Mediatek 6572, Iphone Clone 6 Plus, Android 4.2.2, Kernel 3.4.5 - Android Builders Collective

Hey Friends,

https://imgur.com/a/Vfn1wpX
I did a backup of the stock rom, installed CWM recovery, rooted it, unpacked the rom(system and boot img) i did the packing again and all things worked. I installed Android Studio downloaded 4.2.2 SDK, there are diffrent system images default armeabi-v7a, mips, x86. i looked in cpuz and saw that i have arm structure, but that can not be true. But to my problem when i change the settings apk at system/app folder against one out of the android sdk. i can not install it, why? Another question is, can i update to a higher Android Version? I know what porting is and tested it but i got a boot loop. Thanks for your replies.

chinese tablet: newsmy newpad s7 dual core

hello,
bought yesterday a newsmy s7 newpad tablet from merimobiles, dual core 1.5ghz, dual gpu mali400, 1gb ram, 8gb hdd
the firmware is in chinese, full of bugs, unrooted... tried to install superuser, universal androot and market, but unsuccessful...
found that "su" missing.
superuser, universal androot won't install.
tried with superoneclick, adb and more, but they can't copy to tablet (permission denied).
i have from merimobiles a firmware, but also unrooted and without su.
questions:
1. how can i "put" su and superuser in rom (i saw that is "odexed"). tried to put in .zip, but received errors when installing
2. how can i customize my rom?
can you help me with this tablet, please?
thx, calin
tried to "cook" rom with dsixda android kitchen, but when i flash the rom receive the message: signature verification failed. installation aborted...
p.s. i've noticed that in the original rom, on Metadata folder are 3 files, cert.rsa, cert.sf and manifest.mf, but after i rebuild the rom with su and superuser, these files isn't exist anymore...

Thank you. That helps a bit more. Where did you receive your instructions on how to root it? Or what program/app did you use?
i don't receive any infos about rooting... i used universal androot, z4root, supersu. z4root work forever, without any result. androot give the message failed. supersu tell me that it don't find "su", but also can't install it.
yesterday tried to "cook" the original rom, received from the seller, with "su" and superuser, but when i try to flash the rom it say "signature verification failed. installation aborted"...

For the package to be flashale you need to sign it with the companies virtual verification signature and rename the package to update.zip. Thats why flashing isnt working for you. I also would HIGHLY recommend you not flash anything until root is achieved. Also universal root methods arent garunteed to work for every device. It is just garunteed for generic devices.
aha, what do you mean "sign it with the companies virtual verification signature"? unfortunately i can't root...

Your device has a bootloader, right? If it does then when the company who made that tablet releases an update, your device will automatically download the update.zip file from the company and install it. The package will be sined by the companies digital signater (saying it is their approved package) and then it will procced to update.

[Q] Backuping a chinese brand phone

I recently bought a chinese brand phone but the stock ROM is ****ty and is full of lies.
It supposed to have android 4 on it, but I'm pretty sure it isn't. It not only looks and reacts totally different but many aps give parse errors when installing. It's pre rooted and has Antutu pre-installed. but I'm unable to update Antutu because it always keeps using the version that was preinstalled. Antutu claims this:
model: X315e
CPU: Qualcomm snapdragon MSM8660
CPU model: ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v7l)
CPU freq: 1024.00 MHz MHz (yes... 2x MHz)
Android version: 4.0.6
Build nr: X315e DuakCore 1.5GHz 1GB RAM+1GB ROM
Kernel : Linux version 2.6.35.7 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #5 PREEMPT Tue May 19:07:25 CST 2012
I'm not sure how much of this that can be trusted, since I know the phone has less Ram that stated.
What I want to do is find out how to backup the stock ROM, and maybe find a custom ROM that works on it.
The seller clams it runs on a MTK6575, I found out that powering it up while holding down the volume up key gets it in recovery mode. But it only shows a picture to state that it can't find a recovery rom. I have to take out the battery to get back to a normal phone.
Any help here would be appriciated.
Summing up:
- How to install a recovery rom
- How can I make a decent backup of the rom
I managed to make a decent backup with a Russian program called mtkdroidtools.
That program also tells me that the processor isn't a MT6575 as claimed by the shop, but a MT6573 instead.
I kinda expecting this already, but it really bursts my bubble in hoping to get ICS on it.
Next thing I need is a recovery.img. After making a search for MT6573 I stumbled on this thread:
[AIO][TUT] ClockworkMod recovery for any MT6573/ 75/ 77
It explains how to make a clockworkMod img for MT65xx. I have been at it all day yesterday. It uses Cygwin and then either perl script or "Android Kitchen".
I've tried the perl scripts first. Unpacking was no problem, but when repacking it uses "Switch". The "switch.pm" module was removed from perl recently so it doesn't work. I tried changing the script to use other switch like functions but it keeps throwing me errors. (maybe someone with an older version of perl can get me a "Switch.pm")
Then I tried the "Android Kitchen" plugin. This one seems to run fine, and finishes without an error... but I can't find an output recovery.img anywhere.
I would contact the writer of that thread, but since I'm a noob to this forum I'm not allowed to.
So if anyone can help me with any of these issues then please do.
I'll be very grateful
I just had an epifanie, I was thinking I could just make a script without the switch in it, for now I only needed it to repack the recovery anyway.
So I hardcoded the script to only repack recovery images and that was it. everything works fine!
I would like to thank all those who were interested in helping me.
If anyone can still get me the switch.pm then please do. I can still use it.
And if anyone has a good place to start looking for roms that might work on my phone then that would be helpfull too.
Thank you XDA and thank you yuweng, I already thanked you in your thread but you deserve a second one

images for Phoenixsuite/Livesuite (sunxi) Allwinner A20

I have a cubieboard2 that I am trying to flash a Android image on cause the stock is crap and I here because the cubie forums are like school on Saturday... empty. I have a Windows box and Linux so I have both Phoenixsuite and Livesuite which I believe is just the Linux version. I have successfully used the Linux one but I only found one image and its cb2-nand-v1.07 . I was hoping to find a custom ROM of some type that would work with one of these two flashing tools. so if someone could help me out I would be forever grateful?

[Completed] Some questions involving a chinese phone

Hello.
Recently I bought a Chinese smartphone named HDC space note pro. (can't post links)
Some specs:
MTK6580 Quad Core
Model SM-N930F
6.0.1 Marshmallow
Kernel 3.10.0 (if you need the rest of the numbers feel free to ask)
I tried to expand the internal memory using a partition on the external sdcard. I linked the playstore and playstores services to the partition (ext2 i think). Turns out that was a bad idea, now all google apps are buggy. I reinstalled those two apps and later reset my phone and repeated the reinstalling process, with a app which the purpose was to avoid flashing the gapps file.
I have googled how to install a custom recovery like clockworkmod or twrp. Unfortunately, mtk6580 processors are not compatible with the tool provided (mtk droid tool), also the tool doenst support Kitkat or above.
I would like to know how can I install gapps without bricking my phone.
side quest: Also, a way to flash rooms, for later. Android's homescreen is getting uglier and uglier. Good old'ays with my Samsung GT-S5660 Galaxy Gio.
Thank you in advance.

Greetings and welcome to assist. It mayt be possible to sideload google apps via adb but not certain it would work. Here is a link to sp flash tools if you don't like to use fastboot
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982587
Also here is a guide to compiling twrp but if you can find a device with the same chipset it may be possible to port their twrp

Good luck
