[Completed] Some questions involving a chinese phone - XDA Assist

Hello.
Recently I bought a Chinese smartphone named HDC space note pro. (can't post links)
Some specs:
MTK6580 Quad Core
Model SM-N930F
6.0.1 Marshmallow
Kernel 3.10.0 (if you need the rest of the numbers feel free to ask)
I tried to expand the internal memory using a partition on the external sdcard. I linked the playstore and playstores services to the partition (ext2 i think). Turns out that was a bad idea, now all google apps are buggy. I reinstalled those two apps and later reset my phone and repeated the reinstalling process, with a app which the purpose was to avoid flashing the gapps file.
I have googled how to install a custom recovery like clockworkmod or twrp. Unfortunately, mtk6580 processors are not compatible with the tool provided (mtk droid tool), also the tool doenst support Kitkat or above.
I would like to know how can I install gapps without bricking my phone.
side quest: Also, a way to flash rooms, for later. Android's homescreen is getting uglier and uglier. Good old'ays with my Samsung GT-S5660 Galaxy Gio.
Thank you in advance.

Greetings and welcome to assist. It mayt be possible to sideload google apps via adb but not certain it would work. Here is a link to sp flash tools if you don't like to use fastboot
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982587
Also here is a guide to compiling twrp but if you can find a device with the same chipset it may be possible to port their twrp

[RECOVERY] Clockworkmod Recovery for ZTE V967S

DISCLAIMER:
Rooting your phone and using custom Recoveries and ROMS have risks and may result in bricking your device, and has nothing to do with Google or the device manufacturers. In case of any mishap I am not responsible if you brick/ruin your phone in any way.
Basic computer skills are required and minimal knowledges about phones and phones utilities too.
Make sure that whatever you do, you are doing it at your own responsibility.
I built from source a CWM Recovery, version 6.0.4.4 adapted by me to build in cm-10.1 environment, for ZTE V967S phone. I have to say Thank you to C3C076 for his help. He was kind to help me to figure out how to tweak building source for recovery, to obtain a compatible recovery. So, you should thank him, or even better to donate to him if you can. Now I improved the MTK compatibility, I fixed restore old recovery issue.
The CWM 6.0.4.4 recovery can be downloaded from downloads section. If you care enough, and you like what I did, after download just hit the Thanks button. If you use it or port it and ask other to hit Thanks for you, do the same here to show respect for my work.It is fully functional: it works for flash zip, to wipe, mount (both internal and external sdcard), backup, restore, format to factory from phone settings menu, apply updates from stock ROM, etc.If you share my compiled recovery on other sites or forums, please give proper credits for it!
CREDITS and THANKS
C3C076 for his help on tweaking recovery source.
bgcngm for his wonderful tool for unpacking and repacking img.
rua1 for MTK Droid Root & Tools.
dsixda for his Android Kitchen.
Cyanogenmod Team for their wonderful project.
Koushik for creating Clockworkmod Recovery and for constant improvement of it.
-- You really should thank to all of these guys or if you can to donate to them, because without their hard and fine work, we couldn't enjoy our phones as we should.
If you choose to use these, you are doing that on your own risk, and I can not be held responsible for any damage you made to your phone.
1. SPFlashTool backup ROM
A SPFlashTool prepared backup from last stock version 1.0.0 - 27.08.2013 for NonChina Market, if you need to unbrick your phone, or if you want to revert to stock. This version has English as default, and also include Chinese and Russian. It has root and custom CWM, otherwise is untouched. You have to flash this one with SPFlashTools. The scatter file is included.
3. A version prepared from last LewaOS v5 - only English - LewaMax v2.
Rooted, optimized, gapps included. The ROM will not change your recovery.
INSTALL INSTRUCTION:
Many people have problems with force closed processes because they don't flash a new ROM properly.
- In recovery, mount USB Mass storage and delete from sdcard these folders:
.android_secure
Android
LOSTDIR
- then back in recovery do a wipe all data/factory reset in CWM or Pre-Flash wipe in COT
- in CWM in advanced menu wipe Dalvik cache / in COT in storage management menu wipe Dalvik cache
- Now flash the ROM zip.
ATTENTION:
For extending data partition please refer to this source. It's better than my previous modd and I think it's safer. Thank you meteos. But, I recommend you to use top 2.5 Gb data partition size, and let remaining 237 Mb for sdcard failure situations.
Here you will find MTKDroidTools of rua1's.

1. A SPFlashTool prepared backup from last stock version 1.0.5, if you need to unbrick your phone, or if you want to revert to stock. It has only root, otherwise is untouched. I removed from that the preloader, since is a high risk to damage your phone using that. But if someone need it I will send him private. You have to flash this one with SPFlashTools. The scatter file is included.
2. An optimized ROM, prepared from 1.0.5 stock version, ZTE V967S ROM Max Flavour v-2. Slimed, odexed (about 60Mb apps on data usage), zipaligned, busybox, debloated, multilingual (sort of), and some other things. I replaced the Launcher with SOLOLauncher because is lighter (only 5-6 Mb instead of 20) and have more features. I've tested it and it works flawless. You should flash it with CWM Recovery.
3. Will come a version prepared from last LewaOS v5 for MIUI fans.

Hi Carliv, thank you very much for your rom. I am trying it and I am quite happy with that. I am only experiencing some problem with GPS: in some cases I was not able to switch on or switch off the GPS. Another thing that looks a little bit strange is that in YGPS -> Information the "chip version" is "UNKNOWN". With the sock ROM I am sure that the information about the chip version was displayed (MTK_GPS_.....). Have you the same issue?
Ciao.

No, I haven't any problem with GPS, and if you check GPS in YGPS with GPS switched ON it will show you chip version.
I don' understand where you can't swith on/off GPS: in quickpanel toggles, in settings locations... You don't say that. So, please, be more specific.
When I need GPS, I turn it ON, and it connects in about 3 sec. if I'm outside, or maybe 10 if I'm inside near a window.
Thanks for appreciations.
I'll try to help you if you give me more informations.
--------------------------later edit------------------
One other thing, I noticed that if you use scheduled power off/on, you have to manualy restart the phone after self turning on, because the WIFI and GPS doesn't work properly... I don't know why, and I think this is a bug in 1.0.5 version.
hello ,
thanks for your support in our phone ZTE V967S
i have bought the phone from minideal.net with 1.0.3 MULTILANGUAGE, rooted and google play store version and chinese CWM, but i want to install 1.0.5 version
and ENGLISH cwm. does your 1.0.5 version support full GREEK language?
how to install CWM Recovery 6.0.3.5??
you gave us the scatter file, the usb drivers for ZTE and the recover.img.
but HOW to use them? give us full details
As i can understand with SLIM version you do not have Google Play Store installed.
right?
i want to install SLIM version to have battery improvement but i am a little afraid if sth goes wrong (someone says that the GPS is not
working perfectly and maybe some important things are missing) what is your opinion for SLIM version in general? will i have a problem if i install SLIM
compared with FULL?
also i want the 5GB userdata partition.. how to manage that?
maybe i need first flash 2.5GB ZTE V967S P188F07 Max_v2
and then flash again Extend2_5GBUserData.zip
RIGHT?
can i do it directly ??

You're welcome!
Now, let's see:
1. No ROM is full multilanguage, except the case that all apps have multilanguage support. Otherwise, my version is as much multilanguage as minideal version from what I've seen - I ported translations from a Lenovo P770 because is very much similar. You will have Greek just like in minideal version.
We can try togheter to make a better translation if other users want that; I can post here archives with xml files that have to be translated, you make translations, post here back and I could integrate them in a ROM. That way we can translate even SystemUI, which now isn't.
2. To install CWM the easy way is with SPFlashTools - all you need is the scatter and recovery.img. Of course, you have to install proper drivers before - you can find them in first post. How to use SPFlashTools I can't reproduce here because there are several guides on forum, here is one of them. Just one thing: if you find hard to enter the phone in bootloader, just remove the battery and connect the phone to computer without battery - it will enter in bootloader automate.
3. I don't have gapps in my phone SLIM ROM, but version posted to download has, because many of you use them - I don't. The GPS is working perfect for me, the only bug I found untill now, and don't think is related to my work, but to original release, is that if you use Scheduled power on & off, after phone starts from sleep you have to reboot manualy, otherwise Wifi and GPS won't work correctly. I hope they'll solve that in a next release like they did with camera flash. But, overall slim or full version shares the same drivers, modules and libraries, and only difference is in installed apps. The full version has stock launcher and weather, and live wallpapers, etc. The slim version don't have those things.
4. You can't use a 5GB userdata partition because the entire phone memory is 4GB. You can expand userdata to max. 2.7GB, but I provided a solution for 2.5, because in case o SDCard failure on mount/unmount or other event, the phone will use those 270 MB from internal storage to function properly until you fix sdcard, without losing data. There are some solutions to expand data partition on sdcard, but I didn't tried them and I can't say you how that works. My ROM with 2.5 GB support will repartition userdata for you during install, and when the phone boots up you will see internal storage 2.5 GB instead of 1GB.
Ok, That covers all your concerns. Thank you for appreciations.
1. for Greek Language i think i am ok... as i can understand you import multilanguage support from Lenovo P770. how minideal managed to have Multilanguage support for 1.0.3 ?
did they import from another phone too?
2. another solution to install English CWM recovery is with Mobileuncle MTK Tools. do you agree? but thanks for your help for SPFlashTools.
ZTE USB Driver.zip ,MT6589 drivers.zip, MT6589 USB VCOM drivers.7z. which of the 3 drivers to install in order my PC to recognize my
phone? how to enter CWM? what do i need to press?
3. i want to have your SLIM version but with Google Play Store installed. how can i do this?
Are we sure that the problem with WIFI and GPS not working correctly after phone starts from sleep (Scheduled power on & off) is a problem
of ORIGINAL version? maybe it is sth eith your rom.... can someone confirm that?
4. what is the purpose of Extend2_5GBUserData.zip ???
before i had Xperia Sole . because the internal available memory for installed apps and games was about 4 GB some people developed a
tool to swap the internal memory with the external SD card. in this way if someone has 16 GB external SD card he/she can install BIG games without capacity problems

how to succeed such thing with ZTE V967S ?

I don't know how minideal got their translation, maybe they did it, it's not that hard, there are 4 files to translate to every language, and other 2 if you want SystemUI too, but you have to know a lot of foreign languages. That's the reason I said we can make a better translation, but everyone have to translate from English to his language.
Yes, you can install recovery with MobileUncle but you have to be rooted and to have MobileUncle installed. The way I presented works even for untouched stock ROM. Don't matter which order you install drivers. Install them all one by one, and connect phone in normal boot and wait for windows to install previous drivers for the new device, then connect phone in bootloader and wait again for windows to install necesary drivers.
The slim version posted here is with gapps included, you don't have to do anything for that - I thought I made myself clear. The version without gapps I kept it for me, I didn't share it. Most people want gapps and there was no reason to upload a version without them. No, I don't think that refresh for GPS and wifi has anything to do with my intervention, it's related to the way the phone enter to sleep and wake up, because is not completely shut down. My guess is that on wake up, not all modules are started properly, and that's the reason a phone restart solve the problem: when Android starts all modules are loaded correctly.
The purpose of Extend2_5GBUserData.zip is, as I said in that post, that people who don't want to install any of my ROM with 2.5GB support, to achieve an extended partition while they keep their ROM: minideal, stock original, or others not shared by me.
I know about that thing with extend to sdcard, but I didn't tried yet, and from what I've seen compiling recovery, for this phone you need to unpack, repack recovery.img and boot.img too, to modify fstab, not only that from etc folder. So, it's a little bit more complicated. Some people made some scripts for that for this kind of phones but for different cpu. I can't help you with this matter, because I'm not interested in it. For me 2.5GB of internal memory is more than enough.
LewaOS v5 is a different framework, more like MIUI, but with different launcher type. I did a debloated version, because LewaOS is mainly for China, and they have a lot of chinese apps. The people that download it they know what is. I used to like it, but now, the ZTE ROM, optimized please me more.
thanks for your help. I am really appreciate this. so if I want to extend my internal storage to 2,5 GB directly to minideal modded rom version I need to flash Extend2_5GBUserData.zip via CWM. right? there is no need to install first your modded version.
how to connect my phone in bootlader mode???
so you propose me to install lite version. I will give a try when my phone come to my hands!!!
one more question maybe not suitable for this thread but I wll ask you. do you know to propose me good screen protectors and slim caces for ZTE V967s? I heard that V987 quad uses the same protectors and caces with V967s. is it true?

Ok.
I don't use any screen protector. The screen is Gorilla Glass and you can't scratch it even if you want. Actually I can't find that info now, I've read that ZTE support answer that to a user. On official description is an IPS screen. But seems to be very hard. I've tested it with door key, really :good:
And the case... Mine came with some sillicone cheep case, I don't like it. I don't know if the case from v987 fits, because I know that v987 is 0.7mm thinner.
so you have this phone and you bought it from minideal.net. right?
you make me happy. but I am not sure for Gorilla Glass. the specifications does not mention that. and Greek guys say that is normal glass not Gorilla. are you sure for that? if you use your nails it will not scratch the screen.
also you have not answered me for Extend2_5GBUserData.zip
can I flash it directly to minideal modded version or is it necessary to flash your rom first?
about a slim case fitted exactly to our phone do you have sth in your mind to buy ?
also how do you find the photo and video quality of the camera?
thanks for all. you are great

Ok, I modified that to official infos, IPS screen. I've read that in an email support answer from ZTE, but I can't find now the source.
About Extended 2.5 GB I already told you two times, you can use it with any ROM, or to be specific: you can flash it on your minideal ROM.

Damn, I thought my English wasn't that bad... Hm... I wonder, there are out there other people who don't understand me too?
I don't know any case because I don't use one, but I read somewhere, I don't remember where, about a leather case for it. I don't know more.
The camera is average, but I didn't expect much from it, I have a DSLR camera for photos.
Cheers.
sorry my friend. just wanted to be sure !!!! sorry if you repeat some things twice for me.
in what way do u extend the data size up to 2,5 gb ? is it dangerous for the phone or does it has any effect to the performance and speed of the phone?
about the screen I have read in the official specifications that it is IPS and not Gorilla glass.
but first as you said somewhere read that it is Gorilla. and secondly you tried with your nails and key to scratch the screen without damages. if the screnn was just IPS this would never happened. what to say?????
I am a little sad with the picture quality!!! never mind.

Well, the method for repartitioning is presented here by meteos. You just need to modify in hex editor some values for Extended Boot Records EBR1 and EBR2. It's not dangerous if you don't make mistakes and enter some values that extend userdata more than 2.7 GB, and that wipe some portion of primary partition. In that case you will have a bricked phone and you can repair it, only by reflashing entire ROM in SPFlashTool.
EBR is for logical partition (userdata, phone storage or internal sdcard) and MBR for primary partition (Boot, Recovery, System..).
My archives are safe, and I've tested both myself without any problem. I'm using now a slim ROM with 2.5GB userdata (internal memory).
You're welcome.
thanks for your help.
you are always helpfull.
if you have any news for new scripts which swap the internal memory with our external SD card memory just inform us..
did you try to play heavy games? does the phone play them smoothly?
if you increase the storage to 2,5 gb what do you choose in storage option : auto , sd or internal storage?
a greek friend of me tried your SLIM rom. he said it is very LIGHT and FAST. But he has problem to select GREEK keyboard. he selects greek keyboard but the choice can not be saved. please try to fix this!!!

Ok, sorry for late answer. I was busy to update recovery to 6.0.3.6 version.
Now, I don't have time to play games, I never installed one in my phone, so.. I don't know how they work in it.
The increased storage is for memory (if you install heavy apps which needs a lot of memory, they use that as virtual memory). I select always sdcard in storage options as default.
I don't know why your friend has trouble to set greek keyboard. I selected it, test it, reboot phone - still there. To select: Settings - Language & Input - KEYBOARD & INPUT METHODS - Android keyboard settings - select only languages you use and deselect others - go back - Default - select Greek - exit - done.
I know it's light and fast, I wanted to be.

[Q] How and where to start modifying/customizing roms

Hello, first of all this is my first post, so im gonna introduce myself first,
I am a freelance web designer/developer and understands logical programming. Anyways i am basically new to android, and i want to learn how to edit/modify/customize stock roms. so first i want to learn extract these stock roms. I am currently on the starting phase and i only have some ideas about the terms / programs that is used in this forums. Basically, i am running a windows machine, OS is windows 7.
I find it hard to fix some bugs i encounter in my android which lead me to the goal of learning.
So for the device that i will use as a scapegoat for my learning venture, i am using a Skyworth x7010 tablet which have no more support, i think and not a very well known model, infact i cant seem to find any forums dedicated to the tablet itself.
I am technically knowledgable in computer hardware and windows OS, also i am able to write different type of websites in php, (forums, E-Commerce, social networking/networking website, company web based panels, etc.). As of now I am currently working alone in every web aspect of bagongpleion.com and bagongpleion.net.
So far this is what i have done, and done to the tablet. I have no backup as of now.
1. I have already bricked one, just made it perma bricked then returned for warranty, the staffs decided to mark it as defective motherboard (No response from anything including recovery mode and bootloader mode) ~ Bricked it while trying to flash cwm for rk30 device.
2. device is running a JB 4.1.1 for the android version, and kernel 3.0.36+ ([email protected] #48)
3. I have already started learning adb, well for the most part, i had used it in the past for unlocking devices that got locked out screen patterns, and rooting.
4. The Device has a rk3188 1.6ghz max quad (Box says 1.8 though), mali400mp(Quad), 2GB ddr3 ram, 8gb internal storage, partitioned in 2, nand and internal.
5. I have the usb drivers for adb and rktool, android sdk, currently downloading and installing cygwin but the download is so long, i am forced to close/pause it.
6. I have already rooted the device, and modified the applications, and removed some apps that is not required. I deleted the files in the /system/app thru adb. I also had edited the Build.prop already, Changed the heapsize to the best performance (I am comparing the performance with CPU Identifier and Passmark. ) Stability is tested with simultaenous apps (High end games, browser, root apps, benchmark). I also edited the pixel density and reduced it by 1 to make the resolution exactly 1280 x 800.
7, One bug i found is that it cant play NBA 2k13, I had almost tried every solution i can find in the internet, Used different version, i even copied the data and apk from a device that can play it. The game force closes automatically after the Black screen (Original apk) or muzhiwan or apkmania.com loading screen at the start. This is also one of the reasons why i wanted to edit/modify the device.
What i wanted to do.
-Backup Original Firmware/rom/img (i dont know which and what is the correct term)...
-upgrade jellybean to 4.2 if possible, or 4.3
-Tweak more the device to bring out the full potential of it,
-remove and clean the apps and everything, leaving only the necessary files and apps.
-learn more how much i can modify it.
NOTE: I am not asking for the people in this forum to spoonfeed me, i just wanted to know how and where to start, what to do, some keywords for searching, and the limitations that i have in my venture.
-i am a gambler and will take the risk to learn android much more )
Thank you
First of all, congrats that you are more of a researcher. That's a good thing because in the internet, answers to every questions are available. You just need to do the right search in the right way. :good:
Games not working on a device maybe because of various reasons such as the developer has made it limited to work on certain devices or processor architecture etc. If Play Store link shows not supported, then it needs more research and modifications to make it work, which is like 50-50.
And, as a learner you are good to start with XDA-University. It has countless tutorials in that section.
Good Luck and welcome to XDA!
thank you for the link and reply, i am actually suited best in researching, i learned every bit and pieces i know in building websites, programming web apps and system with php, even overclocking and advanced troubleshooting in researching the internet, anyways i have another question to ask,
what is nandroid?
is it an android device with nand storage? (I.E. Nand - internet - external - usb storage)
thank you again

Nandroid is referred to as Nandroid Backup (Backup being taken of ROMs) in ClockWorkMod recovery (Custom Recovery) for the most part.

i see, thank you again, as of now, i am still downloading cygwin packages, do you have an idea how big is the total file size of it?
and another thing, I have used romdump, and got the following..
boot.img (13mb+)
checksum.md5(265b)
config.gz
recovery.img(32mb)
systeminfo.gz(1.76kb)
system.tar(385MB)
how can these files help me and can i use them for backup?

Sorry, no idea about Cygwin.
boot.img is your Kernel, and its needed for modifying the kernel. config.gz is the configuration of your device, and its also used for kernel building. recovery.img is your recovery. system.tar is your system partition which contains all files related to ROM. Yes, you can use these as a backup, as actually you'll get these when you take a nandroid backup in CWM recovery.

basically, the system.img is the one that is mounted on /system right? and it contains all files related to rom, does it mean that the ROM is like the OS? if i am not mistaken, i had already edited the apps and build.prop in the /system before i had made the system.img. But i have pulled the whole /system folder before i deleted the apps thru adb.
now the recovery.img is the one that have the android with red triangle exclamation point on vol+ power (android system recovery 3e, this is stock right) ? this is what i need to use if i fail on flashing a custom recovery? is that right?
how important is the config.gz?
boot.img is the kernel, should i stay away from the kernel for the time being? or is it better to check the boot.img first?
am i lacking any file for backup or is this enough for backup?
i have installed rom manager but it says it unsupported device. does it mean that i cannot install CWM?
i think i can flash custom rom with rkbatchtool, i had tried it before (custom rom for a different type) and it ended up bricking the device
as of now, i have tried flashing the generic cwm for rockchip which ended in a black screen recovery,
i also tried flashing my recovery.img but it doesnt work, it get flash but nothing works
it is still working fine as of now except that it doesnt have a recovery!
i think i had corrupted the recovery partition, cause i used a 1.35 rk flash tool and the memory address was set for rk3066 which is 0x0010000 (i think) and mine was 0x0020000.....

Well...that's the reason.
Remove some system apps and retry. I recommend you to delete /system/app/Email | /system/app/Exchange2

Hi Alberto,
On Android 4.4.2 (Star i6 and Star P7 with MTK6582), I was able to change the mount point of the internal flash with the external one so that, even though my phone had only 4GB of "ROM" (of which about 1.3GB usable) I actually was able to use a 32GB external flash as usable space for all my apps.
First, I am not familiar with Android 6.0. Second I am not familiar with this specific stock ROM.
My questions are:
Is it possible to do a similar thing on this phone with Android 6.0 so that the total available space to install new apps is overall increased?
Is it possible to re-partition the memory (a-la 4.4.2) so that the partition used for Apps is increased and the partition used for data is decreased?
Thank you very much for your kind reply.
Best regards
Rosario
I have Problems with the official Stock ROM, com.android.snap shows ads and popups and the system crashes very often Is there a clean ROM?

Well you will lose the IP67 capability, but it shouldn't be difficult. Try to reflash the OS first. (Link in Doogee's website)

Root support for init.d
Hi Alberto,
I understand you rooted the Doogee T5.
May I ask you if the rooted ROM has support for the init.d directory (and, of course, the start up of scripts at boot time, with specific mention for the IPtables configuration) ?
Furthermore, I understand the T5 differs from the T5 S for the lower resolution camera and the smaller RAM. Do you know if the procedure to root the T5S is the same used to root the T5, with the same ROM ?
Thank you in advance

Procedure is the same. Recovery was done special for T5S, but it is suitable for T5 as well.

Good. Do you know if it has support for init.d scripting as well?
It is linux, of course yes. May be you must install busybox on rooted device.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but many Android ROM do not have init.d support, so, unless you have verified yourself, I would still keep it with a question mark. So, do you have the rooted ROM of the T5? Does it have init.d support?
As for the busibox tools, forgive me, but that has nothing to do with the init.d support.
I'm not sure that rom for T5 and for T5S are the same. These devices have different CPU, RAM and ROM. But procedure for TWRP and root are the same. For placing your own scripts in init.d you must install busybox and rootexplorer on rooted device. Than you can put what you want in init.d

Didn't you just say that the ROM for T5s was also suitable for the T5?
I wrote that the hardware is different ...
And, by the way, again, look init.d and busibox are two completely different things.
1. I said about TWRP recovery, not ROM.
2. To place your working script in to init.d you must have executable commands. Busybox is not only one solution for it, but it is simple.

You keep answering to questions that I have never given.
1. I did not ask if TWRP was OK, I asked if the ROM was the same.
2. I did not ask how to put scripts into init.d directory, I asked if init.d was supported by this ROM.
But thank you anyway for the conversation. I understand you don't have a rooted T5, that is totally ok. Just I need to know something else. Thank you again.
How to root Doogee T5
1. you need following software:
a) SP Flash Tool: -https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982587 (also you can download from site http://spflashtools.com/)
b) Doogee TWRP recovery: http://www.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/TWRP_Doogee_T5.rar
c) SuperSu: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu - you must save this zip into phone storage or sd card
2. Install SP Flash Tool, then flash Doogee TWRP recovery (see pic.)
1) choose scatter file from extracted TWRP_Doogee_T5 folder (recovery will be marked automaticaly)
2) push Download button
3) connect your phone. Phone must be power off.
4) after TWRP flashing will be done, disconnect your phone.
5) press volume up + power - you will enter into TWRP
6) choose install, and select your SuperSu zip
7) reboot your phone
3. Enjoy rooted Doogee T5
After installing TWRP and SuperSu - forget about OTA updates. After that you can install updates through TWRP or SP Flash Tool only.

Installing Google Play on an MTK Devices without using Recovery

Hi, I am quite new to this forum and thus I do not know if this question has been asked before. Still, I've been googling for many hours prior to this (and failed...) and thus this is my last resort... :crying:
I own a cloned iPhone 6s plus with MT6982 chipset (detail obtained from using MTK Droid Tools), I was interested mainly due to it being free (given by a friend) + the hardware specs is quite good and comparable to most of the mid specs phones available on the market. Knowing that it runs on Android OS (4.2.2), I believe I can do much more with this phone.
ATM, I've rooted the phone (using Frameroot), and installed CWM Recovery on it using the MTK Droid Tools, sadly the recovery doesn't seems to be working as it can't seems to mount the SDCard (kept getting error). I was thinking of using the recovery mode to flash GApps on it so that I can get a working Google Play store on my device.
Now, i know that you can't simply copy the google playstore .apk and install it onto your device, but I am just wondering, is it possible to install google play store (including all of its other dependencies i.e google service framework..etc) directly to the phone from the homescreen?
PS - Will post the phone specs if requested, and in case I am in a wrong section... please help a brother and point him to the correct thread please..
Thanks in advance!
anyone?

Maimeite M3 Pro Android 4.4.2 Firmware (MT6572 SoC)

For those who are looking for the firmware of Maimeite M3 Pro, I have attached here the zip file. Don't worry I didn't put a password so you're free to extract it. You may need to use SP Flash Tool to flash the firmware. The Maimeite M3 Pro is a chinese clone of the Poco M3 Pro. It has a 512MB of RAM, 1.3GB of internal storage, 3MP Rear cam and i think 1MP of front cam. I know you would say that these are terrible specs and really outdated OS but I've got to appreciate this thing as it was a gift to me by my grandma.
Let me tell you how I got this firmware....
The stock firmware of this phone comes preinstalled with adwares as what you might expect from a cheap clone china phone. It really sucks whenever I connect it to the internet, the ads are randomly popping out on the screen, it downloads malicious apps by itself. So I decided to root it to uninstall the system apps that are adwares which are causing the issue. I was able to gain root access and uninstalled the suspicious system apps. Yes it worked, it fixed the issue and I was no longer receiving ads/malwares but while navigating the kingoroot uninstaller application, I accidentally uninstalled the telephony provider which made the phone unusable because of the "the process has stopped" window that kept appearing on the screen....
So yeah maybe some of you may just throw it in trash heheh but I can't do it as this was a gift to me by my loving grandma. After all, it's not really a bad phone for basic uses like messaging, facebook, internet browsing, echolink, zello). I was left with no other options but to reflash the stock firmware. Unfortunately, I couldn't find its stock firmware on google, well there is one I found from KangSuper but the zip file is password protected and you have to pay for it to obtain the password and be able to extract it. There are other firmwares I found on google not specifically made for M3 pro but its stated device model is x6_v5_x50, which is the same as with the Maimeite M3 Pro. Looking up the x6_v5_x50 on google revealed that there are lot of chinese clone models who share the same motherboard, chipset and their firmwares are all based on Android kitkat 4.4.2. My plan was to search and download any firmware for x6_v5_x50 that is free and copy its system.img to replace the same one on the original firmware of Maimeite M3 Pro. It worked and the phone became usable again. The system.img that I flashed on the phone was from the firmware of Note30 plus which is also a chinese clone. But again, it came preinstalled with adwares and getting root access was unsuccessful.
Since this ported firmware that I made is unrootable, I decided to unpack the system.img and deleted the apk and odex files of the suspicious apps. I've also edited the build.prop and changed the value of qemu.hw.mainkeys to 1 to disable softkeys because these are enabled by default and the Maimeite M3 pro uses capacitive buttons instead. Then I repacked the system.img and flashed it on the phone...Problem Solved!
Now the phone works wonderfully and adware free. Maybe there are folks out there who'll need this firmware so I decided to share it here....Make sure that if you use the SP Flash Tool, all the boxes are ticked, if not, you may need to point the location of the file. I assume that you already know how to use the SP Flash Tool. There are many tutorials out there if this is the first time you heard the tool.
