It requires to unlock bootloader and it will trigger Knox, so yes it will void warranty.

Hi,
I have had to get a new phone and have decided on the honor 8 due to specs and vides i have watched, also the price it retails for was a big factor how ever i have come from the LG G3 (it set on fire -_-)
Is it worth me unlocking the boot loader and what exactly are the benefits to it ?
I will want to root the phone as i use apps that require this will i void warranty or will i be able to undo this and keep warranty ?
Also i do like the TWRP i had on my G3 but only for the backup option, is it worth me changing the recovery as i have noticed no custom roms anyway and by the looks there is a tool that i can use for backups ?
Thanks for reading
Unlocking bootloader won't get you much (only custom recovery now).
Honor don't void warranty if you unlock the bootloader or root the device
And for me, it's not worth to flash TWRP now, no custom ROMs and it doesn't work with all models
perfect thank you for the response that everything i need to know, now im just waiting as i have 24 hours before my phone is delivered aha.
Enjoy
Don't unlock your bootloader and just enjoy your phone as much as possible at this stage.
Unlock maybe 1 year later...

Same here, once theres Rom to flash, unlocking will happen:fingers-crossed:
We always warn our users, if you want to change the bootloader code or root the phone -- the warranty will be void. (NS)

Well...at least having root is a start. That way he can install root apps. It was like that on a few devices I had, but was grateful on at least having root. IMJS

What is the benefits of Google assistant? It sounds like an annoying app that I would uninstall as fast as I can say "bloatware"
But I don't know the app so that's why I'm asking

It depends on your WiFi router. Please check the administration menu on your router and in most cases you can manually set the DNS.
Can anybody validate this? How recent it is? Found it browsing.

What do you need to know?
There are some unofficial twrp versions that don't shows in there, like twrp 3.1.0-0 and 3.0.2-r5 for idol, for example.

Not sure if I understand the question... Coming directly from the TWRP team, this is as valid as it can get. All those devices are officially supported, and you can follow the links to the latest TWRP version available for a specific device. As @persona78 said, there are lots of unoffical versions for the devices not in that list, which are either ported from other devices, or compiled from sources by enthusiasts. Idol 3 is a good example...
I was hoping that I could install Magisk and TWRP. I don't really care about custom ROMs, is it possible or am I out of luck? Some info about my device:
Build number is BKL-L04 8.1.0.105(C567)
EMUI is 8.0.0
Security patch is March 1, 2018
If it is possible, are there any guides?
Which 3rd party unlocking service should I go through? And before I proceed, should I update to the latest software version?
Thanks.

Nowadays Honor don't provide unlock codes, so you can't unlock bootloader to flash any TWRP or get root with Magisk.
There isn't 3rd party services to get the code
You'll enjoy this device totally stock

Ok cool. So I checked the devices on funky Huawei and I see BKL-L04 8.1.0.120(C567), but mine is BKL-L04 8.1.0.105(C567) so don't know if it'll work.. would it be possible to update to BKL-L04 8.1.0.120(C567) somehow?

I suggest you to go for other service it's cheaper. I don't think build number matters now unless they are rebranded.
They are providing codes based on I numbers.

Sweet, going to go ahead and update to 8.1.0.135 and then unlock the bootloader then. Do you happen to have links to working Magisk & TWRP by any chance? Thanks again for all the help.

Don't update, unlock first and then update. The lower the security patch the easier unlock.
