looking for a slim, non-tpu case check out the Spigen Thin Fit. I had one on my LG G7 and got one for my Pixel 4. No problems with grip and definitely better than a TPU or glossy plastic case that gets slippery when you're wet, sweating, or have greasy fingers or something.

The grip on the thin fit is good, but beware that the edges stick up past the screen, and they're sharp. They make using gestures really annoying. I stopped using mine for that reason. They didn't think that one through for the Pixel 4.

Yeah, I haven't had that issue really, I don't use the gestures too often, but I can see where you're coming from. I'm hoping they release a Thin Fit 360 in the future, which would correct this issue entirely (at the expense of having a two-piece case design). I had it on my G7 and it was perfect. The only problems I see with that type of case now are they hug the outside of the screen just a tiny bit and tempered glass screen protectors can interfere with installation.
I'm using the black Speck Presidio Grip case. Very grippy, doesn't slide easily on slick surfaces, good drop protection, and not bulky at all.

Take a look at the imak TPU cases. They have a Metal Black (rubbery) and a rough texture one. I use the Metal Black one on my Pixel 1 and it has lasted almost 2 years. Good grip even for the non rough one, but has started to peel after 2 years. No biggie, it's $5.
It's on Aliexpress, I may try out the rough one this time as well when I get my 4.

My Dbrand Grip case came in last week. I put a orange carbon fiber skin on the back so I could remember that I have the orange Pixel 4 XL. So far, so good. I haven't got anywhere near dropping it. I had the fabric case from Google before. It was a fine case but it attracted stains.
using moment photo case and yes the sides are grippy like the pixel 4's sides.
If I remember I'll report back when my Dbrand case arrives, it is literally called 'grip' but who knows if it is nicer than the Spigen armor with kickstand, it is quite grippy.
ESR cases are very grippy and also has a kickstand
I'm actually loving my moment case for the 4XL, the walnut wood really sets it off, the inside has soft suede like material to keep it from scratching. I used to have the pitaka on my 2XL and forced it on the 3XL, it was way slimmer. But I've come to accept a little extra bulk for protection and the ability to add lenses is really special, it actually transforms the ability of the already fantastic camera.
Anyone know of a case similar to the ones from smartish? The kung fu grip cases have a rough outer edge and have a grip to them that i like very much. Only for iphones though. Anything similar maybe?
I had purchased a case from the Google store with my phone since I was so pumped about it. It was 40 bucks that I never should have spent. Their case is a piece of molded cardboard wrapped in felt. There wasn't even any protection on the bottom. Not only that, but the case was really slippery; always felt like it was going to slide out of my hands.
So, I purchased a Spigen Tough Armor case from Amazon and could not be more pleased. It fits better (still not as grippy as I'd like) and feels much more durable.
Dbrand has sale running .. Grip case $15 ..
