Mx player playing web link issue m3u - MX Player

Hi I have a link from a website that I want to make into a shortcut file that I can play in mx player android. When I paste the link into "network stream" everything runs perfectly but when I create a txt file with the link and change the extension of the file to .m3u or .m3u8, the file plays but I can't skip around the video. So the text document would have the following in it
Http://www.youtube.com/video.mp4
I ran the file in the VLC app on android and I can skip around the track so must be mx player Anyone have a fix or better option to do what I'm doing Thanks

Voice Command - Default Player Problem

I am using Voice Command 1.5 for PPC (O2 XDA IIs) and recently had to do a re-install. This time I put BetaPlayer on before Voice Command and now BetaPlayer activates when I ask it to play a music track. Previously the Windows Media Player would play the music and I cannot figure out how to change the default player for Voice Command!
Of note - It is not MP3 file associations as this still points to Media Player not Beta Player (Clicking on an MP3 brings up Media Player). Also, when I state "Next Track" with Media Player active it changes track ..... very confusing!
I feel that the activation of Media Player is contained in some form of ini file for Voice Command as I have searched the registry for some link to Voice Command and Media Player but been unable to locate this. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful.....
Found it!
It isn't .mp3 file associations it is .asx association (Playlist).
A simple edit of the registry with PHM Registry Editor soon fixed the problem!
I had the same problem, but my other offending player was mortplayer..
now this solution may work for you so here goes.
1....i uninstalled mort player first because mvcommand tried to call each time i tried to call an artist mp3 file.
when yo try to use mvcommand again to call the artist, an error "voice command.asx" would be displayed. mvcommand actually places this file in a temp directory on your pda's memory.
2.......i then used Gsfinder+ a freeware file explorer program to associate the file asx with "windows media player file" by doing a file open... choose program method,
3 now open the asx file, this will load the media player...close it
and try the command to load an artist from mvcommand.
it worked for me.
if your probblem is related to video files the same procedure may work for that too, but am not sure if it will save an wmv or avi file to the temp directory.
Good luck

[Feature request] SMB Authentication

As I know, MX Player supports SMB if started from programs like ES Explorer. But today i had to deal with network share, that requires authentication. MX didn't asked me about credentials, but instead failed to open file. Hence my feature request: add SMB authentication.

MX Player doesn't support network shares directly. As you said other apps can forward the url to MX Player. So that it can be played. I am using MX Player to play videos from "Protected" network shares. But, never had an issue.
Can you collect the logs immediately after playing the file & upload here.?

Starting MX from ES Explorer (failed): View attachment report_2015-04-10_082750.zip
Pasting link manually in to Network stream (second half of the log, failed): View attachment report_2015-04-10_083233.zip
Starting MX from com.rhmsoft.fm (succesfull): View attachment report_2015-04-10_083952.zip
Looks like first failed attempt can be due a bug on ES Explorer side.
Initializing reproduction from ES Explorer or DS Files works, but on my smartphone and on my Minix android media station the experience is worse than MX file browser.
For instance MX integrated file browser would:
- remember last file played or what's new and what's not
- be easily browsed with a tv remote
- easily allow to delete watched files
- remember last position of a movie to resume
therefore it would be very nice to add SMB folders to the interface folders!

SMB support is already there in our roadmap. We will try our best to make that possible at the earliest.

It's also one of the the planned features of 1.8.x.
According to the developer it will be supported later via minor updates to 1.8

We regret to inform you that the playlist feature is unavailable at the moment. However, you can select the folders and files and start the playback from the menu or top bar to selectively play the files. Hope this information helps you.

How to create rtsp link in playlist file?

Hi,
i can successfully open a single rtsp link with 'menu/network stream' dialog (like rtsp://192.168.1.23:554/Streaming/Channels/1/). But if i paste this into a .m3u8 playlist file MXPlayer cannot play it. I have other (http) streams in m3u8 playlists so the extension seems ok.
Anyone know how to put rtsp:// into playlists for MXPlayer?
Here is a sample link:
rtsp://mpv.cdn3.bigCDN.com:554/bigCDN/mp4:bigbuckbunnyiphone_400.mp4
I've put it into a .m3u/m3u8 file but it throws an error immediately when accessed by MXPlayer.
When i enter the url into 'menu/network stream' it does work. The problem is its not saved/remembered there reliably so putting it into a playlist file should be the way to go. But how?
